i think the vourdalak (2023) was an interesting take on vampire mythos because i feel like a lot of vampire stories are obviously about the fear of some kind of Other (the foreigner, the diseased, the sexually transgressive) so it was interesting to watch a vampire film in which the vampire is not an outside force, he is within. he's the patriarch, he's the enforcer of rules and order, he is inside the walls of your house already.

My brain last night was trying to dream about watching the movie Jaws with my beloved, but I have never actually seen the movie Jaws so the "footage from the movie" my brain conjured up concerned the titular creature "Jaws", a bizarre undersea millipede-like creature with a shark's head (This was a false head to deter predators when it wasn't hunting.)

It had a thick carapace lined with small venomous spikes that held an insanely powerful numbing agent. "Jaws" was roughly the size of a small dog (initially, though was still noticeably longer) and covered in small gnashing teeth alongside nearly the entirety of the creature's underside. When it needed to hunt, "Jaws" would bury itself in the sand of shallow lakes, waiting for a human to step too close. Once they did step too close, the human's leg would be rendendered fully numb by the creature's venom and "Jaws" would latch onto and wrap around the leg, using both its teeth and its apparently sharp legs(?) to gruesomely rip and tear the numbed flesh down to the bone, before quickly leaving the unfortunate human and scuttling the fuck off into the sea to apparently molt into something roughly double its size. By the end of the movie it had grown to the point it was wrapping around and attempting to devour entire cargo ships.

I don't know what the FUCK creature that was, but even I know that sure as shit wasn't Jaws

I watched monster house on amazon prime yesterday for halloween spirit and was getting so pissed off because like so soon into the movie I could tell something was up and something was off about the movie and I thought it was just me until like halfway through the movie they cut a scream in half and i knew they were shaving off bits here and there to make the movie shorter like. I know this movie like the back of my hand you cant fool me. it fucked up the pacing and everything and on top of that they made the music quieter

hahahaha seriously tho that platinum blond hair + vampy lip combo is no joke!! it's funny cause my mom didn't let me watch certain movies as a kid (i remember she yanked me out of the theatre when we went to see coraline during the part when the other mother puts her in the ghost closet so for the longest time I DIDN'T KNOW HOW THE MOVIE ENDED AND IT DROVE ME NUTS) so i didn't watch hocus pocus until i was in my late teens lol. which is funny cause now i'm a little horror-loving freak hahaha.

oh my god i remember having sooo many crushes on fictional characters as a kid!! many of the common ones: zuko from avatar the last airbender, jeremy sumpter from the 2003 peter pan movie, haku from spirited away, raven from teen titans. but also some weird ones: the animated version of arthur from arthur and the invisibles, casper (also animated) from the casper and wendy movie cause he was so sweet and gentlemanly
