I am also going to scream because we legit had time to devote to Cecil becoming GDA director, PLUS A WHOLE MAYBE VILLAINS DO CRIME 'CAUSE CAPITALISM, but not any Mark/Eve proper buildup, ACTUAL team dynamics for anybody (we got some in s3ep3 is insane), Mark and Debbie dynamics, any exploration of Debbie as a person, which is killing me because that Cecil and Skull Lady fight slapped to me, (loved her design tho I was thinking about wedgies, lmao, nothing wrong with sexy fit it just made me snort). I am forever baffled by this show but I'm too deep to quit sjdksdkdkf. Why have all of this at once? I know episode count isn't their choice, presumably, but it all needs to slow down.

Like Kate came back married and Amanda excitedly hugged her?? I was baffled. When have you guys ever been close? The snippets we get just make the previous absence feel even more jarring. Why don't we get team dynamics? I loved you mentioned Justice League in the tags 'cause that's a team (also b/c I am a Batman fan first, person second)! I know how they work, their banter, personalities, they include tidbits like Superman's birthday and what Bruce and Wonder Woman might give as a gift which add to their character! There's dynamics explored, too, it's not always a whole group.

I'd argue even showing whole new!GoG out of costume to display their fashion choices is easy way to subtly imply character. Does Kate like working out since she has to depend on her skill rather than enhanced ability? Is she sporty? Does Rex like attention grabbing wear? Neon bright colors? Would he or would he not wear a crop top. I say yes. LET THEM HANG OUT. ONCE. Like, Rex feels like the most distinctive one to me because his louder personality means they have to show dynamic, even if it's irritation or exasperation.

ART IMMUNITY IS SO FUN. Like truly the only untouchable guy in the world. No one dares lay a hand on him. He's got a thousand super hero/villain/vigilantes who need his designs. I'd like to think Nolan is so blunt and strange it's got an allure to it, like now Art has to now what his deal is because he knows everybody's deal. Art knows everybody, and everybody knows him. And yeah, Art dealing with villains all the time so he's like danger-blind to unsettling vibes, love if he wasn't exactly shocked or grieving the relationship as much post Nolan Reveal, like ah yeah, some people go rogue.

Mark is a special little guy to whole GDA LMAO. He's got that undeniable nepo baby vibe istg. The facts are the facts Cecil has meetings to intend but he's procrastinating by checking on Mark instead. Imagine the GoG truly rarely see Cecil except for alerts and are baffled Mark has frequent check-ins? Especially since they dgaf about Nolan. But truly why isn't Mark seen with them? He's not in college, and Debbie is shown to be more present than Mark is for Oliver, so what's he doing then? Like, Immortal was the outlier, and Cecil's Cecil, so?????? Why doesn't he???????

ALSO YES EXACTLY. THE FAMILY HAS TO BE WEIRD. It makes no sense why they aren't. It's like they popped into existence when the first episode began, where's the historyyyyyyyy. I demand Mark be a danger-blind, paper eating, mercury snacking, nepo baby. Give him a mentor too. Also let him be Oliver's main parent so Debbie can be a person, give her one hobby. Like does she find it difficult to care when tragedies arise? Is she strangely calm if a crisis occurs around her, or outright irritated it's happening at all? The latter is so funny.

Begging for Mark platonically interacting with literally anyone, him and Rex's "that's his fav finger :/" was everything to me. I am chronically deprived of mfs interacting.

Also I saw mentioned in another post so I figure I'd just add here tbh, but utterly fascinated with how Oliver clearly needs a lesson in morality, like, not just being scolded and yelled at. Which I understand is part of Mark's flaw(s), his frustration and inability to explain the exact difference of when murder is okay, but I'm surprised Debbie and the GDA babysitter didn't make it a huge priority considering Cecil's worries. Heck, Debbie's and Mark's, too?

Honestly, love a fic where Cecil leaned into being a fatherly mentor figure to ensure Mark didn't go rogue, like not just check-in's or poking at the wound of Dad Issues to get Mark to comply. Including spontaneous lessons in morality or philosophy or how to strategize and put his power to use cleverly. Like, it's so strange we begin with a training session but don't really see it applied, and even Oliver seems stronger and faster than him, since Mark get stronger when enraged, but Oliver made the choice to fly faster and punch through a body? I know element of surprise but it just makes me tilt my head.

While I'm not too familiar with the DCU- your batfam meta posts are intiguing- so in transfering some of the broader strokes from them- I think you tackling a 'Mark isn't Nolan's biological son' fic would be fascinating. Sort of a step to the side of the 'what if Mark never got his powers' fic that sometimes pop up in the fandom

OOOOOO chewing on this currently, hm, the much a distinct flavor of exactly what you’re talking about, but the potential for more family drama depending on WHO knows. Does Mark know?? Is he waiting every day only to be crushed? Does he confused non-Debbie features with Nolan’s? I suppose I’m not the most enthusiastic about non-power AUs, but I think there’s something very fun to explore about Mark having to settle with, if he knows all his life, he will never have powers? I think the trajectory of his dreams will obviously shift, I can see him still having that distinct fatherly idolization, but perhaps embraces being useful to the GDA? Cecil’s number one intern—only intern—curtesy of nepotism, ha! There is something tickling me about Mark taking the Robin Route/Role for the Teen Team in terms of having no powers, just insane skills, BUT there’s something way more delicious about intern Mark when s1e01 happens and Mark tries snooping around to find out the truth about what happened to his Dad.

I wonder if, with Mark having a whole another father, if they’re more or less distant relationship, depending on WHEN Nolan entered Mark’s life? Like if Debbie met Nolan later for this, or just for fun, they dated once, separated (Mark being born during then), then they happened to stumble into each others lives again and Mark’s already been born, anywhere from tween to teenager so there’s a gap in how close they are. I feel like one important aspect of the whole Family Drama is how close they’re supposed to be, a functional, loving family turned upside down? So I wonder what more distance does. I wonder how Nolan copes when his family is entirely human and he can’t project onto Mark.

7 Days of Scarepairs: Sciles | Scott McCall x Stiles Stilinski (Teen Wolf) + “Grief”

It was a long ride back from the motel. At least, it felt longer. Stiles' gaze burning holes in the side of his face wasn't making it go any faster, either. Scott could see his bouncing leg, hear his racing heart and smell the anxiety radiating off of him. Even if he were oblivious to all of that, he would still know something was wrong with him.

"Stiles," he said wearily, looking at him properly for the first time since Coach snatched his whistle back off of Lydia and told them to sit down. "Are you okay?"

"What? Oh, yeah. I'm fine. All good."

The way he glanced at him said otherwise. Scott raised his eyebrows pointedly and the leg bouncing stopped. Stiles ran a hand over his thigh and nodded jerkily as if reiterating that he was fine.

"Look, we're gonna figure this out, okay?" Scott assured him as best he could. "From what Ethan said, there's a good chance that Derek is alive. Once we get back to Beacon Hills, we can find him, and we can make a better plan. No one else is going to get hurt."

He just managed to bite back a promise. He knew he couldn't. He only hoped that it was the truth.

But Stiles stared at him like he could see right through him, his eyes narrowing. He parted his lips like he was going to retort, as he usually would, but instead, he just shook his head and turned to face the back of the seat in front of him. As he ran a hand over his face, Scott frowned.

"You're angry," he blurted out.

Stiles shook his head again and sighed. "No. No, Scotty, I'm not angry." His heart skipped but he acted like Scott couldn't hear it. "I'm just... I'm tired. Last night was..."

"I know," Scott said softly. His own heart skipped. "But the darach's not going to catch us by surprise like that again."

Stiles nodded, but he didn't say anything else. In fact, he didn't say anything else for the rest of the ride. Scott wanted to, but something stopped him. He took to staring out the window and letting his eyes unfocus as he repeated his plan to find Derek in his mind the whole way home.

The bus dropped them off at the school. Stiles insisted on driving Scott home, even though he had his bike. He didn't put up a fight - he just wanted to go home and see his mom before he did anything else. That phone call back at the motel had felt too real. He just needed to see her.

Of course, she was at work. Scott sighed when he found the note on the fridge, but he told himself not to overthink it. She was fine.

"Alright, well, I think we should go to Derek's loft first," he said, turning to Stiles who was lingering by the back door, his arms folded. "He'd most likely have gone back there to try and heal."

He frowned.

"Although, if the alpha pack are looking for him, that might be too obvious. Maybe we should try the animal clinic first. He could've gone to Deaton, right?"

He waited for Stiles to agree with him or suggest something he hadn't thought of because right then, all Scott had was a handful of guesses and maybes.

But Stiles didn't chime in. He shrugged when he realized Scott was looking at him.

"Stiles, are you sure you're okay?" he asked gently.

Stiles dragged a hand over his face and sighed again, his tongue in his cheek, and he could smell the irritation on him, just like when they were on the bus.

"You know what? No," he snapped, throwing his hand up. "No, Scott, I'm not okay, and, quite frankly, neither are you, and I don't get why we're just pretending that last night never happened. Because it did."

"Do you mean..." Scott couldn't quite get the words out, his throat closing up around them and forcing them back down. He shifted his feet, his gaze dropping to the ground for a moment. "The wolfsbane?"

"Yeah, I'm talking about the wolfsbane," Stiles said, his voice thick with emotion he was failing to contain. "More specifically, what the wolfsbane did to you, Scott."

Scott shook his head, his eyebrows drawing together as he tried to ignore the sick feeling weighing down on him. "It was just... you saw what it did to all of us. Ethan-"

"Tried to saw himself open, yeah," Stiles cut him off. "Probably something to do with his freakish ability to combine into one even more freakish mutation with Aiden. Isaac - he was hiding under his bed. Boyd and Lydia were hearing things. But you, Scott..."

He took a step toward him, and Scott watched his feet, observing every little detail of his shoes and the kitchen floor.

"Scott, you tried to kill yourself."

"It was just..."

"No. No, Scott, the wolfsbane brought out all of your biggest fears and just - just heightened your true emotions. Boyd's guilt about his sister, Isaac's fear of his dad, Lydia always being the one to find dead bodies. It wasn't the wolfsbane talking when you did that. Was it?"

Scott knew he had to give him an answer. He just didn't think either of them really wanted to hear it. The truth hung in the air between them, as suffocating as the gasoline that still clung to Scott's senses.

"It doesn't matter," he said quietly, then looked up to meet Stiles' disbelieving stare. "We need to find Derek. We can't waste any more time, we need-"

"Scott, stop! Can you even - you nearly died! Twice!"

"But I didn't-"

"Because someone stopped you! Allison literally had to sew you back together because you felt so guilty about Derek being dead that you were going to let yourself die, too! Scott, I had to talk you out of setting yourself on fire, how can you not - how do you not see how messed up that is?!"

"Stiles, I'm sorry about last night, okay? I shouldn't have... I should've fought the wolfsbane, or..."

Stiles just stared back at him, shaking his head incredulously. Finally, in a much softer voice, he said, "Scott, I don't want you to be sorry that I had to save you. I just... I just wanna know that you don't actually believe what you said last night."

It was a simple request. It would take just two words. And yet...

Scott opened his mouth. Then he shook his head and closed it again, looking away with a piercing pain where his healed wound was just yesterday.

"You have to admit that a lot of what we've gone through wouldn't have happened if I hadn't..."

"Hadn't what?" He looked back up to see the reason for the quiver in Stiles' voice; tears shone in his wide eyes. "Hadn't survived being bitten by Peter? That's what you meant, wasn't it?"

He tilted his head but he didn't get a chance to deny or confirm. Stiles already knew. He looked like he might crumble into a million pieces.

"Scott," he said, his voice cracking as he moved closer. "I don't care what's happened to us. I don't care about the murderous werewolves or - or the hunters, or any of the crazy supernatural things that keep happening around us, alright? Because we've survived it, but what I wouldn't have survived was losing my best friend."

Scott bit his tongue, his eyes stinging. Part of him wanted to point out all the bad things - the numerous times he's put his life in danger, the people who haven't survived the craziness of their world, and everything else.

Then Stiles really did crumble. "Scott, I meant what I said last night. And I can't lose you. I can't - you and my dad, you're all... you're all I've got, and I can't - Scotty, I can't lose you as well. I need you. And I know how selfish that is, but it's true. So, if you need a reason to - to believe that you should be alive, then there it is. Me, Scott. Make me your reason if you have to, or your mom, or even Allison, because I promise you that none of us would be better off if you weren't here."

"You'd be safe, at least."

He didn't mean to say it. It just slipped out.

"You don't know that," Stiles countered, then he shrugged. "And even if that was true - I don't care. Scott, I'd rather be in danger every day of my life from some supernatural threat than live without you."

He didn't know what to say to that. All he could do was surge forward and hug him. Stiles immediately wrapped his arms tight around him, as if he never intended to let go.

"I'm sorry," he repeated quietly into his shoulder.

"Just make me a promise, Scotty. Alright? Promise that you'll talk to me, so that, when you start blaming yourself for every bad thing that's ever happened, I can tell you what an idiot you are."

Scott chuckled and nodded. "I promise." Then, he softly added: "I mean it."

Stiles tightened his arms just a little more. Both of them savoured the feeling of the other against them. Solid. Real. Alive. Safe. For a moment, they were as physically intertwined as they were in every other way.

Scott knew they should look for Derek. They should come up with a plan to stop the darach. But he wasn't ready to let go of the first real feeling of comfort he'd felt in a while.

well hold on, if we define a character flaw as any limitation a character deals with, regardless of whether it's something Morally Wrong With Them or not, then Ford's paranoia counts as a character flaw since it does in fact negatively impact him and the people around him. The Runaway Bride:

-tries to ask the doctor about rose cause she can see he needs to talk about it even though she just missed her wedding and the best day of her life just turned into the worst

-immediately makes sure everyone is ok after they were attacked at her wedding reception

-puts her body between armed robots and the doctor and yells at them not to hurt him (she only knew him for a day and didn't have the best relationship with him at this point)

-"see? told you [the tardis] would be alright" -> to me, the doctor saying that proves that donna probably was worried about the tardis in the first place and asked about it

-says lance "didn't deserve to die" after he tried to murder her and broke her heart

Partners In Crime:

-"what about poor stacy?" -> calls out the villain on their misdoings while she's literally at gunpoint

Fires Of Pompeii:

-desperate to evacuate the people of pompeii without a thought for what it could mean for her (fking up the timeline could mean she never existed in the first place)

-makes evelina laugh on purpose cause evelina was sad

-gets immediately concerned on behalf of the sybilline sisters when she learns they're gonna turn to stone RIGHT AFTER THEY TRIED TO SACRIFICE HER

-"never mind us" -> ready to sacrifice her life to reestablish the normal timeline and defeat the pyrovile on her first ever travel

-takes on the burden of destroying pompeii with the doctor when she sees that it's too much for him

-still tries to get people to go to the hills instead of the beach as the town is about to get ravaged by lava

-hesitates to get back into the tardis when she sees caecilius' family crying and holding each other EVEN AS SHE HEARS THE TARDIS LEAVING WITHOUT HER

Planet Of The Ood:

-immediately gets past her first surprise at the sight of an ood when she sees he's been shot, comforts him as he's dying, calls him sweetheart and strokes his head, immediately coming back on her knees to pay her respects even though the doctor told her to be careful

-doesn't think it's funny when solana displays the ood "special features" and immediately goes to ask an ood if they get a say in this when she learns they're being exported out from their own planet

-asks to hear the ood's "song of captivity" even after the doctor makes her understand it will upset her, and she does get upset and cries and shakes in horror, and apologizes to the doctor for not being able to take it, and then gets even more upset cause he can still hear it

-is so disgusted when she learns about the lobotomy that she doesn't want to travel with the doctor anymore

-"they're born with their brains in their hands. don't you see? that makes them peaceful. they've got to be, cause a creature like that would have to trust anyone it meets" -> this slays af

-"you murdered him" -> again, calls out the villain on their misdoings while she's literally at gunpoint

-gets really really happy when she can hear the ood's "song of freedom"

The Sontaran Stratagem/The Poison Sky:

-is immediately warm to martha and makes little jokes to make her comfortable

-gets angry at colonel mace about the factory workers being arrested and compares it to the guantanamo detention camp (never afraid to speak up when she comes across injustices)

-"and you be careful!" -> always worried about the doctor cause she knows how reckless he can be when she or other companions aren't around

-puts her own life in serious danger cause the doctor needs her to do something important on the sontaran ship even though she's really terrified

The Doctor's Daughter:

-"her name's martha. and she's not collateral damage, not for anyone" -> again, yells at people who have guns in the defence of someone she barely knows

-gives jenny a name and is nice to her, trying to get to know her, and then convinces the doctor to take her with them on their travels and that she's his daughter and her presence would be good for his healing

-worries about martha's condition when they're reunited

The Unicorn And The Wasp:

-comforts and makes agatha christie laugh when agatha starts to doubt herself and lose herself in her grief over her relationship with her cheating husband

-is sad and offended on behalf of the gay footman because he can't even mourn roger

-convinces the doctor to go back to see agatha before she dies to show her that people never stopped reading her books (i know it's a deleted scene but it still counts)

Silence In The Library/Forest Of The Dead:

-gets annoyed at miss evangelista's colleagues when they make fun of her for being stupid and then goes to her to cheer her up and make sure she's ok

-miss evangelista appreciated it so much that she asked for donna for comfort in her death, calling her "the nice woman", and donna got past her huge discomfort and terror to be there for her

-in the parallel world of the library, when she married lee, it's hinted that she helped him so much to get over his stammer as he seemed to be able to speak more confidently after spending years with her

Midnight:

-after the events of midnight, the doctor was traumatized and yet he let donna hug him and hugged her back so tightly she flinched, cause even after he was touched and dragged against his will and nearly killed, donna was the only one allowed to touch him and honestly it says so much about how she makes him feel and about how sain their relationship is

Turn Left:

-keeps trying to cheer her mum and being positive even after the whole world goes to shit and after her mum tells such horrible, horrible things to her, making her feel like she's nothing

-runs after the truck that's taking roco's family away and screams at the military men when she understands that they're being taken to a concentration camp

-sacrifices herself by throwing herself in front of a truck to save the world

The Stolen Earth/Journey's End:

-cheers up the doctor as he's terrified and overwhelmed by reminding her he'll see rose again

-comforts him and reassures him when he realizes that davros is still alive

-is so, so happy and excited for him when she sees rose at the end of the street because she knows he finally gets to see her again

-throws herself face-first into danger when tentoo is incapacitated even though she's got no idea how to stop davros and the daleks

The End Of Time:

-keeps fighting for the doctor and her gramps even as her memory is wiped by helping them find out where to go to stop the master

The Star Beast:

-loving and accepting of her trans daughter and ready to tear the world apart for her

-even though she can't remember aliens and isn't used to them anymore, she can sense that something isn't right about the meep (doesn't get fooled by his cuteness), and my proof for that is that when the meep kills the two roth warriors, she doesn't hesitate one second to go comfort them in their last moments and then take a go at the meep

-gave up all her lottery money to charities because "there were places out there where people were in danger, and pain, and fear, and i could help"

-"and it's not just rose, it's 9 million people. who cares about me?" -> again, sacrifices her life without a second thought because it's just logical for her to do so

-spends what appears to be her last moments making the doctor laugh, probably cause she doesn't want him to feel too bad about causing her death

-when she was 10 y/o, she left her mum's side at the grocery store because she saw a younger boy crying all alone, and she didn't stop until she had reunited him with his own mum ("the star beast" novelization)

The Giggle:

-tries to make the doctor talk about his feelings and understand it's ok to settle down and have a break and do normal things with friends cause she can see he's so, so tired

-puts herself in harm's way just to hold the doctor's hand so he doesn't die alone

EXTENDED MEDIA (beware of spoilers):

In The Blood (book by Jenny T. Colgan):

-she's the tardis' favourite companion

-her compassion and kindness literally made an alien dude who had no fucking emotions fall head-over-heels in love with her

-gave wilf some of her blood to save him without hesitating and without even knowing if it would work even though she's so afraid of needles that she fainted in the process

-knows when to shut up and just be there after the doctor really hurt himself to save her life

Death And The Queen (audio story by James Goss):

-ready to offer herself in sacrifice to the physical manifestation of death to save a kingdom because she actually took the role of newly crowned queen very seriously

-treats her servants with so much respect and consideration and friendliness

donna noble has a hard exterior. she has been so put down in her life that her shell is the only thing that she feels will protect her from anymore heartbreak and disappointment! she acts aloof and above others because she feels the exact OPPOSITE. it is proven time and time again that donna feels deeply for others and has even put herself in actual life threatening situations because she CARES that much about others. it also makes no sense to call her arrogant when half of her lines are her demeaning herself and her arc is literally her acceptance of the fact that she IS special and she CAN BE worth something to someone.

second of all, unpleasant? what i’ve found is that donna haters say unpleasant to mean “not complacent in every idiotic idea the doctor has.” its misogyny at its finest. they want donna to be head over heels and awed by everything the doctor does. when she treats him as an equal, they hate it because they’re so used to the women in doctor who thinking the doctor is all knowing and amazing. donna saw him for how he really was before she got his persona.

the thing about donna and the doctor is they are two sides of the same coin. one knows he’s supposed to be important and has a hard time coping with that, and one is convinced she can never be seen as anything but a failure to other people. they both put on a mask of false confidence, but they both understand that neither is okay.

yeah, and so is ten’s. that’s why they work so well together. he loved every conversation and argument they had. he held her in such high regard and their banter was a part of what he loved so much about her. it set her apart from other companions. it kept him in check, it made him reevaluate his ego and decisions. not to mention that “bad behavior” and those insults stopped him from literally offing himself.

in conclusion:

the doctor would hate this person, the doctor would hate a lot of the people in this fandom who mistreat and mischaracterize donna. a lot of you are way to comfortable perpetuating misogyny. this isn’t the first time i’ve seen comments like this made about her. i’ve even seen whovians on here be awful about her and disgustingly mischaracterize both her AND the doctor’s feelings about her. i’m tired of seeing it!

No need to apologize! It's not one singular person doing it and truth be told I don't think it's a large majority that thinks that (albeit the ones that do are quite vocal). I didn't mean to upset anyone or anything when complaining about it, I was just letting off some steam.

Admittedly, I do think there are reasonings for people thinking this way. A lot of the focus with Clash has been on the cogs, especially after the 1.3 update. Which I can't say I blame them! Managers were something new and exciting and (from what I can tell) really separated them from the other servers. I don't blame them for wanting to put focus on that because that was their thing. Alongside other things, but majorly when you hear Clash the managers are mentioned in someway shape or form. But as we all know, toons ended up taking the short stick from this. This isn't helped by the gameplay itself, being mainly a fetch-quest deal so you often only talk to npcs once or twice unless if they're repeated ones and the taskline wasn't entirely accessible on the wiki for a while (shoutout to the wiki maintainers. The taskline script is a savior). Which I'm quite excited to see if they deal with this issue with the rewrite. I imagine they will, but anyways. Social media posts would often contain more managers than toons, which I also believe they're starting to fix. And ontop of this, I believe most of the team in the early era of the sever is gone, so there's been some stuff lost in the change. So yeah, dialogue/writing has been kind of rocky. AGAIN- I am completely aware of the rewrite going on and I am not judging them harshly based off of their current state. I'm very appreciative of the fact that they took the time to listen and are focusing on trying to fix it up. And then there's also fandom mischaracterization- especially of the cogs. Forgive me for mentioning mischaracterization because normally I wouldn't really care (I've mischaracterized characters before..especially in my younger years. I think it's just a process of learning an having fun and I hate to limit anyone because of it). With that being said, there's a lot of baby-fying and coddling of the managers. Especially with those who have more 'sympathetic' stories (Misty, Chip, Winston specifically). Don't get me wrong, I like these characters and I can appreciate the story they're trying to tell, but I feel like so many people will hear their dialogue and then misplace their anger. People get mad at Bessie for trying to protect HER lighthouse or at the Elders for trying to keep YOTT safe (lets not forget Winston was there to brainwash toons). Yes, yes technically there would've been better ways to do it but consider this: The toons are scared. Their homes, stores, lives are being taken over by a big corporation that has more resources that they do. They don't have the privilege of waiting, seeing, and gathering. And then people forget that the company has such a huge role in both toons and cogs lives. If you're mad over the mistreatment of Misty or the fact that Winston is still in the dungeon, your anger should be directed at the company who doesn't care. I may be completely wrong in saying this, but I feel like the stories with almost all of the managers is a reflection of the company. The toons are only trying to protect themself and their environments and yet this seems to go forgotten when people start bashing them. And of course, I'd consider myself a toon guy so me saying all this and complaining may come off as "I HATE the cogs and everyone who posts only about them!" and for clarification that's not true. You all know how much I like that little brain thing. The cogs are interesting, their designs are fun, I don't blame people for liking them because I do too. I just wish that the thought process behind so many of these discussions wasn't so cog focused because I believe that this anger at the toons for, RIGHTFULLY, defending themselves helps push this mischaracterization of them as a whole. That they're mean, boring, unlikeable while the opposite is true. Yes there are some, what I'd consider, "filler" dialogue from the shopkeepers. This is just because of the gameplay. But there are some funny and cute moments with them if people would just listen and read.

Which also brings me into another point: people skip the dialogue. I've caught myself doing this before (on my first account. I have 4 accounts total, so I reread the dialogue on like 3 of them). But people will complain about lack of toon personalities while doing this. It's like reading through a comic book, only looking at the drawings, and then complaining because there "isn't a storyline". Luckily, there's been efforts to keep track of the dialogue on the wiki but I doubt a lot of people are going through and reading the entire script. It just feels very disingenuous to criticize the dialogue when you haven't even read it. Likewise, people don't seem to read the blogposts either. This is both from a dialogue aspect and from an update aspect (people continuously asking about hammerspace/mix-and-match under unrelated posts).
