this might be a little controversial, but i genuinely don’t understand why some ppl shove geto and gojo into heteronormative boxes to justify why they ship them the way they do. we’re talking about a gay ship here—why are we treating them like a straight couple?

i’ve seen ppl say geto is the “girl” in the ship bc he’s caring, he’s kind and considerate. because he wears robes that have dress-like silhouettes, has piercings and long hair. because he’s shorter than gojo. i think the worse part about it is when they take a small detail about him and turn it into something it’s not, like them saying that geto caring about gojo and asking him if he’s alright is a “wife-coded” thing to do. is being a good friend inherently gendered? is being gentle gendered?

Hi Anon! I've seen this same kind of talk floating around both on here and on Twitter. I don't agree with it personally. I think it stems from wanting to apply human morality and human logic to creatures that are not. These are monsters, as beautiful and alluring as they may look.

If we follow this logic, then every single sexual encounter Louis had with Lestat in season 1 was also rape. Lestat gives Louis the dark gift under duress and false pretenses, and he lies to him and manipulates him throughout their entire relationship. How dare people ship them and find their sex scenes enjoyable?! Jail!!!

I've also seen people argue that the only reason Louis continues to have sex with Lestat is because he uses it as his only bargaining chip to avoid further violent outbursts. Or that he traded it in exchange for making Claudia. Therefore all the sex between them is also rape by coercion. And if you enjoy it then you are an immoral pervert! Jail!!!

I've also seen folks argue that due to Armand's past trauma, he's unable to fully consent to the type of dynamic that he and Louis engage in. He's using BDSM as a form of self harm and evil devious former pimp Louis uses it to manipulate him. So he's also being raped each time he has sex with Louis or that Louis orders him to bend over face down ass up in the coffin. Jail!!!

And of course, you also have the issue of the vast and problematic age gap with Armand and Daniel. A brown man who is former sex slave dating a white man who once referred to him as a rent boy and mocked his religious beliefs. Outrageous! But on the flip side, you have a vulnerable and frail old man who is attacked and coerced into vampirism by an infinitely more powerful being, and who is now forced to be connected to him for eternity. How can Daniel possibly consent to sex in that situation? Unacceptable! Jail!!!

Oh, and Claudia is also being raped by Madeleine because she's older in human years and clearly has a penchant for younger partners. But on the flip side, Madeleine is being raped by Claudia because Claudia is older in vampiric years and far more powerful than her. Immediate Jail for both of them!!!

So basically by this logic, all the characters on the show are constantly raping each other left and right, and we as an moral and righteous audience should not be enjoying any of it lest we be branded apologists and perverts.

I find this to be such a laughably surface level and reductive way of looking at the complex dynamics between these characters. And again, it seeks to define them in human terms and to confine them to a human understanding of what a "healthy" loving relationship looks like.

At this point I have no interest in engaging with any of this because we've been having this same discourse for the past two years. Once you scratch beneath the surface, it very quickly became evident that all these arguments are just strawman. It's a way for people to minimize and dismiss ships or characters they don't like and prop up the ones they do. It's a way for them to virtue signal and pretend they are better and smarter than all the other unrefined peasants who are consuming this show 'wrong'. They are morally superior because they prefer one blood thirsty serial killer over all the others. It's a boring, sterile and useless discussion.

I'd say keep shipping Loumand if you want to, or don't if it makes you uncomfortable. But I think the people making these arguments need to consider that perhaps a dark gothic romance about toxic monsters that kill for a living is not the right show for them. I dont get why is so hard for some ppl to understand why Crocodile and Mihawk are angry, they aren't mad about the ship like yeah the ship looks ridiculous to them but is more about how they think Buggy keeps disrespecting them even if he didnt do that on purpose (is just his subordinates that loves him so much) idk if ppl forget that while Buggy is the leader in the public eyes the reality is that Mihawk and Crocodile are the real leaders, Crocodile himself had the idea to make the organization, was the one that recruited Mihawk, the one that went after Buggy and Buggy said he will work till the bones for free so he could pay his debt, he also was the one with the idea of putting the bounties in the Marines head and the whole Utopia stuff and then when he was explaining his plan to Mihawk Buggy just announces that he wants to be Pirate king.... Changing their whole plans and acting like they were his subordinates irl.

Mihawk whole reason why he let Buggy live was bc he wanted a peaceful life but now he needs to participate in the race for the OP for something he never cares about (that is why he told Buggy "do you wants us to fight Shanks, BB and Luffy?")

People just don't know how to read sometimes, but it is pretty clear that they're upset because Buggy is... Well... Buggy. We love him. Adore him. But sometimes he's a bit too impulsive and a bit too confident when he shouldn't be (he should. He just chooses the worst fucking moments to be). He's paying a debt, after all, and both Crocodile and Mihawk hate being disrespected this way. Mostly Crocodile. So of course they're going to be angry if Buggy starts acting like their boss, when in their perspective he's just a useless clown.

The whole thing about this dynamic is how Crocodile and Mihawk are both focused on the business only and have lost sight (or simply don't care) about what it means to be a pirate (it doesn't necessarily mean going for the OP but it is true that the OP thing is right now the main pirate inspiration because it sums up all the qualities of one). Buggy is more of a pirate than these two together for following his dream (finally) but that doesn't mean they have to accept that right away because at the end of the Buggy is the subordinate in this deal they've got going on. It's just a matter of time before they actually start seeing him as an equal (or treating him decently) but right now it is very understandable why they hate his guts.

After reading your post about Faye, I almost got a sense of deja-vu because I also had a similar rant about it.

Like that woman has been publicly out for a few years, privately even more (imo it was probably an open secret before she publicity came out). And no matter how "open" Thailand is for lgbtq ppl it's always a risk to come out, especially if you are already in a public light.

saw ur post about going incognito into spaces and stuff and i wanted to add my own thoughts about my experience of basically being stuck in places where proshippers r hated (not against wut ur saying! i definitely agree that theres no benefits and honestly its not that fun)

the fandom that im currently in is.. very toxic. someone got harassed to the point of having to delete their account bc they "supported" a proshipper (it was literally just them saying that u shouldnt harass this person just bc theyre proship-). a lot of my friends were very supportive of this person and agreed that ppl shouldnt be harassed over shit like that and many of them seem to have similar viewpoints as me (anti harassment and all that) but prefer to stay away from that stuff

the fandom is basically ran by antis. theres a small corner that some ppl have made where they talk about proship stuff freely (love those ppl so much theyre genuinely so nice) but overall its. not the best place to be if ur proship. which is interesting to me bc theres actually a shocking amount of proshippers that just... dont say anything. on my side blog ive had multiple ppl interact that i thought were anti (or at least just. not proship in some way) but would literally go and like all my posts about incest ships of the characters.

and sometimes i think about it and how theres actually a bunch of proshippers but we're so heavily harassed and silenced that we just- dont say anything. but the fandom is small and we cant exactly separate ourselves from it if we really like the show. and i feel especially bad for some of the bigger blogs that ppl love and adore bc i know wut would happen if somehow ppl found out and made some big post or wutever.

Although it can be full of snot-nosed superiority complexes, I do recommend using the AO3 Subreddit in order to find likeminded people for your fandom. The very vast majority of the AO3 Subreddit is proship or at least proship neutral. Antis are generally eviscerated on sight whenever they try to poke their nose into it.

If you have any other fandoms that you are active in or have friends within, there's also no harm in introducing them to your small fandom.

From what I understand the Marvel fandom did kind of the same thing you're describing with the Starker shippers, but they flourished and supported each other anyway.

I know its easy for me to simply say 'do it anyway' as someone who generally could not give a fuck about anyone's opinion of me, but honestly. Do it anyway. Form your little collective. Support each other. Learn how to write and draw and make GIFs so you feed your own portion of the fandom. You physically do not need those people, it just unfortunately takes a bit of effort and means potentially a bit less content until you start really generating your own.

Fandom spaces do not start out from nothing. Promote the shit out of your fandom. Draw people in. Comb through the proship tags and send asks to blogs like mine asking other proshippers to check out the source material.

People in small fandoms are easy to bully because you're so enclosed into this circle of the exact same people. They happen to be the majority in the room and they're weaponising it.

Force them into a bigger room.
