#(the closest city to my parents house where i grew up im here on the holidays)#not that i go into the city much its rubbish and not worth the bus fare#so i usually only go if my parents drive me#and like everyone in the rest of the countrys always like its such a great city isnt it so nice you live nearby and used to study there#like apart from who wants to study in their local city if they can at all avoid it thats why i changed#but its actually rubbishly laid out and ugly and boring and stupid and pointless#the next closest small city which has a lot worse reputation is actually a bit nicer in my opinion#not that i particularly like that one either and some parts are really rubbish but i really think its not so bad#and like most of the students when i studied there (the closer one) also werent completely obsessed as well as like most normal people#but you even get some locals that are like its so brilliant#no it isnt its a tourist rubbish pit#anyway their latest drama is just stupid ridiculous#like i keep seeing it on facebook#like theres no point in even censoring where im from is there might as well just put the actual town cause anyone who knows me would#recognise this commentary anyway and could probably guess it was me if they were for some reason on here and reading these posts#which theres absolutely no reason they would be so why would i bother#but still the idea of putting my local city is a bit weird even though i dont care about strangers at all#at least at a rough glance no one would identify me and no ones going to read my blog closely anyway#so it doesnt matter that my attempts at privacy are completely pointless#i mean doesnt everyone hate their local city anyway i didnt specify enough that itd come to mind where im talking about

Love that not even a full week my partner watched The Terror they still cried genuine tears thinking about Jopson’s death to where it affected them so bad they’ve saved like a dozen pictures on their phone and now browses Etsy looking for a plushie because, I quote, “I just need a little Jopson. To hold.”

My afraid-of-romance ass has just been asked by another regular customer for my number and the stupid thing is that again I do think this guy is kinda cute and I really probably should say yes

Quite recently I realised that whenever I hear or see a word "always" it sounds in my brain more like polish "za każdym razem" (that is "every single time") instead of what I've been taught ("zawsze" is more like "now and forever"). Would you please tell me what it really means?

My sibling brought home a stray cat? I'm deeply allergic to cats?? Why did they bring home a stray cat??????? I'm left with more questions than answers.
#i was at home and she texted that there was a stray cat in the park and i should go get it#of course i said no. because im hella allergic#then i got a text while i was at work from them telling me to grab allergy medicine#because they had brought home the stray cat#so now there's a cat in our bathroom#and its the prettiest cat ive ever seen in my life#but i cant get over the fact that we now have a random cat living in our bathroom#tomorrow or monday we're gonna try to see if it has a microchip#then put word out on facebook and to local shelters#im trying to convince my sibling to keep it but they said we already have too many pets#valid. so im gonna slyly bring it up to our roommate who has no pets and likes cats#anyway thats whats going on in my life rn

Had THE funniest dream last night
#i was roommates with this couple who for some reason decided they were going to bone directly outside the house#like on the front porch more or less#except they were really worried about being seen? so i was kind of keeping a lookout for them#pretty much as soon as they.. began; a legolas cosplayer appeared complete with a camera crew#OH THAT WAS THE THING! my roommates were filming themselves but it was just on a mounted tripod#so i just opened the window and said ‘uhhh do you guys have a camera crew?’ and they looked around and screamed#had to run inside naked from the waist down. i was laughing and laughing#for some reason my next move was to post about this on tumblr but it got no notes and i was impatient so i posted about it on facebook#and TONS of people liked it immediately and then were sharing it and long story short it went viral#and there were random people in the comments saying like ‘oh this is so obviously fake’ and ‘why does she sound so unconcerned?’#because why would i be concerned?? gay sex is legal.. having it where other people can see isn’t exactly legal but they got inside quickly#and the legolas cosplayer and his camera crew didn’t exactly seem traumatised. they just looked confused if anything#also i’d written it in kind of a sarcastic and funny tone to be entertaining because it was honestly an absurd situation#why i would’ve posted this to FACEBOOK where most of my friends are my elderly relatives; ex-coworkers and high school people i don’t know#anyway that was my dream. two guys i vaguely know had four-second sex on my front porch; saw a legolas cosplayer; screamed and ran inside#OH and the other part of my dream was one of my mutuals on here (who i have only spoken to via prev tags) for some reason had my mobile#number and kept trying to call me#i had them in my phone just as their tumblr url even though they have a name and i know it? and for some reason i kept panicking#and rejecting the call and then coming up with spurious reasons for doing so#even though this person was extremely chill about it and was like ‘oh we can just talk another time!’#it made NO sense. i would absolutely speak to this person on the phone if i got the chance#but also why would i give them my number? and why would they be calling me from the states??#anyway. if you need me i’m going to make breakfast and go to pilates#personal

You misunderstand the reason tumblr works: we do not want to be presented with content that is high quality and will keep our attention. This is a blogging website, for casual blogging. We need features that help the casual blogging experience, not the social media experience.
If you add an algorithm to tumblr all you will do is make the user base feel less in control of their content and their experience, which should be your goal. If you try to accommodate everyone, you will alienate everyone. Do not make tumblr more like twitter. Do not make it more like reddit. Do not use other sites as blueprints.
This site is one of the last holding onto a semblance of user-friendliness, and to be more like other sites is to lose that user-friendliness.
You say certain things are confusing to new users. That is a good thing. It should be a learning curve, where they get to learn how to use it and have it be notably different from other sites. This is called individuality and for a thing like tumblr it is so goddamn important.
You will lose so many by assimilating into the expected visual and technical functions of other sites that are hostile toward casual users. I've been here for years, and I will keep coming back as long as tumblr retains the thing I love about it, which is that I can choose what shows up on my dashboard and keep things I don't want to see off of it. There are other ways to keep this site running, you are simply looking for the easiest. You are going to fail if you go the easy route. Please proceed with caution.
#nobody here wants tumblr to die#if new users from twitter dont get it yet they will in time#i dont think everyone at staff understands how important the casual part of this website is#you dont want to cause people to get horrible addictions to tumblr and call it the reason they had to be sent to psychiatric hospitals#people say that about twitter all the time and you really want to be like that?#facebook is an echo chamber of horror and you want to be like that?#stop following what other sites are doing because it makes them more money#because that money comes from advertisers and those sites are advertiser friendly#those sites are not user friendly#there is still a way to keep a user friendly website so do not fall for the proposed need for advertiser friendly features#im not tagging staff but i hope they see this
