I love how neferiously hugh laurie delivered his lines in that 5x1 scene where house is blackmailing wilson. because the dialogue could’ve been conveyed in a manner that was obviously facetious and unserious (like the way RSL was playing the scene: “You’d jeopardise a patient—? 😒🙄) but he literally chose to go “If it keeps you here😈👹” in the most deadass, diabolical tone. so the result is that we have house sounding like a genuine psychopath as he threatens to let a woman die and then wilson proving he’s an even BIGGER one by responding with, like, mild exasperation at best. 10/10 dynamic no notes

2024 reads / storygraph
The Loudest Silence
YA contemporary
a newly Deaf-Hard of hearing girl moves across the country and starts a new school, struggling with navigating her disability and love for singing and lost friendships - determined to not make any new friends for the year she’s in Florida
and a boy struggling with family expectations and anxiety, after being made the fútbal captain even though he secretly ways to be on broadway, who quickly befriends her
bi & aroace-coded MCs
#The Loudest Silence#aroaessidhe 2024 reads#hm this was okay! it’s a sweet and light YA contemporary focusing on friendship and disability.#It’s a little cheesy; and I liked the immediate easy friendship (well; after a few false starts) and how welcoming Hayden's#friend group/family were. I like how they all jumped to learning/practicing ASL.#I liked how Casey was dealing with her newfound Deafness with a lot of positivity - the main frustrations being how other people treat her#but there’s also the underlying isolation and grief. At the same time it didn't go as deep as it could have with that?#The friendship is central to the story - but honestly I feel like Casey and Hayden’s relationship doesn’t develop past ‘they’re friends now#[continues other subplots] - it ends up being a bit telling not showing their friendship. And then she gets a love interest.#I feel like if you’re centering your book on being a platonic love story - rare in YA! - giving one a love interest kinda goes against#what’s supposed to be unique about it? Like it wasn’t overwhelming and I thought it was sweet actually; I just didn’t come here for that.#I always find it a little odd when YA contemporary books don’t explicitly name their aroace characters as aroace -#obviously I prefer an exploration of experiences to just using the word and nothing else; but in this genre; why not both?#considering various other identity labels are used and discussed there were various points where it felt like it was walking circles#around where it would be obvious to say “no I’m aroace” lmao?#And there’s a point where Casey mentions seeing an ace sticker on his guitar - the only reason it wasn’t an aroace sticker is bc#that would have ruined the minor subplot of her assuming he’s gay/dating his other friend. It felt like a slightly odd way to mention it?#but also I guess I appreciate it being evident throughout but also being a non-issue plot wise - while there’s a couple of moments#of people making romantic assumptions about them;for the most part it’s just treated normally for a boy & girl to be friends (as it should!#It does get points for mentioning people watching by conan grey LMAO (not that it really explores him feeling that way specifically;#but I mean same lol)#Overall plot-wise - there were kind of a lot of things going on and it petered out a bit? I wanted some more depth in some areas.#Also I feel like some of the references seemed out of date for current teens haha.#i do love the love for unusual pets (hairless cat and iguana)#aroace books#bisexual books

ive already mentioned before my disdain for "cozy game" style marketing despite how much i end up enjoying a lot of games that are described that way, but I'm really gonna need promotion and journalism to stop describing any game that's not like a running and gunning fighty game a "cozy game" because they're gonna imply that horror puzzle platformer game is like, low stakes and chill despite it very much being not the case. i also dont care for implication that game genres that typically require less fast reflexes and fine motor skills like puzzles, text adventures, walking sims, etc gotta be "cozy" automatically. long time fans of hidden object games etc do NOT want a low stakes story about finding a lost cat or some bullshit they are adults and they want DRAMA and MURDER. the term cozy in games marketing has tooooo much baggage and i feel like im being patronized. i need the games industry to STOP

it feels like a lot of star trek’s interactions with the emmys are almost mocking. like threshold won an emmy, move along home was nominated for an emmy, it’s very funny to me

tell me if you heard this film before: a film that takes place in the 2010s, where a teenager around seventeen/eighteen years old, who is not a fan of the popular crowd and steers clear of it, also suffers from parental issues with one dead parent they were more closer too (bonus points if they saw them die in a car that they're also in) and having a struggling relationship with their other parent. feeling as if everyone is against them, and see them as a freak, outsider, etc and feeling alone until enters someone they never really had a conversation with before, as they start bonding and creating a connection, making them feel less alone and that said teenager starts growing more as a character and we can't help but sympathize for them, even though they have said some out of pocket stuff to other people but that's not the point

not that i'd consider Air you know an indie movie given that its made up of some of the longest standing actors in hollywood but going from Live by Night this studio backed film and then to Air with the set pieces and the color grading and just like the scale is really fascinating to me and i kind really wish Ben gets to do a director cut of Live by Night cos i do feel a lot of it got chopped down in favor of the whole fiasco happening at WB during that time but maaaaan seriously live by night is objectively the "prettier" film

I think you guys are getting "album you think is the artist's best work" and "the artist's most important work" (which is what their Magum Opus is supposed to be) mixed up
