"You're a fighter. You're one of the people who'll make it", is something I've heard a lot. There's a part of me who holds onto life like so hard. Who keeps kicking no matter what. Like even in a black-out-drunken state I drag myself to the psych ward to collapse right in front of the doors like someone who searches shelter in a snow storm because their life depends on it. My therapist finds this remarkable lol but I hate it.
I wish I was someone who gives up. I don't want to continue making the right decisions. I want get up right now, walk to the next gas station, buy a couple bottles of vodka, get on a train and never come back to anywhere. But I don't. And I don't even know why.
I wish I could give up. I wish I wouldn't care. I don't want to be a fighter. Someone else can have the part of me that clutches on to life. I don't want it. I hate myself for being this way. I hate how much I exhaust myself yet keep on going. And I'm tired of being praised for it.

My least favourite type of internet person is the person who claims fanfic is over thousands of years old or whatever. I understand we like to joke but fanfiction is fundamentally tied to fandom culture and is a very specific way of engaging with media. Religious texts based off other religious texts is not fanfiction and it is worrying the only way you can justify your interest is by comparing the two. I promise you you don't have to reinvent the wheel to write fanfic you can just do that but we don't have to say "Shakespeare wrote fanfiction about Richard III", there was not a Richard III fandom in 1592, that was called the divine right of kings.

The Heart and the vessel
Some design and hc notes for them under cut
Inferno is the Nightmare Heart personafied, the true Nightmare King, not an alternate Grimm form
Grimm is the body without heart and Inferno is the heart without body
Inferno can possess Grimm to physically exist, merging body and heart together basically
Grimm's form is more human while Inferno is an amalgamation of patchwork and hard shell
The tail isnt REAL real, it's connected to his ribcage thing
Grimm's head splits open and burns whenever Fern just wants to pop in and say hi because he's annoying like that

"LAYERS OF HELL" across two pages. These are based on Dante's Inferno, the first part of Divine Comedy, and the nine circles of hell. (Shout out to my friend who helped me with the 10 "rooms" of Fraud <3)
Left page:
- Vestibule (unnumbered, right on top of Limbo, referring to the staircase)
I - Limbo
II - Lust
III - Gluttony
IV - Avarice
V - Wrath
VI - Heresy
VII - Violence
VIII - Fraud
IX - Treachery
- There are 10 "rooms" described between Violence and Fraud, referring to the 10 trenches of the eight circle of hell (Fraud) and numbered as such.
Room I reads: whipped.
Room II reads: covered in excrement.
Room III reads: flipped (?) feet set on fire.
Room IV reads: encased(?) in boiled pitch.
Room V reads: head turned backwards.
Room VI reads: wear lead robes.
Room VII reads: snake(?) pit turn(?) into snake.
Room VIII reads: (?) big flames.
Room IX reads: (?) -> quality is too low to tell; considering the trench of which it is based on, probably along the lines of 'mangled', 'mutilated', 'maimed', etc
Room X reads: leprosy, hungry(?), dark.
Right page:
- Endless staircase
- "UPPER HELL" encompassing layers I to IV.
Beside layers III and IV, read: heavy labour(?), everyone in your way
- "LOWER HELL" encompassing layers V to IX.
Beside layers VI and VII, read: trapped, impaled, submerged in blood. Beside layer VIII, read: snake pit, gain human form by biting other humans. Beside layer IX, read: frozen + stuck + chewed on

Left page:
- LIMBO
Right page:
- "DO NOT RING" is crossed out near a bell. Dashed line points to where the bell is on the room.
Tumblr media
Left page:
- Arrow pointing to the claw machine, referencing the passage behind it. Note reads: Back to Doll House. No.
- Circle on the bottom right, just above a door: Wrong way. AVARICE. Everything too heavy.
- GLUTTONY
Right page:
- LUST

i feel like one of the reasons people didn't like heretic as much as they thought they would, is because we got too used to villains being "likable" as people.
in recent horror, human villians tend to be either 1) extremely humanized and given a lot of sympathy/background on why they do what they do. think jigsaw for example 2) a goofy, exaggerated, sometimes supernatural slasher contrasting over the top gore.
so when people see a truly insufferable villain, they dont know what to do with it. it's meant to be uncomfortable when he rants at the girls for hours about how everything they know is wrong. his jokes are meant to fall flat and make him look pathetic. the true horror IS to be trapped by a "reddit atheist", so if you found yourself annoyed at him, it means hugh grant did a good job.
for god's sake the guy keeps women in cages and he based his house's layout on dante's inferno, he wasn't meant to be likable.

I’m thinking about how Wasteland, Baby was a call to action and a tongue-and-cheek acceptance of the end of the world. And how Eat Your Young and Unreal Unearth are about the nine circles of Hell, about the afterlife, about the consequences after death. I’m thinking about one album cover being under water and another being buried under earth, about NFWMB “ain’t it like thunder under earth the sound it makes”, about Unreal Unearth and unearthing something, un-burial, about Like Real People Do “what did you bury before those hands pulled me from the earth.”
I’m thinking Eat Your Young, about Kronos’ mythology, about hunger for and to keep power, about gluttony. I’m thinking about Swan Upon Leda, about the lust Zeus had for Leda, about the greed of man over bodies, about who is the sinner. I’m thinking about angels, about their lack of power in Swan Upon Leda “could never belong to angels”, about their fall from grace in the “Unknown” song “I thought you were like an angel/going unknown as any angel/you called me angel.”
I’m thinking about Hozier.
