whatever the true reason is for Kipperlilly hating Riz specifically, there is something uniquely hilarious to me about the idea of this high strung rogue harboring this pathological, foaming-at-the-mouth-with-hatred, one-sided rivalry with another rogue student for two whole years, and then she shows up to the first day of junior year and gets read for filth by his cleric friend, who goes on the immediately surpass all previous levels of hatred and create a two-sided rivalry that the original rival is just tagging along with because of Friend Duties. absolutely hysterical that Riz hates Kipperlilly out of disdain for the ratgrinders and solidarity with Kristen, meanwhile Kipperlilly's main-character rivalry with Riz was usurped in roughly .5 seconds by Kristen Applebees whipping out "What are you, like, four dogs?"

He then decided to try and save his mother (who earlier betrayed him to joker to cover up her embezzling money) and they both managed to get to the door before finding out joker locked them both inside. Then they got blown up together

“Nyehh!” Grim wails, slamming the front door shut with a bang.

You jump, whipping around to see the cat monster clutching his nose as though someone had punched him.

“Grim? What happened?” you ask, rushing over to your companion.

Grim lets you scoop him up into his arms, whining about something about flowers and pollen before he lets out the most earth shattering sneeze you’ve ever heard. You set him down and he bolts away from the door as fast as his little legs will carry him.

You turn towards the door, curious about what could be on the other side as you reach for the doorknob.

It opens.

You gasp, hands shooting up to cover your gaping mouth.

There are mountains and mountains of flowers on Ramshackle’s front porch, all of varying sizes and shapes and colors. There must be at least fifty bouquets that you can see in the entryway alone, all tied together with shimmering ribbons lined with gold.

Who did this?!

You step out onto the porch to examine the bouquets more closely, and something crunches under your foot. You flinch and jump back, hoping you didn’t step on another beautiful bouquet, but when you look down you find it's only a letter. You pick it up and gently tear open the envelope, unfolding the creamy white paper you find inside. The letter is written in a swirling handwriting written in dark green ink.

Dear Child of Man,

I heard that you like flowers. I hope these bouquets are satisfactory. If you ever require anything, please lean on me.

Ishi does in fact quell Kizuna's anxiety about standing out too much, and feeling silly putting on an outfit(even in dark brown Kizuna feels like its too light). It's just that Kizuna doesn't like it- like a lot of things- and it's difficult for him to even admit it bothers him in the first place since it's not something he can necessarily change about himself, so he just has to make peace with it (Like, a lot of other things.) Ishi's kind of good at making him forget about all of that, though.

re: dimidue, my writing, & fic

it's important to me that dedue also gets to be weird and traumatized and difficult; it's important to me that dedue gets to be supported by dimitri as much as dimitri gets support from dedue

dedue's PTSD manifests very differently from dimitri's, whose trauma and mental illness are very obvious and externalized, but while it may be less obtrusive, "subtler" internalized mental illness is no less difficult to navigate

dedue gets passive-aggressive; he isolates himself and snaps [in the most plausibly-neutral manner possible] at attempts to draw him out; he's prone to insecurity, reticence, and self-abnegation, and to sink into dissociative apathy; he overextends himself trying to care for others as a coping mechanism that gets worse the worse he's doing; he denies that he's anything but fine even as it's increasingly obvious that he absolutely isn't, & to some extent even believes himself

unlike dimitri, who for all his issues is very self-aware about what he's experiencing and why (at least to the extent that he can understand it), dedue is more inclined to denial and avoidance; he's opaque even to himself (in this respect, dimitri's emotional intelligence complements him)

dedue is in some ways even more prone to black and white moral thinking than dimitri. when he's not actively in the midst of an episode, dimitri is constantly conflicted over the morality of his actions. he knows how he gets when his PTSD triggers, and it terrifies him, and he hates himself for it. he tears himself to pieces over it to the point of self-destruction and immobility. meanwhile dedue isn't nearly so passive or unquestioning in his judgment as some people (felix) accuse him of; he wouldn't accept or enable the murder of civilians, but i do think there's an extent to which he sees dimitri going Ape Shitt on the battlefield and goes "yep :) there he is, the man i love :)" the berserker rage worries him to the extent that it affects dimitri, but it doesn't really concern him in its own right. which on the one hand is often something dimitri needs -- someone to affirm, hey, this part of you comes from a good place, it doesn't frighten me, be kind to it instead of beating it/yourself with a stick -- but on the other hand ... mmmmm it is probably not normal for a person to be so blasé about barehanded dismemberment

dedue is a strong stabilizing & affirming influence on dimitri, but by the same token dimitri is a strong activating & encouraging influence on dedue; they are good for each other
