My warlock, Lefirith, got a Lifewell tattoo

max made me a custom tattoo item combining 3 tattoos (eldritch claw, lifewell, and ghost step) so mik only needs one attunement slot for the lot of them. i've decided he's got the combo tattoos on one arm, to balance out the lightning scars he's got up his other arm.

the descriptions of the designs of the three tattoos are as follows:

clawlike forms and other jagged shapes

symbols of life and rebirth

shifts and wavers on the skin, parts of it appearing blurred

so! keeping that in mind, here's a very rough design for mik

thorns for the jagged part and adding to the flower imagery. i think i'd want more thorns/vines in the actual design to balance out the flowers some.

green roses for life, rebirth, new beginnings

goldenrod for rebirth, support and positivity in grief and loss

orange marigolds for the connection between the living and dead, grief, remembrance, a celebration of life's cyclical nature

blue chrysanthemums for death in some cultures, life and rebirth in others, longevity and joy in others, blue specifically for a connection to the divine

lily of the valley for the dual opposing meanings of joy and happiness vs sadness and death

and then the tattoo. y'know. shifts and wavers, appears blurred in places. as per the ghost step tattoo description.

The violent rustling startled G'raha into consciousness. He sat up from his grassy bed, casting his gaze to a convulsing bush. G'raha's vigilant hand reached for the Crystal Staff, magnetizing Spirale's lifeforce into the staff. Aetherical, azure light bloomed from within the myriad facets crystalized head.

Suddenly, a pale, sanguine mass ejected from the bushes. A small rabbit stained with its own blood heaved vigorously to retain its life. G'raha reacted involuntarily, throwing his hands out to capture the rabbit against his chest. He held the gluttering creature within his arms, easing the inevitable anguish.

As the rabbit found respite within the Miqo'te's grasp, G'raha took time to inspect the creature's wounds. Hollowed skin littered its body, foretelling an escape from a predator's clutches. He rested a tender hand over the rabbit and channeled his inward lifewell into the rabbit. Before the healing dressed the rodent's wounds, another rustling startled the healer.

G'raha whipped his head around to spy a youth emerging from the thicket. A tutelar hold maintained the rabbit in place, soothing the creature's escalating fear. "If you are wont to fall ill at the sight of blood, then proceed with caution and advert your gaze, young one."

Quentin got a magic (Lifewell) tattoo at the end of the campaign but never got to use it lolol. I’d like to think now he’s just embracing the ocean vibes he’d get a jellyfish ‘cuz they symbolise love, resilience, survival, faith, and adaptability. Also it’s over his heart because I’d like to imagine it works like a defibrillator if he gets killed.

I play dnd 5e not for fun but for making characters. Specifically min maxing them in extremely stupid ways. Here's my current build for the "most lives guy"

Death cheater 4.0. Dc 40 for short

Race:orc (motm)

Classes:shadow sorc 1, solidarity cleric 8, long death monk 11

Feats:durable, tavern brawler, resilient in con.

Background:knight (there is no background that helps so this is just a good one)

Spells needed for the build:death ward, aura of life

Other:heroic destiny, hollow one, epic boon of immortality, epic boon of perfect health, Charm of 9 lives, epic boon alternatives con 30, symbiotic being, unscarred, demonic boon of orcus, blessing of protection, blessing of wound closure, dragonhide belt, Lifewell tattoo, the orb of dragonkind, dark gift of Dahlver-nar.

That gives us drumroll please *unnecessarily long drum roll* 16+1d8 lives per long rest, 1 per short rest (an extra 1 if we succeed at a dc5+damage taken charisma check as long as it wasn't radiant damage or a crit). 12 in storage. 2 that can be renewed in combat. Advantage on death save where if we roll a 16 or higher we pop back up to 1 and if we fail once per long rest we can succeed instead. Advantage on con checks. Whenever we take damage we take 1d12 less. If we are dying at the start of our turn we are no longer dying. Plus not being able to die of old age. Of the lives we have the amount we have that can be used on an instant death are: 1 that can be renewed (and actually is better against instant death), 12+1d8 per long rest, 9 one of a time, and both short rest ones

I need to make dinner, but my current longest played is a Drow who realized Lolth is horrible at level 6-9ish, and since has been working to take her down for hurting her people. Now she's level 19, a protogod who has already saved the planet and now just needs to worry about saving her people.

She's died twice, the second time she came back a little wrong but even more powerful. She now technically has... six attuned items. Because three of them + her prosthetics became her new body.

Trevor: I think if he makes a pact with an Archfey he definitely picks Hyrsam (a satyr who's known to be musical, clever, manipulative, an anarchist, and functionally immortal), but he might also make a pact with the Fathomless, choosing space as his otherworldly sea. if Hyrsam is his patron he definitely channels that kind of manic chaotic energy, and if he picks the Fathomless then he always comes off as a little eerie but that's because he has the depths of space residing behind his eyes, no biggie. he also takes the pact of the chain and summons either an imp or a pseudodragon as his familiar. he doesn't need an arcane focus but he has an engineer's compass and square when he really needs help. he definitely chafes at the lack of spell slots inherent in being a warlock, but he learns how to use his familiar to the maximum of its ability, and as he gets stronger he picks up a few skills that end up equating to a couple levels in artificer, just to have some more abilities in his back pocket (alternately, he takes the artificer initiate feat).

Matt: Matt finds a book about magic when he's a kid and that's the end of it for him, he Has to learn more. he tries studying a bunch of different traditions, but he ends up pursuing the school of transmutation primarily. he probably uses polymorph too much, but what's the point of magic if you can't have fun with it? (he does pick a couple spells from the school of conjuration to put in his grimoire though: he couldn't pass up the opportunity to learn benign transportation and randomly swap himself with Gavin or Jeremy when they aren't expecting it)

Jeremy: okay first off you know he always reckless attacks. first move in combat 100% of the time is bonus action rage and then take reckless attacks. he also 100% is path of the beast, obviously. three guesses how he became a werewolf ;) (/j)

Gavin: wild magic babyyyy!!!! we all know this man has weirdly high levels of charisma so sorcerer makes sense, and he's so chaotic that wild magic makes perfect sense too. there's not a lot of extra class features to go into, but he does definitely use quicken spell as often as he can and as he gets more powerful he uses a camera as an arcane focus (take 'camera' to be as low or high tech as you want depending on what kind of fantasy you're running).

Lindsay: Trickster domain cleric, 100%. probably has Hermes as a patron deity, though I could see an argument for Loki. icr if Puck is included in any D&D cosmology but they would def hang out with Puck if he is. they also have a talisman from their patron, which they got when they got their powers - not from any temple or anything, they just happened to stumble upon their deity causing chaos out in a field or in the town and they struck up a conversation and Lindsay came out of it with a new deity and spells.

Michael: Michael is Thee paladin. wields a two-handed sword, blessed by Lindsay, and he also takes Blessed Warrior cantrips from their Trickery domain spell list. he's an Oath of Devotion paladin, but specifically it's an oath of devotion to Lindsay rather than devotion to goodness as a whole. he'd turn oath-breaking for them in a second if they changed alignments. he also has magic tattoos: specifically I'm thinking blood fury, eldritch claw, probably masquerade, and maybe lifewell.

Alfredo: he didn't become a monk through the normal route of going into a monastery for a number of years, but instead was taught to fight and meditate in the different groups of travelers he grew up with. he originally wanted to learn way of the shadow, but he tried to do too much too fast and ended up having to take time to study under a master of the way of the open palm to learn energy redirects and other ways of fighting that don't ruin his hands. he also has a spellwrought tattoo Tim attuned to him so he always has access to cantrips he might need when his hands fail him.

Joe: Joe absolutely fits the archetype of the ineffectual arcane trickster rogue: he keeps trying to learn magic and he genuinely does know it, but everything backfires on him. his parents used to say they used to think he was a wild magic sorcerer except that none of his spells actually achieved anything (ouch). the thing is, he is genuinely very adept at using his mage hand and is very dextrous, he's just...not great at the whole stealth or invisibility thing unfortunately. (he is great at combat rolls though)

BK: talk about the ultimate mastermind rogue, BK studies languages and speaks almost every commonly-spoken bipedal creature's language, so when she uses her master of intrigue skill she can pass herself as a native of nearly anywhere. she has crazy high charisma too, obviously, and also studies boxing and open-hand martial arts rather than picking any specific weapon proficiencies.

Ky: I think Ky would be a College of Lore bard, if only because I think she would use Cutting Words all the time (and she'd be right to!). most of her skill is through oration and storytelling rather than music, but she does do some speak-singing while keeping time with a tambourine when pressed. she has glamour, swords, and whispers bard friends though so she picks up skills from a bunch of different areas and uses them at will.

Jack: okay so as a joke I want to say he's actually a beast master ranger lol but let's go with paladin: I think he would take the Oath of the Ancients as an oath to take care of nature; either neutral or lawful good, but either way his main goal in life is caretaking people, animals, and nature above anything else.

we could go into race/ancestry or backgrounds or other details but I spent no joke like 3 hours on this already so I think this is a good stopping point lol

with the help of @heisttheblackflag i'm coming up with a d&d au (loosely based on bg3 obviously) so we have

jeremy: barbarian dwarf

matt: wizard

trevor: warlock, patron is the arch fey

bk: rogue

ky: bard

matt is a nerd about magic and studies so much and knows so much random lore and facts about magic and the weave. trevor is a bit of a freak but everyone just kinda chalks it up to his patron. gavin is learning how to control the magic that surges within him. joe will put an arrow in your throat as soon as light your pants on fire for a laugh.
