The trope that kills me every single time without fail is

Guy goes missing, kidnapped or lost or sick or whatever, they stop showing up. When they come back (or even if they don't) all distraught and roughed up and NO ONE NOTICED THEY WERE GONE

Ouuughhhhhhhh the pain. like ow buddy did you not make enough of an impact on their lives???? That while you were experiencing terrible things and hoping that someone would come and find you that they hadn't even registered that you weren't there!?!?!!?!?

That if you hadn't escaped/gotten better/found your way home that you would have been there for the rest of your life???!?!!??

Anyway I gotta hit some bots with this stick (maybe Swerve, because I feel like I could make the whole Swearth thing worse) because I just want some emotionally PAINED robots

I think the unfortunate thing about MTMTE/LL Getaway and why he's such a guilty favorite for me is that (while he does have some random funny lines and stuff too) I know the only reason I like him so much is that the story he's a part of completely fell to pieces for me. Nothing was selling me on Rodimus's character transformation, and I hated basically everything about how Megatron was framed and how the immense racism/classism against MTOs is barely touched on. So of course when this MTO character who has these strong beliefs that contrast so heavily with the agenda of those people and who was once tortured and imprisoned by a genocidal villain became this big player in the story, I became attached to him. He's one of the few bad guys in that story who feels like a real bad guy in the sense that he has this different philosophy, not just that he's some bad guy. But I know I wouldn't like Getaway so much if what the story was trying to be about and convey actually worked, and that's sad.

I'm sorry, Getaway, you deserved a better story than the one you were in.

It amazes me that mtmte fans hold such contempt for Getaway, because like- alot of them are the same people who like megatron.

They call Getaway a groomer, and depending on how you define that term, yes, absolutely is, he manipulated tailgate into doing something he want.

You know who else did that? MEGATRON! Megatron did that with Damus, and then killed his brainwash victim because he didn't just give up after one conversation.

I genuinely cant see anything getaway did as any worse than the things the main cast did.

A mutiny? Rodimus did that on earth and then abandoned all of his fellow autobots.

Brainwashed people? Chromedome did that to literally THOUSANDS of people ruining their lives forever.

Getaway wasn't in the right, he was clearly someone suffering from mental health issues given he was a child soldier in a world that no longer needed him, after being tortured on a moon for months by a eugenics lawyer, only to learn that the person he was closest to didn't even remember he existed.

Then after he had a crashout due to mr genocide being permitted to walk around carr free as a captain of an autobot ship, rather than like- having rung talk to him, they mutilated his body, sawed his face off, and put him in a torture device in the basement. Is it really ANY SURPRISE he ended up the way he was? Bro needed help, and instead he got left on a ship with some of the worst people imaginable.

I don't just like Getaway, i sympathize with what he went through, and think he wasn't entirely unjustified for most of what he did... during mtmte, the ll stuff was just a massive slide into unhinged

i just fuckin learned that there is a scene in MTME #49 where getaway gets his arms and legs and jaw and voicebox removed (so his mouth is open constantly and he can't close it) and THEN gets restraints put on him which are FORCIBLY PULLING HIS THIGHS APART. WHAT.

I absolutely remember this, this is why I keep talking about how his punishment was by definition cruel and unusual, and ultimately contributed to the mutiny

It was fucked up and I think it should be factored in more!!!
