The world is cruel and unfair. But that doesn't mean that you have to be as well. You have the ability to be better than that. That's what makes people great. Bad people just wanna make their bad day everyone else's problems. I've been cyberbullied, doxxed, and stabbed in the back more times than I can count. Its not going to stop me from being a good person and helping others. Because if I stoop to the same level as those people? They would win, because it would make me just as awful as them, thus making them feel validated in their horribleness. I hope the last year went well for you. That even if by the nature of your human existence, you may not be able to look at it as an amalgamation of joyful moments, and it's probably easier for you to recall the gloomy ones, for hurt often lingers more than joy, I hope you can sit and bring to mind, even a couple of moments that brought you fleeting joy. For isn't that precisely what keeps us going? Momentary bliss in a sea of suffering? Perhaps it was that walk alone in the park in autumn when the cold breeze hit you and you were suddenly reminded of a specific feeling you recall having felt often in childhood, but one that you thought you would never be able to experience again; or perhaps it was that one moment of being surrounded by friends and family, when your stomach hurts from laughing a little too hard at a joke so absurd that you probably wouldn't even be able to explain to someone who wasn't present at that time with you; or perhaps it was that transient proud feeling you get after being able to put a seemingly original idea, you had been mulling over in that little head of yours for months. Whatever it was, I hope you're able to grab onto that feeling whenever every little seemingly insignificant thing starts to pile up and make you falsely believe, even if for a deceiving moment that it is not worth fighting through. I hope the memory of that feeling keeps you going. I hope it makes you realise that there are many more such moments to come in the following year. And I hope when you're thinking of all this you remember that I'm wishing for more such moments for you in this upcoming year and the years to follow. Happy New Year.
