Little Sister Curtis Headcanons

these were inspired by this request and co-created with my pal @a-libra-writes!!

Libra and I came up with the name “Sunshine” because 1) it’s adorable and 2) you can’t tell me that’s not a name that Mom and Papa Curtis wouldn’t have had written down on the baby name list. Her brothers usually call her by her first name, but Sunny also works just fine.

Only about a year gap between Sunny and Ponyboy which places her at around 13 if we’re going based off the book’s events (while ignoring certain plot elements that make me sad, thank you)

Sunny is a bit more like Darry after their parents die; she tries to keep the house clean and take over her mom’s responsibilities. Because if Darry is gonna earn the money, maybe she can help this way. Her brothers worry that she’s growing up too fast and try to get her to take it easy (pots meet kettle!!!). 

Darry tries to take her out to the movies when she gets stressed out even if he falls asleep 10 minutes in. She doesn’t really mind that he dozes off, she’s used to it. It's the thought that counts. 

Soda has her come to work with him sometimes and help out on the cars. “Learn something!” as if she doesn’t learn enough at school. Comes home dirtied and tired of Soda and Steve, complains a bit but she's smiling.

Tags along with Ponyboy to anywhere he wants. They usually go for walks and talk about school and the gang. 

If Johnny is the “pet brother” for the Gang, Sunny is the pet sister and has an interesting relationship with the rest of the boys.

Two Bit is viewed as a “decent” brother figure and he at least knows how to act around a younger sister. Probably the most likely out of the group (next to her actual brothers) to look after Sunny like his own kid sister. There’s no antics you can get up to that surprise him anymore than he’s already used to. 

Steve is a pest to her and gets in the way of spending time with Soda. They have a small rivalry but it’s less tense then Steve and Pony’s relationship for sure. Sunny doesn’t tag along nearly as much so it kinda evens things out. 

Dally and Sunny…..are what I’d describe as a Tom and Jerry dynamic but who's Tom and who's Jerry is always changing. Mutual chaos and the source of that chaos switches depending on the day. Dally is on Sunny’s shit list because he made a comment about her cooking once. Which, to be fair to Dallas, the potatoes in the soup WERE NOT cooked through so he was right, but she still holds a little grudge. It doesn’t matter if he was the only person to actually eat all of it. She scolds Dally for putting his feet on the coffee table, he calls her a brat, she aims the football for the back of his head, he pulls on her hair and purposefully calls her by the wrong name. Laughs like a fiend when she yells “Dallas Winston im gonna knock your head right off!". But she also knows that Dallas would be the first person to knock someone’s teeth out if she needed him to. 

Johnny is her pal and she enjoys his company the most of the Gang. He’s a good escape from the rowdy bunch and he doesn’t cause nearly as much damage in the house as the rest, he helps with the dishes and he laughs at her jokes. She likes him and he likes her and they’ve got each other’s backs.

The Brothers are worried about raising a sister. I mean they know fundamentally that she needs what they do and that for the last 13 years they’ve been doing a good job of looking out for her, but all 3 of them are concerned that they’re not enough for Sunshine. Not only did she lose her parents, she lost her Mom and she doesn’t have anyone who can fill that spot. Mrs. Matthews helps when she can and she’s a lifesaver to Darry when he has questions, but he can’t shake the feeling that Sunshine was robbed of better and stuck with them. 

Darry goes a bit easier on Sunshine than he does with Ponyboy. Part of that is because Sunshine and him are more alike than the other two siblings, so they understand each other better. The other part is that Darry thinks Sunshine is already taking on too much responsibility by trying to replace their mom. 

Darry taught her how to fight when she was like 9 and she’s gotten into good scraps with the Gang, but Darry and the rest are adamant that she stay out of fights because she’s too little. Sunshine is all too ready to toss out that she’s only a year younger than Ponyboy! To which the rest of the boys say, “He’s a kid, you’re a baby”. This in fact does not stop her from fighting when she needs to but she does try her best to stay out of trouble for Darry, especially after their parent’s deaths. 

She loved so much. Darry doesn’t say it nearly as much as he knows he should (and that applies to all his siblings) but he goes out of his way to make sure Sunshine has something special just for herself once in a while. Soda routinely suggests getting her a haircut when he notices her messing with it or hears her one off comment about not feeling pretty or looking nice. Ponyboy tries his best to help her out around the house or with her homework. She knows they love her and she loves them.

Relationships:

Johnny: his cousin whom he loves dearly but has some complicated feeling towards due to words and actions from their youths. He’s ride or die, they may not be joined at the hip anymore but he’ll always be there for Johnny and Johnny will always be there to support his baby cousin

Jimmy: Johnny’s more feral and impulsive twin. He cares about him a lot but is often taken aback by some of his antics. He often feels like he acts like more of an adult then him at times which is really saying something. They’d be the type that would commit crimes with eachother.

Johnny T.: Johnny G.’s partner both in business and romance, he’s been around since Alex was a kid and he considers him a dear childhood friend. He finds him kinda childish and goofy but he’s has a good heart even if he acts kinda dumb. He has committed arson with this man before for the sake of his cousin, they’re both ride or die about Johnny.

Colon: colon was one of the teams roommates when the financial situation was dire, he thinks of him as a friend but they were never really that close. Spooker’s partner.

Spooker: spooker was the first roommate that showed up besides good ole toaster, he was younger than the others but still older than Alex by several years. Alex again finds him kinda goofy and childish but it might have been the stress of him having to grow up too fast talking. All in all he thinks he’s a pretty chill pleasent guy.

Lyris: Alex respects the hell out of her, they have a warriors bond. Alex would consider them old and close friends even if lyris isn’t the type for closeness or emotional vulnerability. She’s saves his ass more times than he can count and the same goes for him. Forged in fire those two

Sai: sai is a person Alex both respects and would seek to learn from. I think he would appreciate his temperament and levelheadedness. He never really got as close to him as he would have likes, but then again he wasn’t that close to lyris or abnur either.

Verandis Ravenwatch: this is a complicated one. Alex has issues with authority, a sorta built in deference to his betters he just can’t shake. So while verandis may have seen him as a peer Alex was struggling with seeing him as a superior. As they got close that then morphed into the uncomfortable feeling of weather on not he had a bit of a crush on him, or if he (god forbid this boy has so many daddy issues) saw him as kinda a father figure. Gwendis: the kinda shithead kid sister he never had. Alex was always having to look out for others before Johnny got custody of him. This is like all of that unhinged sibling energy finally having a place to go. They pull pranks, they tease eachother in a lighthearted way, they care about eachother. It’s not all fun and shenanigans though, he sees her as a capable rogue and someone he trusts to watch his back. In the end alex would die for gwendis and really any of the ravenwatch.

Adusa: adusa fills the older sibling he looks for for approval niche, he respects her and her judgment in often to the degree he can forget to relax around her. Alex desperately seeks validation from those he cares about, he can have a tendency of once again viewing her like his boss. They talk mad shit when his is able to relax though, a pair of real gossips those two. Adusa is also Alex’s preferred sparring partner when he wants a bit more of a challenge.

Fennorian: oh fennorian, he’s head over heals absolutely mad about him. He just can’t get the words out to tell him, and he wants to oh so badly. Besides that he would consider fenn one of his closest friends, it just comes so easy to them. They’re so at ease around each other, the conversation flows naturally, and Alex love having the chance to make fenn laugh with a dumb joke or make him flustered with an off the cuff comment. They really get each other. Alex especially loves sitting in his study sketching while fenn is busy. They don’t even need to be talking, just being in the same room existing is enough.

This morning is one of the milder ones since there isn't a need for a case right now. You and Spencer just got in and joined Penelope, Emily, Kevin, and Derek in the small break room by your desks. Penelope has a newspaper in her hands with a page about horoscopes and zodiac signs.

Spencer is a Scorpio and you're an Aries since your birthday is in April. It's coming up but you're not sure what you want to do yet. Spencer will no doubt plan the perfect evening, so you're not too worried right now. Plus, you've read that Scorpios and Aries are compatible.

"Current influences should turn this day into one with plenty of potential, but avoid the trap of trying too hard. Know your strengths. Rely on them. Confidence, real or pretend, is your magic ingredient," Penelope reads Kevin's current horoscope.

"Confidence. Yes, I like that."

"Ooh, do mine," you grin and bounce over to them.

"When's your birthday?"

"Early April. I'm an Aries."

"Ah, here it is. You prefer to think that if someone hasn't noticed your superior charm, and isn't already thinking about proposing to you, then they aren't worth the effort. Now suddenly, it's you who wants to do the chasing and will really enjoy the feeling of being in pursuit."

"You hear that, Spencer? Better get your running shoes on because I'm going to chase you."

"One of the most compatible signs for Aries is Scorpio."

"It's like you're my soulmate," you joke with Spencer.

Emily flips everyone off, and you laugh at her antics.

"Are you guys ready to gather?"

You turn to see JJ standing there with her hair cut short and looking amazing as ever. Jordan went back to counter-terrorism, allowing JJ to take her spot back.

"Well, look at you, miss thing. First day back and you're all business," Derek chuckles.

"Well, it's either diving right in or confronting my separation anxiety."

"It's tough being away from him, huh?"

"Yeah." You look down and notice a ring on her finger that's gold and sparkly. She notices you staring and holds it up for everyone to see. "It's Citrine, Henry's birthstone. Will and I both got one."

"That's so sweet," Pen gasps.

Penelope heads to her office while the rest of you head to the briefing room to get the meeting started. Right before JJ can enter, you pull her off to the side for a quick chat.

"Listen, Spencer and I were talking and if you and Will ever need a break to catch up with life or just to relax, we're more than happy to take care of Henry."

"I might take you up on that offer," she smiles. You two walk in; you take a seat next to Spencer and she takes her spot at the front. She puts pictures of a woman who is clearly dead onto the screen. "There's been a string of abductions in Olympia, Washington going back nine months. The four women are blond, blue-eyed, and in their early twenties. This morning they found one."

"When were they taken?"

"Nine months ago."

"Was she the first?"

"Yeah."

"She looks almost mummified."

"Not quite. She's embalmed. The time of death is a bit of a question mark right now."

"Where did they find her?" Rossi asks JJ.

"In a state park just east of Olympia. The body was jarred loose during a mudslide. That, plus the abnormal decomposition makes it difficult to know how long she was there."

"It says the victims were abducted about three months apart. He's rotating his victims out. There are gonna be more bodies out there. Wheels up in thirty."

Everyone is given thirty minutes to get their things and head to the private plane, but everyone makes it there in twenty.

"So, if I wanted to embalm a body, what's the process?" Emily asks once you're in the air.

"The blood is drained through the jugular vein and replaced with embalming fluid through one of the two major arteries. It usually takes a few hours," you explain. "You'd need special equipment and training for something like this. Knowledge of the human vascular system would also be a plus."

"Maybe it's a doctor," JJ suggests, "nurse, or a technician who has a background in mortuary sciences."

"Now, there's a major they didn't offer at my school."

"Personally, the whole thing just seems weird to me. Embalming, I mean," Emily says.

"Some people like to look good for their funeral."

"It's not them, though. It's a shell that's been polished and painted. I just want to be cremated."

"The question is why somebody would embalm the body of someone they just murdered. He wants to hold on to them. It's a possession issue. This way they can never leave. Maybe fear of abandonment speaks to his history."

"Eventually, even an embalmed body will decay. Eventually, he'll find himself in need of new victims."

"That explains the abduction cycle--a new victim every three months, which means at least two of the remaining women are already dead."

"What about the third?"

"Her name is Brooke Lombardini. It's been four days since she disappeared following her shift at a local restaurant. We know the odds."

"Ninety percent of all abduction victims are killed within the first thirty-six hours," you sigh.

When the plane landed, you headed to the dump site where they found the first victim along with Derek and Spencer. The rest of them went to the police station to get set up. Detective Ron Fullwood is already on the scene when you arrive. Tracking someone outside is harder than inside because the elements can mess up energies to the point you might not even see them. If the three other victims are out there somewhere, you have to try your hardest to track them down.

"A hiker found a foot protruding from the soil right up here. The whole side of the hill slid down from up there," Ron says.

"You're focusing the search in this area?"

"Yeah, but if he dumped other bodies here, he's got over eight hundred acres to work with."

"Keep your men near the fire road, Detective," Spencer suggests. "One man dragging a body through the woods with a hundred and ten pounds of dead weight isn't gonna get far from the path. That's why a lot of killers dismember their victims. They're easier to dispose of that way."

"You think it says something about the profile? That he didn't chop her up?"

"Possibly, yeah."

You look around the area and focus your concentration on bringing the energy of the dead alive. You walk away from the spot where the first victim was found and stop about twenty feet from it. There is something on the ground reflecting off the light from the sun. With your pen, you pick the item up so you don't touch it and contaminate the evidence.

It's a gold cross necklace. Whoever owns this is nearby, you can feel her.

Through the treelines where the sun shines through, is a mess of energy that can be missed if you weren't already looking for it. You walk over to the area and the energy wisps away as if it's leading you somewhere. The more you follow it, the more it moves until you get to the spot it's taking you to.

"Where are you going?" Spencer asks.

This isn't the energy of the first victim found, it's a new one entirely.

"Someone is buried here! You need to dig over here!" you call out. Everyone gathers around the spot you directed them to and begins to dig. It doesn't take long before a hand protrudes from the ground. Everyone stares at you as if you had something to do with the murder. "I swear I didn't have any knowledge about this victim."

The energy wisps away from the burial site over to three trees and takes the form of the victim. She smiles sadly at you before misting away knowing that she is found and can find her own peace.

"The answer to your question, Detective, is yes, this killer can't dismember these women. He cares for them."

You let local police and crime scene investigators do their job while you, Derek, and Spencer head back to the police station. The mom of the recent victim, Brooke, is begging for the police's help with the hope that she is still alive somewhere. She already has someone on her side helping her, someone named Stanley Usher.

He's a psychic like you. You've met your fair share of psychics, but never anyone as strong as you are. Some only can infer emotions, some of them connect with people's personalities and make lucky guesses, but you've never met anyone who can do exactly what you can do.

When you find out about Stanley, everyone's eyes are on you.

"What? I'm not the only psychic on the planet. I've met my fair share of psychics--not good ones, but psychics nonetheless. Most of them were frauds who only wanted people's money."

"Exactly," Rossi backs you up. "Hope is one thing. False hope is something else."

"I know you thought that about me when we first met, but I'd like to hope you have faith in me now."

"You get lucky," he shrugs playfully.

"I guess you've worked with psychics before?" Derek asks. "You know, prior to Y/N."

"Not by choice."

"There are cases where people believe they've helped. Y/N has helped so much for this team," JJ backs you up.

"She's the real deal. She's proven to me she can actually help. Others don't. When people are vulnerable, they'll believe a lot of things."

If you're going to work this case, you have to know exactly who you're dealing with. You have to meet Stanley to know if he's going to help or if he's like the frauds you've come across. Rossi wants you to be there with JJ, so you three head over there as soon as possible to meet with Sandra, Brooke's mom, and Stanley.

Stanley is standing in the kitchen off to the side. He doesn't seem to notice you or feel your presence, but you definitely feel his. Despite him being a psychic, you can read him like an open book. His reputation has suffered a lot during his life. He has some abilities he can rely on, but not as strong as you can. He was once called a fraud but you don't know how true that is.

"We think the man who took her may have come by her work. A customer or someone she may have talked about," JJ says to Sandra.

"We think this man is a loner. He would dine by himself and make frequent visits, but he's shy and avoids eye contact."

"She got asked out sometimes."

"No, this man wouldn't have asked her out. He wouldn't have had the courage. He would have stared at her and made her uncomfortable."

"I've told the police everything I know. You shouldn't be here. You should be looking into the clues," Sandra urges and pushes a necklace toward JJ that belonged to Brooke.

"Right, like clues from Brooke's necklace?" you ask.

"Yes, ma'am. It's called token object reading or psychometry."

"I know what it's called."

"See, a person's energy makes an impression on everything they touch. It allows me to connect with them. The hard part is interpreting what I'm given. I know she felt weakened, tired, and heavy."

"Can I talk to you for a second?" Rossi asks Stanley. Both you and Rossi go off to the side with Stanely to speak to him privately. "I've been around a little, and I've seen guys like you come into the lives of grieving families."

"Sir, I assure you, that's not what--"

"Listen to me, the last thing this woman needs is some con man giving her unrealistic ideas."

"With all due respect, sir, you may not know what she needs. Your job is to know the perpetrators."

"We're not talking about my job."

"Maybe we should be because there are a lot of people out there who don't believe in what you do, either."

"The only person I trust to do this is her," Rossi gestures to you.

"What do you mean?"

"I'm an empathic psychic."

Just like that, Stanley's demeanor changes at your words. It's like he hates you or something because all you feel from him is disgust and hatred.

"I'm sorry, but I can't work with her. You can either work with me or her, but not both," he says to Rossi.

"No offense to you, but I choose her."

They have some talking to do, so you leave their side and join JJ and Sandra in the kitchen. JJ gets up to answer her ringing phone, and you take her seat so you're sitting across from Sandra.

"Hi, Sandra. My name is Y/N. I'm an empathic psychic and a very good one at that. Stanley refuses to work with me, but it's your decision on who you want on this case. I have credibility and I'd love to help you if that's what you want. I've caught a lot of killers and saved a lot of people. I just want you to think about who you want here."

JJ gets off the phone and looks at you and Rossi.

"I just got a call. They found a third body."

If we're going for everyone's "canon" sign (which canon seemingly means nothing these days, courtesy of DC and their antics. Not to mention the slew of trash writers reconning everything and imprinting their own basis onto characters (but that's a different conversation entirely lol) then sure: Damian is a Leo which makes sense. Raven being a Libra works too.

However, if I’m going off my own personal take, cause this is Tumblr, and that’s what we’re all here for. Then Damian is an in my opinion an Aries with a Leo moon, if I’m gonna get technical. For example the key personality difference are similar, but just slightly different.

Core Being

Aries - The most passionate (I personally find Damian to be more passionate than people give him credit for. But that could be my personal bias. He tends to hold firm in his beliefs and is reluctant to change them and will go out of his way to prove his point. Meaning, he HAS to be right. We lead from the head.)

She mentions the relationship between creativity and pregnancy when talking about the origin of the myths about Venus:

I’m having so many thoughts about this! This makes sense why spiritually we see indications of pregnancy and birth as new opportunities and new cycles. Especially if you’re not pregnant and you have a dream about it! Also shows how the process of creating is usually uncomfortable. Some people spend months on one painting! The learning process is also uncomfortable bc of how many times you have to try before you finally get a technique. Singers taking classes to learn new techniques go through the same!

I can also see the correlation between giving birth and feeling like you HAVE to get a thought or a feeling out creatively and it just consumes you and you can’t think about anything else the same way it feels during contractions like this baby needs to be out NOW!!

The sentence that creation is often preceded by depression is really hitting for me bc I was telling someone this over the weekend!! When my narc mom moved closer and I was now dealing with her antics almost 24/7 I was literally depressed and I couldn’t do the creative things that I would usually be doing. After going no contact with her it felt like I needed to scream or something 😂 Mentally it feels like my brain is able to come up with creative solutions to any problems I have and I've done so many creative things since!

She also wrote that “there was a time when there was no concept of paternity” so I had to look up when it was introduced and I could not find anything lol there’s just so much about paternity law 💀 but anywayyyyy the way I understand it is that before the concept of paternity the whole pregnancy process was only Venus focused in the sense that the focus was on the beauty of the process bc there were no expectations in the outcome. (I’m a lawyer) To me paternity is about ownership and responsibility like is that child yours? Are you claiming them legally? I feel like the introduction of paternity adds more pressure and more focus onto the outcome bc it depends on it. If there is no baby at the end there is no paternity you know?? But the outcome of no baby doesn’t erase the pregnancy/process that a woman just went through.

I can see how this relates to creativity bc when you’re in the creative process just to be in it you’ll be satisfied with whatever the outcome is but when you have rules (personal or institutional) about what a satisfactory outcome is the creative process is not the same bc now you depend on that specific outcome to feel satisfied Lmfao idk if that makes sense but it does in my head!

And I can’t think of processes without thinking of saturn! It makes sense to me that saturn is exalted in a Venus sign (libra) bc they’re both about the process and journey and less about the outcome. When I think of Venus and Libra I think about beautifying things and people like the makeover scene in a movie lol everything has the potential if they go through the process and sometimes that’s the most satisfying part! A lot of times when you’ve been in the process for a long time and you get to the outcome you’re like alright! Cool!…….now what 😅 lmao

taurus: after the eclipse, a taurus moon does you a lot of good and jupiter and uranus continue to inch closer the the perfection of their conjunction in a couple of weeks. taureans aren't known to love change but admit it, you like a good surprise right? expect to be pleasantly delighted, even if some stuff goes a bit amok.

She tended to the gardens with her own two hands, encouraging the ivy to grow all the way up the walls. The libraries, kitchens, and her private studies were filled to the brim with fresh flowers and plants. They spent their evenings reading history together by the fire, practicing new languages, laughing over riddles and antic dotes. It was their perfect little paradise. The storm cloud came in the form of the Croup. It began with a small cough that persisted long enough to make his voice sound less like the sweet tone that soothed her nightmares. When his breathing turned to whistles, the physicians began to set up a separate room to hide his contagious condition, but Claire insisted on staying by his side. It was only when he knew his dying breaths were approaching that he whispered his final wish to her; love again, marry again, but be greater and be remembered so that history will love her just as much as he did. Chapter 1: While everyone was at Lal Qila...

In the months after his husband's passing, Claire grieved in the walls of Inverness Castle. The town surrounding it was silent, as well, mourning with their dear princess. It was the support of her people that made Claire realize that she could, possibly, gain support to win herself the crown over her eldest siblings. Only then would James's request to be remembered throughout history would be honored. When her father, at last, found his eternal rest, the conflict began.

After The Reckoning:

Thankfully, the conflict did not last long when her and her three siblings agreed to create the Royal Regency of four regents together. It worked out, seemingly, perfectly; keeping peace with her family while also honoring James's final wish. Claire vowed to her siblings that she would never marry again, as to maintain the regency they shared, but she's far too smart to see they were headed down a dark path. In her mind, the only solution is to create a constitutional monarchy... the same government as their greatest enemy; France. Surely, without it, the conflict would arise again between her and her family, would it not? And so Claire has to find a way to end a generations-old feud in order to save her family from ruin.

TLDR: Claire is 100% a flower child, vegetarian, plant mom who loves learning and using big words (she's the type that would read your text, correct your grammar, and then go "sorry, I had to") and loves her family and country, willing to do anything for them. Thankfully, the match her family made for her was actually PERFECT?? Laird James Forbes was a bookworm with a pollen allergy who loved to listen and she LOVED HIM. They lived in a literal pink castle for about 10 months before he died of the Croup. His final wish for her was to love again and for her to be remembered so that history will love her as much as he did. Now, after a year and some months since he died, the system of the four royal regents has offered her an opportunity to always be remembered... but also to never marry again, so that she will always hold James in her heart. But it won't last forever, and Claire knows that. France seems to be doing fine with their constitutional monarchy, so now she must find a way to make peace with them in order to adopt their government and save her family.

Finding people you feel comfortable with is a blessing, having them stay by your side is what Heaven is supposed to be like. “Thank you?” you offer, still a bit in a daze. Saeyoung laughs softly and in three long steps, he’s in front of you.

He crouches on the floor so you can tower over him. The hand that you were drawing with is suddenly taken by his, his cold fingers softly grazing your skin with such tenderness you’d think you’re the most fragile thing he’s ever held. 

“Wanna get something to eat later?”

You nod and he scrunches up his nose in happiness. You poke the tip with your finger and he laughs softly, making you smile widely.

A warm, easy feeling swirls inside your chest, and you hope it never goes away. Saeyoung looks up at you with his hazel eyes full of adoration, and you rest easy― this was definitely meant to last.
