If you got some money to spare, might as well use it for good
Today I want to thank each and everyone who is donating, supporting, reblogging, reposting, boosting and contributing to the wellbeing of lgbtiq folks who are stuck in the refugee camp right now. You are literally saving innocent souls from suffering and starving 🙏🏾🙏🏾
It is very difficult to be a queer refugee and living in a refugee camp at the moment. There is no food, nor water. Services like healthcare and medical assistance have been suspended. For people living with HIV, it is a catastrophe!
We Need more voices out there to try and alter these series of unfortunate events and unimaginable dire situation 😞😔🥺
A Special thanks to everyone who is doing everything you can to assist and support us.
Please we still urgently requesting more of your support and donation to assist us during this horrific situation as we're in another battle of unfolding a fight for survival in the face of dwindling food rations , chronic water shortages and deteriorating living conditions in the refugee camp 😔😞😔has the world has turned a blind eye and now the lgbtiq refugees are in critical crisis condition as for too long the suffering of certain group especially lgbtiq folks was dismissed by those who believed their struggles were exaggerated 😔😞😞
As the sun sets over the dusty kakuma refugee camp , the chants continue , the people of kakuma have now spoken as the world must decide wether to listen .
This story captures the urgency and gravity of the situation while highlighting how starvation has become a universal crisis affecting not only lgbtiq individuals but all refugees in East Africa Refugee Camps due to cut off funds from USAID and WFP 😞😔
Please try to consider our situation as lgbtiq refugees and spare anything even if it's little to take part inorder to save innocent brave lgbtiq souls suffering and stucked in East Africa Refugee Camps 🙏🏾🙏🏾 just know that your donation is worthy however much it's little it can make asense and areal impact on lives of starving lgbtiq folks 🙏🏾🙏🏾

Urgent Call for International Support: Rescue LGBTIQ Refugees Trapped in Kakuma Refugee Camp, Kenya!
Today, I come to you with a pressing matter that requires our collective attention and immediate intervention. In the Kakuma Refugee Camp, located in Kenya, hundreds of LGBTIQ individuals are facing unimaginable hardships, persecution, and discrimination, solely based on their sexual orientation or gender identity.
It is heart-wrenching to witness these brave souls, already fleeing persecution in their home countries, enduring further torment in the camp. The camp's conditions are dire, and the discrimination against LGBTIQ individuals exacerbates an already challenging situation. These vulnerable refugees and asylum seekers are subjected to violence, harassment, sexual abuse and even death threats, with little to no protection or support system in place.
As human rights defenders/advocates for equality, justice, and human rights, we cannot stand idly by while our fellow human beings suffer. It is imperative that we raise our voices and demand the immediate intervention of the international community to rescue LGBTIQ refugees/asylum seekers trapped in Kakuma Refugee Camp.
First and foremost, we must call upon the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) to prioritize the safety and well-being of LGBTIQ refugees in Kakuma. The UNHCR must take immediate action to ensure the provision of protection from violence against LGBTIQ asylum seekers/refugees in kakuma, Kenya.
We must also urge governments across the globe to extend their support in resettling these individuals to safer countries. It is crucial for countries to step up and provide assistance to those who are most vulnerable.
Additionally, we must mobilize civil society organizations, human rights activists, and influential individuals to raise awareness about this issue. By shedding light on the plight of LGBTIQ asylum seekers and refugees in Kakuma, we can put pressure on governments and international organizations to take immediate action.
Let us remember that our strength lies in our unity. Together, we can create an unstoppable force for change and rescue these individuals from the horrors they face. Join me in this urgent call for international support, and let us ensure that no person is left behind.

HELP
so i was just contacted by someone who lives in the kakuma refugee camp, they contacted me letting them know what the conditions are like for the LGBTQ+ people in the camp and the conditions are horrific for them. They experience police brutality, torture, persecution and other terrible things because they are queer or trans.
There are lesbians who have to sell their bodies basic needs such as food due to how terrible it is over there. While i may not know every detail of the situation i am still determined to raise awareness about the situation. I know i am not going to be heard by all butif at least one person reads then that is one person more who is aware.

Stand with Queer Refugees in Africa: Peter's Story
Survival Funds for LGBTIQ'S Refugees
My name is Pablo , and I am an LGBTIQ leader and representative here in an emcampment, where we have faced a great deal of homophobia in this environment, including from fellow refugees.
Unfortunately, UNHCR staff, including medical attendants, are homophobic to us and don’t provide services to us. This has been reported several times to the people responsible but help has been in vain. Thus, seeking support from fellow LGBTIQ organizations and individual well-wishers to attain medication from private hospitals in the camp has been difficult.
Additionally, food provided to us, as distributed at present by the UNHCR, is not enough to sustain us for a month which is in a ratio of 1:2 beans and Rice.
Thus, we are seeking support to overcome scarcity and hunger.
We will be very glad to receive any positive feedback in terms of financial help, advice and advocacy support!
Many thanks.
life at the refugee camp is extremely hard for the LGBTQI community since from 2019 when I fled to 2024 due to rampant HOMOPHOBIA within the camp. This was witnessed through daily attacks by homophobic fellow refugees and the co-host community.
LGBTQI refugees live under great fear whereby we're being targeted by the homophobes; this has resulted in severe injuries where these homophobes ambush when armed with machetes. Over time, property has been also lost and even lives where we lost three of our mates in kakuma before I left there. This was witnessed in the recent attack when two LGBTQI refugees were set on fire where they suffered third degree burns, which resulted in one losing his life while the other is on life support in hospital update.
In addition, sexual harassment has also been witnessed here in refugee camp to the LGBTQI community. Lesbians on several occasions have been raped not once but twice. Beyond any reasonable doubt, this has made the most hostile land for LGBTQI community.
Furthermore, the LGBTQI community lives under great suffering due to the fact we are willing to work to earn a living but fail to get employment opportunities due to our sexual orientation. This has made life so much harder for us minority group, being marginalized amidst these arid areas of camps. We have faced various attacks from homophobes and also illness related to poor standards of living.
Even so, despite all the misery, we try to find some time to kill the stress when celebrating official LGBTIQ days and festivals. Below is when we celebrated the Pride Day and also had some couples officially get married while maintaining a low profile.
Please help and support us to overcome our starvations, get good medications and shelters because as we are now we daily face the same obstacles while sleeping out side😭.
Yours only our hopes.

A JOURNEY OF SURVIVAL: MY LIFE AS LGBTIQ REFUGEE IN EAST AFRICA🌈
Hello, my name is AshleymilesPhil, 21years old and I’m a queer refugee originally from Uganda. This is my story, but it’s also the story of hundreds of LGBTIQ refugees who have been persecuted, abandoned, and left fighting for their lives simply because of who we are.
Growing up in Uganda, being queer was not just dangerous—it was life-threatening. Uganda’s laws and society are brutally unforgiving to anyone who dares to live openly as LGBTIQ. In constant fear of violence, I had to flee, leaving behind my home, my life, and everything I knew.
My journey first took me to Kakuma refugee camp in Kenya, a place I hoped would offer refuge. But the reality in Kakuma was anything but safe. LGBTIQ refugees there are regularly targeted for physical violence, harassment, and discrimination. We were left vulnerable, isolated, and without support. The camp, rather than being a sanctuary, became a place of daily survival.
Eventually, I found myself in Gorom camp in South Sudan, hoping for something better, but the challenges only deepened. South Sudan’s laws are even more hostile toward the LGBTIQ community. Starvation, lack of medical care, and persecution are daily realities here. Many of us in the camp are living with HIV/AIDS and can’t access proper medication. The physical and emotional toll is overwhelming, but we continue to fight for our right to live, love, and simply exist.
Our lives in these camps are on the line every single day. We are not just struggling with a lack of food, water, and healthcare; we are fighting for our very existence against systems that dehumanize us.
We need help and support .The world needs to know what we are going through. My fellow LGBTIQ refugees and I are in desperate need of support to survive these unimaginable conditions. We are asking for your kindness, your solidarity, and if possible, your support. Even a small contribution can make a difference in our fight for survival.
Consider donating to our Gofundme fundraiser
Thank you for reading, sharing, and supporting us in our time of need. Your compassion can bring hope where it’s needed most.
Your support can save lives, provide food for the starving, and offer crucial medical care for those living with HIV/AIDS. We need the world to stand with us against the persecution and injustice we face every day.

Even now, in the 21st century, a rising, hate-filled bigotry reaches into the past and has revived the cruelty of archaic, Bronze Age laws.
The Weaponization of Laws— In Africa, 31 countries have criminalized consensual same-sex sexual activity, despite it being a clear violation of human rights. Amnesty International is calling on African states and governments to comply with international or regional human rights laws and basic principles of human dignity and equality. “Across Africa, LGBTQ persons find themselves contending with a disturbing regression of progress. ...Arbitrary arrests and detentions have become all too common, treating the mere act of being oneself as a criminal offense. In some places, the death penalty looms as a terrifying spectre, a brutally unjust punishment for simply being who they are. We face what can only be described as a deepening crisis of homophobic lawfare.” said Tigere Chagutah of Amnesty International.

Bishop asks Trump to Show Mercy to LGBTQ People and Migrants @ashleymilesphil, an African lgbtq refugee, puts the Bishop’s call for mercy into perspective: "The recent plea from a U.S. bishop asking President Trump to show mercy to LGBTQ migrants is a powerful reminder of the critical need for compassion and humanity in addressing the struggles of queer communities worldwide. While this call is directed toward the United States, it resonates deeply with us LGBTQ refugees in East Africa who face unimaginable persecution simply for existing. "In our countries, being LGBTQ is illegal and often punishable by imprisonment or death. We live under constant threat not only from the law but also from hostile communities, violent attacks, and systemic discrimination that leaves us without shelter, healthcare, or basic human dignity. Many of us were forced to flee our homes and families, only to find that refugee camps like Kakuma and Gorom offer no true sanctuary. Here, we are silenced, beaten, and in some cases, killed for daring to be ourselves. "We urge the global community, including faith leaders, activists, and allies, to amplify our voices and call for justice. Mercy is not enough if it does not come with action. We need decriminalization, protection, access to basic services, and the chance to live without fear. "Please do not forget us LGBTQ refugees in East Africa who are still crying out for solidarity. We need your voices to speak up for us. "Together, we can call on governments, organizations, and individuals to move beyond mercy to meaningful action. Let’s strive for a world where no one is criminalized for love, and every LGBTQ person, no matter where they are, has the right to live in freedom and dignity." Signed, ~LGBTQ Refugees in East Africa Please consider showing support for the refugees in East Africa by donating at the link below. They may be thousands of miles away, but we, all of us, are bound together by our humanity, not by our proximity. Every single donation, no matter how small, helps.
If you can't donate, please consider sharing this post on your blog. Because Human Rights do not simply arise by themselves. They spring from actions, and the will of individuals, like us, to make them happen. My sincere THANK YOU for taking the time to read this. And perhaps now is a good time for those of us not living in fear, to feel a moment of quiet gratitude.

‼️ URGENT ‼️
Ashely Phil has reached out to me to share this video!
Although groups are being sent to Canada, they still need resources like food and water, medicine, tents, mosquito nets, repairs (especially because of the destructive rainy season), warm clothes and suitcases, etc. It is dangerous for the LGBTQ+ community, since the environment is so hostile and hate crimes are common.
Please consider donating, and please share!

As an LGBTQIA+🏳️🌈, I bear witness to the horrifying police brutality that unfolded before my very eyes, along with my fellow LGBTQIA+ advocates, freedom fighters, and refugees in Kakuma refugee camp. It was a day we had come together to celebrate our pride, a moment of unity and empowerment during Pride Month. However, what transpired shattered our sense of safety and belonging. In the midst of our joyful pride party, the police forcefully invaded our presence, displaying an alarming disregard for our rights and humanity. Our small tent house, adorned with rainbow flags symbolizing our pride and resilience, was ruthlessly torn down. We, the members of the LGBTQIA+ community, were subjected to brutal beatings by those who are entrusted with the duty to protect us, but who instead exhibited violent, homophobic, and transphobic tendencies. This appalling act served as a stark reminder that within Kakuma refugee camp and Kenya at large, there is no place for us. Even the officials who should be safeguarding our rights have become perpetrators of violence and discrimination against the LGBTQIA+ family. We pose no threat, for we bear no weapons and have not inflicted harm upon anyone. Yet, we are continually targeted by the refugee community, subjected to brutality, torture, persecution, discrimination, and social stigma solely due to our sexual orientation and gender identity. The conditions we endure in the camp are unbearable, pushing us to exist in a state of constant fear, insecurity, and suffering. We are forced to live in a primitive and inhospitable environment, stripped of our dignity and denied basic human rights. This relentless adversity places an immense burden on the LGBTQIA+ asylum seekers and refugees in Kakuma refugee camp, compromising our very survival. Therefore, I implore all those who champion human rights and stand against injustice to join forces and provide us with international support. We call upon activists, organizations dedicated to protecting LGBTQIA+ rights and lives, and the global community at large to unite as one, advocating for our freedom from the confines of Kakuma refugee camp. It is evident that this camp will never be a safe haven for us.We desperately need your unwavering support and solidarity. Ignoring our plight is not an option; it is through your intervention and collective efforts that we can secure our liberation. Together, let us work towards a world where every LGBTQIA+ individual can thrive, free from persecution and discrimination. Our lives and well-being depend on it..wish we find your support and solidarity on the less fortunate, thanks
