Life is Beautiful, Lana del Ray
My argument against God was that the universe seemed so cruel and unjust But how had I got this idea of just and unjust? A man does not call a line crooked unless he has some idea of a straight line. What was I comparing this universe with when I called it unjust?
I will take a crowbar and pry out the broken pieces of God in me
Gods are stubborn. So am I
Why are they all trying to make me into a saint. Oh God! Oh God! I want to do things. Stop turning me into a saint.
But who prays for Satan? Who, in eighteen centuries, has had the common humanity to pray for the one sinner that needed it most?
She decides God is no good, but he must exist. He must exist so she can hold him accountable
Every angel is terrible. And yet, alas, I welcome you, knowing about you.
My God, my God, whose performance am I watching? How many people am I? Who am I? What is this space between myself and myself?
Just and Unjust, C.S.Lewis// The Civil War, Anne Sexton// Grief Lessons; Four Plays, Euripides//Journal, Andrei Tarkovsky// Mark Twain// The Echo Sounder, Ada Limon// Duino Elegies; “The Second Elegy,” Rainer Maria Rilke//The Book of Disquiet, Fernando Pessoa

"Hybris und Nemesis" von Rainer Mausfeld. Rezension
Dennoch findet…

Hi!! Would you happen to have any recs for good retellings of Greek myths? A lot of books I've seen recommended are usually not up to the mark and I trust your taste!
In terms of contemporary fiction retellings, I don't have much to offer; the few I've picked up were always a let-down, and some older ones too (I goddamn hated Mary Renault's). I do have some favourites in poetry or in older books, but they're usually fairly transformative; and I like picking up different translations of the same ancient texts (especially with plays); they offer a new eye on the text every time, and it's usually a more interesting eye than what's huh... going on with the chain-making of Greek retellings going on these days. What I'm interested in is seeing the same story being spun differently again and again. Oh, okay, there are two that I'm excited to pick up though I haven't: Ali Smith's Girl Meets Boy and Chigozie Oboma's An Orchestra of Minorities; but I can't say anything on them yet. Anyway, a short list of options! Alice Oswald, Memorial Rainer Maria Rilke, Sonnets to Orpheus Anne Carson, Bakkhai (verging on adaptation translation) Anne Carson, Antigonick Anne Carson, Autobiography of Red Anne Carson and Rosanna Bruno, The Trojan Women Jean Anouilh, Antigone Jean Giraudoux, The Trojan War Won't Happen Jean Giraudoux, Electra Sarah Kane, Phaedra's Love Jean Racine, Phèdre Jean Paul Sartre, The Flies Bernard Shaw, Pygmalion Seamus Heaney, The Spirit Level C. S. Lewis, 'Till We Have Faces Christa Wolf, Cassandra Louise Glück, Meadowlands Louise Glück, Averno Gregory Orr, Orpheus and Eurydice: a Lyric Sequence
I hope you enjoy these!

Rainer Maria Rilke 《Letters to a Young Poet》
Charlie Louth (Translator)
PENGUIN BOOKS LTD.
The Love and Death of Cornet Christopher Rilke/ Letters to a Young Poet
Rainer Maria Rilke (1875–1926) studied literature, art history, and philosophy in both Munich and Prague and is often considered one of the German language's greatest twentieth-century poets. His two most famous verse sequences are the Sonnets to Orpheus and the Duino Elegies; his two most famous prose works are Letters to a Young Poet and the semiautobiographical The Notebooks of Malte Laurids Brigge.
Charlie Louth is a fellow at Queen's College, Oxford, where he lectures in German. He is the author of Hölderlin and the Dynamics of Translation.
Lewis Hyde is the author of the hundred-million-copy bestseller The Gift. A MacArthur fellow and former director of undergraduate creative writing at Harvard University, Hyde is a fellow at Harvard's Berkman Center for Internet and Society. He lives in Cambridge, Massachusetts, and Gambier, Ohio.
Rainer Maria Rilke’s powerfully touching letters to an aspiring young poet.    At the start of the twentieth century, Rainer Maria Rilke wrote a series of letters to a young officer cadet, advising him on writing, love, sex, suffering, and the nature of advice itself. These profound and lyrical letters have since become hugely influential for generations of writers and artists of all kinds, including Lady Gaga and Patti Smith. With honesty, elegance, and a deep understanding of the loneliness that often comes with being an artist, Rilke’s letters are an endless source of inspiration and comfort. Lewis Hyde’s new introduction explores the context in which these letters were written and how the author embraced his isolation as a creative force. This edition also includes Rilke’s later work The Letter from the Young Worker.  For more than 80 years, Penguin has been the leading publisher of classic literature in the English-speaking world. With more than 1,700 titles, Penguin Classics represents a global bookshelf of the best works throughout history and across genres and disciplines. Readers trust the series to provide authoritative texts enhanced by introductions and notes by distinguished scholars and contemporary authors, as well as up-to-date translations by award-winning translators.
