*cracks knuckles* well,
ed’s obviously something of a legend as a crewrunner, capable enough at sleight of hand and cultivates a very deliberate image of his capacity as a hitter even though it’s not his favorite role—ive got a post from maybe last month somewhere noodling around with his relationship to the grift (i imagine him having an issue with acting similar to sophie’s, but in the opposite direction: he can’t do it unless he feels like there’s an element of fundamental truth-telling involved about himself, so his ability to play roles designed for the mark to feel negatively towards becomes diminished as he unlearns his self-hatred)
he’s a pro with the technical side of b&e but struggles with justifying his right to be there if he gets caught out. this also develops with time as he becomes increasingly confident in his right to be, more generally.
stede doesn’t know how to do a character that isn’t over-the-top. he’s a very good grifter if over-the-top is what the con needs, but his utility more commonly lies in his insights on how a rich mark will operate, the bureaucracy, the social conventions, white collar culture etc etc. harry wilson stuff.
he doesn’t have the physical tactical prowess to be a career hitter, but he also doesn’t go down very easy. surprisingly good at sleight of hand, especially after instruction from ed, but not particularly stealthy. would get stuck in a vent shaft. NOT A GOOD HACKER.
lucius has a lot of thief-adjacent skills but altogether dislikes solo field work. he’d especially like to be as far away as possible from jobs where a hitter is even necessary. his strategy for escaping difficult situations is to simply not find himself in them in the first place but, on the occasion he does, he actually thinks pretty well on his feet. he just hates having to do it.
pete is a plant. pete is the guy who wins the streetside shell game lucius is running to show onlookers it’s totally possible and they all totally have a shot at the money. i think both he and lucius could excel at the kind of online credibility generation and trend manipulation that breanna and hardison do, or at least the creative aspect. i don’t think pete is good with computers. i think lucius is good with computers but doesn’t draw attention to it, because being underestimated has put him at certain advantages before, but also because staring at a screen all the time gives him migraines.
ive previously considered using computer programming as a modern-day analogue to the literacy gap among crew members, and im still keeping that in my back pocket, but im starting to reconsider its use here, bc i think frenchie would be so so great with digital scams. quite frankly i dont know enough about computers to elaborate on the rest of it but he strikes me as the kind of person who knows exactly how many brackets he has open at any given time. phishing he’s definitely outstanding at, and more generally he’s very good at knowing how to communicate with a variety of different marks in ways that reliably come across as credible, relatable, authoritative, whatever the situation demands.
one of the rarer skills he has is the ease with which he adapts to whatever team is on hand—he’s very good at working out what a given crew member’s greatest strengths are and coordinating things so they can take as much advantage of those strengths as possible.
he can shimmy through a vent like it’s nothing, but he’s not as stealthy as jim. good at forging signatures, better at forging documents. don’t ask him to pickpocket unless you’ve got a second person whose job is specifically to distract the mark while he does it.
i remember seeing a clip of samba schutte discussing the backstory he’s created for roach, and one of the elements that stuck with me and i think could apply well here is roach going out of his way to learn skills that make him extremely valuable to a crew as a means of self-preservation. this might not mean honing in on particularly indispensable roles as it does in canon, since in leverage you tend to get every given crew member being specialized in something important, but i think when roach catches himself being significantly outmatched in a skill by anyone else, he makes developing his proficiency in that area a priority. so he’s got all kinds of stuff under his belt, safecracking, lifting, cybersecurity, etc, he knows how to lead a mark around, and he throws a pretty decent punch. unarmed combat is a weak point of his, but he’s a lot like parker in that he’s very good at navigating his way from point A to point B regardless of structural or human obstacles as quickly as possible, especially with a taser. tbh i’d really like to see an early-seasons parker interact with him.
jim is similarly difficult to divert, and they do make a good hitter, but they’re a little awkward on the grift. they and olu are a very very effective team because they complement each other’s weak points. olu’s fantastic on the grift, especially when he’s got a good handle on as many contingencies as possible. he’s also great with picking locks and cracking safes, being more inclined to the careful patience they require than jim, for whom patience is a professional skill they must grudgingly maintain. if jim is confronted with a safe and olu’s not with them, they’re gonna grab it and run.
sorry i just realized how fucking long this is getting these are maybe 10% of my thoughts about this none of it really answers your question and i didnt even cover everybody. FUCK

i think most people can generally agree that some sort of questline or raid or dungeon or what have you involving gelmorra the precursor city state to gridania would in fact. be rad as hell. but i have been sitting and thinkin on 'what exactly i would like to see from a gelmorra' thing beyond just a story tackling the duskwight thing and *vaguely waves hand*
and i think i've pared it down to a few elements.
it should take place in the ruins of gelmorra in some capacity. i wanna see what this underground and decaying lost city looks like with all the vague cosmic horrors that are often implied about the place.
gelmorra should in fact, be haunted AF. gridania as a whole is pretty haunted in general with all manner of ghostly apparitions spirits and what have you. the haunted mansion dungeon you tackle for the mq is stationed in gridania, and a lot of its later dungeons are haunted with all manner of voidsent. and well gelmorra shouldn't be the cause of all of that activity, i do think it would be striking to have gelmorra be heavily concentrated with those kinds of apparitions and otherworldly madness.
i would like one of the plots main focuses to be on who specifically ended up trying to stick around in gelmorra and became the ancestors to the modern duskwight. namely, it was elezen nobility that were the ones trying to keep the whole enterprise going, and it was from that nobility that the modern duskwights emerged when it proved untenable to maintain gelmorra after everyone else left. and thats fascinating when contrasted against their modern reputation as deceitful thieves living at societies outskirts and generally distrusted across all of eorzea. so in a hypothetical story about gelmorra and duskwights, a good way of interrogating that history and modern relation would be in a group of antagonistic duskwights seeking to reclaim that past glory, a way to complicate the affair with poor disenfranchised duskwights looking to rebuild a fantastical utopic vision of a past grandeur to improve their lives being exploited by duskwights seeking to achieve their own supremacy and noble privileges once more. hell the resolution could even be centered on leverging a wedge between the noble idealism and cynical exploitation parts of the antagonists leading to allying with half of the duskwights to stop the mad ambitions of the other half.
the plot should involve an astos expy in some form. for those not in the know, astos is a dark elf king who appears in multiple final fantasies but primarily the older ones. now, given astos is a dark elf and the duskwight are ffxiv's expy for dark elves in final fantasy context [see also, astos being blue and blue being a primary skin colour option for duskwight], i think it would make sense for any story focused on the duskwight in some form to involve astos in some form. the last king of gelmorra perhaps whos own past machinations are effecting the present day, or maybe even just that the duskwight antagonist group is led by astos whos leveraging his followers good will and idealism to serve his own ambitions of tyranny.

In Bloom by Nirvana. It was on the classic rock station when I was in the car.
Currently reading:
Beach Read by Emily Henry. Really love the author and highly recommend Book Lovers as well.
Currently watching:
Finished The Fall of The House Of Usher by Mike Flanagan yesterday (highly recommend) and am currently making my way through the BBC Musketeers on Prime Video (with the odd episode of Leverge every now and then).
Currently obsessed with:
The Fall of The House Of Usher. The storytelling is top-notch and Rahul with an undercut and tattoos is just what I needed at the moment. A good way for Flanagan to exit Netflix and I'm interested to see what he does over at Amazon Prime. Also all the layers of Poe references throughout the miniseries was really ingenious and well done. I could also do a TEDx talk about how Mark Hamill was brilliant and Mary McDonnell was criminally underused in the series as well.

I find games often devolve into freeform RPs when the mechanics of a game prove a poor fit for the story the players and GM find themselves trying to tell— a lot of D&D games fall into this simply because people have wildly incorrect beliefs that D&D is a 'one size fits all' system and they've asked Reddit for homebrewing options to do their steampunk western in 5e rather than look for something designed for steampunk westerns. And because there's such a fundamental disconnect between design and goal, you roll less and less and consult the rules less and less because D&D fundamentally isn't designed to give you a satisfying high-noon standoff, a train chase, or a saloon brawl, and the techno-steam skin you've slapped on D&D's already idiosyncratic Vancian magic feels hopelessly mismatched, and you can put a big black hat and a mustache on a Tarrasque but at day's end 'Lair Actions' just don't feel right for a corrupt local sheriff and his posse of goons whose "lair" is the clapboard back room of a brothel. Best RPG I was ever in was a Lancer campaign, but as the years went on we touched Lancer less and less because outside of the robot fights we kept negotiating ourselves out of fighting, the mechanics gave us nothing to play with in the complex social/political/intra-party stories we were telling and loving (and that the worldbuilding is seemingly designed to encourage, but that's a different gripe)—indeed, the mechanics of Lancer were sometimes an active impediment to anyone having fun. You'd roll for the first time in several sessions, and be cross that the result was so mechanically unsatisfying, or worded so specifically that its use cases made it pointless. The "game" because an RP session because the mechanics didn't engage the players in furthering their own stories and sense of play. Whereas the Fantasy Flight Star Wars games I've run use a cumbersome, messy, hair-pullingly unituitive system - but when it clicks with my players they fucking love not just rolling dice but building their dice pool, leverging every square inch of their character sheets—skills, talents, past experiences, inventory, cunning schemes—that make roles tenses, engaging, fun, wonderful. It's not great at selling its full self to players (I think its a failing of density and layout from an editing standpoint), but man the parts that click really click, and I've had players with no TTRPG experience have a great time both RPing and getting into the mechanics of the system - because the mechanics, the system, and the story we're telling all align.
I think a lot of folks in indie RPG spaces misunderstand what's going on when people who've only ever played Dungeons & Dragons claim that indie RPGs are categorically "too complicated". Yes, it's sometimes the case that they're making the unjustified assumption that all games are as complicated as Dungeons & Dragons and shying away from the possibility of having to brave a steep learning cure a second time, but that's not the whole picture.
A big part of it is that there's a substantial chunk of the D&D fandom – not a majority by any means, but certainly a very significant minority – who are into D&D because they like its vibes or they enjoy its default setting or whatever, but they have no interest in actually playing the kind of game that D&D is... so they don't.
Oh, they'll show up at your table, and if you're very lucky they might even provide their own character sheet (though whether it adheres to the character creation guidelines is anyone's guess!), but their actual engagement with the process of play consists of dicking around until the GM tells them to roll some dice, then reporting what number they rolled and letting the GM figure out what that means.
Basically, they're putting the GM in the position of acting as their personal assistant, onto whom they can offload any parts of the process of play that they're not interested in – and for some players, that's essentially everything except the physical act of rolling the dice, made possible by the fact most of D&D's mechanics are either GM-facing or amenable to being treated as such.*
Now, let's take this player and present them with a game whose design is informed by a culture of play where mechanics are strongly player facing, often to the extent that the GM doesn't need to familiarise themselves with the players' character sheets and never rolls any dice, and... well, you can see where the wires get crossed, right?
And the worst part is that it's not these players' fault – not really. Heck, it's not even a problem with D&D as a system. The problem is D&D's marketing-decreed position as a universal entry-level game means that neither the text nor the culture of play are ever allowed to admit that it might be a bad fit for any player, so total disengagement from the processes of play has to be framed as a personal preference and not a sign of basic incompatibility between the kind of game a player wants to be playing and the kind of game they're actually playing.
(Of course, from the GM's perspective, having even one player who expects you to do all the work represents a huge increase to the GM's workload, let alone a whole group full of them – but we can't admit that, either, so we're left with a culture of play whose received wisdom holds that it's just normal for GMs to be constantly riding the ragged edge of creative burnout. Fun!)
* Which, to be clear, is not a flaw in itself; a rules-heavy game ideally needs a mechanism for introducing its processes of play gradually.

How is social media Changing Marketing for business?
Research shows that there are 4.76 billion plus social media users around the globe (January 2023), coming close to 60 per cent of the global population. We all know the power of social media as it has become a significant media vehicle, evolving a new readership and culture.
Social media not only allows you to communicate with friends, learn new things, develop your interests, and get entertained. It also enhances the social worth of your business.
Social Media and Its Relevance to Marketers and Business Today
Today savvy marketers are increasingly leverging social media to influence your decision-making as a continuous process. Social media has revolutionized the modern marketing landscape by opening an interactive communication channel between brand and audience.
It has also given you total control over who you wish to target for branding, marketing and advertising. The salient feature of SMM is that it is open to everyone. Everyone can register an account free of cost on their choicest channel (Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, Twitter etc.) and get started. “Marketers also take the opportunity to reach the audience through organic marketing campaigns without paying for the Ads. Start-ups and SMEs with limited budgets get a chance to reach the customers “, Says a senior manager of a Top SMM Company in Gurugram.
All the social media platforms allow you to target according to demographics, interests, activity, and psychographics. In case you like to target a more exhaustive and specific audience segment, the paid Ad campaign gives you the opportunity on all the social media platforms. Through the targeted ads campaign, you can drive highly-quality users to your account/ page and convert them into business leads and sales.
Social Platforms have linked Marketing with Customer Service.
Although traditional marketing is a bit different than routine customer service, today, social media users depend on social media channels and interact with a company when they have a problem with a product or a service they have already purchased.
It is much more convenient for you to post a short post on the company’s business page than calling and getting the customer service rep to solve your enquiry. Social media interaction is a part of their overall Omnichannel experience towards the brands.
Social Media and Its Impact on Modern Business
Social Media today changed the dynamics of business communication. In the good old days, communication between businesses and consumers was a one-way conversation. Today, the company can address their prospects and customers, and customers also can express anything back. Social media has made it more beneficial for businesses, as they know what their audience thinks, and customers can look for better customer service.
Because of this two-way communication through social media channels, the brand can express the human side of the business (unlike mechanical before). It facilitates the brands to create accurate real time content based on customer interaction and gives it a much sought-after social twist, improving the branding per se in the marketplace. Moreover, internet-based social media helps your brand reach customers worldwide, interact with global customers, and solve their grievances at one go, 24X7.
With social media, it is easy today to keep in touch with your customers and prospects. On the other hand, the customers also feel a sense of loyalty toward your brand and keep following you on the social media platform for updates and offers. Your social media managers also engage customers and strengthen customer relationships and brand loyalty.
Social media is getting sophisticated and adding technology for better user experiences, making it compulsory to have a professional social media executive / Social Media Marketing Company in Gurugram to better manage your social media page. You may consult the IOS — one of the leading Social Media Marketing Companies in Gurugram, and attend one of their virtual no-obligation strategy sessions.

disclaimer: i am neither diagnosed nor strictly self-diagnosed, but i have always displayed some degree of autistic behavior/symptomolgy (whether caused by autism or by a collective of other things, i think my experience is possibly comparable)
i do think that in my teens, expressing socially acceptable femininity was a way of masking for me. i was very anxious about being seen barefaced by my peers, because i was aware that being “attractive” was one of the few forms of social leverge i could pull off, but also did not care about the social norms of like not putting on makeup publicly and i definitely had to learn modesty through negative/unwanted attention.
i do think that if i am autistic it’s definitely not in the rule-follower kind of way, i definitely err more toward the “if it doesn’t make sense to me, i’m not doing it” side of things
and i think that because i was masking through femininity during my teens, that actually protected me somewhat from gender ideology because it presented me with an easy out when prompted about my own gender identity — i present femme, therefore it only makes sense that i am a woman and use she/her. back then if pressed further about my nonfeminine behaviors i’d maybe specify further that maybe i was agender but had no dysphoria and presented femininely with she/her pronouns and thus “passed” as a ciswoman so it didn’t really matter either way. (which back then at least was seen sort of as “checking my privilege” and thus didn’t rock any boats)
it’s weird though, because i remember as a child and a pre-teen being vocally AGAINST makeup, i even recall a discussion i had with my grandma around 11 or 12 about how makeup was unfair not only to the girls who didn’t wear it yet (like myself) because it made us feel insecure, but also the girls who were already wearing it because they now feel obligated to do so in order to not feel insecure. i feel like i haven’t heard many other women express an experience like mine when discussing “peaking” and actually beginning to lean into radical feminism — for me it almost feels as if a return to my true values rather than a discovery or continuation of them as many other women seem to describe it being.
Patriarchy affects autistic women and girls in a unique way imo. I'm thinking particularly of masking (when you learn and perform behaviors from others to hide your autistic traits), but also of the autistic tendencies to compartmentalize, to want clear rules (esp socially), to assume honestly and/or good faith from others, to generally struggle to understand the intentions of others.
If we can't intuit social rules, then it makes sense that we would try to learn them by rote from outside sources. And when those outside sources are pushing patriarchal roles on us, when it seems like other women find it easy or natural, when we can't or don't trust ourselves to understand how to be accepted/acceptable...is it any wonder we try to mask? Is it any wonder we're more vulnerable?
I think this same thing is why a disproportionate amount of autistic women ID as trans or nonbinary. It makes perfect sense to me. Gender ideology offers us a different script; it says, "Do you feel ostracized, lonely, like an outsider? Here is a solution. Here is an alternate path." And then we're given an explanation, different rules to follow, something that seems less constricting than the rules of femininity. That's why gender ideology appealed to me, anyway. After years of struggling to perform femininity and growing steadily more dissociated from my body due to misogyny and disability, the idea that I could opt out sounded marvelous! Except, of course, that's not how it works.
This post has been All About Me but I'm an extremely rule-bound person, and I know many other autistics are not. So I'm curious—
Autistic women, do you find that patriarchy and misogyny have affected you in ways specific to being autistic?
