the following is my code of interpersonal ethics. it was established to address oversights regarding my interactions with women (& others). these guidelines serve to protect my recently restored self-integrity & personal dignity. they are are listed below in random order:

1. trust is earned, not given

2. give respect to receive it

3. always extend common courtesy

4. reserve judgment until it’s warranted

5. equal reciprocation is mandatory

6. never tolerate manipulation

7. always maintain healthy boundaries

8. always practice fairness

9. never compromise self-integrity

10. always preserve self-dignity

i’ve fought tooth & nail for over three decades to restore this level of self-esteem. my blood oath is that nobody will take it away from me again - ever.

Two-Face is a Liminal

So! Harvey Dent was splashed in the face with pure Acid, strong enough to instantly melt and burn off half of his Face.

He definitely nearly died from that, if not from the Blood Loss then from the Infections and Chemical Poisoning that you would expect. Now, since he didn't actually die he didn't become a Ghost, but multiple factors led to Harvey becoming a Liminal.

He was born in Gotham, a city with a very high Ecto Level, his attack was one filled with many extremely powerful emotions, and near death experiences tend to draw Ectoplasm to the location.

It makes sense doesn't it?

The sudden Split Personality, that's his Traumatized Ghost Side and his Barely hanging oon Human Side conflicting. It got so bad he developed DID.

His Obsession with the Coin is his Literal Ghostly Obsession. In Life he was always preaching about how "Crime always pays, its fate" so now he relies on Fate to make decisions.

Harvey Dent is a Liminal Human, parading around as a Villain in Gotham.

Imagine his surprise when Danny shows up at his Base, asking for a Lawyer? Apparently he needs help with a Legal Case of some sort.

see the problem with the 'what if rhaenyra had been born a boy' thing in regards to rhaenicent is the unavoidable truth that it would have changed them both so intrinsically that they wouldn't make sense anymore. the friendship that evolved into the deep intimacy they had would never have existed. the way they fashioned themselves as counterweights for one another as women with alicent reminding rhaenyra of the consequences of their sex and rhaenyra encouraging alicent to be brave in the face of those consequences wouldn't be necessary. if rhaenyra had ever said 'I wish I were born a boy. then we could have married' alicent could only have responded 'but then you wouldn't be rhaenyra'

jo sawashiro is far from the most interesting yakuza character out there, but the way they’ve managed to expand on his role in infinite wealth has bewitched me body and soul. a lot of things in yakuza are, but sawashiro is genre-breaking to the next level. this shit belongs in asoiaf/game of thrones. sawashiro and arakawa, more like davos and stannis, anyone? sawashiro as the loyal knight falling on his sword to fulfill his lord and master’s dreams? except the universe won’t ever let this knight redeem his honor because of abandoning his son, all those long years ago? in karmic retribution, without even knowing, masato exploits him and spends his whole life treating sawashiro like a lackey and a fool. and sawashiro accepts this as penance. one of masato’s final acts in this world is framing his father for murder and leading to sawashiro’s arrest, which he also accepts. despite everything, sawashiro still loves him, the son he once sacrified.

masato truly haunts the narrative of infinite wealth for ichiban (i.e. eiji’s caricature and redemption), but also for sawashiro. once he’s freed from his life sentence, sawashiro is still imprisoned by ebinu’s schemes—in attempting to fulfill arakawa’s dreams, sawashiro instead manages to facilitate the reanimation of the bloated corpse of his son, as ebinu transforms the seiryu clan into bleach japan. sawashiro knows he can never atone for his sins, but why won’t the universe leave masato’s memory in peace, either? then, in what could’ve been sawashiro’s final moments, after ebinu’s beating, we see that he’s been propped up in a wheelchair.
