What if Kaz joined Sturmhond's crew

Listen, hear me out.

Kaz is bored as fuck in Rule of Wolves. That's so obvious. He built an underground tunnel under half the city, he expanded Dregs territory, he bought a new gambling parlour, he upgraded the Crow Club. He steals things for fun. But it's getting so boring.

"What are you without your vengance" "What will you do when there are no more scores to settle?" Kaz's whole life has been about revenge, and now that Pekka is gone, he doesn't know what to do with himself. This was made clear in both show and book (the quotes above) when the Jordie hallucination and Inej both ask him what he will do when there's no more revenge to exact. He never really thought about it but now his revenge is done. It's completed. Early. Kaz mentions how he was going to use his haul to start a new gang and destroy Pekka, but he clearly never thought it would be so soon. Now, he doesn't know what to do. He's rich. He's the king of the Barrel. He's got his gang. There is nothing left to do.

There's nothing in Ketterdam left to occupy him. He wants to be the king of it, and he loves the city, but he's bored out of his skull. So he goes on a voyage. He leaves his lieutenant in charge, and his gang have orders to continue terrorising the Barrel whilst he's gone, but Kaz personally slips away onto the sea. With Nikolai.

I chose Nikolai and not Inej because of how similar Kaz and Nikolai are. Nikolai slips away from his kingly duties, Kaz from his. Nikolai has an unquiet mind, so does Kaz. They both love to put on a show and a disguise and Nikolai's reputation on the sea is pretty ruthless. He fed a guy's fingers to a dog. Kaz would love that. Also when Inej finds out he went on the sea but on a ship that isn't hers it'll be funny. Do you see my vision?

None of Robotnik's degrees are in medicine. Why should he care about that? His interest in the human body ends with his own. That is, until one time when Stone got really hurt, and the Doctor could do nothing. He coped by... teaching himself everything there is to know about medicine! He's very normal like that. Never bothered getting a degree for that one though.

As soon as I got the Kids On Bikes guide I immediately thought up multiple fun, zany settings for quick 2-3 session campaigns just to get my friends to try it. My favorites are:

Imaginary friends: several citizens of imagitropolis find themselves embroiled in a murder most foul, and have to work to uncover if the murderer was a resident, or one of the "creators" (small child) they owe their existence to

Cruise ship: pretty straight forward. Zany madcap closed door murder mystery on a cruise ship. I encourage every player to make their PC as melodramatic and self-centered as possible

Project Montauk: think 11 and her siblings from stranger things, without the regular kids, trying to figure out how to escape the brutal institution that seeks to test the limits of their psychic and supernatural abilities at any cost. I encourage every player to give their character an ability that sounds simple and barely useful, until you dial it up, where it becomes kind of terrifying (like the milk master guy from Misfits, fuck that episode rules)

Prohibition era gangsters: a shocking murder has rocked the local organized crime communities, and for some reason its up to the least scary gangsters to solve it. I would recommend they make a character who's basically a good person, maybe even a bit of a wuss, who barely manages to get the job done while avoiding violence whenever necessary (Also I was gonna have the head crime boss in the city, which is obviously Chicago, be named Alice Capone. A broad shouldered take-no-shit lady of inscrutable ruthlessness. Think Al with big naturals.)

One flew over the cuckoos nest: a group of mental patients attempt to orchestrate an escape from the awful institution they're consigned too. (My plan was to just have my players institutionalized for real traits/issues they have that would have been regarded as way worse 80 years ago, just a fun way to say "fuck you" to old ways of thinking)

Ohio Jackson: the group is made up of the various sidekicks and assistants of famed adventurer and archeologist Ohio Jackson, amd when he suddenly dies in a booby trap he didn't expect suddenly it's on them to figure out how to escape this hidden temple, filled with treasure and danger, and sometimes one may be mistaken for the other? (Imagine indiana jones if he died 3/4s into the movie)

if you like cryptids or dnd or ttrpgs you should try kids on bikes. genuinely a blast

It was used in Dimension 20's Mentopolis and Misfits and Magic (and was the base of nsbu and mismag 2) if you want an idea of how it works.

It's a good system that's highly flexible, has safety tools to keep everyone having fun, and some tips for role-playing if you aren't too comfortable with it yet.

Also I know this sounds like an ad but it truly isn't i dont know how to recommend something without trying to sound like a bad youtube ad read. i just started playing it with 2 of my friends like a week ago and had a blast so i thought to share. plus WOTC seems to enjoy finding new ways to suck so other ttrpgs rock. its like $15 ($10usd) check it out

spencer’s hand traced up her side, pulling her impossibly closer to his chest. her hands were resting comfortably against his chest, basking in the firmness of his peck muscles. spencer’s thigh were pressed against, searching for friction anywhere he could find it. spencer is unsure of where his body ends and hers begins, too entranced by the feeling of her lips firmly against his.

it was messy; a rushed, spitty, spur of the moment make-out session upon spencer’s return from an absolutely brutal case, that had lasted over a week. to say she was desperate for him was an understatement. she’d been literally dreaming of his return since the day he begrudgingly pulled himself from the warmth of her comforter. she remembered watching him search for the dress pants he’d arrived in, needing something to wear until he could get to his “go-bag”, which he’d left at the office in a rush to make it to her place in time for their friday night movie night.

spencer slid his right hand to the back of her, attempting to press her even closer. as his hand settled just underneath her jawline, spencer pulled himself away, just for a brief second to mutter: “jesus, honey,” in exasperation. his lips were back on hers before she even really comprehended what he’d say. as his expression clicked in her brain, she jerked away, suddenly nervous that she was doing something wrong.

with blown pupils and a beautiful confused face, she looked up at him, “did i do something wrong?”. if spencer wasn’t ridiculously hard in his slacks, he probably would’ve coaxed over to the couch, sat her down and discussed the worry that was apparent on her face. “no, baby,” he cooed, stealing a quick peck from her. could you blame him? “your heart is just beating so fast,” he clarified as he traced his thumb over his jawline, emphasizing his palm that was pressed against her pulse point.

without hesitation, and a bit rushed, she spoke, “oh, i’m just excited,”. her lips were against him before his cheeks could redden at the idea that she was so excited to be kissing him that her heart rate was significantly increased. he smiled into this kiss, slowing down just a tad. he was excited too. and he was excited to show her just how much.

DnD players be like, "I don't get the point of solo ttrpgs" and then spend an entire afternoon crafting their ideal Loxodon Barbarian grappler complete with a fully fleshed-out backstory and NPC connections, who will never see an actual table because there is no plan in their rpg circle for a new DnD game and this like their 10th character they're adding to a library of unplayed PCs.

while I think lords of fortune rook is probably one of the faction backgrounds that tie the least well into the overarching story for me so far, I must admit that I do see the inherent allure and hilarity in the character concept of someone who somehow manages to save the world based on nothing but the power of being a really good hang
