let me be the first to say i was skeptical about this remake because i really loved the original (and also, an american version of Let the Right One In already exists. it's called twilight.), but, once again, i should not have doubted Matt Reeves and his vision, because this RULES. utterly riveting. much softer and warmer than the original, bathed in much more yellow hues too, and definitely more americanized and less subtle than the original, but it also differs in interesting ways that make it a worthwhile experience and makes the emotional journey a little different. personally, the character name changes just kept tripping me up and i kept calling them the original names, especially because the names they changed to were just reminding me of The Last of Us Part II and i love the two main leads in here, but they will NEVER be Abby and Owen. the changes in the emotional structure definitely make this more tragic than horrific or haunting like the original, but Matt Reeves fucking kills it. i think this is definitely more interesting as a proto-The-Batman than a remake of the original, especially considering it's also shot by Greig Fraser. honestly, considered giving this the honor of being the better movie by default because it doesn't make me look at a child's crotch. but the original is still definitely the better movie, though this one is more different than worse.

finally got around to watching Matt Reeves's adaptation of the Swedish horror movie Let The Right One In called Let Me In. in a shocking twist to no one, it's very good. here's some thoughts and some notes i had while watching.

did anyone else on here watch the og minecraft youtubers?? i never hear anyone on here talk about them, like dantdm, popularmmos, ssundee, stampylongnose, all of team crafted. like guys can we reminisce about when youtube was just letsplays that were barely edited and like 30 minutes of some people having fun?
