Prompt 28 - Hallowed
@wolfstarmicrofic October 28, word count 235
“Oh, come on, Remus. You know I can’t go in there,” Sirius huffed as he followed the lanky, cardigan-wearing human around the tiny village.
“What do you mean?” Remus asked, his brow furrowed in confusion as he looked back at Sirius.
“Church— Hallowed ground— Demon!” He pointed at himself. Remus’s eyes widened, and his mouth fell open as he realised what the problem had been.
“Oh, sorry, I forgot. It’s just really pretty inside.” He shrugged as he carried on past the gates.
“You forgot?! How could you forget? You sold your soul to me a month ago, and I’ve been pestering you ever since. How could you forget?!!!” Sirius flung his arms up in exasperation. In the hundreds of years he’d been doing this, not one human had ever forgotten what he was. But Remus was different, the strange man seemed to actually enjoy Sirius’s company and was a thousand times happier since he’d called on him.
Sirius almost felt bad about their bargain. Remus was now doomed to an eternity in hell, all for the sake of giving his dying mother a few more years of life. If Sirius wasn’t a hell-raised Demon from a long line of hell-raised Demons with bloodlines right back to Lilith herself, he might have tried to find a way to get Remus out of his deal, but he was, and he’d never let a soul go yet.

Master post for all @naffeclipse book cover designs (except song fish amid the stars) since I decided after finishing the third one I was just going to do one for all of them n didn’t wanna spam post back to back.
My brain just keeps gridlocking whenever I try to think of one for song fish. Something with Circus I just know it, but what without it being cluttered idk. Will put a lil vid below the collapse of me trying n failing to come up with one, just so it’s not left out
I love all these stories! It was fun to honor all of them with this project since I know I’ve been a little artistically biased towards certain ones, but now I scurry on to other projects. Maybe take a break, drink some hot cocoa maybe. The smell of fall is in the air so who knows where I’ll wander off to.

theres smthn eggy abt early violent femmes. like being a v proud pussyeater and bisexual bottom w a kind of ironic adoption of feminity w a covering of a grit and grunge that might conceivably serve as a smokescreen that any of this feminine talk is sincere and being v ironic and detached and depressed and alienated and stuff and superior but also hating urself and being reckless wnd being weirdly christian and having problematic beliefs like it paints the picture of a bisexual bottom maybe even bratty (?) intellectual loner egg who writes poetry

WIP Sunday
Thank you for the tag as ever, @dirty-bosmer! Tagging @cumbiazevran, @ollifree @memaidraws and @aria-i-adagio if you'd like. Here is a bit from Hallowed Ground featuring the bestest boys
In the fullness of that winter, Savos had outgrown the last of his tutors. Zennat hefted magic, and Teldryn struck with it, but to Savos it was life, as easy and inevitable as breath. He walked on water and treaded air; his heels hovered ever over flights of stairs. Everywhere he went was a cloud of starlight, floating idly over his shoulder. When he ventured into the barrows he had no use for lamps. Blue fire came to life at the snap of his fingers. Imps and wraiths tailed him, meek and supple as pets on a leash. With a whispered word he coaxed spirits into cold bones, and with another he banished them. It wasn't enough. Zennat could see it now, the ghostly shape of Savos' ambition, already sprawling the breadth of the city. His windows would not darken until dawn, and Savos, who was once cautious and pensive, now coaxed them into adventure to dig through tombs, set off to the outskirts to chase rumors and tales. When Neloth's reply finally arrived at the start of Sun's Dusk, he threw it to the side in frustration, and shut himself in his room, writing and writing and writing again. One night, sprawled atop the roof in the warmth of Savos' fire, he turned to them, face shining from the flush of his own power. "Look," He tossed a few flickering lights to the air. They danced and joined and formed shapes. "It's us." The boys made of light leapt into a starry ocean. They ran up the rocky slopes of a cliff, the wind knocking them backward. Then they were perched atop birds, taking off into the sky, hands reaching out to scoop the chill night. "That never happened." Teldryn grumbled, even though his eyes sparkled. Teldryn wore his hair shorter now, dark feathery wisps tumbling to his neck, pinned back on one side. He'd taken a habit of tossing back the strands falling to his eyes as he spoke. His mouth curled into a sharp smile, and Zennat looked away from the stars.
"It doesn't have to, silly." Savos rolled his eyes. "You still knew it was us." Zennat's hand found Teldryn's, and Teldryn's eyes met his. Zennat's heart was in his throat, as if he couldn't speak without coughing it out. Boys made of light. Had he not fallen in love that winter's night, he would have known Savos was saying goodbye.

Hallowed Ground by The Violent Femmes: If it were a rock opera
PREFACE: THIS IS NOT INTENDED TO BE A SERIOUS INTERPRETATION OF THE STORY OF THIS ALBUM. THIS IS PURPOSEFULLY A STRETCH.
Hallowed Ground presents a story of a family living on a haunted farm, build on sacred land, and how it leads to various awful events.
TW: murder
Country Death Song: A man living on a haunted farm begins to get more and more insane. This leads to him killing his daughter, and then himself.
I Hear the Rain: This song continues this storyline, showing the grief of the family after the events of Country Death Song-- sometimes from the perspective of the remaining siblings, slowly figuring out something is wrong with the farm, ("I HEAR THE RAIN, I HEAR THE RAIN"), the mom, ("SHE USED TO SIT AND WATCH THE RAIN NOW I THINK I'LL GO INSANE") and the dead father ("Bury me out on the lone prairie / prairie water washing over me", etc, verses)
Never Tell: Time skip a year or two to the future. The remaining siblings on the farm are brother and sister. The brother begins to feel the effects of the farm as well, and gets pulled into the underground crime ring of the south. He kills someone, and the sister witnesses it. He threatens her in order to keep her quiet.
Jesus Walking on the Water: The mother and her two children find solace in the church, singing a hymn, but sinister happenings still lurk beneath the exterior of happy church hymns.
I Know It's True but I'm Sorry to Say: The mother's slow ballad, lamenting her husband and daughter's death. She has started attempting to communicate with their ghosts, somewhat effectively. Their ghosts join her in a harmony.
Hallowed Ground: As the family falls deeper and deeper into despair, the sister becomes determined to find out what's wrong with her family's farm. She discovers the truth; the farm was built on sacred land, and is now terribly haunted. She starts planning to run away.
Sweet Misery Blues: Escaping from the farm, the sister is staying at a hotel in a faraway big city. She meets a man who attempts to seduce her. He promises a grandiose life, and says he'll take care of her and buy her things.
Black Girls: It turns out the guy that she met was kind of racist and kind of an idiot, so she's weirded out and leaves.
It's Gonna Rain: The sister makes a life for herself in the city, and leaves behind her past. She accepts the death of her father and sister, and stops worrying about her brother and mother, focusing on herself, calling back to the image of rain in I Hear The Rain-- but this time being happy and okay about it. It's *going* to rain, yes-- but it's alright.
Request albums in my asks or respond to this with an album request, and I might do it especially if I know it well! :)

I'm just gonna throw it out there, this fucking idea has been plaguing my mind since 2015 and I'm finally getting back into development. I took a couple years off from it because I needed to take a break. Just know we out here homie and the gears are turnin'~ Hallowed Ground will become.
