I know y'all gonna get tired of me gushing about Cowboy Carter! Lol. I feel like it's the sister/bookend album to Solange's "When I Get Home". Roots music. I know Tina, Michael, and Prince are very proud of this body of work. I'ma be studying it today like these Black cowgirls going around these barrels!

Nettie and I made our first visit to the Cat's Cradle backroom in Carrboro, North Carolina last night to see Charlie Parr with opener The Resonant Rogues. It's a long-standing smallish venue with limited seating, so we intentionally went early to grab a pair of seats at the front of the balcony. Most of the audience stood for about 3 hours... The music was very interesting and fun. Parr is a master of "working class/underclass" acoustic country blues, played on resonator guitar, and the Rogues sing their own take on Appalachian Mountain old time/folk music. Both artists exist in a niche genre with a dedicated but relatively small following, They did manage to pack the house.
