You know something? Maybe once a week, I wake up paralyzed… reliving that night. But before the sun went down, I think that was the best day of my life. Was it like that for you? No doubt about it.

told you i had an ace up my sleeve...

this is yet another artwork for @devilsminionzine (poke around their profile, i am in AMAZING company of creators there!), a piece that goes best with the fic by lovely @pricemarshfield - can't fully express the joy this collab gave me, for i had my chance to explore the unapologetically feral side of Daniel...
...and try a more stylised approach, ehehehe 🦇
see the tiny pic in right top corner? that's what the primary sketch looked like ;}

Interview with Eric Bogosian for Wake Up and Smell the Coffee In many ways, I think it's sort of my core self when I perform and in many ways very exciting, but also leaves me kind of uncomfortable and exposed when I perform. I know I'm good at it, but in a funny way I don't—It's got a whorish quality to it. They say it's like the second oldest profession.

IWTV S3 Musings - GabriellA's HairGate
@deepalienstudentshepherd I'm splitting your ask to focus on GabriellA's hair. I'm SO excited for S3; not even GabriellA's cheap AF wig can kill my buzz--but omg HOW can fix that in post???? 😩 Only thing that can save that is reshooting absolutely everything, which I REALLY don't see them doing, so I fear the hair's here to stay, alas. 💀
My question is why AMC decided to give her that hair in the first place. Cuz it's not just the color, its the texture, too. She looks like she's wearing MARIUS' wig. 🤦 Where's her iconic Safari Braid? If they were gonna cut it short, it should've been SUPER short, Pixie Cut or something. No matter what, that was A CHOICE.™
To Wig (Out), or Not to Wig (Out)?
Like, obvs it's a wig on her actress, but is it supposed to be a wig in-universe, too? 🤔 book!Gabrielle was dying of consumption/tuberculosis, but apparently TB doesn't cause hair loss, it's the antibiotics, or other dietary/hormonal issues not directly caused by the disease. So if AMC!Gabs was losing her hair as a human, it shouldn't be due to TB. But other illnesses--plus lice--could lead people to buzz their hair off (x x).
Then there's the practice of men AND women shaving their heads to make wearing fashionable periwigs/perukes easier.

But GabriellA's has the same hair in the 1700s AND the 2020s, so maybe it's her natural hair? Which ofc raises a BUNCH of questions, cuz her son Lestat's hair looks nothing like hers (which it's supposed to, a la the books explicitly saying so. But fine! Eff the books!). Esp. cuz the wigs they wore back then just wouldn't look like that at all.
Which makes me VERY curious about the AMC!Lioncourt's finances, and exactly how poor they're gonna be. Cuz this 👇 hair is just NOT fashionable for 1760s - 1790s France.

The Lioncourts were French nobility--broke AF, but still holding the hereditary title of Marquis & Marquise, even if they never set foot in the shadow of Versailles. So just how much did the AMC!Lioncourts bother to keep up appearances wrt fashion? Did they just schlep around like country bumpkins? Clearly not though, if this dude's supposed to be Lestat's dad:
He doesn't look THAT poor. Maybe not Versailles Couture Realness, but nowhere near what I was expecting from the indigent blind cripple whose chateau was crumbling around his ears. UNLESS that is the Marquis BEFORE he went blind, when Lestat was REAL young. (But he still looks way more French Revolution, a la 1790s.)
But if anything, AMC!Gabs' hair looks closer to the 1750s - 1760s, BEFORE Lestat was born:

But by the 1770s, the iconic big-haired Pouf / High Roll was peak fashion for French nobility. And it just got bigger & bigger in the 1780s - 1790s, when Lestat would've been an adult killing wolves and such--ESPECIALLY by the time he and his mother were both vampires.

Aside from the anachronistic STYLE, there's also the texture & color.
Her hair's BONE straight, which isn't what 18th century wigs looked like either--curls were all the rage, and the hair was often frizzed before styling, as seen on countless paintings. Most of the cheaper wigs weren't even made from human hair anyway--they used coarser sheep/goat hair instead, cuz the human stuff was way too expensive. So if broke AF AMC!Gabs DOES wear a wig, it shouldn't be this silky white number--that's gotta be hers.

AMC!Gabs' bright white color isn't what a powdered wig looks like either (the white powder made hair dark greyish on brunettes; or more yellowish on blondes). But her hair's just white; which again raises questions: did Gabs go VERY prematurely grey, from illness/stress? Cuz she just doesn't look anywhere near old enough to have a full head of hair being THAT white. It's darn near bioluminescent.
Harpo, Who This Woman?
Cuz like, I remember when fans were posting the first BTS pics of Jam, and people noticed the white-haired lady in a few of photos, and NATURALLY assumed she was gonna be Lestat's lawyer, Christine Claire. I assumed it was Gretchen or Flannery, or ANYONE but Gabrielle. But nope that's his mom--whodathunk!
TL;DR: Eventually, I'll get over the wig. Not TODAY, but one day.
Hair has been the thing I think AMC flubs on the most; it's wild to me that they're even being nominated for an Emmy for hair; I cracked and died. And this whole situation with Gabrielle's hair just further proves that AMC's hairdressers are Chaotic Evil.
