Blurb: The Burlesque Lounge has its best days behind it. Tess, a retired dancer and owner of the venue, struggles to keep the ageing theater alive, facing all kinds of financial and artistic challenges. With the Lounge's troupe members becoming increasingly distracted by personal problems and a threat coming from a wealthy businessman's quest to buy the spot from Tess, the good fortune seems to have abandoned the club altogether. Meanwhile, the life of Ali, a small-town girl from Iowa, is about to change dramatically. Hired by Tess as a waitress at the Lounge, Ali escapes a hollow past and quickly falls in love with the art of burlesque. Backed by newfound friends amongst the theater's crew, she manages to fulfil her dreams of being onstage herself. Things take a dramatic turn when Ali's big voice makes her the main attraction of the venue.

Favourite episodes ask- I have a few, sorry! A Quiet Night In, Death Be Not Proud, The Stakeout, and Wuthering Heist 😻
hii! nice episodes taste 😩👌
a quiet night in: if you could own any piece of art, which would it be?
this is such a hard question 😭 i'd go with a bust of antinous, preferably this one
Tumblr media
alternative answer: a painting by caspar david friedrich
death be not proud: are there any other steve and reece characters you’d like to see make a comeback?
pauline.....and geoff maybe
the stakeout: what are your favourite tropes in any genre?
i love the whole 'repressed character finally lets someone else see them and love them' thing. and religious motifs/imagery/symbolism.
wuthering heist: which role would you play in a heist movie?
planning/mapping i think. looking at maps, routes, exits, informations about the place, ... or be the logistics guy who brings food and stuff lol

Hi! I was wondering if you could please help me find an ashkenazi jewish father and a (preferably also jewish) black mother for Jurnee Smollett. Her paternal aunt, who's supposed to be her father's younger sister, is played by Rachel Weisz. Options with period resources would be aprecciated, but they're minor characters so I can work my way around with modern resources. Thanks in advance, you guys are lifesavers and I really like your work.
Stephen Tobolowsky (1951) Ashkenazi Jewish.
Fred Melamed (1956) Ashkenazi Jewish.
Adam Arkin (1956) Ashkenazi Jewish.
Larry Thomas (1956) Ashkenazi Jewish.
Steve Antin (1958) Ashkenazi Jewish.
Russell Todd (1958) Ashkenazi Jewish.
Boney James (1961) Ashkenazi Jewish.
Bill Goldberg (1966) Ashkenazi Jewish.
David Alan Basche (1968) Ashkenazi Jewish.
Scott Wolf (1968) Ashkenazi Jewish.
and - sadly I don't think ant of them are Jewish!
Jenifer Lewis (1957) African-American.
Angela Bassett (1958) African American.
Debra Wilson (1962) African-American.
Robin Givens (1964) African-American.
Viola Davis (1965) African-American.
Here you go!
