i think, anecdotally, canadians love to use land acknowledgments and Diversity(tm) a bit more than americans do, and have a degree of always pointing at the us and being like "well at least WE didn't do anything that fucked up! we're so much more enlightened and respectful 😌". and so any acknowledgment that racism exists, or that necessary societal change is often only brought by unpleasant disruption, or specifically that indigenous people live in terrible conditions because of colonization, is bracketed with this type of "but it's very complicated, and who's to say if there's a solution? we're thinking about it really hard, and holding space, and listening and learning, and maybe we will get to fixing it in like 50 years if people ask nicely" rhetoric. and there's a degree of apprehension that "land back" is a call for ethnic cleansing of settlers (somehow, despite this being both physically not possible and not actually anyone's demand) and that any movement towards that will be bad and overly radical.

which maps directly onto how bioware writes elves specifically haha. they'll sympathetically show how they're oppressed and living under the boot of a catholic church-esque entity, but then... ahhh noo, actually they had a very problematic pre-colonization culture, and they're too impractically fixated on the past and that prevents them from moving forward, and the church employees are sometimes trying their best and making amends, and the demands of the elven leadership are just too out there and violent... so really, it's very complicated. maybe it could be better to keep the status quo and only have Incremental Change, forever.

(they sort of didn't do this in the masked empire, but as always they had to throw in a bit about how Rude And Mean the dalish are. plus the ridiculously evil chevalier lore of each one randomly executing a few elves as a rite of passage, and then never mentioning that aspect again bc i guess it wasn't relevant to michel's story. as well as the insanely underwritten premise of what briala and celene's relationship actually was. there's ~toxic lesbians~, and then there's "extremely rich and powerful white noblewoman calls her younger servant class gf ugly for being dark skinned, lies to her for years, has her family and then entire community killed, then tries to seduce her back when she gets angry and leaves" lmao. i think weekes was going for a tragic morally grey starcrossed lovers to enemies vibe, but to me it was more of a horrific one-sided exploitation that the author did not seem to realize they were writing.)

and in veilguard i suppose they tried to avoid the entire issue by mostly removing those aspects of the setting, so you no longer even have the somewhat well-observed depictions of oppression combined with Justin Trudeau Moments, it's just kind of empty.

Tim's stomach curls and tangles in an electric jolt of heat at the glancing friction. He realizes with a spike of hot, mortified shame that he's— Tim is hard under his uniform. He sucks in a short gasp, trying to hide it, and Jason— —whines.

Mostly because Saitama x Fubuki is a boring ship, and its fans are usually just projecting their fantasies on Fubuki and themselves on Saitama.

Also Psykos x Fubuki is awesome. There ain't enough tragic lesbian romances in media.

I'll try to keep this quick and digestible.

Psykos was Fubuki's right-hand-woman during their school days. She was her closest confidant, her biggest fan, and a capable strategist who supported Fubuki in her endeavors. The whole reason Psykos went mad was because she wanted to support Fubuki by learning to see the future.

Even after she went insane, she trusted and respected Fubuki enough to remain at her side.

On Fubuki's end, we have the kiss to seal her powers. Rather than subduing her through a litany of possible other means, Fubuki chose the most nonviolent and romantic manner possible to bring Psykos under control. Fubuki's only guardian was Tatsumaki, so it's sorta natural that her love language is toxic. People interpret the kiss as pure manipulation, but I think she wanted to do what Tatsumaki did to her all her life; keep her close by enforcing inferiority.

None of the former members of the Society of the Supernatural are ever expanded upon; only Psykos and Fubuki. This might be a stretch, but when Fubuki said "She's trying to take the losers away from me", I think Fubuki might have been referring to Psykos as the loser.

"For every high, there is a low. For every winner, there's a loser."

Fubuki's eyes were fixed on Psykos as she said those words. Once again, this is a major mind-read on my part that could be wrong, but I think Fubuki was worried that she was losing Psykos, who was the low to her high.

And in the modern day, Fubuki makes every attempt to defend Psykos and prevent her from being harmed. She tells her to give up nonviolently, catches her gallantly when she falls, and covertly takes her from the Hero Association when she's in danger. In the webcomic, her goal was even more explicit and aggressive; she took the initiative to break the law and steal Psykos from the Hero Association by force.

And from a practical standpoint, Psykos is everything the Blizzard Group needs. Someone who knows how to run an organization unseen, strengthen the odds of victory, and run a business in a support role. Fubuki is an inspiration to her people and a great leader who knows how to negotiate. Together, they'd be an awesome team.

And if the two came together romantically, it'd be a wonderful bookend to Psykos's journey. She needs someone to help her live as a human being again, and Fubuki can finally make amends for being sort of a mean little bean in the past.

That's my two cents on the matter.

also imo it very rarely maps onto whatever's going on in mainstream culture/media with regard to queer & trans people. like it's always been hilarious to me that the standby is "butch lesbians are the cultural stereotype so we need femme lesbians in movies/tv/etc." but if i asked you to point to an actual butch on a big screen, lmfao. or the thing where most trans-focused mainstream media is still only ever about trans women, but in actual queer/trans spaces & orgs it's often heavily skewed towards trans men & transmasc folks now (which is a change that i also saw juuuust begin to happen in the mid-to-late 00s). ofc "representation" & "visibility" are double edged too & don't make people safe.

sorry if this ask is kind of loaded but I feel like I'm not radical enough, I know this is going to sound silly and maybe like bait but this has really been stressing me out 😅I'll see takes from TIRFs online who'll say stuff like "if I had a child and they were a boy I couldn't love them" or referring to men as "moids", or saying women with boyfriends/husbands can't be radfem, and I just don't see how that line of thinking is anything but reactionary, even if it's supposedly trans-inclusive? typing that out I feel like makes me sound like a bootlicker for men but I'm literally a man-hating lesbian..but then I see other people agreeing who I respect and I feel kind of crazy for disagreeing and I'm like...am I wrong for thinking this is reactionary, am I just defending men? but I can't understand how categorizing a group of people as inherently evil does not fall into biological essentialist rhetoric.

also counter-productively, as a lesbian, I feel like this just ends up hurting us instead of men, like men aren't going to care if they're predatory but a lot of what is said can be applied to us (for ex: the claim that all penetrative sex is abuse, although to my knowledge this isn't something that has actually been written in any feminist theory and is a misinterpretation of criticisms of cishet sex? I have only seen people online say this anyway) and I just get extra worried that I'm a predator...maybe I just think too much about what random strangers on the internet say idk lmfao😵‍💫

I’ve come across those types, too, and while I sympathize with their hatred of male violence and patriarchal culture, I do think the sentiments they share are ultimately reactionary. Even if they don’t outright say that “males” are born with some “evil gene”, their thinking leads them to the same place - that men are doomed to become oppressors and that relations between men/women can never be revolutionized. This line of thinking, in my opinion, is still functionally biodeterminist, and thus ends up being transmisogynistic. We can see that in the way they often argue that this damning process of “male socialization” also affects trans women since they were AMAB.

I would not say these people represent radical feminism as a whole, though. Most second wave thinkers did not come to the conclusions that we need to, say, ban straight women from feminism or abandon male children. Although they took the prevalence and influence of patriarchy seriously, they still had hope and believed feminism could ultimately change the misogynistic relations and ideologies that make men, men. And if these online radfems are saying things like, “all penetrative sex is rape”, then they’re indicating that they are simply ignorant of radical feminism, since Dworkin explicitly said this was not the conclusion to draw from her work.

As I said, I sympathize with the core feelings these women are dealing with, but their extreme nihilism and lack of faith in the revolutionizing power of feminism makes them ultimately disagreeable. Add in the fact that they adopt 4Chan slang (and sometimes berate male-attracted women with misogynistic language and slurs), and they can be very off-putting and offensive. So you’re definitely not wrong for (or alone in) feeling the way you do.

Definitely!! She didn't even realise she HAD ice magic until she used it by accident, and then immediately went "oh this is sick as hell!!!" and threw herself into learning how to use it, but that would have taken a while.

I don't have an exact plot down, but if Rime and Blaze's first few meetings/fights are similar to sa2, then Rime would actually have used her original power of magic absorption/nullification to make Blaze powerless for the first few fights. Then both of them would just be punching and scratching each other like normal cats LOL. Once Rime learns about her new magic, she decides to fight Blaze with it as "it's way cooler" <- pun intended.

So, yeah. She's fighting Blaze while not really having any idea how her magic works lmfao. It's fairly strong magic but she doesn't know how to use it as she's never had training in that regards, while to me Blaze would have been trained from childhood to use her fire magic (even if she couldn't control it fully before meeting Sonic, she still has more control over it than Rime). I guess for Rime, being the superior fighter would be referring to literally fighting - Blaze is good but Rime is the better brawler! She's used to fighting without magic so usually comes out on top if they both fight like that. However you also need to know that Rime likes being beaten by Blaze. In a lesbian way. The rituals are intricate and all that LOL. Where's the fun in nullifying Blaze's magic and then beating her up when Rime could let Blaze pin her to the ground and threaten to burn her? She thinks it's hot!! <- pun intended again.

Her "ultimate [???]" speech would no doubt be pretty different from Shadow's too. Rime doesn't consider herself as an ultimate lifeform, if anything she considers herself less human (or mobian lol) than others due to her upbringing (Gertrude treated her as a non sentient animal) so I'm not entirely sure yet how that would go. Lots to think about!!! A lot of my thoughts on Rime are based on half baked headcanons I have for the Sol dimension, I rlly need to bulk those out and properly write them down djhfhd

I think the reason why smut is so much better and arousing than porn is because porn is made by and for men while smut is usually written by women who are just fantasizing about good wild sex lol. Like, porn is soooo much male gaze and just awfully misogynist in general (not to mention just straight up violent, creepy and unethical as well). Even lesbian porn just screams male gaze and male pleasure and it's sooo annoying. Smut on the other hand lets you enjoy and focus on female pleasure. Plus, there's no human trafficking or cp in the smut fandom (the same cannot be said for porn).

i find it really strange how much criticism there's been levied at the idea that anyone could potentially prefer or find greater love or value or enjoyment or pleasure out of sapphic relationships.

thinking about this because i see posts about how calling sapphic relationships "more pure" is terf rhetoric or about how women aren't inherently better than men. and i don't disagree from a basic level, i don't think we should hold sapphic relationships to a really high standard, especially when the rates of abuse faced by sapphic women are higher than abuse faced by straight women (not that this is inherently due to sapphic relationships since most of the abuse levied towards sapphic women comes from men, but there is also a significant rate of violence coming from women partners as well). but ppl aren't trying to remind sapphics that women r just as capable of violence as anyone else, there seems to be almost a desire to denigrate the joy and relief that comes out of sapphic relationships, and perhaps almost a resurgence in the idea that lesbians are inherently terfs.

i don't think this is explicitly the goal here, at least not for most people. but i don't think a lot of y'all have unlearned that rhetoric that was going around. i think a lot of y'all see the vocal terf lesbians and then start to assume that most things that are commonly expressed by lesbians are therefore terf talking points. some of you really need to kill the idea that terfs are man-hating dykes and that that's the end of it.

kill the idea that any rhetoric that hates men or is critical of men is terf rhetoric. because guess what, terfs will align themselves with men if it means they can get power to further terrorize trans women. hyperanalyzing anything that a lesbian says that's critical of men or that otherwise uplifts our experiences and love for other women as being secretly transmisogynistic is unproductive and lesbophobic.

and it's strange to see this sort of negative attitude towards sapphic relationships specifically because it feels so transparent. it feels so transparent to see a relationship that doesn't have men in it and to immediately want to tear it down. no, sapphic relationships aren't inherently more pure or whatever. but if a lesbian says her love for other women is sacred, maybe she's not saying that because of some bioessentialist divine feminine bullshit, maybe she's saying it because she finally feels fucking happy and is able to unshackle at least part of herself from patriarchal supremacy and the idea that men need to be included in every aspect of public life.

i'm saying all this as a tme lesbian, and i know i'm not immune to transmisogynistic rhetoric or talking points. but 99% of what i see on this site as "warning this is a terf talking point" is just something lesbians say that have nothing to do with transmisogyny, trans exclusion, radical feminism, or fascism. and fuck, i know a lot of people have lost the plot here too, but you also do know that radical feminism by itself isn't inherently transphobic, right? don't get me wrong, a large number of self-identified radfems are transphobic, and i definitely believe many of them are using the term "radical feminism" to dilute the movement and cause more confusion and bring more people to their side, but there are a good number of radical feminists who are trans inclusive--because radical feminism, as an ideology, was created with the intention of recognizing the patriarchy as a supremacist force and working to uproot it.

this isn't to say i don't think you shouldn't be at least a little bit critical of strangers calling themselves radical feminists, you should. the movement has been overtaken by a lot of transmisogynistic fascists, but there are/were quite a lot of radical feminists who, even from the start in the 60s and 70s, supported trans women.

what my point of all this is, you're not fighting transmisogyny if you're just looking at lesbian experiences and unconsciously associating that with terf rhetoric, you're just further dividing the cause and, as i've said in a previous post, helping the lesbian terf minority by insinuating all lesbians are secretly transmisogynistic or by equating our experiences or common things we say to express ourselves with terf rhetoric is only going to help them win.

oh and also lesbians as a sexual orientation group are the most accepting of trans people. like actually. go to page 63. so when i say terf lesbians are a vocal minority i mean it. stop letting a vocal minority speak for the whole group, stop letting the tiny hate-filled percentage taint how you look at everyone else.

He's farther back, leaning against the dresser, and you think he looks the most human out of all of them. His green eyes give him away, though, unnerving if you look at him for too long-- less green and more //clear//, leeching into a dark brown color that surrounds the edge of both irises. His face is unreadable as he looks over at you. None of them are familiar to you-- but standing in front of them, something stirs in the back of your mind, and a sudden anxiety tightens in your gut. You feel nauseous, a sickly crawling sensation beneath your skin, a cold sweat prickling the back of your neck. You hope they don't notice. Oberon locks the door behind you then, and you feel your hackles raise fully. Atlas finally smiles.
