2 - lighter or matches?: in my heart of hearts it’s matches but i tend to just light them over and over regardless of if i need them or not so i only own lighters

31 - what type of music keeps you grounded?: stuff i listened to when i was around 18/19, that was one of the hardest years of my life and the music i listened to then while displacing to hear now is still a sense of comfort bc it was soothing to me then, so it’s especially soothing to me now (ex: first aid kit, the wailin’ jennys, hozier’s wasteland baby, etc)

Bshaer (@bshaeromars-blog) has asked me to write a post for her because she is really struggling to provide basic needs for her baby Aya. To make things worse, they are in Northern Gaza, suffering the worst of Israel's attacks!

Bshaer's story is absolutely heart-breaking. Bshaer was newly married and pregnant with her first child when this genocidal war happened. Her husband was killed in December by an airstrike when he was collecting firewood for the family. Newly married and now newly widowed, Bshaer gave birth to baby Aya amidst the bombing in harsh conditions. Baby Aya will never get to meet her father, who was a wonderful man and worked as a nurse before his death.

Bshaer has lost her husband, her home, and her job. She just wants to buy diapers, milk and winter clothes for Aya so her basic needs are met. Yet even these basic necessities are hard to get as everything is very expensive in Gaza right now. In addition, they have been ordered to move again by the occupation, and there is shooting going on all around them! Bshaer also has 6 siblings and moving costs money! Please help them! Haven't Bshaer already suffered enough?

I remember when Bshaer first reached out to me in Early August and told me her story. Hers is a story I remember very clearly because I cannot imagine the pain Bshaer must feel to lose her newly married husband so soon, to give birth alone knowing her child will never be able to know her father.
