writeblr intro
hello writing community! i'm cc, an aspiring writer who is attempting to get back into writing original fiction again after around ~4 or so years of fanfic writing.
i've interacted with the community before and this is not my first writeblr intro, but i really started to stop both doing original writing and interacting with other writers on tumblr after covid hit, but i'm feeling a burst of inspiration, so i figured why not take a second shot at this. hopefully talking about my wips online will give me the motivation to keep working on them
about me
18+ and no i will not specify my age, but little to no sexual stuff (i do like angst though)
she/her
biromantic but currently feeling like a useless lesbian
also ace
virgo
psych major, writing minor
took four years of japanese
mostly fantasy and urban fantasy writing, dabbling in regional gothic, and whump writing
favorite book series is six of crows by leigh bardugo - it's actually what inspired me to become a writer
queer & neurodivergent friendly space
attempting to work on not being as socially anxious
u.s. american. unfortunately. at least i can vote now
also a big dnd, genshin impact, atla, pokemon and fma fan
have a cat and a dog
my wips

the town at the edge of the void
genre: debating whether i want to go more serious fantasy or more silly cozy slice of life

status: thinking & plotting
in the backburner
a traitor's return
genre: urban fantasy
if you've been here long enough or are an old follower of mine, you may have heard of this one with some of my first two ocs ever created, cary and jordie
status: honestly currently considering a major overhaul now that i've gotten more experience in writing. but that's also too much thinking
unnamed costal gothic wip
no plot, just vibes involving a desolate light house, possibly ghosts and either magic, murder or both. also lesbians
but it's had me in a chokehold for at least a year

i'm a little socially anxious but it's something i've been working on in real life, and i hope it translates to tumblr, too, so if you're interested in connecting with a fellow writer, it'd be greatly appreciated, and i'll attempt to do the same. best, cc!

Hi, a little life anon is here again✨
I don't want to spoil anything, so maybe we could chat about it once you've finished, but I was curious about your three favorite books, because judging by your writing you have a great taste and I love reading so much and always looking for recommendations🤍
also have a good dayyy🌟
how sweet of you to drop by again 🥹 just got home from closing shift which was hectic but all in all good 🩷 hope you had a good day too
it’s going a little slow atm, seeing as i have been prioritising writing and reading on here — i am about halfway through the good years but i will let yall know once i finish it
alright, so these three books are in no particular order btw
first one is harry potter and the prisoner of azkaban… now here me out. i am well aware that the hp books are not the best literary work out there. they’re technically children’s books after all. but hp is what initially got me into reading, and eventually writing and has played such a important role in my life over all. the third one i truly believe is in a league of its own. so the series is among my favourite more because of the sentimental value than the quality (not saying they’re bad or anything, because they are really captivating and magical)
also i’d like to add that i absolutely cannot stand jk rowling. that hag can rot for all i care and take her disgusting terf opinions with her 🥰
next is six of crows by leigh bardugo — i expected to like it, but it genuinely blew me away. the grishauniverse as a whole is very captivating, but six of crows is just so outstanding!! i am, as mentioned before, a very character based reader/writer and this series has such an amazing cast of characters with a found family trope 😩 i am sat
(also, kaz brekker has my heart fr… if it wasn’t obvious already by how i gravitate towards mean/grumpy/standoffish characters with dark hair)
third is pride and prejudice — i even have a quote from this tattooed because it just really has me in a chokehold. i am so insanely in love with mr. darcy that i wrote my bachelor thesis about how he is the epitome of the female gaze and why we all love him sm. not to mention, elizabeth bennet is actually such a lovely protagonist, i was so fascinated by how she is such a head strong female lead when the book is as old as it is. personally i feel like it is one of the greatest novels ever written and i will forever cherish the experience of reading it (and i am also a sucker for enemies to lovers and hate everyone but you. definitely my favourite tropes)
sooo, idk if i rambled for too long 🫣 also, if there are any books you would like to recommend i am all ears 🥰 again, thank you for dropping by sweet anon 🫶🏻

top 9 books
tagged by @gayarthur
(not in any order)
1. in memoriam by alice winn
as soon as i started reading this book i knew i wanted to reread with a pen. queer book set during ww1
2. blue lily, lily blue by maggie stiefvater
this book (and trc in general) had me in a chokehold when i read it in high school, not plot just vibes, the levels of mutual pining had me going insane
3. if we were villains by m l rio
i started this intending to only read about half go to bed and then finish it the next day because i’d already read one book that day and i finished it that night. another book i need to revisit with a pen. it has it all: murder, shakespeare
4. a man called ove by fredrik backman
this book is translated from swedish. the last book i read last year and the end had me sobbing. grumpy old man (who reminded me of my granddad) developing meaningful connections with his neighbours
5. the hunger games by suzanne collins
it feels like such a basic answer but this was one of the first books i ever sat down and read in one day. i borrowed it from the school library that morning and started it when our teacher gave us “free time” during our social science class and finished it at 1am. also when i was first on tumblr i was a hunger games blog (not this tumblr but my old one rip)
6. the poppy war trilogy by r f kuang (i know i cheated by including the entire trilogy but i don't care)
just this entire trilogy is so good (definitely check trigger warnings before reading though). i was originally intrigued by this series because it was described as “what if azula was the avatar” but it is so much more than that. explores the effects of war and colonialism
7. weather girl by rachel lynn solomon
one of my favourite romance books, two people who work for the same news channel work together to gets their divorced bosses back together (i just really love this trope, see: one of my favourite romcoms is set it up). touches on mental health issues.
8. six of crows by leigh bardugo
another super basic answer but i also hate that this book is considered a "booktok book" when it was originally a "tumblr book" but i loved all the crows (and also the pining between kaz and inej). just ✨fantasy heist✨
9. vicious by v e schwab
i have always been a big reader but this book got me seriously back into reading after i graduated uni and started working full time. the relationship between victor and eli is just so good and toxic and fascinating. i just love the way v e schwab writes
special mention to summer sons by lee mandelo because it was so so so good
and also the bumper book of peanuts comics because i love flicking through it when i need a pick me up
this list was genuinely so hard for me because i read so many books and then forget about them except for the feeling it left me
it also started with me trying to give short descriptions as to why i liked the books and ended in word vomit
also going to plug my storygraph (and if you see i'm 50 books behind on my goal no you didn't)
tagging @shitouttabuck @fatedking @disasterbuckdiaz @enchantingverse @uelut-erinaceus @killianjonesz
#tag game#thank you andrew for giving me an excuse to talk about books#this had me staring at all my books trying to pick out my favourites#i know some of you have probably already been tagged but if you haven't done it yet then it still counts#i was so tempted to include one of my hockey romance books in here

Interests Intro
I know I’m making a big assumption that anyone cares about what content I’m consuming, but when I hyperfixate on something, oh boy will I never shut up about it. So, to spare my friends and family from my extensive rants, I will be posting here about it. Feel free to not read any of this and get to the juicy stories on other parts of this blog, but to get a comprehensive view of my life as an asexual person, read ahead to see what content catches my interest!
Disclaimer: there will be a lot of discussions of old emo and pop punk bands in this section, and no I will not apologize for it.
That being said, here is a list, current to Nov 2023, of a bunch of stuff that I'm into:
Music - format: Artist {favorite album and/or “song”}
Fall Out Boy {Folie à Deux - “(Coffee’s For Closers)” and American Beauty/American Psycho - “The Kids Aren’t Alright” and Save Rock & Roll - “Miss Missing You”}
Sleep Token {Take Me Back To Eden - “Euclid” and “Chokehold”} Who gave them permission to include the lyric “So if your wings won’t find you heaven I will bring it down like an ancient bygone” in “Euclid” ??? Gives me goosebumps every time I listen
The Vaccines {“I Always Knew”}
Troye Sivan {There pretty much isn’t a song of his I don’t like, so I will just say that my favorite from his new album is “Still Got It” and I will always listen to “10/10” from In A Dream}
Wasia Project {“Remember When”}
I listen to a smattering of Kpop and Jpop bands: Official Hige Dandism, Gen Hoshino, Eve, The Oral Cigarettes, BTS, and Red Velvet
TV/Movies
Hell’s Kitchen (Maybe this makes me a bad person, but I love watching Gordon Ramsey yell at people at the end of a long day)
Heartstopper (because I am basic)
New Girl (a classic)
Red, White, & Royal Blue (also because I am basic)
Young Royals (because sometimes you need to witness a love story that will shake you to your very core)
DreamWorks’ Voltron: Legendary Defenders & She-Ra and the Princesses of Power (they are a set and no I will not be taking criticism on that)
Video Games
Five Nights at Freddy’s (I know way too much about the lore of this series. It's borderline a problem.)
Oxenfree (I haven’t played the second one yet but the first one has a very special place in my heart)
Pokémon (I’m a Brilliant Diamond/Shining Pearl stan but I understand that is probably an unpopular opinion. I just really love Luxray, okay?)
Books!
Leigh Bardugo’s Grishaverse: The original Shadow & Bone trilogy and the Six of Crows duology. The magic system is really unique and I love how Bardugo writes her characters.
Red, White, & Royal Blue by Casey McQuiston
The Simon Snow Trilogy by Rainbow Rowell
Aristotle & Dante Discover the Secrets of the Universe by Benjamin Alire Saenz. This book (and the sequel) always destroys me emotionally, but I wouldn’t have it any other way.
The Rook by Daniel O’Malley: The only adult science fiction book series I enjoy reading
Iron Widow by Xiran Jay Zhao: It’s like Pacific Rim combined with Chinese folk stories. It’s so cool.

my OTPS
BBRAE from Teen Titans - these 2 have had me in a chokehold since 2003
ZUTARA - i will ship these 2 til my dying breath. i will forever be bitter that they did not end up together (thank God for fanfiction)
KANEJ from Six of Crows by Leigh Bardugo - i fell in love them reading the books. the bathroom scene in crooked kingdom ruined me and i know the 3rd book is just going to bring more pain
BRELWYN (Bree & Sel) from Legendborn by Tracy Deonn - i just loved their dynamic from the moment they met. banter and intensity are their sole dynamic and i love it. they are definition of 'enemies to lovers' and i cant wait to see what deonn does with their dynamic in the 2nd book
KALLURA from Voltron - these two were adorable and they deserved better than what the showrunners gave them (Allura ESPECIALLY but im not tryna make myself angry so i wont go further). the way Keith was so soft with her, you can tell he held such deep affection and respect for her. if there is a next iteration/reboot of Voltron i hope whomever is in charge does right by these 2, they deserve it

Hey my dudes! My mental health has been in the pits as of late, and I’m sure a lot of you are in the same boat, thanks to the global pandemic of it all. I don’t know a single person that is genuinely doing alright.
Anyway, I’ve been reading a lot of fantasy books because I don’t have the mental capacity to handle the hard hitting literature on my TBR, much to my dismay.
I thought y’all might want some good fantasy recs in the meantime if what I’ve read and enjoyed this year as well as what’s on my TBR that is fantasy:
The Grishaverse (trilogy) and Six of Crows (duology) by Leigh Bardugo - I mean, if you’ve followed me at all this year you know I’m obsessed and you’ve likely read these already, but on the off chance you haven’t, check them out! I read them back in January in the midst of really bad PPD and these books genuinely were my safety net. They’ll always have a soft spot in my heart and I loved the Netflix adaption. Season 2 can’t come soon enough!
A Court of Thorns and Roses (series) by Sarah J Maas - So, these are apparently really controversial books. I mentioned them to one of my mutuals and the poor girl got bombarded with anons giving opinions all over the place about them. So, big yikes there. BUT. I fucking ADORED these books. They took me for a journey like never before and made me feel such a range of deep emotions that I had chills and tears in my eyes multiple times and screeched like an unholy demon more times than I can count. These books have me in a chokehold and I’m perfectly ok with that. There is supposedly going to be a Hulu series but tbh I don’t want it because I just don’t think it can live up to what’s in my head.
From Blood and Ash (series) by Jennifer L Armentrout - Ok, so I’ll be the first to admit the third book in the series is a little repetitive. I mean, if I have to hear Kieran make one more joke about Poppy asking too many questions, I’m going to crawl into the book and stab him myself. That aside, the world building is fascinating, and the twists these books take have had me shook thus far. The ending of the third book was such a cliffhanger it left me screeching. The heroin is a spitfire badass after my Daenerys Targaryen loving heart. It’s quite literally been healing for me to read her story and to see a man simp so hard for her like she deserves. PoppyCas is delightful.
Caraval (trilogy) by Stephanie Garber - the MAGIC. The ROMANCE. The INTRIGUE. This woman’s imagination astounds me. The pictures she paints are enthralling and captivating and you slip right into the world that is so rich with color and magic and you never wanna leave. These books have such an AESTHETIC I tell you. The romance in the first book is lovely, but the romances in the second and third? I can’t begin to tell you how much fun they are. I was absolutely feral over the love triangle.
Current read: The Bridge Kingdom (duology) by Danielle L Jensen - This is enemies to lovers with a cunning female protagonist, banter, and smut. I’m having a damn good time so far with the first book and have the second one staring at me excitedly. It’s a tropey dream and I can honestly say I think anyone who follows me would dig it.
I’ve got a ton of stuff on my TBR in the fantasy genre as well as some of the deeper novels and I’ll do a rundown and recommendation of them at a later date when I’ve finished a few more!
