BIRKWOOD CASTLE

Hi guys!!

I'm sharing Birkwood Castle. This is the 23rd building for my English Collection!

I decorated some of the house ground floor, for reference.

History of the house: 

Birkwood Castle, also known as Birkwood House, is a Gothic country house situated in Lesmahagow, South Lanarkshire, Scotland. Built in the 18th century, it was greatly expanded by the McKirdy family. In 1920 it was purchased by the local authority for use as a hospital.

Birkwood Castle was built in the late 18th century, and the original villa now forms the north wing of the house. It was greatly expanded in the Gothic style in 1858, and again in 1890 when the architect James Thomson of Glasgow designed the large west wing.

I did a house tour of the future home for Isaiah and Octavia Blackburn. I plan to do some speed builds over on my channel as well if you're into that or like having some background noise while you do your thing.

June 1920, North Shore, Long Island, New York

Considering Byron had spent most of his free time with the Gardenhouses for the past year, he supposed he shouldn’t have been too surprised when he was invited to their mansion in Long Island for the summer. The manor was built by Joshua Gardenhouse, who had founded the Gardenhouse Oil Company, a man who was born enslaved and died a millionaire. Both Samson’s parents, Tobias and Sandrine Gardenhouse, and Thaddeus and Stella’s parents, Jedidiah and Martha Gardenhouse, lived there year-round since the death of the Gardenhouse matriarch, Besty Gardenouse in 1915. It was the largest house Byron had ever seen. Sometimes he forgot just how wealthy the Gardenhouses were.

He nearly laughed shaking the hand of the four older Gardenhouses, thinking how both couples were Mr. and Mrs. Gardenhouse. Samson looked equally amused, standing with his cousins. 

“I insist, any friend of my son’s is to call me Ms. Sandrine,” Samson’s mother said. She glanced at her son. “You always make friends with such handsome men. Right, Stella?”

Byron blushed bright red as Stella laughed. 

The inside of the mansion was just as impressive as the outside. Portraits and fine furniture decorated the halls, and he was amazed by how grand the house was. The dinner was delicious, far better than any of the cooking he’d grown up with. It was full of spices and flavor. A part of him was tempted to find the chef and beg them to become his personal cook. If he could afford one.

“My father is perplexed by our friendship,” Thaddeus muttered after dinner, when they stood in the smoking room. 

Samson nodded. “Three Negro heirs to an oil company are friends with a British academic. You stick out.”

“Don’t I know it? Has he said anything?”

“Mama said you were polite, as did Aunt Sandrine and Uncle Tobias. But they don’t know you’re seeing my sister.”

He gulped. “How does he know?”

“My father has his spies. And you’re seen at my sister’s apartment quite often.” He glanced at his cousin. “But if he knew about you two… I can’t even imagine.”

Byron sometimes forgot that Thaddeus was aware of his cousin’s sexual inclinations. And that Byron was sleeping with him too. “...You must think me of some Casanova-esque fiend, Thaddeus.”

He shrugged. “If Stella was still in college… I’d have a different reaction. But we’re adults. I’d rather her have an affair with someone I know. And be grateful we live in New York and not the South.”

Samson frowned. “Yeah.”

“Is Stella aware that you’re a-”

“Homosexual? No. She’s a horrible gossip.”

He nodded, making a mental note to never tell Stella about his sexual relationship with Samson. 

The door opened, and Mr. Jedidiah Gardenhouse walked in. He glanced at his son and nephew. “I would like to speak to Mr. Walsh. Alone.”

They nodded and left the room quietly, closing the door behind them. Byron gulped.

“I want to thank you for inviting me again, sir. You have a beautiful home. And a wonderful family.”

Mr. Gardenhouse crossed his arms. “What are your intentions?”

“My intentions?”

“My brother and I are the richest Negros in America. My children and nephew will inherit the company my father created, and you are friends with them. You are neither wealthy nor colored.”

“If you are insinuating that I am friends with your children and nephew for financial gain, that is far from the truth, sir. I met Thaddeus and Samson in the war. They have been kind to me, and I am grateful for that. I don’t want your money, sir.”

The older man sighed. “And Stella?”

“We’re friends.”

“Do you understand that in some social circles in this country, my daughter could be jailed and murdered for carrying a sexual relationship with a white man? And out of wedlock? I will not have a bastard grandchild.”

“I understand, sir. And that is not my intention.  I don’t claim to be a saint. But I would never try to hurt Stella or Thaddeus or Samson. They are some of the few friends I have still left alive, sir. My brother, elder sister, and father are dead. My childhood best friend died in my arms during the war. And my two closest friends from Oxford are dead too. They have invited me here, and it has been my saving grace to be among friends after so much loss.”

He swallowed. “Will you return to England once you graduate?”

“I am not sure. I have no longing to return. I like America. I like New York. And I can get a job at any academic institution after I earn my doctorate. I will not need to rely on your family’s charity. I would be ashamed if I had to ask for it.”

Mr. Gardenhouse slowly smiled.  “You’re stubborn. That is a good thing to be in this cruel world. I admire your honesty, Byron. And your manners. Your mother raised you well.”

He couldn’t help but smirk. “Thank you, sir.”

Do any of you guys play video games?

I have an Insta dedicated just to my video games. I play all kinds of games from hack-and-slash to shooter but for the most part I post my cozy games because they involve so much decorating and they're prettier.

The cozy games I have played/am playing are Animal Crossing New Horizons, Stardew Valley, Disney Dreamlight Valley, Coral Island, House Flipper, Dinkum, My Time At Portia, My Time At Sandrock, Grow: Song of the Evertree, Fae Farm, Farm Together, No Place Like Home, Cozy Grove, Hokko Life, and a little of Palia though admittedly I'm having a hard time staying interested in Palia.

I've also been playing Hogwarts Legacy, Dragon Quest Builders 2, Witcher III Wild Hunt and have played Dying Light, Days Gone, The Division, Fallout IV, Halo, Fable, Destiny and many more.

Anyway, I made this post in case you guys wanna give me a follow. I'm usually not the type to shamelessly plug but ever since they changed Instagram to only showing people the top posts when they search something, I get absolutely ZERO interactions on my posts. It's crazy. My account wasn't super popular or anything but I at least got SOME feedback before. I hate what they've done to Instagram.

So, there was this build I saw on YouTube by BojanaSims but she doesn't include the cc. Looking at her list I thought I had most of it but turns out I did not. I searched for some and that's when I decided I would never do this to myself again. If it ain't included I will build it my damn self. Anyway, I made some changes to the exterior, but the real change happens inside. It's nothing like her interior. This is the future downsized house for Isaiah and Octavia, and they love bold colors. I'm so grateful we have creators like @kiwisim4 and @peacemaker-ic that make cc with more than just 20 shades of brown. Octavia's home studio

George and Rosalie’s Wedding - July 12, 1890

George and Rosalie’s wedding day was a celebration of love and resilience. It took place in a quaint, small church nestled in the heart of town. Rosalie, radiant in a simple yet elegant gown, walked the aisle accompanied by George’s brother William, since her own father was not there. She held a bouquet of wildflowers which had been hurriedly chosen from the garden at the farmhouse earlier that morning. To her, they were a symbol of her newfound freedom and the love she shared with George. 

Her eyes sparkled with happiness, despite the challenges she had faced and truly was still facing in the wake of leaving behind her old life. George, standing at the altar in his nicest outfit, looked at Rosalie with a mixture of admiration and love. He felt like the luckiest man in the world, knowing that he had found his true soulmate. The church’s wooden pews were filled with George’s family members, their faces beaming with joy and approval to see the youngest member of the Carter family married. 

The ceremony was intimate, the minister delivered heartfelt vows that emphasized the importance of love, unity, and facing life’s challenges together. As George and Rosalie exchanged these promises to each other, their voices didn’t waver, they were both filled with dedication to one another, knowing they had chosen each other above all else. 

Outside of the church the weather was nasty, a strong thunderstorm had found its way to the quaint New England town. Inside the church it was warm with the closeness and warmth of the Carter family, now one member larger. Cheers and well wishes of family and friends filled the small space as they sealed their promises to one another with a kiss. George and Rosalie embraced one another tightly, ready to embark on this new chapter of their lives, hand in hand. 

The reception, held in the town’s community hall after a short sprint through the heavy rain, was filled with laughter, music, and the rustic charm of a countryside celebration. It was a day of love, hope, and the triumph of their love story. A day that George and Rosalie would cherish for the rest of their lives. Together they had overcome obstacles and forged a bond that nothing could break.

Brindleton Legacy - Brindleton Bay

it consists of 3 structures, one is used as a guest house, or outbuilding for the butler.
