A sudden AVALANCHE of vitriol towards smokers on social media proves to me that in the main, people really like hating groups of people they will never meet and whose lives do not affect theirs in any way. Thanks to extensive legislation, smoking is banned everywhere indoors, and even in bus shelters. I am a sporadic smoker, but HUGELY mindful of how much other people feel about it, and I won't smoke if there's someone within five feet of me outdoors. I am amazed by how smokers are suddenly being described in the most class/politics coded language, though: "tattooed slobs", "the same people who would burn down a hostel for immigrants", etc. I totally understand the stance that smoking is terrible, but don't ruin your argument against it by claiming it's all white RW working class football fans who do it. That says more about your prejudices than any supposed health concerns you may have. Rant ends
