I find it very funny in retrospect that not one of the ppl so far have pointed out my political bent on the 'i hope rcg knows radical leftie queers watch their show'

Mostly bc i approach iasip like it was made by centrist sweaty gamer (theatre) bros with an ideology similar to mine but less materially cogent (as in medical care should be universalised but more taxes = bad 😔). Because it was. Obviously with time they've gotten a little softer round the edges but it's well clear that they're capitalists first and foremost. I actually preferred the bent they had in the first few seasons where it was much more direct about the critique rcg had towards aspects of organised society. Now it's very... well-meaning liberal democrat(ic party) with no teeth.

I think they think they're swinging at everyone but really they're taking themselves out at the kneecaps by not registering the foundation of material wealth that capitalism is built on. They feel fine to poke fun at aspects but god forbid they actually look at the overall structure. God forbid they look under the hood.

Also in their quest to generalise scenarios and make thing more relatable for everyone, with their perspectives as relatively wealthy people who are in the midst of middle-age with kids & business ventures, it definitely watered down that scathing kind of meta-analysis they had going on in the first few seasons that is far more understandable to a college-aged person or a blue collar worker. As they turned away from the real world they kinda lost that. But they're still absolutely excellent storytellers. That's what keeps the draw tbh. They figured out that 1 potent emotionally vulnerable arc in the midst of absolute buffoonery keeps the story compelling. And that's great.
