Summary: Abby hides Mike’s vest.

Mike and Abby are so precious and I love them. 10/10 sibling goals.

Mike’s patience was running thin. He loved his little sister with all his heart, but she was being incredibly difficult. He’d gotten dressed and was ready to walk out the door when he realized that he didn’t have his vest. Naturally, there could only be one culprit for the theft.

“Abs, come on… I gotta go to work. Can you please just tell me where my vest is?” Mike leaned against the doorway to Abby’s room, looking at his sister with a stern, yet pleading look.

The young girl sat cross-legged on her bed with her arms crossed over her chest, her expression one of pure stubbornness. She quickly shook her head.

“No! I’m keeping it hidden!” Came the bratty response.

The elder let out a sigh and rubbed his temples, clearly not in the mood for his sister’s shenanigans. At the same time though, he could tell that she wasn’t hiding it just for the fun of things. As if she read his mind, Abby spoke.

“I want you to stay here…”

Mike had a strong suspicion that that was the case. His expression softened and he let out another sigh, taking inventory of his options. It’s not like he could send her to her room… she was already there. Besides, that wouldn’t do any good, considering she knew where the vest was and he didn’t.

He suddenly got an idea… a way to get his vest back without making Abby hate him.

He slumped his shoulders and strolled over to the girl’s bed, kneeling in front of it to be at her eye level.

“You’re really not gonna tell me where the vest is, are you?”

As he expected, Abby, with a pout, shook her head vigorously, causing her short, dark hair to whack her in the face. Mike shrugged, getting back on his feet.

“Alright, Abs. I didn’t want it to have to come to this, but you leave me no choice…”

As soon as the words left his mouth, he swooped up his little sister and carefully pinned her to the bed, hovering over her. And then, without hesitation, he dug his fingers into Abby’s sides, causing her to squeal.

“Mike!!” Abby yelled through her giggles, wriggling around under her brother’s evil fingers.

“Where’s the vest, Abby?” Mike asked again. He was gentle, yet firm with his tickling, not wanting to hurt or overwhelm the kid, just wanting to know where his vest was.

“Mike, stohohop! I’m not telling!”

The elder raised an eyebrow, inching up to his sister’s ribcage, knowing it was a particularly sensitive spot. Abby’s response was a shrill burst of laughter and a whole lot of squirming.

“Oh, really? Then I guess I’ll just have to tickle you until you tell me.”

The younger yelped at the feeling of her brother’s nails scratching along her bare tummy, her laughter going up an octave or two.

Mike, despite trying to be serious (as serious as you can be when tickling your younger sibling to pieces,) could feel a smile tugging at the corners of his own lips, endeared by the sound of his little sister’s laughter. Abby didn’t talk very much, and when she did, it was mostly short replies or bratty remarks. Mike couldn’t remember the last time he’d seen Abby look so happy.

What was he doing? Oh, right… the vest.

“Abby, I’ve gotta leave in fifteen minutes. Either you tell me where the vest is, or this continues for the next twelve minutes.” Mike threatens, spidering his fingers around the girl’s stomach.

Overwhelmed by the tingly sensations in her stomach and mortified by the thought of this torture continuing for a whole twelve more minutes, the little thief finally caved.

“O-Okahahay! I’ll tell you where the vest is!” Squealed Abby, admitting defeat.

Seeing that the kid had had enough, Mike pulled away, crossing his arms expectantly. “Well?”

The child took a moment to gasp for breath before giggling out, “M-My pillowcase…”

Mike raised an eyebrow and slowly reached towards his sister’s pillowcase, keeping an eye on her in case she was setting him up and trying to make a run for it. When he felt a bunched up piece of fabric at the bottom of the pillowcase, he pulled it out and checked it for any marks or scribbles… not that Abby would do such a thing, but you could never be too cautious.

Once concluding that the vest was in perfect condition, he slipped it on and stood up, ready to head out the door. He then saw his sister’s melancholic expression and he sighed, kneeling down in front of her.

“Hey, I know we don’t really spend much time together anymore, but… I have tomorrow off.” Abby took her eyes off the floor to look at Mike instead.

“Why don’t you and I spend the whole day together? We could watch movies, play games, draw pictures together, even though I’m not an artist like you.” He smiled, tucking a stray hair behind his sister’s ear, getting her to giggle from his compliment.

She pretended to think about it, tapping her chin, which caused Mike to grin and gently shake her by the shoulder.

“Come oooon… say yes!”

The playful insistence made the young girl laugh and she finally gave in, pushing her brother away with faux exasperation.

“Okay, okay, fineeee!” Laughed Abby.

Mike’s grin softened and he stroked the back of his sister’s head. With some peace of mind, he started to head for the door before turning around again to look at the girl.

“Be good for Max, okay?”

“I will… even though I don’t like her very much.” Abby said with a cheeky smile, causing Mike to roll his eyes and stifle a laugh, not wanting her to think it’s funny to insult people, even though it kinda was…

Mike’s shift that night felt a bit easier than usual, the thought of spending time with his little sister getting him through.

He wouldn’t be making any excuses either. No matter what happened, he and Abby would be spending time together. After all… they were the only family they had left.

…

They had a mutual agreement that their aunt Jan didn’t count.

When was the last time you smiled?

It was the early afternoon at the Schmidt household, bright sunlight pouring in from the windows and into the living room where Mike and Abby were sitting. Abby, of course, was drawing yet another picture on the coffee table seated on the floor. Mike was dozing on the couch, in and out of sleep as he was still recovering from last night’s shift. The girl looked up momentarily to look at her sleeping brother, noticing the heavy darkness that hung underneath his eyes. She exhaled, not entirely sure of how to help him in any way. 

After a few more minutes, she felt her stomach growling with hunger and she wasn’t sure of how to make any food for herself. Abby stood and stepped to her brother’s side, gently shaking his shoulder. “Mike?” She asked. 

He grumbled in response, shifting on the couch and turning his head away. Why’d she have to bother him now, when he was finally able to get some peaceful sleep? 

Abby huffed and prodded him in the arm repeatedly, to which Mike didn’t budge. She was only met with annoyed grunts, growls and grumbles.

Or, at least, that was until she accidentally missed his arm and poked him in the side. Mike jumped and actually *squeaked*, moving away from his sister as his eyes fluttered open. “Abby.. don’t…” He growled, clamping his arms to his sides as he slowly woke himself up to guard himself from his now mischievous sister. 

Abby smiled and continued to prod and poke him in the side as soon as she realized what was happening. Mike covered his face with his hands, hiding his slowly spreading wobbly smile as he stifled chuckles. “Abby..” He growled through clenched teeth, giggling breaking through his tough facade. His sister continued nonetheless, now moving her little hands to his abdomen, which caused the man to curl in on himself and fall into low giggling that he was clearly trying to hide. “St—stohohop..” Mike tried to warn, punctuated by strangely adorable laughter. “I don’t remember the last time I saw you smile.” Abby commented, crawling on top of her brother to scribble her small fingers between his ribs. Mike let out a squeak and fell into a fit of not-so-tired-anymore laughter. He was definitely awake at this point as he struggled to stifle his loud laughter threatening to pour out. “Staahp! Abby!” He arched his back to high heaven as he buried his face in his hands, shoulders bobbing with strong laughter. He was trying so hard not to throw her off, while also trying not to give his sister what she wanted.

“Mikeeeey, you have to just let go!” Abby giggled, trying to get him to uncover his face while also still jabbing her fingers into his side. The man snorted in the middle of his laughing, his face flushing a shade of red as he did so. “ABBS-! Thihis isn’t fUHUnny!” Mike protested, eventually flipping his sister off of him and onto the couch cushion. He heaved for breath, his face still flushed as he wiped a little bit of sweat from his forehead. “You’re such a tease..” He chuckled, poking Abby in the side. Though he wouldn’t admit it, Mike did feel a lot happier now… and he enjoyed being tickled at the end of the day. He needed the laughs.

And… he found himself making mac and cheese 10 minutes later.

abby anderson -- blind date with josie saltzman. (1/4) urumi akamaki.

abby will be on a blind date with josie. abby is still getting used to a world that's normal and not post-apocalyptic, so they may be a bit uncomfortable at first only to open up later in the night.

alicia clark -- blind date with adam torres. (1/4) ramona flowers.

alicia will be on a blind date with adam. she is more outgoing and willing to enjoy herself at an event like this, so she'll probably have a fun time; making the most of the night.

bella swan -- blind date with brinna javik. (1/4) alice cullen.

bella will be on a blind date with brinna. even though she's a generally awkward person, she's eager to spend the evening with someone new and go outside of her comfort zone.

beth washington -- open to a date. (2/4) emily davis, max lightwood.

beth is actually excited for this event. i'd love to see her go with someone or find someone to spend the majority of the event with! she will be enjoying the party and wishing that she at least had her brother or sister there with her.

bigby wolf -- attending with snow white. (1/4) danika fendyr.

bigby is attending with snow. he won't exactly be in Big Bad Wolf Mode, but he'll be protective of her, of course, and will be on the lookout for any trouble or chaos that might happen during the event.

dora tonks -- blind date with bb-8. (2/4) eloise bridgerton, hagrid.

dora will be on a blind date with bb-8. she's actually looking forward to this blind date and getting to meet new people, even if the vibe of the event is ~romantic~. she'll also want to be seeing her friends and family and may even introduce them to her date.

draco malfoy -- going solo. (4/4) rabastan lestrange, hermione granger, harry potter, scorpius malfoy.

draco is going solo. but he has big feelings for lee jordan, and will probably spend most of the night bickering with him about complete and utter nonsense. also, he'll probably be drinking. a lot.

garrett -- attending with kate. (1/4) irina.

garrett is attending with kate. he loves a good party and will be making the most of it, socializing and getting to know other vampires. he won't be paying as much attention to the humans, given his current circumstances.

jyn erso -- attending with cassian andor. (3/4) ellie williams, ansel of briarcliff, sha hualing.

jyn is attending with cassian. she's still a bit wary of washington itself, having heard of the craziness that occasionally takes place here. cassian is her safe place, so she'll want to stay by his side.

louis weasley -- attending with wednesday addams. (2/4) fleur delacour, bill weasley.

louis is attending with wednesday. and in all honesty, he probably dragged her to the event kicking and screaming. he's looking forward to spending the evening with her, and showing her off to all of his friends and family. he knows how to have a good time, and will make sure that he does, as long as he has wednesday by his side.

luna lovegood -- attending with neville longbottom. (2/4) cho chang, lee hongjo.

luna is attending with neville. she's incredibly excited to go, having a deep love for most holidays. she will be all dolled up and is excited to see everyone!

maggie greene rhee -- going solo. (1/4) rosita espinosa.

maggie is going solo. however, she'll probably stay close to glenn, since he IS her husband, after all. she'll also want to make sure that no trouble arises. she does love valentine's day and will be enjoying herself at the same time, though she won't get crazy with it. she just wants to have fun on her mom's night out!

mike schmidt -- open to a date. (2/4) charlotte dilaurentis, jester lavorre.

mike isn't super eager to be attending the valentine's day event, honestly. he hasn't had a lot of romance in his life, which is part of why he plans on going alone. i'd love to have a date for him, though, to enjoy the night with! he's a big softy on the inside, and would be sweet to spend time with once he gets past his shyness.

rey palpatine -- attending with fred weasley ii. (3/4) samara palpatine, leia organa, han solo.

rey is attending with fred. she is super excited to get to know them better and to spend more time with them, especially at an event like this. she'll also be checking in with her friends and family to make sure that they're having a good time, too.

rhaenyra targaryen -- attending with harwin strong. (2/4) lidia cervos, penelope garcia.

rhaenyra is attending with harwin. they're ready for a night out away from the kids, though they love their children, a date night with their husband is very much needed.

theon greyjoy -- attending with sansa stark. (2/4) ridoc, filippa kosta.

theon is attending with sansa. and will be spending the majority of the event by her side. he's a little bit on the reserved side and will want to stay within his comfort zone, which is with sansa or other people that he knows.

will graham -- going solo. (1/4) yennefer.

will is going solo. despite this, he may gravitate towards someone that he feels a connection with. however, he will likely spend most of the night alone, or at least ~trying~ to socialize.

WTNV quick rundown - Live Show - The Attic

Now, I usually do the live show rundowns approximately in line with whatever episodes were posted around the same time, but I've had this in my inbox a while and kind of want the draft gone so here it is! I'm sure not much happened between August 2022 and August 2023...right? /sarc

Featuring the voice of Meg Bashwiner as Deb and Sympthony Sanders as Tamika Flynn.

In space no one can hear you scream, but they can see you scream, oho, they can see you just fine, Welcome to Night Vale.

Cecil found a door to an attic he didn't know he had, in which he finds a projector and slides from a childhood trip to the grand canyon which he didn't remember taking until he touched the slides.

Cecil plays the slides for 'everyone' even though only he can see them. He has nothing but positive memories of the trip, they are good memories but they feel completely brand new to Cecil as he remembers them. Such as;

Cecil brought up a beaver from his trip which pees in Abby's bed and she doesn't talk to him for a week. He also took home a snake that he claims looked like his mother, so he named it mother. It had a 'non-traditional number of tails'. He also remembers taking a stuffed animal (a taxidermy peasant) on the trip, which he left behind.

He keeps realising he's not sure who is taking the photos, especially one of them all sleeping. The pictures get weirder and weirder as he goes through them. The memories less perfect.

He plays it one last time and it shows a portal inside of the grand canyon, followed by the stairs to his attic. Cecil decides he must investigate the attic.

Cecil hasn't been the only one discovering a door to an previously unknown attic. He figures out that all the doors lead to the same attic, which contains the perfect object for each of them. A object which could not be perfect outside of the Attic due to now existing in an imperfect world and therefore started to change and warp.

Cecil is forced to admit that there was no family ropad trip to the Grand Canyon. His mother would talk about it sometimes and put them in the car but she would just turn back and tell them to go to bed.

Cecil decides he must create new memories. Therefore, Carlos, himself and Esteban will be going to the Grand Canyon once they figure out where it is and how to get out of NV to get there.

He also figures out via runes found in the Attic which match Wendy's new runic name that it's part of their new campaign to create a perfect burger. Greg, their new life coach, is the one who gave them advice to create this interdimensional space where everything is perfect. After this, Greg is giving up the life coach business after advising them to do this and opening a curiosity shop in Maine.

Weather: "Words Are Hooks" by Danny Schmidt

Other people affected and what they found include; Tamika Flynn, who found a doll called Wretched Gretchen. She has fond memories of the doll for a while, before realising she is holding a pumpkin not a doll and having more negative memories of it. She was apparently more charmed when it was being creepy as opposed to cute.

Larry Leroy found an old air riffle he believes he used to shoot tin cans with and he used to have tournaments with his brother. Later it turns to memories of shooting birds - none of which are real.

Dana believes she found an old saga gensis she used to play with it with her grandfather. Later it turns into a shoe box full of mud which when reached into is deeper than it looks and contains her grandfathers watch, stopped at the exact time of his death.

Jackie Fierro found an old novel she used to love which she used to read to escape her rocky childhood. Later she realises it just hasn't held up. This is apparently true.

Harrison Kip believes he found a first edition mint condition Lee Marvin baseball card from his rookie year. This confuses Cecil because he doesn't remember Lee Marvin ever getting into baseball, but Harrison insists he played for the NV Orange Milks and then got into movies after that. His card might actually be a copy of Wuthering Heights.

Cecil also remembers through the sides, having a childhood dog, black and white, floppy ears, loved to eat dice called Backgammon (or Gammy). He also used to call his grandmother Gammy, who he says he played with, but also that she died before either he or Abby was born. Also Gammy the grandmother used to act very bizarrely.

Cecil's has a therapist, an iguana called Eugene over at the Pet Co' who 'really listens'.

Cecil teaches children about meditation in the Fun Facts Science Corner. Apparently the military wants to try and use meditation to create super soldiers. Cecil tries to guide everyone in meditation but accidentally teaches them to teleport and can't get them back home.

There are tryouts happening for a cheerleading soccor squad. Captain Rowan O'Donahue is the cheerleading captain and comes on the air to talk about the tryouts. He says soccor games are called soccor appointments. He tells us a brief history of cheerleading, claiming it came from Norman times. He says in England soccor is called lacrosse. He gets everyone to do a call and response chant. Those who don't make it will be put on 'a list'. Just 'a list'.

Abby used to be a cheerleader and was the smallest on her team. Being a cheerleader apparently involves some kind of trial where you collect life pendants.

Cecil's room apparently has no windows, blood stains which are still wet and human and chips of bones in it.

You can apparently get your eyes removed and cleaned at the sunglasses place in NV.

Apparently Cecil (after seeing The Craft) started to dabble in witchcraft.

There is apparently a Cave of Despair in NV which Cecil tries to trick a Leo (any Leo, all Leo's) into.

Joan of Arc was a photographer, according to Cecil.

Cecil becomes aware that music plays whenever he starts to talk and starts to question why and where it comes from. He plays around by saying different things in different tones to change the music. He then discovers that there is indeed a man close by to him playing music and is surprised by the fact. He suggests swapping places with the man. The man is kind of embarassed and not sure what to say and Cecil is not very good at playing music either. The man tries to tell a joke but 'doesn't understand humour'.

I am a tall, curvy straight female with blonde hair and blue-green eyes.

I am introverted, intellectual, I have a bunch of interests and hobbies, which I tend to hyper fixate on. I am also a bit of a jack of all trades as I like to learn/teach myself how to do a wide variety of things.

I have a very idiosyncratic point of view, I'm bookish and very interested in history. I have a knack for accurately predicting the likelihood of the future. I tend to test people to see if I can trust them a lot but then I become a friend for life. Literally, a ride or die. I have hidden dimensions and intensity and they're hidden because I'm pretty withdrawn. Wanting to watch people from afar to see if I can even poke my head out of my shell around them.

I tend to act arrogant, cryptic, or cynical when afraid. I can be diplomatic and say things without saying them. I am defiant/rebellious towards authority and habitually find counterexamples to whatever others assert. Despite this attitude, I'm incredibly loyal, hardworking, ambitious, and very idealistic.

I struggle with ADHD, social anxiety, and paranoia. I can brood over injustices or entertain conspiracy theories. I am a bigger fan of sneaky vengeance over outright confrontation. I can be passive-aggressive and self-attacking. I love all animals though I never want to personally own a dog, due to how needy and loud they are. I'm more of a cat or reptile person.

I like to record my thoughts out loud and later organize them.

I'm also currently fighting the urge to delete this because I think I sound very full of myself in this lol

Thinking he isn’t always deserving of it. Afterwards you’d both go in different rooms to brood until ready to make up.

BrOTP - Niklaus Mikaelson. Klaus would admire your intelligence, ambition, hard working and even defiant attitude. Your skills and ability to think differently from everyone else. He would also come to you for advice though he wouldn’t always adhere it. Though what Klaus would love most of all is your loyalty. Especially after he made it through all your tests and found himself on the receiving end of your loyalty. And he would feel guilty when your loyalty and friendship with him would cause a rift in your relationship with his brother. 

NOTP - Damon Salvatore. Damon is impulsive and has his own way of testing the loyalty  of those around him. Though his form of testing is more of him doing things that makes them less loyal and trusting of him. He’d probably end up trying to test and strain your loyalty towards Elijah and Klaus. Which would infuriate you. And he would fail which would infuriate him.
