you know when you experienced something so traumatizing or grieved too hard your brain sort of temporarily locked that memory to protect you from the pain? i think that's what's been happening to me after deadpool 2 bc tell me why every time i rewatch that movie, i always forget how painful these scenes are?

they always leave me sobbing and totally wrecked but with each rewatch i'd just... forget they would eventually happen and i'd eventually get hurt??

Smthg about season 1 Jinx being like "tell me who to be: Jinx or Powder" and she picked Jinx herself, choosing to leave the past behind. But then season 2 introduces Isha who reminds Jinx of Powder. Like she wants to be rid of her old self and the reminder, but she can't. It sticks with her, one way or another

And the difference is season 1 had Jinx mad about this, but in season 2 it's healing. She accepts it. Isha reminds her of herself and that's a good thing. It's like Isha almost reframes (or could reframe later on) what Jinx thinks about Powder, in a way

Unfortunately now that I’ve finally seen it, I 100% cannot stand the Solavellan ending and like I knowww that’s in large part because I’ve been functioning on a different level with the ship the entire time but it’s just sooo forgiving of Solas and sooo tragic for Lavellan and does not include the most fascinating element of their dynamic to me which is ‘Solas starts to see the value of the current world because of how much Lavellan loves it and is so deeply part of it’ and in fact fully discards it because Lavellan just fucks off to fade prison for “true love”

#datv spoilers #datv critical #it is not the worst thing about the datv ending (that’s the secret ending doing character assassination) but listen #I have spent so many years loving Lavellan in a ‘framed photo on my desk for over five years’ sort of way #and the entire game just feels so cruel to her (and those who loved the past games because wtf do you mean everyone is Ferelden is dying)#and then to have her end reward to All The Shit The World Has Done To Her For Over A Decade #is fade prison??? leaving it all behind for fade prison because she’ll get her kisses in???#anyways I think the solavellan ending should be that solas binds his godhood to the veil to sustain it and goes to live a mortal life with #lavellan and her dalish tribe and just shutting up about how things should be and how the dalish don’t understand #and just accepting how their culture is good and beautiful just as it is #and lavellan gets to share what she loves and build a beautiful normal life #they can sit under the tree planted for the death of my lavellan’s mother and watch her nephews play and enjoy both how even if the world #is radically different and was broken it has grown into something worth loving and #that all the effort lavellan expended to save everything was worth it #anyways I can and will talk about datv for hours but alas it is not in the same ways I can about dragon age in general #I am biting biting biting biting biting forever #brain thoughts

Just finished listening to the ancient rome sidequest again and I'm still feeling so emotional about Sasha. Like she never expected to live long but now she gets so much time and she's in a safe place with people she cares about. She doesn't have to violently die in a fight like she likely thought she would but instead she gets to have a new chance at a life. She actually gets to be happy.

#The end of her story makes me so happy #that as she walks away from rome at the end she gets to leave the pain and destruction of her old life behind #and just like the ruins of rome her past will still be there and real but she can live a good live despite it #it just means so much to me #that no matter how many hardships you had to endure you still have a chance at happiness #I'm not even sure how coherent I am right now I've been busy crying the last few minutes #sasha rackett #rqg #rqg spoilers #rusty quill gaming

Still thinking about that one time in Hammer of Thor when magnus remembers annabeth telling him that they can't give up on randolph, literally saying "He's family, Magnus,... We can't give up on family." do yall think she was thinking of luke when she said that? because even though he did kinda get magnus killed, his intentions and heart were in the right place just like luke😭 luke wanted revenge for the awful shit the gods had done to him so he walked the wrong road and killed and sacrificed anyone who got in his way just so he could make the world "better". and randolph sided with loki (somewhat) and got magnus killed so he could get his family back. uhh anyways

tl;dr the magnus, randolph situation in HoT probably reminded annabeth of her and luke and that is the reason I cry at night

#something to be said not just about how Ibrahim aims to replace his past family with his present bond with Süleiman (and Musti and Mahi #branch off of that bond) but also how Hatice fits in all of this - the one Ibrahim leans on everytime he's likely to lose SS is *her*#she isn't just the future he wants to secure in the castle but also the past he yearns for outside of it especially in that initial period #of their relationship; and not just any past but a very particular fragment of it - the next most valuable person of his past other than #his brother: his *mother*. it's no wonder him playing *his mother's* melodies with the violin marks the beginning of their story and stays #an important motif throughout. just like Ibrahim's mother Hatice is so familiar yet so out of reach (and this unreachability accumulates in #E13 - Ibrahim leaves for Parga thus returning to his past but leaving Hatice behind but *then* finding out his mother is gone too.#*both* people he wants to be close to soo much are *gone* in that moment. there's a link between them because of this. also Hatice tieing #lbrahim's mother to “heaven” as well and her “looking at their happiness from above” Ibro responds with in E14.) Hatice will distance #more and more from that role later on until lbrahim starts to outright abandon this whole 'return to the past' idea with Hatice and #search for it through Nigar instead. but yeah anyway I feel these two scenes are the perfect encapsulation of how complicated #the past is for lbrahim; he avoids remembering it because it *hurts* to remember both because why would he remember it when he already has #an established future and because deep down he resents what he's become and established as that isn't ever permanent and he's lost all else #*himself* most of all as who is a person without his roots? he wants to forget them but can't ever do it so what's left is replacing them #*all of them*; when he finds Hatice too he wants to have *both* her and Süleiman and SS marrying Hatice off directly challanges that want #up to that point he believed in the possibility of their love more than Hatice did; now? he seems as lost as she is not knowing what to do #the only way not to lose either of them is accepting Süleiman's order convincing himself that this is how it should be no matter how much #that hurts and would bury him even deeper; he can't bear it so he searches for a solution - and when he sees Rhodes sea? it hits him #it hits him how low he's actually sunk through the losses and if he can't “fully* replace the past he'll *fully* return to the past letting #*everything else* once hidden out as well. not to mention how right before he left to Parga he was brought to fear for his literal death #and then he is given more power that also brings some uncertainty with it and that likely scared him cementing his departure for Parga #directly following Piri Pasha's advice to let power go as it won't let *you* go #(btw a big contrast between S01 and S03 Ibrahim can be drawn in his relationship with Piri Pasha and his relationship with Ebusuud)#magnificent century #muhteşem yüzyıl #muhtesem yuzyil #ibrahim pasha #(sorry for the disorganized tags but if I kept it like it was I would've exceeded the limit before I even finished 😅)#(just Ibrahim and Hatice in general are people who latch onto each other to get over their losses and ache for peace amidst their turbulent #lives and positions and that's what keeps them close and will later too)

#full disclosure in case this blows up somehow because of booktok or something - IT'S NOT JUST BOOKTOK CRITICISM OR HET ROMANCE CRITICISM #this is me getting annoyed about the fact that the genre itself is oversaturated with too many of the same cookie cutter plot #girl in magic land meets guy and they hate each other but they don't really!!! but their love grows over the tides of the kingdom's war.....#<- THIS PLOT RIGHT HERE. I'VE SEEN FIVE SEPARATE AUTHORS DO THIS #and again - to clarify - it is NOT just booktok with this oversaturation issue #regular fiction is oversaturated with WW2/victorian era romance dramas - where the plot is good! but then A GUY SHOWS UP #AND THE WOMAN MUST MAKE A CHOICE..... TO SUPPORT HER CHILD OR LEAVE BEHIND HER OLD LIFE etc etc WE GET IT. FUCK.#and it's not just fiction too!!! the charts are oversaturated with crime novels in general right now #granted - most of them are good and try to be original - however there's just too many in the main chart #i won't list all of them to prevent drama - but in two past 'six new chart topper' deals - four were crime #and they haven't sold well. even bringing in popular authors didn't help them sell well #there needs to be a shake up. i don't want to be elitish or snobbish - PEOPLE CAN 100% WRITE WHAT THEY WANT #everyone's art is unique and beautiful because they did it #and they have the freedom to do so #but writers nowadays are falling too much into keeping with trends that it's actively tiring out consistent readers #write your fantasy novel - but lean into the worldbuilding. write your world war novel - but elaborate outside the characters.#write your fiction or crime - but try to vary up the beats of the plot to surprise readers more #stop trying to cater to what you l they want and what works - try and surprise them with something new and unexpected.#anyways rant over. i can talk about this for ages but i won't. but i could #spark talks about nothing of relevance #clip from the shadow the hedgehog rtfd 👍 thank you devil. from bible.
