Just a few more, you thought. Scrubbing the dish in your rubber-gloved hands. Dinner was almost done in the oven, and Jake would be home soon. The once savory aroma seeping from the oven now made your stomach churn. God, not now. Anxiety constricted your heart as the wave of nausea hit you. You wish you could say it was a rare occurrence, but nausea was hitting you at inopportune times all week. Elle had even caught you in the bathroom.

"Cali, when did you last have your period?"

The question haunted you, as you drove home from the lab and as you stormed the aisles of the CVS for a pregnancy test. You and Jake had just moved in together, and you were barely out of graduate school and navigating job offers. The unused test was buried in your bathroom drawer, stress and anxiety deterring you from finding your answer.

What would Jake think?

If it was positive, would he even want to have a baby with you?

Were you even ready to have kids?

Did he even want to be a father?

Crack!

The dish in your hands slipped out into the sink, breaking into multiple pieces. Your hands clutching to the edge of the sink, tears brimming your eyes. "Lass, I'm home. Where are you, pretty girl?"

The sound of the front door closing and the soft thuds of Jake's boots being placed near the door made you wipe your brimming tears from your eyes.

Trying your best to hide your sniffles, you called out to him from the kitchen.

You could feel your heartbeat batter against your ribcage as his footsteps drew nearer. It took all you had to not break into tears as Jake greeted you with that warm, love filled smile. His smile faltering as he took in your tear puffy eyes. Your body tensing as his warm, soft hands cradled your hips. His eyebrows furrowing at the feeling of your rigid body against his.

"Everything go ok, today?"

Your eyes met his at his soft tone.

"Yeah, I'm ok. Just- I broke a plate."

His eyebrows furrowed more, eyes moving from you to the shattered plate in the sink. You never cared this much about broken cutlery or tableware.

"I'll be back in a few." You said, trying to quickly take off your rubber gloves. Jake swallowed as he felt your rigid body glide past him, the bathroom door closing with a click.

Worry started to flood his heart as he picked the pieces of the plate out of the sink. You probably just needed some time alone to process whatever had happened, he thought. Jake had finished dealing with dishes in the sink and placed last night's BBQ leftovers in the oven for dinner for the both of you. He looked at the clock. You'd been in there for a good while.

The soft knock on the bathroom door brought your head out of your hands, your body still atop the toilet cover. The unopened pregnancy test still on the counter.

"Sweetheart, everything going ok in there? I have dinner heating up. Should be ready in a few."

He spoke softly through the door, his body leaning against the door frame.

Your lip quivered, your breath starting to heave as the floodgates opened, tears flowing down your cheeks.

Your voice cracked, "It could be better."

Jake gently opened the door, his chest constricting at the sight of your tear flushed eyes and cheeks. He rushed to your side, gently holding you close, laying a kiss to your forehead.

"Cal, what's going on?" he said, voice full of concern.

You felt your lip quiver against his chest.

"I think I might be pregnant," you murmured against his chest.

He gently pulled his chest away, eyes soft.

"Baby, I didn't catch that."

You sniffled, biting into your lip and closing your eyes for a brief moment, taking a breath before repeating your statement through sniffles.

His eyebrows shot up, his hand that was rubbing soothing circles along your shoulder froze, his lips parting.

He cleared his throat, "Are you sure? Have you taken a pregnancy test yet?"

You shook your head, "I've been too scared to. It's on the counter."

He watched as you absentmindedly pointed towards the bathroom sink. He stood up, reaching for the box before returning to your side.

"Sweetheart," he murmured, letting you snuggle into him as you both settled onto the tiled floor.

"I'm with you no matter what this little piece of plastic tells us."

"You promise?"

He nodded, using his finger to cross his heart with a genuine smile.

You sniffled, feeling your throat grow tight.

"Do you-would you ever want to have a baby with me?"

Your teary eyes and teeth biting into your lower lip made his heart sink.

He brought his lips down to meet yours.

"Of course I want to have babies with you. I love you, sweetheart, and there isn't anyone else I would think about making babies and raising them with than you."

You blushed, a grin overcoming your features.

His grin widened. "There's that beautiful smile."

You wiped your eyes on your sweater sleeve.

"And, there's no rush, Lass, if you're not ready to be a mama, then we can wait a while. Figure things out."

Your heart eased at his words.

"We should probably rip off the band aid tonight, to take the uncertainty off of your mind."

You nodded, wiping away the last remnant of your tears before starting to prepare the test. Jake gave you a kiss on the forehead before giving you privacy. He snuggled up with you on the couch, bowls of dinner in hand as you both waited for the test to give you both an answer. Jake took your mind of off the test by talking about his day on base and asking about your work in the lab. The change in conversation bringing you some comfort.

The timer from your phone cut like a knife through your conversation.

You swallowed as you got up from the couch, Jake following you in tow, taking hold of your hand. Biting your lip as you eyed the flipped over test on the counter, Jake gave your hand a squeeze.

"Remember, whatever it says...we'll deal with it together. Ok?"

You nodded, tears starting to brim again. He gently took your face in his hands, swiping away your tears with the pads of his thumbs.

"I'll always be here, sweetheart." He placed a kiss to your forehead.

"Do you want me to flip it over, or do you want to?"

You swallowed, "Let's do it together."

He nodded, gently moving his hand with yours to grasp the plastic test.

"Alright, Lass, on the count of three."

Your breath grew shakier with each ascending number, clenching your eyes shut.

"3."

You could feel the test flip in your hand and Jake let out a shaky breath. From disappointment or relief, you couldn't be sure.

Opening your eyes, the black lettering stared back at you.

Pregnant.

OK, fair warning to the few people I actually managed to convince to try the game??

Rain world does NOT play like hollow knight, and you'll get your butt kicked if you approach it like that.

It's really hard. Like, really hard. Instead of the game literally giving you abilities in the form of power-ups and damage buffs, the only abilities you gain is from what you learn and your own ingenuity. You're a rat from beginning to end. If you just beef your way through it, it's gonna suck and you're gonna be confused and frustrated all the time. But if you pay attention, take it slow, and learn how the ai works and how everything interacts with each other, you can consistently get through and dominate situations you thought were impossible to do so when you first began. Now get out there, kill some lizards, and bully some old computers!

A Batfam AU where instead of going to get Dick to be Robin again Tim uses necromancy to bring Jason back from the dead. He just leaves Jason on the Wayne doorstep with a 'do better this time' sticky note. Batman can't find out who did it and Tim stays his little latchkey self with semi ok but distant parents (cus canonical they weren't really abusive just not there which isn't good but they could be worse). His parents bring him along on trips but again they love him but they just leave him to do as he pleases. so in Paris he ends up still getting trained by Lady Shiva. This keeps going and Tim just keeps reviving batfam members, if they fake their deaths and Tim tracks them down to check on them. They still have no idea who their shadow is, they can't find him, Tim likes it this way. Bruce goes MIA and Red Robin happens just minus Tim actually being Red Robin. The JLA doorstep gets a passed-out Batman with a 'I can't believe I have to keep doing this shit' sticky note on his head.

I'm so annoyed. @kingcrow01 tumblr ate your ask about Danny's opinion on the League. tumblr i pressed 'save draft' why didn't you sAVE DRAFT.

ANyways I'm making a post instead. For everyone else, the ask was in summary:

What was Danny's opinion on the League now that he's left it? If he missed the familiarity of it, if he recognized the cult-like behavior inside it, and if he now detested his grandfather.

And to answer (again, grrr): It's complicated! We love complicated <3. Yeah, Danny does miss the familiarity of the League, it was still his home for the first ten years of his life and he has a lot of memories there. Plenty of good along with the bad, and while he's less homesick than he was when he was 10, it still hits him like a truck at random intervals.

Sam, Tucker, and Jazz are great, and he likes the Drs. Fentons enough that he's contemplated murdering Vlad for his meddling, but if he wants to eat the same food his mother used to make him and Damian, he has to do it himself and he can't get the taste right. No one knows arabic so he speaks it to himself because he doesn't want to forget his mother tongue, and he has a few books too. Frankly? He genuinely misses training.

Getting to use Sam's gym helps with his restlessness, same with training with Maddie, but he has no one on or above his level to go against other than his mother. And he only sees her twice a year at most. He knows that he's getting stagnant and he fucking despises it like a bad itch he can't scratch.

He feels conflicted about missing the League, however, since by now he recognizes the flaws and what was wrong with it, and he recognizes that it was cult-like. But even that is kinda, hrm, complicated? If this was a fic I would be able to go better into depth about what he has and hasn't unlearned because cult deprogramming is hard and Danny's doing most of this on his own.

Sam, Tucker, and Jazz have helped with the more obvious stuff: like the ecofascism, the disregard for human life, his emotional constipation; the more obvious stuff that shows in his behavior and personality. But none of them are professionals nor do they actually know the full extent of what Danny's life in the League was like. They only have snapshots since Danyal is very tight lipped about it. So they can only help with what they see themselves through Danny's behavior or word of mouth.

But in summary: He sees, for the most part, what's wrong with the League and disagrees with some of the stuff they do now. But he's very conflicted, and trying to dissect his feelings on the League confuses him. His protests about it whenever Sam and Tucker joke about it have at this point become mostly empty (altho it still causes him some discomfort), and its an inside joke between them three.

As for Ra's? Despises him. If only because Ra's wanted him to kill his little brother -- thinking about his motives with the League confuses Danny, cognitive dissonance and stuff, -- a lot of his hatred stems from "He wanted me to fight my baby brother to the death. I destroyed my relationship with Damian because of him, I had to fake my death and leave my home, and I will never meet my father or see my brother again because of him. Fuck that guy."

I'd personally say something like, "Hi, During our section in sociology around relationships, I couldn't help but think it would be interesting to discuss how a sociological theory called "amatonormativity" might relate to these lessons. I gathered a few sources from the professor who coined it, a thesis written on it, and a law review written about the connection between it and laws in the USA. There's some connections between its use in feminist thought and in queer theories, and I'd love to know your thoughts about it. I personally was thinking of when [specific statement] was said, and how I would apply this theory. I hope it's as interesting to you as it is to me."

How many dishes can the guys make? As robots, I can see that they would have a lot of knowledge due to the internet, but do they have any criteria as to the theme of the restaurant or the amount of time it takes?

great question!

the restauarant is specifically a cha chaan teng, a Hong Kong style cafe so the majority of the menu revolves around that cuisine

however!! the DCA boys often introduce new menu items, as well as weekly and seasonal specials!

Sun is the most adventurous in cooking new dishes. he is very interested in learning new recipes, new cooking methods, ingredient substitutions, etc! he takes it all as a personal challenge to experiment with new recipes

Moon will often try new dishes based on current trends—like he would totally be making variations of the Dubai chocolate bar and tanghulu and cucumber salads right now haha! honestly if he could, he'd love to travel and try all different kinds of foods around the world

As the barista, Eclipse also experiments with new drinks. along with their standard cafe drinks (like tea, coffee, ovaltine, etc.) he also has a seasonal drink selection to match the themes of the season. so it's autumn now, he'd have pumpkin spice milk tea, sweet potato latte, and mooncake hot chocolate for mid-autumn festival—all decadent, warm and cozy drinks that feel like a warm hug!

they have an ever-changing “surprise me” special, which is a unique meal that combines the dishes they've been experimenting on. it's like a very casual omakase. it's not a very popular set, since it constantly changes, but it is at a reduced price. the customers’ feedback also helps them improve the dishes. see, the boys can eat (as an alternative way to charge) and they do have taste and scent receptors, but they struggle with textures and mouthfeel because they don't have a squishy human mouth. so getting customer feedback on their experiments really helps them out. i imagine the "surprise me" special would be popular among students who are on a tight budget and are willing to try something new each time, cuz even though it's a mystery, they know it's great value for the price since the boys put all their effort into all their cooking

Working on an adaption of an existing media as a long form project is honestly my strongest recommendation for getting your creative brain going! Of course, there is still planning and hard work that goes into it, but the biggest creative pressures are much lower (And when anxiety brain is quiet, art brain thrives!)

That said, projects like this are a huge commitment, and I'm a bit of a freak case when it comes to the grind. PD-Scumvillian and I both put a lot of work behind the scenes to make it seem as effortless as it is. I'm wholeheartedly giving you my support should you go through with it; feel free to reach out and ask for tips and tricks!
