warriors: the new prophecy #3: dawn
date started: 21/01/2023 | date finished: 03/02/2023
how are all these cats so rude like, brambleclaw having a go at hawkfrost for not being clan born meanwhile they share a horrible father. any sort of superiority they think they have, they always use it to talk badly of other cats for their circumstances. which like, being born a kittypet, or rogue is not all too bad. firestar and cloudtail turned out fine, russetfur was a rogue, i think there were some bloodclan members and rogues that joined shadowclan.
how can he have respect for firestar, who was born outside of the clans, but also insult other cats for the very same fact.
and almost every cat does it, throughout the entire series.
spottedleaf is here again!!! no more, why can’t it be another medicine cat coming to them in their dreams. yellowfang exists, or bluestar, whitestorm, lionheart, redtail. there’s many thunderclan starclan cats to choose from to send messages to the living, but it’s always spottedleaf because she’s just so nice!
like she is in love with leafpaw and squirrelpaw’s father and interferes with his love life and upsets sandstorm (who barely talks in this book despite her kits taking up the entire pov of the books). something about it being her talking to them is so icky. i think she literally mentions to leafpaw about how they could have been her kits if she wasn’t a medicine cat? it’s so creepy, leave them alone. it should be yellowfang, who literally saw firestar as her son and it would be fitting that she cares for firestar’s kits. oh well!!
and instead of the psychic powers that link squirrelpaw and leafpaw being the way that squirrelpaw finds out where leafpaw is, it’s of course, a dream featuring my least favourite, spottedleaf. get out of here!!!!
graystripe gets captured and brambleclaw orders everyone to run away. immediately after thunderclan’s deputy is catnapped, leafpaw notices how different brambleclaw is “an experienced, confident warrior, calmly issuing commands in spite of the huge danger they were all in”
i guess if i hadn’t read it already i wouldn’t notice how obvious it is that they are hinting at brambleclaw being graystripe’s replacement
is this how squirrelpaw and brambleclaw start to fall out? by her discovering hawkfrost is his half brother and thinking he has evil ambitions like tigerstar? because i know brambleclaw becomes closer with hawkfrost eventually and squirrelpaw must not trust him and encourages brambleclaw to distance himself from hawkfrost? i think that’s how the brambleclaw, squirrelflight, ashfur drama must start. because i don’t remember it, but i’m calling it now from reading the beginning of chapter 11. i hope i can come back and write that i was right about it!
sunnyfall noted that because the writer this time was kate cary rather than cherith baldry, there’s different character dynamics. like mothwing and leafpool not being as close (sad), mothwing and hawkfrost getting along better because hawkfrost is less aggressive, stormfur doesn’t have a crush on squirrelpaw (thank goodness), and leafpaw and squirrelpaw don’t have a psychic connection to each other.
i was sitting here wondering, now what the hell does “a dying warrior will guide the way” mean, a living clan cat will start to die and then show them the way, a starclan cat will come to talk to them? no a shooting star. that makes much more sense but i would have also never guessed it. it’s quite a minor point in the book so i don’t blame myself for not remembering it.
i had forgotten that crowpaw asks tallstar that his warrior name be in memory of feathertail, i like it. he’s lucky that his prefix works with the suffix “feather”. it’s a nice name. although i’m sure the authors did plan his name from the beginning.
i’m sad that stormfur feels like he’s lost everything in the clans that ties him to them. he has lost his mother, sister, father, and even his mentor. i guess his closest relationship left would be mistyfoot. it feels a little weird that everyone related to graystripe has been taken away from the clans. of course i know graystripe comes back later. i don’t even like graystripe that much because he’s hot headed and annoying, but his kits and their relationship to bluestar’s kits and her story are something i really like about the first arc. plus stonefur’s death was horrible and i feel bad that mistyfoot’s family is all gone. like blackclaw is her mate and is mentioned in the allegiances but like, she had kits last arc and none of her kits are mentioned as warriors or apprentices in this book. according to the wiki, reedwhisker is mentioned in moonrise, but won’t appear again until twilight. poor mistyfoot, the rest of her kits don’t live into adulthood and reedwhisker is not even mentioned in books that he’s supposed to be alive in. maybe he’s mentioned in the actual chapters of the books, but there’s too many cats from other clans in this book to remember who’s there and who isn’t.
like throughout the entirety of the journey from the forest to the lake, i obviously know that mousefur is a character, she’s alive, she even has an apprentice. but she isn’t mentioned at all. illustrations to accompany the chapters would be cool, that way, even without being mentioned, you could look at the illustrations and go “ooh that’s mousefur, and her apprentice spiderpaw!” even cloudtail and brightheart aren’t mentioned after they are rescued from the humans.

eh if i draw it then itll take up too much time so im just gonna ramble abt it
-so im sure a fair amount of people have heard of the idea of hawkfrost being the father of the three, yeah? welp. thats the first idea. idk how it happens, i dont actually ship them, but like consider that tigerstar hears abt the power of three prophecy and decides to take advantage of it and have both of his sons court the sisters in the hopes of continuing his legacy AND having grounds to take the three under his control eventually.
-with squirrelflight it actually happened w brambleclaw naturally bc of the journey (still has its issues and they should still Divorce but like i dont wanna imply tigerstar made bramble that way) but with leafpool he directly tells hawkfrost to get with her. id like to think in an ideal au that hawk wasnt as one dimensional as he is in the books and actually was genuinely friends with leafpool (and mothwing) but like. yeah it was a fucked up tigerstar thing at its core
-hawkfrosts death and the attempted firestar assassination goes as usual and leafpool sees the aftermath but while she suspects brambleclaw, she doesnt know just how involved he was and cant find out.
-she has her kittens but theres the added anxiety of their father being…. well, an attempted murderer as well as being from another clan yknow how it is.
-hawk and tiger immediately start on trying to get into the three’s heads. it kinda works with lionblaze, not as successful as the other two, but lion still steps away. but while they dont learn abt their parentage (idk why, maybe tigerstar thought it was more beneficial the way it was at that point) they do get some info on hawkfrost over time
-now we get into the meat. the fire scene happens, ashfur dies, they start researching their heritage… except, jayfeather learns about brambleclaws df training and shares it. and they learn about the assassination attempt in its entirety and hawkfrost and leafpool’s relationship. hawk also probably reveals the entire bit at one point
-so the gathering happens and hollyleaf reveals their heritage and ALSO exposes brambleclaw. meaning that all 3 living parents are thrown under the bus. she declares that not only should she and her brothers never have existed, but that their entire existence is based on treachery and murder, and theyre a curse on the clans (we love self hatred induced by their horrible rules)
-thunderclan erupts into a civil war basically, squirrelflight and brambleclaws fallout is even worse, the “brambleclaw vs graystripe” deputy debate is revived in full force, and bramble and leaf are both forced to step down and get ostracized as well as squirrelflight.
-hollyleaf’s “death” in the tunnels is interpreted by the clans as a sign from starclan that the three must be erased from the clans, and so firestar has to exile lionblaze and jayfeather as well. their powers are also put out there maybe and people know about them… so they very quickly are seen as supernatural monsters groomed by tigerstar to wipe out the clans by the more superstitious members
-thunderclan is VERY split on this. many of the more devout warriors fear the brothers and refuse to even speak of them, and the kits are being taught to fear them, but most cats who grew up w them (and ofc leafpool and squirrelflight) are angry with their exile and call it unfair and cruel. again, thunderclan is like in a civil war basically
-dovewing and ivypool are born in the middle of this. dovewings power becomes evident immediately, and dovewing, being taught that the brothers powers were a curse, is TERRIFIED. she probably eventually meets w the brothers at one point but is terrified of them and wants nothing to do with the prophecy. she doesnt end up getting a choice, however…
-idk where it goes from there. but like. thatd be why this version of arc four is titled the way it is…. because the three are no longer seen as triumphant and strong, but as a dark omen from the stars.
i do not know enough to flesh this out tbh lol. if anyone would like to add ideas lmk
*gripping my rickety old arm chair so hard it splinters* help. i have a warrior cats au idea.
#extra extra drama btw- all this AND ashfur is dove/ivy’s dad and the brothers know this#echoed voice

you will lift his body from the shore
Blood mars the water as far as RiverClan’s shore, gleaming a sickly crimson in the feeble, dying light. Leafpool isn’t quite sure how much of the effect is sunlight and how much of it is an actual, garish swath of blood, but the meaning is the same. Blood will spill blood, she thinks. She wonders, vaguely, if she’s in a little bit of shock. Her paws are tacky with drying blood, her father slumped behind her with a scar freshly cut around his neck; Brambleclaw and Shrewleap, farther back, support most of Firestar’s weight as they move away from the lakeshore. Squirrelflight has, at some point, come to sit beside her, but she doesn’t know when. Doesn’t know when all this happened. Doesn’t quite know where she is.
Hawkfrost is splayed in front of them, tail dragging almost idly through the lake’s gentle waves; a horrible puncture wound in his neck still leaks blood, only partially tapered by the stake shoved through his throat and straight out the other side.
“Mothwing told me to follow my heart,” Leafpool says aloud. “As if she wasn’t my heart, once.” And this is where it leads, she doesn’t say. She sits stalwart instead, watching Hawkfrost’s empty, vacant eyes. Just days ago, they’d gazed into her own, warm and soft and happy, and now… now he’s dead in the water, mouth open and slack, fur drenched with blood and strewn with detritus.
Squirrelflight is silent for a long, long moment. “I know,” she says eventually. “I’m sorry.”
“Are you?” Leafpool asks sharply. “You warned me about him. Me and Brambleclaw. You warned us, and we didn’t listen.”
“And now he’s dead,” Squirrelflight finishes. “It doesn’t matter anymore.”
“I loved him!” Leafpool hisses. “Of course it matters.”
Squirrelflight looks taken aback. “I know it matters,” she says seriously. “You loved him and you matter, so it matters and he mattered. But he’s dead. It doesn’t mean anything that you didn’t believe me. Not anymore.”
Leafpool’s head dips toward the gritty shore, ears flattening. “Oh,” she murmurs, ashamed of herself. “I’m sorry.”
Squirrelflight nudges her with one bright ginger shoulder. It’s not a playful motion, as it had been all the times she’d done it before; no, now it’s an assurance, a reason for being. Then, as if by unspoken agreement, Squirrelflight stands up. Ever so gently, infinitely careful in the way her sister never is, she drags Hawkfrost’s body from the waves, laying it out on the shore. She tucks his paws by his chin, obscuring the terrible wound, then closes his once-bright icy blue eyes forever with a soft, careful paw. Then, softly, hesitantly, she speaks. “Did he love you?”
Leafpool knows what she’s asking. Had grief blinded them after Mothwing had fallen, after she had told them to live through lips stained with blood? Had they fallen in together out of duty to a dead cat, out of the desire to find something, anything good? Was Hawkfrost’s goal to wrap her around his paw, to gain an advantage with ThunderClan so he could one day attack it? Did he love Leafpool, really, or did he just wish to use her? To leave her as soon as he had what he wanted, to destroy her from the inside out in pursuit of his father’s terrible goals?
For a moment, Leafpool feels a flicker of doubt, sparking unhappily in her chest and winding bitterly around her heart. But then she remembers him as he was in life — yes, brooding; yes, ambitious; yes, headstrong, but sweet and caring and kind when he didn’t have to be, a cat who would save a stranger from another Clan without thought, without ulterior motive; who had looked into her eyes and promised her every bit of him, so long as this was real. And it had been. It had been the realest thing Leafpool had ever done, running away to distant shores. To the sun-drown-place they had been once before, where they could live far away from the shadows cast so heavily down upon them, away from Mothwing’s spectre and their love for her, so different and yet the same. “No,” she says at last. “He was the one who wanted to leave. He… wanted, so badly, to leave his heritage in the past. To… move on and away, to where Tigerstar couldn’t reach him.”
Squirrelflight stares solemnly down at the body. “What happened?”
“We came back,” Leafpool says simply. “Hawkfrost—oh, Hawkfrost—he tried so hard. He would’ve tried so hard, Squirrelflight. I don’t know why he did what he did today. I can’t…” she trails off, her mind a whirlwind of emotion and confusion and the knowledge that Hawkfrost is dead dead dead, body cooling rapidly even in the warm night. “...I can’t imagine why he’d do this.”
Silently, Squirrelflight tucks Hawkfrost’s tail up and away from the creeping water. Leafpool is absurdly grateful for her: she can’t watch his blood stain the waves, but she can’t touch him, either. Dead, dead, dead. Both of the cats she’d loved, lost. Was this her punishment for loving? Had StarClan taken them away because Leafpool had strayed from their sacred plan, after all they’d done to push her to follow her own path? After choosing her as a prophecy cat, after putting salt on her tongue and wanderlust in her heart? After putting spun gold and ice blue in her way, after sealing eight cats together as forever-friends, only to take one away? Two, she thinks heavily. After taking two away.

If Feathertail and Stormfur had chosen to remain in Thunderclan instead of returning with Misty to Riverclan, who do you think Bluestar would have picked for the Prophecy in TNP? Who do you think would have been Riverclan's pick?
It seems that StarClan was intentionally picking cats who were half-clan, for a reason that doesn't seem consistent imo.
Half-Clan cats are more likely to care about all the clans instead of just one?
...they're also more likely to be trusted, somehow? Because they're all... respected and worthy? uh
The Half-Clan cats need chances to prove themselves as truly representative of their clans
Erins were like, "How do we justify StarClan picking the kids who were too young to be main characters in TPB" and kinda worked backwards.
BUT ANYWAY, I don't think it's necessarily a terrible notion to pick cats who were half clan, out of a stern passion. "You will trust the cats WE pick or you will die by your own xenophobia, StarClan has fucking SPOKEN."
Reedwhisker
I think the most obvious pick would be Reedpaw, as Bluestar's grandson. Personally I'm really fond of the idea that he wasn't completely overlooked by TigerClan's persecution, but squeaked by for being 75% RiverClan and having the a TigerClan loyalist Blackclaw for a father... but he was always on thin ice and it gave him extreme anxiety growing up, delaying his assessment for a long time.
(and, even, making some RiverClan cats start to believe that maybe Tigerstar had a point about halfclan blood. A vicious cycle where they hyperfocus on his weaknesses and ignore his strengths.)
I think it would have been better for the dynamic, too. I feel like Feather and Storm weren't well characterized, but an extremely nervous and cautious Reedpaw? That could have been neat, next to Competent Leader, Incompetent Leader, Hissing Ball Of Rage, and Squirrelpaw.
Mothwing
They really could have used a medic, and as an outsider and the daughter of Tigerclaw, I think she could have made an excellent pick for StarClan's message.
And development-wise? Excellent. Mothwing is insecure to the point of fucking up when Hawkfrost is around to pressure her. Having her go on this journey and prove that she's actually super skilled as a medic, even without StarClan? That would have been awesome.
Not to mention how Bramble and Tawny would feel about their surprise sister who didn't grow up with the pressure of being Tigerkin at all!
And in terms of personality, no one could have improved the dynamic more. She's unable to stand up for herself because of Hawkfrost's abuse, finding herself thrown to a pack of assertive bastards. They could ALL learn a lesson from humbling themselves to ask Mothwing what she's thinking, with her constantly having a good ideas when they make sure to include her.
How would she GET the StarClan message though...? Would be fun if Leafpool communicated it to her, and Mudfur confirmed it after they left.
Hawkfrost
I'm super fond of "Hawkfrost goes on the journey" type AUs, though I don't know if I can say I prefer it. I think he would have an important place in the Forest, if the narrative could commit to this being a comment on Leopardstar, and the remnants of Tigerstar's ideology.
But, either as Moth's tag-a-long, or as a chosen hero, I think it would have set up Brambleclaw's arc a lot better. We could have seen Squilf actually not trusting him. We could get Hawkfrost's good traits-- making for a TRULY tragic death at the lake.
I really would have liked something to make us care more about Hawkfrost, make us not want to believe that he's actually pure evil and just interpreting the code in a way that fits him.
#Warrior cats analysis#Hawkfrost#Mothwing#Reedwhisker#TNP#RiverClan#Of course all of this would be consistent on the erins being able to keep a personality straight#and they tend to have difficulty with that unless Bramblestar is being consistently bad

Do you guys know what month it is? :) That’s right, It’s June meaning Pride Month! I want to wish everyone a very happy pride. Always remember no matter the month, you are ALWAYS valid whether you identify as a different gender or a different sexuality, pride gives the community the opportunity to be unapologetically themselves! And with that being said, I give to you a piece that was created in celebration of pride month. It’s probably the most popular lesbian ship in the fandom, Mothpool! Better known as Leafpool X Mothwing. For those who do not know these characters or cant remember them, I will give a brief explanation. Leafpool was Thunderclan’s medicine cat for many moons. She was the first female and medicine cat point of view in the books and had her POV in the New Prophecy. Her parents are Firestar & Sandstorm and her sister is Squirrelflight, making Alderheart & Sparkpelt her niece and nephew. Her mate was Crowfeather and her kits were Hollyleaf, Jayfeather & Lionblaze. That makes Hollytuft, Sorrelstripe, Fernsong, Flywhisker, Snaptooth & Spotfur her grandchildren. Leafpool passes away in Squirrelflight’s Hope by a rock slide and chooses to remain in Starclan. On the contrary, Mothwing is Riverclan’s current medicine cat. Her parents were Sasha & Tigerstar, making Hawkfrost her brother. She is the half-sister of Bramblestar & Tawnypelt. Her apprentice was Willowshine and after her death, she took on Frostpaw. Leafpool & Mothwing were close friends throughout their lives. They had plenty of interactions in the old forest and Leafpool even called Mothwing beautiful many times in the text. These two have a unique kind of bond not often seen in Warriors. Usually main characters aren't given too many friends or relationships with cats outside their inner circle. However that is a dicussion for another time. What I REALLY wanted to focus on is LGBT relationships in the books or lack there of in this case. Out of the thousands of cats, not one has been confirmed LGBT by the authors, why is that? Well the answer lies with the publishing company, Harper Collins and their sales. The Erins themselves seem pretty open to LGBT (minus that one who got kicked off for transphobia) but Harper Collins still refusing to make any characters gay, lesbian, trans, bi, pan, ace, non-binary, etc etc. My main theory (which is shared in the fandom) is that if Collins were to make such pairings canon then the books might be banned in certain countries or states causing sales to go down. If I remember right, a YouTuber called Quiet Rage talked at length on this subject in her video, found here. But with all that said, I want to know YOUR thoughts. Do you like Mothpool or hate it? Why do you think there is no canon LGBT warrior cats? Leave all your thoughts, opinions and feedback in the comments below. Likewise, please consider leaving a like on the original post. Hawkfrost Is The Father Of The Three, And Ferncloud Raises Them With Dustpelt AU
So
I don't ship these two, nor can I picture these two in any sort of healthy relationship because of just how bad Hawkfrost is
that being said
tw; manipulation, gr**ming and abuse
I'm also going to be combining it with this AU request cause they ended up feeling like they fit together
During one of her visits to talk to Mothwing, Leafpaw comes face to face with Hawkfrost. She's very cautious about the tom, knowing his own sister doesn't trust him, but he comes off as charming and charismatic
She asks him politely not to tell on her being here and he responds with being rather flirty, assuring he'd never let such a cute she-cat get in trouble, flustering her and causing her to run off
Leafpaw in confused as she personally hasn't had any cat flirt with her, as everyone knows they're not supposed to with her being a medicine cat apprentice
She ends up getting more and more curious about this tom while her sister is off on her adventure with the chosen cats and takes to trying to casually watch him whenever she can, namely while gathering herbs near the border or soaking moss
He's quick to notice
One of the times while she's alone, he confronts her about watching her, saying if she wanted to see more of him, she could just ask She tries to object, shaking away these weirdly uncomfortable feelings, but he gives her a very affectionate lick before leaving, causing her even more confusion
Hawkfrost works hard to earn her positive favor, leaving little gifts such as herbs, prey, and other small things where he usually sees her. Leafpaw, unsure of what else to do, ends up accepting these gifts.
He also starts giving her these gifts in person, causing her to struggle with what she knew She trusts Mothwing, who says Hawkfrost has done bad things But Hawkfrost is showing he's not a bad cat after all
After some time, Hawkfrost starts making little comments, namely against the company Leafpaw usually kept when she wasn't alone "Sorreltail just tries to act like she's better than you by taking control of situations, huh?" "Cinderpelt really doesn't trust you to gather herbs alone?" "Brightheart seems to be more worried about her daughter than she does helping medicine cats, doesn't she?"
Over time Leafpaw is filled with more confusion and doubt and starts spending less and less time near camp Hawkfrost still visits her often and, after the chosen have come back, he starts getting more physically affectionate towards her, sharing tongues with her and having her cuddle with him
Leafpaw still has doubts but she's conflicted about them
On the journey to the lake, after this had been going on for some time, Leafpaw opens up to Squirrelpaw about what's been going on and Squirrelpaw immediately doesn't like or trust Hawkfrost, especially when Leafpaw expresses some doubts about him but is quick to excuse them
She brings Squirrelpaw's feelings up to Hawkfrost and he's quick to try to turn her against her sister, making her rather uncomfortable as she's sure her sister is the only cat she truly trusts
They get to the lake territories and Hawkfrost tries to convince Leafpaw to join RiverClan, but she declines, stating her family is in ThunderClan and that she doesn't want to leave them
Despite his pressuring and her unsure feelings, she does still visit him as often as she can, sneaking around territories because she doesn't have many cats to talk to since she dropped almost all her friendships for him
Leafpool and Squirrelflight have their full names when the in-fighting in WindClan gets worse
When the WindClan coup happens and Mudclaw states Hawkfrost as one who helped him and Leafpool quickly turns to Mothwing, whom she had been hanging out with less and less, and asks her if this is true
Mothwing, though rightfully hurt by Leafpool leaving her alone, confirms the ThunderClan she-cat's fears and Leafpool goes to confront Hawkfrost
Hawkfrost tries denying at first and even tries to brush it off and be casual as he tries to show her more physical affection, but she hisses at him and demands the truth
There's a long bit where he dodges the truth, before he gives up trying to be nice and tells her, bluntly, that Tigerstar had told him to 'get her out of the picture' by any means And he was 'trying to be nice' and not kill her, since Mothwing liked her, and then blames her for 'what happens next' and attacks Leafpool
Thankfully Squirrelflight caught wind, thanks to Mothwing, and comes to her sister's rescue, attacking the tom and running off with a wounded Leafpool by her side
Leafpool is in shock and sick to her stomach with what Hawkfrost said and did She tells her sister everything, including that she was still seeing him after Squirrelflight told her to stop and how he wanted her to no longer talk to Squilf and join RiverClan.
When the two bring this to Brambleclaw, the tom is skeptical and doesn't trust what they're saying, and when he brings this up to Hawkfrost, he's less clear about how to feel.
Hawkfrost's death goes down the same as canon.
Leafpool finds out she's pregnant and is horrified, as she knows that the only option of the father is her abuser
Squirrelflight, despite being single [as Brambleclaw's dismissal of her sister's abuse and Ashfur's babying of her pushed her away from both toms], insists on helping her as she's worried for Leafpool
There is a lot of debate and the two end up accidentally being overheard by Ferncloud. She doesn't ask questions, seeing the distressed look on Leafpool's face and simply states that she'll adopt the kits as if they were her own. She even manages to convince her mate, Dustpelt, to agree, though he thinks he's adopting Squirrelflight's kits and not the halfClan kits of a medicine cat as Ferncloud is aware it would've been harder to talk him into it otherwise
Three kits are born in secret - a brown and white tabby tom, a tortoiseshell tabby she-cat, and a mostly white tom with brown patches. Ferncloud names the first on Finchkit, Squirrelflight names the second one Hollykit, and Leafpool names the last one Lionkit hoping the tom will be strong enough to outlive his unfortunate circumstances. In this AU Icekit and Foxkit are born a couple moon earlier than they were in canon and are a couple days younger than the Three.
They bring the kits home and Dustpelt immediately dotes over the five of them, not even caring which ones might be Squirrelflight's and which ones might be his. He doesn't even tell any of the kits otherwise. To him they are his five wonderful kits.
Ferncloud and Dustpelt are wonderful parents to the kits, Dustpelt teaching them the importance of tradition while Ferncloud teaches them to care about others
TPoT goes through canon somewhat normally, aside from Finchpaw being confused on why he was able to see a prophecy about Firestar's kin when he isn't related at all to Firestar. However, once Lionpaw is training in the Dark Forest, he is confused when Hawkfrost refers to Lion, Finch, and Holly as his kits
Hawkfrost reveals the secret, wanting Lionpaw to know that the Clan isn't being entirely truthful.
Lionpaw isn't sure how to feel about this
He confronts Ferncloud and Dustpelt. Dustpelt is shocked to hear Leafpool's name, but there's only a minor argument about lying with a promise to be truthful in the future, as Ferncloud admits it's not her story to tell and he understands.
Lionpaw, Finchpaw, and Hollypaw are taken with Dustpelt to talk to Leafpool, where she opens up about the abuse she faced at Hawkfrost's paws and how he used her. Dustpelt, who came in angry, is more understanding at the end as he remembers how Tigerstar, Hawkfrost's father, hurt his brother, Ravenpaw to the point of running away
The apprentices are confused, asking if she wanted them, and she assured it had nothing to do with them and more to do with the tom that sired them
When Lionpaw expresses anger towards Leafpool, Dustpelt scolds him, telling the tom that the hardest thing for a queen to do is give up kits and telling him that it was brave for Leafpool
Lionpaw confronts Hawkfrost and is lied to and the apprentice storms off, not wanting to hear it once the Dark Forest warrior starts bad-talking Ferncloud and Dustpelt
Hollypaw struggles with the news, as she was raised that medicine cats should never have kits, but her father is being forgiving of this on exception She ends up talking with Ferncloud about it and gaining an understanding that things happen out of anther cat's control and they can't help it
Finchpaw and Leafpool come to an agreement that he doesn't have to think of her as his mother and that Ferncloud was the one who raised and cared for him better than she could He still knows, but he accepts that he was adopted and is alright with that, as it gave him a family he needed
This is as far as I got mentally with this, but there's no big secret, though Ashfur being a problem can probably still be a plot or something
idk
a lot of these plots revolve around TPoT, so there's only so much new I can add dsakhf

following that up with my new prophecy rewrite!!!!!!!!!! oh boy i would change a lot about this one
okay for starters: crowpaw and squirrelpaw are apprentices, brambleflower, tawnypelt, stormfur, and feathertail are all warriors, but squirrelpaw should be a warrior by now (she’s not because she keeps getting in trouble so they keep holding back her warrior ceremony i’m trying to fix any age gaps) and crowpaw should have been a warrior but he went on the quest
leafpaw is ferncloud’s apprentice and squirrelpaw is dustpelt’s
squirrelpaw is the most annoying little shit to ever walk to the forest ofc
the prophecy involves one chosen cat but someone else tags along from each clan (so stormfur, squirrelpaw, trans icon rowanclaw, and nightcloud/onewhisker all come on the quest)
ships that do happen: stormbramble, tawnyrowan, squirrelnight, maybe feathertawny?
ships that do NOT happen: bramblesquilf, feathercrow, stormbrook, crownight
bramblesquirrel would have a huge sibling dynamic because that’s literally what they should have had.
crowpaw’s “love” for feathertail would probably just have been best friends/platonic/MAYBE a little crush but not anything too big
squirrel and night would have been “besties” (if you know you know)
i think crowfeather would probably have helped nightcloud have children but they would have never gotten together so at most he would have been an uncle for breezepelt
whitewing gets apprenticed to longtail who is the deputy still of course
birchfall still gets ashfur
hawkfrost would have a much cooler arc because he had so much potential!!!!!!!!!!!!!
another weird take: hawkfrost wasn’t the son of tigerstar but mothwing was. they both grew up with sasha (maybe hawkfrost was adopted or just was close with them bc he never knew his parents). sasha brings them both to the forest ofc and moth and hawk develop a kind of sibling relationship. hawkfrost’s need for a father figure is so great that he agrees to join tigerstar in the dark forest and that would have made his character 100000x cooler
mothwing, tawnypelt, crowfeather, feathertail, stormfur, rowanclaw, and nightcloud all get povs.
feathertail still dies and crowfeather gets named after her, but out of platonic love not romantic love
cinderpelt still dies in the badger attack but sootfur and rainwhisker don’t. she wouldn’t get reincarnated in cinderheart and firestar would be shown greiving more
firestar becomes depressed after having to leave the forest because he already lost graystripe and has to leave his other good friend, ravenpaw, and his sister, princess, as well as speckletail and frostfur. he spirals more after cinderpelt’s death because of how close they were
deadfoot doesn’t die and becomes deadstar. mudclaw thinks he should be leader and leads a rebellion which onewhisker quickly ends. onewhisker remains the wholesome happy boy we knew and loved
leafpool and crowfeather happens but it’s not love it’s like a “one night stand” i guess.
stormfur joins thunderclan after feathertail’s death. the three are adopted by him and squirrelflight or maybe brambleflower? i haven’t figured out the logistics of that yet.
after longtail retires as deputy (because he’s getting old) firestar appoints brightheart as deputy.
ashfur and squirrelflight does not happen in this au ashfur has a crush on brambleflower instead and he grows bitter because brambleflower rejects him (forgive me im trying to play out the story without the sweet home alabama)
i can’t think of much else i would change?????? idk i will add on as i go
#firestar#brambleclaw#squirrelflight#crowfeather#nightcloud#leafpool#tawnypelt#stormfur#feathertail#warriors#warrior cats#the new prophecy#brambleflower#fireheart#hawkfrost#graystripe#ravenpaw#cinderpelt#yeah that's another follow up

@mallowstep
woulda sent this as an ask but uh. moth ghost au wont leave my head and this got. long. hope ya dont mind i think about hawkfrost and mothwing A Lot.
under a cut bc. again. long.
bc see the thing is. if i were to do a moth ghost au. the kids are all young when she dies (at least, i think? idk their timeline, i’m assuming they’re like, 3-4 months, so, youngish), so it’s like...ghost sister? ghost sister. sasha cant see her because it’s no fun if she can, so we get hawk and tadpole, both who feel like they’ve killed their sister, both who are kids and cant deal with that grief. but like...moth is right there! she’s right there! she’s still their sister even if shes a ghost and as they get bigger and lose their kit-fluff she stays the same. she’s their sister.
but sasha....sasha just lost one of her kittens, nearly lost the other two, and now the remaining ones are talking to moth as though she’s still there? cats dont leave ghosts behind--cats aren’t trapped like that. humans are, sasha was a housecat and she’s seen how humans pace around their houses, but cats are sneaky lil guys. cats arent trapped to the earth like people are. cats die and leap into the sky and become the world.
moth isn’t stuck, moth is the world. so sasha tells her sons that their sister isn’t a ghost with them, but she’s the world around them--the prey and wind and sky.
hawk and tadpole look at each other, at their very-much-there ghost sister, and are like....yeah sure mom.
so we get a hawk and tadpole who refuse to let moth go. it’s hawk who clings to her the most, i think--he acts as though nothing happened, as though nobody drowned. tadpole is...starting to listen to their mom, a bit. he knows moth is there, but...should she be? nobody should be trapped like this. her spirit deserves to move on.
“we should help her,” tadpole says.
“she’s fine,” hawk says, “she’s right here, and she’s fine, and i’m not going to let you kill her again just because you have something against ghosts.”
and tadpole doesn’t ask again. he was the first one out out that basement.
eventually the kits end up in riverclan, and tadpole doesnt really talk about moth to anybody. like, he still acknowledges her, but only when they’re alone or it’s just hawk. hawk, on the other hand, doesn’t care! sure he’s like, 6 moons old, and moth is still stuck at 4, but! who! cares! and so while the clan teaches them their clan ways, teaches them about starclan, tadpole listens and he’s able to find some comfort in the idea. that theres a place his sister can go, can move on to. he’s always liked the stars. moth will, too.
but hawk...
well, the thing is, hawk’s not a clan cat. he’s got a clan name, now, he’s down a mother and he’s a very young kid staring up at these riverclan cats, but he’s nothing if not stubborn, and he’s clung to his sister thus far and he’s not about to give her up.
the clans dont think much of other religions. they tell hawk and tadpole that there’s no such thing as ghosts. dead cats go to starclan, and only clan cats, at that--your sister isn’t there, why would she be? she died a loner. but dont worry, now you’re here, in the clans, and when you die, you’ll be together in starclan.
“it’s stupid,” hawk says, to moth, alone in their den, “who cares about starclan? thats not mine, and its not yours. if you’re going anywhere it’s the wind, not the stars.”
“did you see that one thunderclan med cat apprentice at the gathering?” asks moth. “i thought she was pretty.”
“never change,” hawk says, fondly.
but he starts to think. as he starts to spend more and more time alone, with only moth for company. and moth is moth but she is...a ghost. she’s trapped. she doesn’t grow and change like a living cat does--at this point she doesnt even know why she’s still around. something about...drowning, maybe? it happened so long ago. she’s just happy to have her brother with her.
tadpole worries. hawk pushes him away. tadpole tells him they have to let their sister go. that they have to move on--that he loves moth too, and he misses her every day, but they’re clan cats, now. they have to be the best they can be, so nobody else is ever hurt again.
so i dont hurt anyone again, he doesnt say.
because tadpole doesn’t think moth’s ghost is around, either. he’s stopped seeing her. maybe he never did. maybe he was just a kid who lost his sister, who killed his sister, even if on accident. maybe he never was able to cope with that.
he wont see his sister in starclan. he probably wont see his mother, either. he doenst know what happens to loners. sasha told them, once. the wind and the sky and the leaves. becoming a part of the world, again. energy that can never truly die, just change shape.
but that was so long ago. he’s nearly a warrior, now. who remembers the stories they were told as kids?
anyways.
hawkpaw becomes the medicine cat.
he’s got two sets of beliefs rattling around in his head--starclan, everything the clans are telling him, and half-remembered stories from his mother, that moth remembers best of them all, forever trapped as a 4 moon old kit. and somewhere along the line these have been mashed together, into one big: starclan isnt letting moth in, because she died a loner. starclan wont ever let moth in but they’re going to take me when i die and i wont let them. i wont let them tear us apart.
it’s not easy. riverclan says he’d need a sign to become a medicine cat, but since when have the dead done that? they’re dead. moth is a ghost at his side, and she watches the flowers, and the bees, and remarks about thunderclan medicine cats that hawk can’t help but be begrudgingly fond of, if only for her.
but he can do this. he has to.
hawkpaw fakes a sign. hawkpaw becomes medicine cat.
hawkpaw goes to the moonpool, and the stars tell him the same thing the clans do: there is no place for your sister here. our heavens are for worthy clan cats only.
hawk is still the villain here, just...in a different way. if this were a warriors book he’d be a villain flat-out, a med cat turning his back on starclan, who lied and cheated his way into this role, who never cared about anybody but his dead sister. but this isn’t a warriors book.
tadpole is the hero. hawk looks at the stars and tells them to their faces if you wont let my sister in, then i’ll make you regret it. i’ll show everyone that you’re nothing. that they worship cats that arent even ghosts. cats that are trapped. maybe youre wrong. maybe moth isnt the one youre keeping out. maybe shes the free one.
hawk plays the long game, though. gets his full name. learns medicines, how to heal.
how to harm.
moth watches him from the shadows. tells him kit-stories about rebirth.
the clans dont believe in that. hawk doesnt know what he is. he doesnt either.
theyre all trapped. thats what he believes.
he sets a trap for mudfur. a fox-trap down by the lake. then he, hawkfrost, will be the only link riverclan has to the stars, and he won’t listen to a word they say.
tadpole is the one to find out, to intervene before mudfur dies. to say hawk, you betrayed us all!
you betrayed me first, says hawk. me and moth both.
moth is dead! says tadpole. you can’t let her go!
you follow the words of the dead, says hawk in return, thats all the clans do. all mudfur did. he didnt want me to be his apprentice. he needed the dead to tell him what to do. what kind of life is that? and if you agree with what he did, how is it any different than me and moth? at least i know she’s real. that she’s our sister. the clans would let her die.
and so tadpole kills his brother with a stake through the heart.
he thinks he can see moth for a second. a flash against the blood.
hawk dies. he doesnt die a clan cat.
was it worth it? tadpole asks.
im going to be with moth, hawk says. youre going to go to starclan.
why dont you answer that question?
...
yeah thats my moth ghost au. is this anything? who knows! its certainly not in any way fleshed out, just the barest bones of an idea. i want leafpool to still get her ‘blood will spill blood’ prophecy--maybe she and hawk become friends, somewhere in there. who knows.
ghost moth man. fun to think about.

anyway have some major points from my "Warrior Cats Rewrite" outline. long story short im rewriting the entire series bc i can, feel free to suggest things youd like to see :)
Overall:
-Please note that some of these bullet points dont make sense in the order theyre in bc i forgot to put them in chronological order and didnt have much time to fix it
-Each book has a different protag in a different Clan
-Some names, families, and pelt colours will all be switched around/changed
-Some characters will be aged up or down depending on when it makes sense to me for them to be born
-StarClan is fucking powerless. Instead these fiesty battlecats have a religion similar to greeks, with their main gods are based around the moon. Its considered super lucky for a kit to be born under a full moon, and naming a cat/kit "Moon-" is considered super disrespectful and can get both kit and mother shunned by the Clan or exiled
-WindClan never stopped tunneling
-Oakheart is still alive
-Assume no cats are related unless I state otherwise
-Lostsong, Wildblaze, Ferncloud, Ashfur, Brambleflower, and Tawnystorm are all related (Bramble, Tawny, Ash, Fern have the same father, Wild, Lost, Bramble, Tawny have the same mother)
-Acorn and Squirrel are Dust/Sand's kits, though they 2 are no longer mates
-The medicine cats cant have mates or kits rule is thrown out the window bc its stupid
Name Changes:
-Brambleclaw -> Brambleflower
-Tawnypelt -> Tawnystorm
-Sandstorm -> Sandstrike
-Firestar -> Sparkfern
-Leafpool -> Acornleaf
-Brightheart -> Lostsong
-Yellowfang -> Mirestorm
-Ravenpaw -> Ravensight
-Swiftpaw -> Wildblaze
1st arc (The prophecies begin):
- Protags are Sparkfern (ThunderClan, book 1), Yellowfang (ShadowClan, Book 2), Mistyfoot (RiverClan, book 3), Tallstar (WindClan, book 4), Tigerclaw (Book 5)
-1st book goes more or less the same with only minor changes until you reach the point where Sparkpaw was supposed to run into Mirestorm
-In this rewrite Brokenstar "out of the good of his heart" allows Mirestorm to stay in ShadowClan under 2 conditions. She gives up being a medicine cat and goes back to being a warrior, and she isnt allowed anywhere without a guard. She accepts
-Tigerclaw goes through with the plan to kill Ravenpaw but fails. Ravenpaw, terrified for his life, decides to switch to being a medicine cat
-WindClan hasn't been driven out, but only because Tallstar gave ShadowClan a good half of their territory
-Tigerclaw doesn't try any backhanded traps like the thunderpath one
-That being said, Cinderpaw still gets caught on the Thunderpath bc she wasnt paying attention to where she was going
-She still goes back to warrior training though bc this ThunderClan doesn't discriminate
-All the ShadowClan stuff happens a bit later than it does in canon
-Spottedleaf lives, but she's fucked up really bad (Blind in left eye, intense scarring on face and right side, unable to use back leg without pain, etc etc) and decides to demote herself as a medicine cat and mkve to the elder's den
-Ravenpaw still isn't fully trained, so ThunderClan enlists Barkface's help
-Ravenpaw ends up being named Ravensight sometime around the middle of the 3rd book
-Sparkpaw becomes Sparkfern around halfway through the book bc i dont try to pack what should be a month of buildup into 2 days so theres timeskips when theres nothing happening
-Sandpaw and Dustpaw become Sandstrike and Dustpelt before Sparkfern and Greystripe because they were apprentices for longer
-Tigerclaw kills Sparkfern by the end of book 1
-Tigerclaw tries to kill Bluestar, but she runs out of the den and Tigerclaw gets exiled
-Mirestorm decides to say fuck it and in book 2 pushes Brokenstar into the gorge in RiverClan territory
-After Redtail's death Whitestorm is made deputy
-Since WindClan never needed to be brought back Whiteclaw is alive now too
-Instead of Nightstar, after Brokenstar's death Blackfoot becomes Blackstar
- Whitestorm ends up getting killed so Sandstrike is made deputy
-On that note since Sparkfern is dead Sandstrike was Cinderpelt's mentor
-Both Swiftpaw and Brightpaw live, but both are heavily scarred and are renamed Deadspot and Lostface by Buestar
-Tigerclaw still leads the dogs onto ThunderClan territory, but instead of coming up with the canon plan they all live in fear until RiverClan decides that this is painful to watch and help out
-Deadspot and Lostface end up having a 2nd run in with the dogs and Bluestar looses her last life saving them
-Sandstar renames them Wildblaze and Lostsong
-ThunderClan don't actually hate Bramble and Tawny for being Tiger's kits, but they both feel irrationally guilty about it and that causes just as much of a strain
-Brambleflower is the one who leaves ThunderClan this time, while Tawnystorm stays
-Silverstream and Greystripe never get together. Feathertail and Stormfur are Silver and WhiteClaw's kits
-Also Leopardstar dies earlier and Stonefur becomes Stonestar
-Tigerclaw takes control of BloodClan and renames himself Tigerstar
-When Tigerstar tries to take over ShadowClan Blackstar tells him no
-Tigerstar tries approaching Stonestar for an alliance and the whole "shun half clan cats" thing, not knowing that Stonestar is a half clan cat (Bluestar still told both Mistyfoot and Stonefur the truth) and Stonefur tells him to get fucked
-tigerstar decides to merge with WindClan instead
-The whole fourtrees stand off still happens, but Brambleflower kills Tigerstar (who due to being a faux leader and not going to the moonstone only has one life)
2nd arc (The New Prophecy):
-Protags are Brambleflower (ShadowClan, book 1), Feathertail (RiverClan, book 2), Crowpaw (WindClan, book 3), Tawnystorm (ThunderClan, book 4), Nightcloud (WindClan, book 5)
-The cats that go on the quest are Tawnystorm, Brambleflower, Feathertail, Crowpaw, Squirrelflight, and Nightpaw (Nightcloud)
-Squirrel (who was born earlier than in canon and is therefor now already a warrior) follows Tawny on the quest
-Squirrel has a puppy crush on Tawny and she makes this fact painfully clear
-Nightpaw follows Feather around like a lost dog
-Crowpaw ends up dying instead of Feathertail bc Nightpaw was in danger
-Nightpaw becomes Nightcloud after the journey and develops a crush on Acornleaf
-She's torn between the two until she realizes Acorn doesnt feel the same about her (Acornleaf is in love with Mothwing in this rewrite bc i said so)
-Nightcloud is briefly devastated but then realizes that this makes things so much easier for her and starts dating Feathertail
-Tawny and Squirrel get together after 4 1/2 whole books of obvious pining
-Daisy is still there, but she only has one kit as the others have died (The living kit is Berrynose, now renamed Hay)
-Daisy gets in a relationship with Lostsong and Cloudtail bc thats my OT3 and bc i said so
-After loosing Hazel and Mouse she finds that she can't bring herself to get too attached to Hay so Tawny and Squirrel adopt him and Daisy just becomes that cool aunt™
-Insert a good 7 pages of Bramble freaking out that he's an uncle now
-Hawkfrost is still evil and traps Sandstar in a fox trap, but Mothwing kills him this time.
-Mothwing ends up badly injured from her fight with Hawkfrost and Acornleaf takes care of her
-Stormfur ends up dying
-Feathertail leaves RiverClan to be with Nightcloud
-Daisy/Lostsong/Cloudtail end up having Whitekit (wing), Rosekit (petal), and Honeykit (flower)
-Acornleaf and Mothwing become mates at one point and love each other very very much
-Mothwing is trans (comfort hc ive had aince forever, not purely for the sake of her and Acorn having bio kits i promise) and her and Acorn end up having Swanblaze (Hollyleaf) and Goldenfern (Lionblaze)
-since both Moth and Acorn are their Clan's only medicine cat neither can join the other's clan so Moth takes Swan and Acorn takes Golden
-a good 7 moon timeskip between arc 2 book 5 and arc 3 book 1
3rd arc (Power of Three):
-Protags are Mothwing (RiverClan, book 1), Crowstorm (WindClan, book 2), Goldenfern (ThunderClan, book 3), Littlecloud (ShadowClan, book 4), Swanblaze (RiverClan, book 5)
-[Everything that follows happens between TPB and the beginning of PO3]
-Since there's no "medicine cats cant have kits or mates" rule its common knowledge that Swan and Golden are Moth and Acorn's kits
-On RiverClan's side Graymist (who becomes a queen earlier here for the sake of convenience) nursed Swan alongside Sneeze and Mallow. Besides the feeding Swan spent most of her time hanging around and playing with Motha
-On ThunderClan's side, since Rosepetal is the medicine cat apprentice, Leafpool nurses and raises Golden. The entire Clan treats him like their kit though, especially his aunts Tawnystorm and Squirrelflight
-[Everything that happens this point happens in the actual arc]
-The 3 are Swanblaze, Goldenfern, and Crowstorm (Night and Feather's adopted son. He counts as part of the 3 bc Redtail (Sand's father) was half WindClan in this rewrite and his WindClan father also had Night and Crow's mother
-While both Swan and Golden knew they had a sibling in another Clan, they didnt officially meet until their 2nd gathering, when Moth and Acorn intoduced them to eachother
-Swanpaw met Crowpaw when Crow was chasing a rabbit and couldn't stop himself from falling into the river.
-Mothwing, who had taken Swanpaw on an outing to help her collect herbs, ended up saving him and bringing him back to camp while they waited for WindClan to come back and get him
-While Crow is intended to be Jayfeather's replacement here, he isn't blind. He is, however, deaf. He's still training to be a warrior though bc fuck canon
-Night, Feather, and Crow developed a sort of cat sign language they spread to WindClan to help make it easier for Crow
-It eventually ended up spreading to Bramble and Moth, who spread it to their Clans
-Different powers and shit
-Swan has a sort of foresight. She can tell whats going to happen a few moments before it happens. While she brushes it off as good instincts, when she develops it more later in the series her foresight stretches up to a moon in advance
-Golden still has super strength. He aint invincible tho cuz that was a horeible plot point
-Crow can see and speak to ghosts in the living world. Not just StarClan or dead cats, but any dead animal. If he wants to speak to a dead fox he 100% can
-The 3 still know about the prophecy due to Swan training as a med cat and accidently getting it (She eventually ends up dropping it and Willowshine becomes the med app instead)
-Sol comes in and then the eclipse happens
-Golden and Crow are 100% ready to trust this strange cat they met 2 days ago but Swan is like yo dudes wtf
-That whole plot point happens, Sol tries to go to ShadowClan, but Blackstar tells him to fuck off so he does
-Swanpaw ends up accidently killing him (tried to threaten him into leaving the Clans alone using the dunk and let breathe method, ended up drowning him). The guilt she feels from it is what causes her to drop being a medicine cat apprentice and become a warrior.
-Ashfur still had a crush on Squirrel and is extremely jealous of Tawny. He tries the whole fire scene thing with Haynose, but before he's even halfway done with his monologue he stops for 3 seconds, looks around him, and realizes just what the fuck he's trying to do
-He helps Squirrel and Hay out of the fire, apologizes profusely, and turns himself in to Sandstar, accepting whatever punishment she gives him
-Bramble 100% visits both Hay and Swan at least once a week. Sand and Stone have realized by now that stopping him wont work so they just allow it
-There's no huge gathering scene this time because there isn't a big secret to tell
-The arc does end, however, with Swan finding Stonestar's lifeless body laying in his den
4th arc (Omen of the Stars):
-[NOTE: This section is unfinished due to lack of ideas]
-The whole Stonestar's dead body thing is going to be addressed, but i just dont have any ideas for that so its not addressed for now
- Dove and Ivy are both spoiled rotten by their aunts and grandparents
-As such Dove gains a sorta "entitled" attitude. Like not full tantrum entitled, but getting moody/snappy when she doesnt get what she wants
-Ivy is the same way, just a bit less snapping and a bit more silent treatment
-Brambleflower!!!! Has kits!!! With Rowanclaw!!!
-Yes, I am a big fan of the trans Rowanclaw hc
-I am giving Bramble Tawny's canon mate
-why?
-bc its what he deserves
-Anyway, Their kits are Brindlekit/heart (Tigerheart), Dawnkit/shade (Dawnpelt), and Russetkit/tail (Flametail), who I am aging down bc in canon these 3 already have their full names
-Tawny and Squirrel 100% babysit from time to time
-Dark forest trainees stay the same, but this time add in Dovewing, Bumblestripe and Briarlight
-Haven't read, unable to make an outline
-Briarlight didnt make it in time to push Longtail out of the way, so Briarlight isnt paralyzed and Longtail is dead
-Bumblestripe still has a crush on Dovewing, but is way more lowkey and less "creepy" about it
-Swanblaze becomes mates with Minnowtail
-Acornleaf dies in the Last Hope
-So do Brambleflower, Goldenfern, Honeyfur, Graymist, Spiderleg, Applefur, Olivenose, Redwillow, Ferretclaw, Tallpoppy, Whitetail, Heathertail, Reedwhisker, Robinwing, Mosspelt, Pouncetail, and Dovewing
5th arc (A Vision of Shadows):
-[NOTE: This section is empty due to me not having finished this arc.]
6th arc (The Broken Code):
-[NOTE: This section is empty due to me not having read this arc]
#submission#off topic#yes i am rewriting the whole series#why? you might be asking#and bc it gives me an excuse to reread every book in the series a good 100 times :)#< tags added by submitter

Warriors Rewrite Pt 8: The New Prophecy
Quick note: this is going to be a short summary of all 6 books
The first book takes place seven moons after the epilogue of Firestar's Quest. Tawnypelt has just been named a warrior, her ceremony is late due to Firestar being away for a while. Firestar's kits-Squirrelpaw, Leafpaw, and Emberpaw-have been apprentices for a full moon. Squirrelpaw has Siverstream as a mentor, Emberpaw has Cinderpath, and Leafpaw is apprenticed under Ravensong
The Fire triplets have that special psychic connection that Leafpaw and Squirrelpaw did in the first books of tnp. This does not fade over time
Squirrelpaw is the one who receives the Sun-Drown-Place prophecy from Starclan, and is followed by Tawnypelt who wants to keep her out of trouble. They meet up at Fourtrees with the other prophecy cats who are: Primrosetail of Riverclan (who's been followed by her brother Reedwhisker. These two are Mistyfoot's kits), Crowpaw of Windclan, and Rowanclaw of Shaowclan
Crowpaw is lithe dark gray with blue eyes, Rowanclaw is broad shouldered and with golden eyes, Reedwhisker is black with amber eyes, and Primrosetail is blue-gray -the same color as Bluestar-with blue eyes
On the journey, Reedwhisker acts as the leader. He's a natural thanks to his mother being deputy and his uncle and grandmother being Riverclan and Thunderclan's leaders respectively. Leading runs in his blood. Tawnypelt makes a good second in command and keeps the apprentices in check. She gets along well with both Squirrelpaw and Crowpaw, acting as a referee at times. Though Squirrelpaw and Crowpaw annoy each other a lot they also end up getting pretty close by the end of their trip. Primrosetail is the quiet motherly cat of the group, making sure nobody gets left behind and that everyone is fed and warm. Rowanclaw mainly keeps to himself; he's more focused on the task at hand than anything else. Though he does find himself enjoying the new landscape and learning about the Tribe
The Journey cats still meet with Midnight, and still meet the Tribe to help fight Sharptooth. The Tribe believes at first that it is Crowpaw who's prophesied to save them. But really it's Reedwhisker; in this rewrite he takes Feathertail's place. The Tirbe prophecy says something about a dark colored cat, rather than a silver cat in this case. When Reedwhisker dies, Tawnypelt takes up the leadership position in the group with Rowanclaw's help
While they're gone, disaster strikes the clans. Twolegs are tearing apart the forest like in canon. Both Leafpaw and Emberpaw are captured. Leafpaw eventually manages to escape but Emberpaw gets stuck while trying to free other clan cats. He's made a kittypet and adopted by a twoleg family who calls him Ginger.
With all that set up, we start off with three POV's: Squirrelpaw with her warrior's training and the journey, Leafpaw with her medicine cat training, and Emberpaw with a view into the life of a kittypet
When the journey cats get home they urge the clans to leave the forest for their safety. Before they go, however, Leafpaw insists they find Emberpaw. So she and the journey cats work together to search Twolegplace and eventually break him free. The Fire triplets' connection is what leads them to find Emberpaw's location. Primrosetail is the one who comes up with the plan to bust the young tom out
On the journey to the lake, Emberpaw bonds with Primrosetail. He's grateful to her for figuring out a way to free him. Meanwhile, Leafpaw bonds with Rowanclaw. She's intrigued by him; currently he's Shadowclan's deputy, but despite this he'd gone off on the trip to Sun-Drown-Place. He claims it's because it was for the best for Shadowclan, and clearly it's saved them now.
At the lake, the clans settle in. Squirrelpaw and Emberpaw are the first cats to be made warriors in their new home: they're named Squirrelflight and Emberpath. Squirrel is named for her speedy trip to Sun-Drown-Place to discover their new home, and Ember is named for the path he had to take to get here (from being captured, to getting free from the twolegs, and to finally joining his clanmates on the journey). Leafpaw discovers the moonpool and is named Leafpool
The POV switches between the Journey cats throughout the books.
Reedwhisker has a POV for the whole of the second book leading up to his death. Then for the last bit of the book it switches back to Squirrelpaw's POV
Primrosetail's POV shows her struggles with the loss of her brother Reedwhisker, and the tole it takes upon their mother Mistyfoot and uncle Stonestar. It also depicts her being drawn to Emberpath, the cat she'd help to rescue and walked with on the journey to the lake
With Crowfeather we witness Windclan's civil war first hand. They're fighting over who should be leader: Ashfoot, the wise deputy, or Mudclaw, the stronger warrior whom Tallstar seems to favor. We sees Crowfeather's reactions to his clanmates turning on his mother. Crowfeather starts confiding in his fellow journey-mates, Squirrelflight and Tawnypelt, for support at this time. Eventually though, it's settled that Ashfoot will be leader, and eventually she earns her nine lives. After all of this is done, though, Crowfeather continues to meet with Squirrelflight and Tawnypelt
In Rowanclaw's chapters we see his struggles with being deputy, and his growing affection for Leafpool. Eventually the two run away together, only to return to the clans upon the urgance of Midnight. Thunderclan gets attacked by badgers like in canon, while Silverstream has her new litter of kits (who are Briarkit, Bumblekit, and Blossomkit. Millie does not exiat in my rewrite). Ravensong is killed trying to keep the birthing queen safe. Rowanclaw asks Leafpool in secret to move to Shadowclan when the fight is over, but with her mentor dead and no other medicine cats in Thunderclan she has to decline. Luckily, Shadowclan and Thunderclan have no idea about their affair, thinking both cats had simply run off from the pressure of their jobs. The clans remain unaware that they were together.
Finally Tawnypelt's POV shows her meeting with her father in the Dark Forest. At first, she's still mad at him for having her brother killed. But Mothwing, Sasha's daughter and Tawnypelt's half sister, convinces her to train with them. Growing up, Mothwing had always been sensible and trustworthy. She assures Tawnypelt that Tigerstar is making amends by mentoring her; he just wants his kits to be strong respectable warriors of Thunderclan. Even if it may not be true though, Mothwing believes it. So Tawnypelt agrees to learn a few things from the former Shadowclan leader, if only to hone her skills and to protect her sister. Eventually though, Bramblepaw comes from Starclan to stop his littermate from training with their father before it's too late. He reminds her of Tigerstar's evil, and helps her to see just how nefarious the teachings she's been receiving are. After this, she stops going to the Dark Forest. But later on it turns out Tigerstar and Mothwing have been conspiring.
This comes to a head when Firestar gets caught in a fox trap by the lake thanks to Mothwing luring him there. She tells Tawnypelt that with Firestar dead, Sandstorm will be leader, and she's bound to pick one of them as her deputy. Then it's all a matter of killing the new leader so both sisters can ascend to higher power together. Tawnypelt truly realizes now how bad being around Tigerstar has messed both of them up. The sisters fight, resulting in Mothwing being stabbed by the stake of the fox trap, just like her counterpart Hawkfrost in canon
Speaking of Hawkfrost, Tawnypelt has troubles with him as well during her book. Squirrelflight has been hanging around him a lot, but he's kind of a jerk. And not to mention Tawnypelt has feeling for the small ginger molly too. So the whole love triangle thing plays out with the three of them instead
At some point in the arc (Im thinking the second half, or maybe in the last book) the cats who'd gone on the journey come up with the idea for the clans to have mediators. This role is to help keep peace, and to remind everyone of how they'd gotten along during the trip to the lake. Each cat who'd been sent the Sun-Drown-Place prophecy is elected for this new role, since they're already used to conversing with cats outside their clans

warriors rewrite
so like i’ve said a million times i’m bitter about the writing and plot in warriors.
i might reread the new prophecy to refresh my memory but here’s the gist of my idea from what i remember of the books lol
so the big thing for the new prophecy is gonna be a code rewrite and the clans changing to permanent allies. if you’ve seen moonkiti’s video on the clans joining it would be something along those lines.
the new prophecy would be the perfect place to start. for the rewrite Brambleclaw, Tawnypelt, Feathertail, and Stormfur act as older siblings to squilf and Crowpaw. Feathertail is no longer Crow’s mate/crush. instead she’s a big support to him. she’d honestly act much the same as she did in the book ngl.
Storm and feather as half clan cats already find the clan system to be a bit oppressive. i mean hell, they were almost killed for being half clan. Bramble and Tawny are similar in that regard as they’re close but separated.
for this rewrite Crow and squirrel end up together. that along with the groups mutual friendship is where the frustration with the clans begins. the group itself is much closer here, slowly forgetting borders n stuff.
feather’s death has an even greater impact. squirrel and Crow get together after that since they become big supports to each other. Storm is especially affected. he sees cats from other clans grieving for his clanmate too. it really strikes him that they’re honestly no different from each other.
on the journey home he starts to talk to them about the clans becoming sort of permanent allies. after all that’s happened, they’re not that opposed to the idea. Storm is the big driving force for a lot of this. he feels it’s what his sister wanted. Crow, who was also very close to her, is the same. Crow gets a character arc a bit bigger than the others. he really has to unlearn clan prejudice.
the lake journey only emphasizes the need to join together. this time other cats start to see that as well.once they get there, Squirrel and Crow have secret meetings almost off the bat. in fact, the original journey cats meet up as well. (separate to the squirrel and crow one.)ash still asks Squilf out and she still turns him down. she also still has a falling out with Bramble about Hawkfrost. she knows a little about how shitty he is from Leafpool.
Bramble ends up telling Hawk about the gangs’ ideas of the clans joining. i mean hell, he’s got three siblings in other clans. Bramble actually befriends Mothwing in this rewrite. i always found it ridiculous he only acknowledges his brother and not his sister.
Moth loves the idea. as a med cat the clan rules are a bit different so she was already more open to the idea.Hawk uses the multiclan idea as part of trying to convince Bramble to kill firestar. in the rewrite tho, Moth confesses about how shitty Hawk’s been to her and storm. Bramble pretty much cuts contact with him and Tigerstar. the firestar trap scene does still happen tho.
in this rewrite squilf ends up pregnant and asks Bramble to pretend to be the father. they’ve patched up their relationship by now and he agrees. squilf tells leaf about it first. Leaf knew about them being mates and had been jealous.
not of squirrel, but their relationship. i mean her main friend in the new prophecy started to drift away cause of a relationship too. she agrees to help Squirrel however she can tho. she connects more with Moth cause of her jealousy.
a lot comes together with the original journey cats, Leafpool, Mothwing and Graystripe. the big climax is them at a gathering trying to convince the clans to join together. Squilf reveals she’s having Crow’s kits there. Bramble and his siblings stand united. (hawk’s been killed by now)
Storm points out how they all had to work together with the badgers and that the clans do better working together then apart.
Leafpool makes a big selling point. the clans are together in starclan, why can’t they do that now? how many half clan relationships reconnect there? starclan can’t find it THAT bad if it’s allowed there.
the cats mostly argue that the clans should stay individual, but together. allowing for halfclan relationships and working together through hardships.
the clans agree at the end of the arc.
Po3 is mostly buildup to the dark forest. the three are working through their odd relationship with their father. breezepaw doesn’t exist. the tensions with the clans joining are also high. cats like Dustpelt or Spiderleg don’t like it at all.
everyone’s a little snippy with each other. gatherings are still a thing to help maintain relationships. there’s always a lot of bickering here though.
Jay still becomes a warrior. he, Crow, and Squirrel talk to firestar about him being treated better and how they can help him out. Holly still becomes a med cat. she’s not great with herbs and she’s better at fighting but she wants to be higher in the clan. she says leaders are seen as highest but she belives med cats are more important.
Leaf loves her to bits.
the fire scene also happens. Squirrel pushes Ash into the fire. she ends up permanently disabled cause of it tho. (in the book Ash had to help her move the log as she was still recovering from a major injury. i wanted to use that for the rewrite. pushing him in messes up the injury and messes her up real bad.)
omen of the stars is mostly more darkforest buildup. the dark forest cats try to isolate the clans again and turn them against each other. a lot pf the plot is about the three trying to keep everyone together. hollyleaf is the third cat in this au.
might have Dove as the mysterious 4th cat or somthing. maybe i’ll have her move to shadowclan and Ivy feels bitter and like she was abandoned.
anyways, the clans really get tested in the battle. it’s much longer in the rewrite. i felt like the battle was too short in the original. Holly is still killed. Ivy kills Hawk.
Storm, Bramble, Leaf, Moth, Cinderheart, Mothwing, Willowshine, Tawny, Crow, Squirrel, Fire, Ivy, Jay, Lion, they all mourn her. cats actually have and retain friendships in this rewrite. for instance, Lion and Heather get to stay friends.
everyone expects them to become mates but they never do. they’re just good friends.
anyways, i always thought Bramble was a dick in the books. maybe not abusive per se but he was just a jerk. he’s stern but kind in the rewrite. he had so much of his character be about not becoming Tigerstar n stuff. idk i feel like he should have stayed consistently nice. squirrel still becomes his deputy, not as a sign of forgiveness like the books, he just genuinly trusts her.
also we get Tawnystar cause that’s what she deserves.
that’s what i’ve go so far! sorry if u had to read all that lmao! this is just somthing i’ve had in the back of my head, feel free to suggest stuff for it as it’s not too complete.

(I wrote all of this at 4am. it is very much a ramble)
Ok. Ok hear me out. Seriously just listen. Oh my god. Ok. So???
Warrior Cats Soulmate AU
Has this been done before?? I've never heard of it but I haven't read that many wc fanfics so it wouldn’t surprise me if it has
Here, have some bullet points
Some cats have matching patterns on their fur, they aren't usually to noticeable and are often similar in shape/obscured by other markings so it's hard to tell which cats match until they touch.
When soulmates touch for the first time, their mark turns white and gets a clearer shape
Soulmates are believed to be a gift from Starclan but are actually from the ancients (or whatever force is giving Starclan prophecies about the Three)
Obviously Starclan acts like they control it because they're fucking Starclan
It is very common for cats to have multiple soul marks and it's often clearly and strictly platonic
Firestar has three soulmates, the first is Graystripe
This is why he was brought into Thunderclan
Yes- the prophecy of fire was still going on but Rusty would've been invited in no matter what because it's expected for cats to move clans to be with their soulmate even though having a soulmate in another clan is rare
If/when they do move clans, they're still judged and distrusted, their old clan would likely hate them
Firestar’s second is Spottedleaf
He’s her only soulmate, this would be why she’s so obsessed with him even though they were friends for like less than a book
Graystripe has two soulmates: Firestar and Silverstream, the latter's soul marks were like, on their bellies or something so it was easier to hide
Fireheart is super divided on this because he was in love with Graystripe, but he still chose to help hide the secret because he wants Graystripe to be happy
Sandstorm doesn't have a soulmark, she and Fire fall in love regardless
Ravenpaw and Barley are soulmates, which is a relief to Gray and Fire when they helped Raven run away
Bluestar and Oakheart were soulmates, she has a large scar on her shoulder from an injury she got on purpose just to mask it
(maybe she through herself onto a rock,,, not knowing that that’s how her soulmate will eventually die aaa)
Firestar's third Soulmate was Onestar, neither willing to leave their clan, but they couldn't hide it (and didnt consider injuring themselves over it)
This is the main reason why Onestar tries so hard to prove himself as someone not reliant on help from Thunderclan
And is also why Firestar is so quick to forgive him once they’re both in Starclan
(Maybe they date after they die? but only after Sandstorm dies so they know she’s cool with it,, :o maybe all three of them date?? idk man i just ship things)
Jake and Tallstar are soulmates because of course they are
Jake didn't even know a soulmate was a thing, most nonclan cats dont, so he doesn't think it's that big of a deal when they separate at the end of the book
But Talltail had always intended on living out his life with his soulmate
It was his comfort whenever his mom was mad at him for existing or when his dad talked about him not being a tunnel digger like expected or when the other apprentices called him Wormkit
He’d tell himself it didn't matter, all of it would be okay, because one day he'd be with another cat who loved him no matter what and they could fend of the world together
And then they break up, and Talltail gets so sad some nights because he lost his one coping mechanism, he couldn’t hope to find a soulmate when said soulmate was already found, and though things were much better for him in the clan, it didn't help much on lonely nights
His new comfort was that Jake was going to have a son, he knew this thanks to Starclan telling him, and he'd do everything in his power to act like a better father to Fire than his own father was to him
Squirrelflight and Leafpool are soulmates
This is purely platonic, they are siblings, it is completely normal for siblings to be each other's soulmates
Soulmates are never considered an inherently romantic thing
Their soul marks are what allows them to communicate in the earlier books before the erins forgot that they had super powers
Brambleclaw has five soul marks, Tawnypelt, his sister, is the first and Squirrelflight is the second
Firestar is very protective over his kits and though he sees Bramble as a son, he also sees him as Tigerstar's clone
he's very passive aggressive to Bramble for a while after the discovery even though he knows it's illogical to be mad
He gets paranoid on top of this anger when Cinderpelt receives the tiger and fire prophecy
The four journey prophecy cats are chosen because they are all soulmates
Stormfur's soulmates are his sister, Feathertail and Brook Where Small Fish Swim
Feathertail has four, the prophecy cats plus her brother
(The prophecy cats are Brambleclaw, Tawnypelt, Feathertail, and Crowpaw)
Tawnypelt's fourth soulmate is Rowanstar
Crowfeather’s fourth is Leafpool
Leafpool has three: Squirrelflight, Crowfeather, and Mothwing
Mothwing doesn't believe in the mark, and wills herself into thinking that she always had that spot of white
This breaks Leafpool's heart because she was so in love with this Riverclan cat but refused to admit it to herself
(Medicine cats aren't supposed to leave for their soulmate's clan as the relationship is supposed to always be platonic, and they can ignore boarder rules to visit their soulmates)
Brambleclaw's fifth mark is Hawkfrost
They figure out they're siblings almost immediately after the mark appears
This is a very toxic relationship, obviously, and the mark is used to help guilt trip Bramble into training in the dark forest
Ashfur has no soul marks but he 'loves' Squirrelflight
He tries, and maybe succeeds, to get Bramble and Squirrel to break up by pointing out that Bramble has five soul mates (the most of all the cats in Thunderclan) so it's okay if she isn't his mate
Or alternatively: he says that Bramble won't miss her if she leaves him because he has so many soulmates to fall back on
(Ignoring the fact that two are his siblings and one is dead. Really the only one available is Crowfeather,, who’s a little procupied lol)
I might write more on this idk
#warrior cats#warrior cats fic#soulmate au#the prophecy begins#the new prophecy#tallstar's revenge#tbh i should've been writing the next chapter of a spiders shadow#instead of this#actually i shouldve been sleeping#i only got 3 ish hours of sleep ack-

Warrior Cats AU: Medicine Cat Bramblelight (Part 4)
Okay, by now the title probably barely fits since I’m rewriting a lot more characters and arcs and switching some events up, but hell, I’m keeping it for consistency.
So, last time I hinted Leafpool and Bramblelight were getting close, and who could blame them. They did spend a lot of time together as medicine cats, and Cinderpelt didn’t seem to mind as long as they didn’t neglect their duties, and nobody would suspect them to be a couple, right? Though one night, Leafpool notices they’ve taken it too far. She searches for her sister the next day and explains to Squirrelflight how ... That’s right, she is pregnant with our three little super powered prophecy machines, and this means panic! Squirrelflight helps her to keep it hid for the time being, but you really think Bramblelight, Leafpool’s mate and long time medicine cat wouldn’t notice something was wrong?
So, he confronts Leafpool about avoiding him, and she admits to being pregnant, something he doesn’t know how to respond to. He is happy about it, but simultaneously, what were they going to tell the clan? While they ponder, Squirrelflight comes up with an idea.
You see, this Squirrelflight didn’t stay single in this rewrite just because Brambleclaw doesn’t exist, oh no, we all know there is a number two.
Ashfur.
Squirrelflight is happily together with him, since in this rewrite, there is no big fight between her and Brambleclaw, no betrayal of Ashfur’s feelings and him becoming a “misunderstood darling who only loved too much” aka a psychopath (Sadly, the fire scene won’t be started by him, letting his blonde hair flow, not in this rewrite).
So, Squirrelflight proposes to take in Leafpool’s kits after they’re born and pretend that they are hers and Ashfur’s, something she would gladly do since the two of them have been incapable of getting kits of their own for some reason (anyone remember the Squirrelflight being barren fact that was written to be a lie? Not in this AU) which the two medicine cats agree to under one condition.
Ashfur has to know about this as well because Ashfur isn’t an idiot (few cats are in this rewrite) and knows for a fact that Squirrelflight isn’t pregnant. So, they get him in on the secret and while very hesitant about it, he can’t just leave both his mate and sister-in-law hanging like that and agrees.
Time goes by and Leafpool is close to getting her kits, but they need a safe and hidden place for her to get them. So, for one day Bramblelight, Leafpool and Squirrelflight disappear out of the Thunderclan territory to keep it a secret, with Ashfur covering for them back at camp.
And first it goes great! Leafpool gets her kits (Jaykit, Hollykit and Lionkit respectively) and Bramblelight is happy beyond believe. It hurts the two parents to give their kits to Squirrelflight, as it would mean they would never be allowed to tell them who their real parents are, but melancholy feelings don’t last long as they are found by Midnight the badger, telling them about the attack on their territory.
They rush back, keeping the kits safe and fending off the badgers as best as they can, but Cinderpelt dies in the fight. Leafpool and Bramblelight are hard broken about it, but Firestar also confronts them about where they had been. Keeping in line with their lie, Squirrelflight reveals the three kits and explains how she didn’t want to be confided in the nursery while pregnant and how only Leafpool, Bramblelight and Ashfur knew about.
Firestar gives into his soft spot, seeing his new grandchildren and how none of them could have known that there would be a badger attack.
Thus, Squirrelflight gets moved into the nursery to care for “her” children with Bramblelight and Leafpool watching from the sidelines, their hearts aching. But it had to be done, right? The most the two can do is visit the three, bringing them gifts like honey and feathers to play with.
At least until Jaykit is revealed to be blind.
Now, the first part is still similar the beginning of the power of three arc, with Jaykit finding out about the prophecy Firestar gets send up until they get made apprentices.
The focus shifts to Lionpaw, who gets a visit in his dreams, from who? Tigerstar of course, who promises the boy to make him stronger than anyone else, which Lionpaw accepts without questioning (because he might be the only idiot here). But at his second or third visit to the dark forest, on his way he meets another brown tabby with ice blue eyes.
Hawkfrost.
The tom’s pelt was full of open claw wounds, just having a fight with Tigerstar about how he was unsure he still wanted to follow him. It resulted in a fight that made him make his mind up about whom to trust and who not, and this little golden brown apprentice he met on his way back reminded him a little too much of Mothwing than he liked to admit.
They only talk for a very short while before they both wake up in their clans, but Hawkfrost feels like something was wrong.
Why was that kit so similar to him, his sister and ...
What was Tigerstar actually planning?

October may now be over but that doesn’t mean that the spookiness of the season has to be over yet! Throughout the entire month of October, The Warriors Amino shared in the festivities of Halloween with trick-or-treating events, contests and raffles. The creative clans of this amino also took part by assigning more spooky fall-based prompts for weeklies, biweeklies and monthlies. For those unfamiliar, the creative clans on amino are a community of individuals who share a common interest, whether it be artwork, writing, arts & crafts or even cooking! These individuals every few weeks or months are required to make a post with their original work based on a prompt given by the people in charge of the clan. The piece depicted above, illustrated by @pilvikaupunki, was created for one of these clans, Alterclan! Alterclan, according to their official wiki on amino, is a clan “all about asking the question "What if?"”. The members & leadership team take scenarios and major choices from the books, and create art, stories, or theories about what would happen if the characters had chosen the other option, or if the story had gotten a different outcome. The clan basically uses the butterfly effect to analyze Warriors. The butterfly effect being the idea that a simple event leads to more events that creates a story or plot line.
The prompt for the month was October was “What if medicine cats were given the power to see how cats in their own clan would die?” @pilvikaupunki mentions in their post that they were listening to the song ‘Let you Down’ by Cyberpunk Edgerunners while working on this piece. Lyrics like “Sorry I let you down” served as inspiration for them when creating. The idea of medicine cats bring death prophets is nothing new in Warrior cats. Almost all medicine cats have seen visions of future events, and some have even seen visions predicting deaths. For instance, in the New Prophecy, Leafpool receives the “Blood will spill blood” prophecy which foretold Hawkfrost’s death at the paws of Brambleclaw. Likewise in the Power of Three & Omen of the Stars, Jayfeather experienced Fallen Leaves’ death first hand. He also had a vision of the cats closest to him dying when he wanted to remain in the past with Half Moon. Probably the two most notable examples of these death visions in seen in the Broken Code arc and newest arc, A Starless Clan. ⚠️ Be mindful that ahead is spoilers for both arcs, if you do not want to be spoiled then please stop reading. ⚠️
Just for some background, Frostpaw is the medicine cat apprentice under Mothwing who serves as a POV in A Starless Clan. In the first book of a Starless Clan, It is revealed that Frostpaw earned her rank of medicine cat apprentice due to a vision she received. This vision was of her father Jayclaw leaving her in camp by herself. This is significant because shortly after it was revealed that Jayclaw had passed away. The book never explains how he died but this scene gives evidence to a theory many fans have started to consider about Frostpaw. This theory is yet again supported later in River, when Frostpaw has a vision determining Curlfeather as the next leader of Riverclan. During the journey to take her mother to the moonpool to receive her name and lives, they are attacked by dogs who end up killing Curlfeather. Many fans interprets Frostpaw’s leader vision as foreshadowing Curlfeather’s death. If this assumption is correct, that would mean Frostpaw saw visions about two deaths that occurred. However, this connection could be seen as reaching as Frostpaw didn’t see (in her vision) or expect that her parents were going to die. Hopefully with the next book of A Starless Clan, Sky, some of mystery behind her visions will be revealed and fans can finally confirm or refute this theory.
On the other hand, there is a cat whose visions are more obviously about death. Coming from the Broken Code arc, this character is actually depicted in the piece above. I’m talking about the one and only Shadowsight! Again for context, Shadowsight is a current medicine cat of Shadowclan, Puddleshine’s apprentice. His parents are Tiger(heart)star & Dovewing, making him the product of a half-clan relationship. Shadowsight’s siblings include Lightleap & Pouncestep along with Birchkit & Rowankit. Shadowsight, at a very young age, experienced violent seizures that would cause visions, usually of what was to happen in the future. His most notable vision as a kit told him to run out into a flood so the clans had to work together to save him. Later as a medicine cat apprentice he hears a voice that he interprets as Starclan. The voice (Ashfur) tells him how to heal the ill Thunderclan leader Bramblestar and Shadowpaw follows orders. This leads to Bramblestar’s death and Ashfur’s possession of his body. At the end of the arc, it’s revealed that Shadowsight’s visions never did come from Starclan. All the visions he has received in his life came from Ashfur which means seeing the future was all Ashfur’s doing. So, in a technical sense, Shadowsight isn’t really a death prophet but he did somewhat predict the death of Bramblestar without meaning too.
Honestly I think that Shadowsight would probably suffer a lot if he had this power, I feel like all medicine cats would. But I want to know what YOU think. Do you think this would be a beneficial power for medicine cats? Or do you think this ability would make it difficult for them to do their job? What other power do you think would be interesting to see in Warriors? Do you think Warriors should have powers at all? Leave all your thoughts, opinions and feedback in the comments below. SkyClan Ancestors are still separated from StarClan, having their own system and prophercies and all, even if sometimes they overlap with StarClan. They still choosed to be separate “entities”.
StarClan also have Judges, entities more commonly called as Them. Two of them, a starry lion (representing original LionClan) and starry tiger (representing original TigerClan). They are the highest entity in StarClan, making all decisions, but letting StarClan cats that they can make choices and all. Living cats, including medicine cats, don’t know about Their existence, StarClan cats are forbidden to mention Them ever. Speaking of Them, They decide where the cat go after dying, who will be present on leader’s ceremony and all that fancy stuff. They can kick cats out, or bright them from Dark Forest. They are all-knowing, but often let’s cats make choices on their own, just to test them and see how much they can think on their own. But will keep an iron paw on them, reminding them whenever They can to who they belong and who is a leader here.
Since SkyClan Ancestors became separated from StarClan, Judges had limited accessibility to them, much to Their displeasure. Even if living SkyClan was rebuilded and Leafstar were granted nine lifes, it wasn’t ceremony hold by StarClan, but SkyClan Ancestors. But when SkyClan moved to the lake, Judges sort of accepted them and let them speak with StarClan via Moonpool.
Speaking of, Judges really don’t like cats that meddle with Their prophercies. Since They like to keep strong grip on fates set by Them, getting in Their way usually leads to terrifing consequences. They were displeased when Squirrelpaw and Stormfur joined The Journeying cats, they were even more displeased when Brambleclaw killed Hawkfrost, instead of letting Mothwing doing it as They planned.
When SkyClan Ancestors revealed the Kin of Your Kin prophecy to Firestar, Judges wanted it to go Their way - future kits of Firestar’s kin will get powers to save clans. But SkyClan’s Ancestors didn’t wanted that to happen since they had their own idea, and they were the ones to grant powers to different cats of their choosing. However, by the time of rebulding SkyClan, only Sandstorm and Brightheart were alive. Not wanting to take any chances of Judges to stop them, Ancestors granted Sandstorm powers first, but then Judges gave them Brightheart, but not full - she couldn’t really enter Dreamland or easily control her powers. It was a way of Them showing Ancestors that They have the last word in that matter. Then both of them waited for the third cat to be born, and once Crowfeather had kits with Leafpool, both groups latched on him to gave him the power - Ancestors did that first, but Judge didn’t see him too worthy and decided to make it horribly malfunctioning, as a punishment (not only him, but also SkyClan Ancestors for meddling). Brambleclaw got his power secretly from StarClan, but not Judges. That’s also why he doesn’t have markings, to “hide” him.
But since wrong cats got powers, Judges were nontheless very mad.
There are StarClan cats that are Their serious followers, and wish to do everything for them. Even if They ask them to torment wrongly choosen Prophecy cats, they will do it. Anything to please Judges.
