Random little One piece modern AU thoughts and I guess scenes I had about mainly Luffy

1. Luffy is the best guy to take to karaoke. While he isn’t the best singer he’s also not the worst. However he sings with his whole chest and heart and will sing duets with anyone no matter how lovey or metal. His energy always brought everyone out of their shells he just has a bad habit of singing when it’s not his turn

2. I feel like in a modern AU Luffy would still be friends with a lot of the people he met in series just under different conditions. Like water 7 instead of the mayor almost being assassinated he just. Met him. Like on good terms. idk, maybe Luffy saved tyrannosaurus and now they just exchange animals pics and the occasional “hey I’m heading to insert place where should I go to eat” and Luffy just introduces the Baratie with no heads up to Zeff and Sanji and when Sanji spams the group chat freaking out he just says you’re welcome :D

3. Luffy keeps the contacts of everyone he’s met and keep them under their nicknames. Monster granny, hammock, split head ect. It’s the only way he can remember them after all. When nami had gotten nosy and decided to go through his contacts she obviously asked who tf ice pops was. Imagine her surprise when Luffy confidently answers that it’s the mayor from a few towns over.

4. In a modern AU the ASL brothers were totally still bush kids. Like. Dadan’s (probably community house) was right by the woods and they would have a similar childhood to canon with less killing wild animals. But they also a thousand fucking percent had a Nintendo Wii. Like Ace and Sabo fought tooth and NAIL for player one and Luffy was banished to player three with the dingiest controller known to man (not even the safety strap could protect that thing from getting tossed at the tv) And speaking from my own experience as a younger sibling Ace totally spent a whole summer trying to unlock every character in Mario kart.

5. Law met the straw hats in collage at 2 am when they got kicked out of a bar and he was trying to mind his own business. While they saw him in their intoxicated state and said “you’re my friend now :)” Law was genuinely worried half of them had alcohol poisoning. An hour later he found himself in one of their apartments two of them passed out. One of them throwing up. All while he makes a grilled cheese for Luffy, the so called infamous man on campus who is crying sitting on the floor cause he’s starving. Law stayed the night to make sure none of them drowned in their own vomit and like imprinted baby ducks they have not left him alone since.

6. Luffy has been going to riots and movements for years. He started going with Sabo and Ace growing up when they were teenagers and hasn’t stopped. He also never thought to mention it to any of his friends until they saw him on the news at a protest absolutely fucking SENDING a tear gas canister back at the cops

7. I kinda wanna believe while devil fruits don’t exist in modern AU the character still has quirks semi related to their fruit. Like Robin is just, double jointed everywhere and could bend her arms and fingers in all the worst ways. Luffy can either contort his body to hide in tiny places OR he has stretchy skin. It’s nothing more then party tricks but it is cool

8. Luffy was definitely a gymnastics kid. Not in like. The competing sense. But in like the, one of the adults in his life would drop him off there twice a week for an hour. Did he participate with the other children and learn how to roll? NO! He was flinging himself full speed into giant foam mats and climbing rock walls without a harness. He was a menace to society and he was only taken to blow off some energy and it WORKED. Until he was kicked out.

NOOOOOOOO I LOST THE AU I WROTE FOR YOU 😭😭😭 I LITERALLY SENT IT AND TUMBLR SAID "NETWORK ERROR". L FOR THE WIFI. L. Not cool I'm literally crying I thought that AU was genius. It was a Teacher!Buggy AU with Crocomom and Dadhawk. + Shanks co-parenting Luffy with Crocodile. That note was so long I literally spent like 45 mins writing it here on your ask and it was just. Gone. Or I think it did. Why does life hate me. I'm just gonna be brief with this cuz I still think it's golden lmao. Croco and Mihawk work long hours so their kids (Luffy, Zoro, Perona) have to wait for a few hours until they're picked up by their parents. The school doesn't have school buses bc I said so (no I am not cruel it's just out of my budget /j). So Buggy takes the responsibility to keep them comfortable and entertained while they wait. Croco and Mihawk meeting this charming (and clown looking) blue-haired guy and they start courting him. Shanks gets dragged in on the courting bc of Luffy. Also he was already courting Buggy. I didn't write their process of courting I basically skipped and went,, their wedding will take part in a Goth castle. And the design are all sunshine and rainbows (literally). Sanji, Usopp, Nami, Vivi, Zoro and Luffy being in a class along with other kids. Franky, Robin, Jinbei and Brook are in higher classes. Chopper is atom. Not here in the world yet. Perona is like, 2-3yrs older than her brothers so. Yeah *awkwardly shuffles* (I love perona I swear-). Implied Zosan. Some rando: but you didn't imply shi— Me: Shhh I did. *gaslighting*. Law is also there in the classroom with lower grade strawhats. He's suffering. He only attends 3 days a week tho, he's mostly homeschooled bc of his sickness. He's homeschooled by Cora. (You can pry Law and Cora from my cold dead hands. You can separate them when I dissolve into ashes). Don't worry as he gets older his sickness is cured. Ofc he's cured by Cora. He's saved by Cora in every universe. In every AU. Every Era. Every life they will ever live. I thought I was just making a Teacher!Buggy AU but then it turns into a Modern!AU for everyone. Let's gooooo. Sora divorces with Judge and remarry with Zeff so now Sanji lives with all his brothers and his sister. They get separate classrooms tho, and reiju is perona's age so she's besties with her. (I do not play by canon's rules with ages bc i live in my own world) They both tease their brothers (Sanji and Zoro) about their crushes on each other. The heart crew is there. Bepo is a dog, a very fluffy one. Kuina is alive. Kaya is there, same classroom with Usopp. I have no idea how to continue this lmao, but I do hope you find this interesting bc Buggy is 100% great with kids and probably teaches well bc he is a big nerd and makes lessons interesting. (Also, the whole reason why I wrote this instead of letting the idea slip through my mind like the others is bc the image of two goth men courting a clown looking mf was funny to me. So here we are lmao. The way I wrote this makes Shanks look like he's the person they let into their open relationship twice lol I'm so sorry 😭😭)

That's really sad, I really like this idea (though I see Shanks and Buggy more as siblings, but I understand the idea of Shuggy) It's fine that this became about so many people, I really like this.

Teacher!Buggy sounds so cool, you know that he's the flashiest and maybe one of the craziness of the things he'll do to get his students good things that will boost their learning. He knows that every kid might not have the same learning paths as others.

How many classes does this man teach? Who knows, too many for how much he gets paid. All teachers needs to get paid more.

I would think Jinbei and Brook being other fun teachers in the school, like Tom could be as well!

I really like this idea, and the imagine of two gothic men trying to court a clown-looking mf is really funny to me as well.

I'm just thinking of an au of my au where it's canon but Rosinante lives and KataCora raised Law.

And Law being forced to go to Totto Land with the Sanji Rescue team when they find out he was raised as a Charlotte for a few years because he'd be perfect in giving them information on where to go and what to do.

Completely, y'know, ignoring the fact that he left for a reason and thus is branded as a traitor and should never actually return if he wanted to continue living but it's Luffy, he never listens.

And the whole time they're there, Luffy is like pointing at every guy asking, "Hey, is that your dad??" and Law, without fail, every single time is like "Hell no he's not," and when they run across Cracker, Law's like "He wishes he was my dad" because he knows he had a small crush on his papa when they first got to Totto land and he's still pretty pissed about it.

And when Luffy and Nami and Chopper and Carrot are going against Cracker and Brulee, they're like "Law are you just going to stand there or what?" and he's just like "I'm not going to help you beat up my family" and besides he's there against his will, he's very unhappy about being there right now.

And one would think because of the vast amount of Charlotte siblings there are, it'd be unlikely that they'd all know him and vice versa, but no, they all do. Because when you have a dad like Katakuri who's admired by all his younger siblings and uncles and aunties who are competitive af, they'd all try to get Katakuri's favor via his son, so Law is pretty aware of what they all look like, and maybe even some of their powers too.

And when Law FINALLY meets his dad again when they're trying to escape Totto land and Katakuri is just sitting to the side as Luffy fights Perospero. Law stands in front of him and is just like, "Hey fight me, I wanna see how far I've come."

And because both Katakuri and Rosinante trained Law, his combat skills are pretty damn good, his observation haki too - which has gotten better after being on his own for a bit - so he's at least able to dodge all of his dad's attacks even if he's struggling to actually hit him.

But when Law finally manages to cut him once, he's happy since he's never been able to do it, but Katakuri is like "don't get cocky just because you've hit me once" and hits him which just sends him flying.

Law is a bit upset saying "You went easy on me again, didn't you." But Katakuri, as stoic as he is, can't help but show a smile or proudness saying that no, he wasn't actually going easy on him and that "Rosi would be proud."

Unfortunately Law doesn't actually get to run into Rosinante, his Cora-san, but he jokes to his dad saying "I won't tell papa if you won't," because while yes they've trained before which involved them both getting hurt, just not to that extent and Rosinante would not be happy with either of them.

And at the end of it all, Luffy's all smug to Law because "Hey Torao, I beat up your dad," because Law's been saying the whole time they were in Totto land they'd never be able to beat him.

Luffy isn't the type to keep bringing it up but oh god the rest of the strawhat pirates won't shut up about it, and now everyone knows and won't let him live it down.

Ace being raised by Shanks, asked by Rouge, and when Ace and Luffy become friends and then brothers at school, Luffy starts looking up to Shanks

Dragon works for some sort of public service and when he finds out about Sabo, helps him get out of his home and simply gives him to Garp or Shanks because Sabo is friends with Ace and Luffy

Robin was just found by Crocodile on the street after O'Hara was burned (rather than an island O'Hara was a block of apartments known to house PhD students) and he just kind of took her in

Hiriluk is old friends with Kureha and so she's auntie Kureha

After Bell-mere is killed in gang violence, her old friend Corazon takes in Nami and her sister, alongside Law who he's been looking after for a while by that point

Zoro's parents died young and when Mihawk heard from his old friend (Kuina's dad) that this young boy who trained so hard at the dojo was in foster care, Mihawk figured a second kid wouldn't hurt

Mihawk also cares for Perona, his "friend" Moria is prone to taking long trips and forgetting his daughter can't fend for herself so several years ago he just gave her a key so she could come over whenever she needed - Moria doesn't seem to have noticed

Yassop got into an injury at work that left him unfit to care for his son. When his best friend and crush's parents offered to care for Usopp for him while he recovered as best as he could, Yassop jumped at the chance. He visits regularly, which is how Usopp meets Luffy, long before they started school

Franky and Robin are a little older than the others, and have been friends for years now. Both were outcast by their peers. Much like canon, despite their age difference, Luffy simply decided they were his friends now. At first they were unsure, since Luffy and his friends were so young, but it turns out Crocodile knows Mihawk and Shanks and so she decides it's okay. It's only by chance that they hadn't met sooner, really

Sanji got into Zeff's care after running away. He was a retired private investigator so with the power of favours and connections, he managed to adopt Sanji. It was always in his plans to go back for the kid's siblings, eventually. But, without them admitting to any harm, he had little to go on.

Brook knew Shanks when they were younger. He'd admired Roger and found out one of his "kids" went to the same school as him. They became acquaintances, and over time friends. He met Ace after Rouge died, and became uncle Brook.

Jinbei knows Mihawk and Crocodile from work. He's a similar age to them, so serves in the uncle role much like Brook does. He's known Robin and Zoro since they were taken in, though never realised the kids hadn't met.

It was a grand population at Grand Ocean High. It was just an ordinary school but it was fairly popular. It wasn’t a run down school with slop to feed the zombies they called students, but it wasn’t prestigious where they treated them like royals. Somewhere in the middle is where it laid.

You, a Junior, couldn’t wait to just graduate already. You pulled into the parking lot with your own car, that was proudly given to your by your single mother. It wasn’t anything expensive, quite run down considering it was a hand-me-down, but it did its job. With a sigh, your stared at the steering wheel, wallowing in the stress that dwelled in your head from the mere presence of the school building.

The year had only just started a few months ago, thus the crisp rigid cold from winter crept along day by day. Your car blasted the heating, you couldn’t stand the cold. The feeling of getting goosebumps and your fingers being stiff made you uncomfortable, hence why you always wore fuzzy attire.

A knock echoed on your glass window beside you. The shockwave startled your soul due to the deep trance of your own self pity. Your panicked eyes soon dissolved once you realized who called for you. A shaggy, long haired guy that grossly wore a baggy, orange tank in the 50 degree weather. You hated that about him.

All you could focus on him was his hearty laugh once he realized he startled you. You resented on lowering the window, but obliged with a menacing glare.

“Morning”

You grumbled. The muffled laughs grew louder once the window was buried in your car. You watched him relax, the same still expression on your face.

“You looked like a moron!” He teased. You just stood silent, feeling a vein poke out your forehead.

“You look like a moron with that stupid tank top in freezing weather” You snarled. It caused the cowboy looking guy to observe his attire.

“It’s not that cold, is it?” He asked, dumbfounded.

You had enough of Ace’s tomfoolery and just snatched your backpack that laid next to you. The door swung straight into Ace’s body, causing him to grunt in slight pain. Ace tanked it, though, he was an athlete after all.

“Hey, hey watch it!” Ace shook a fist. You just grinned and kicked the door shut. As you strut your body forward to the school entrance, you heard Ace follow on your tail.

You and Ace were rather close since freshman year. See, you weren’t from Grand Ocean, so you were a complete newbie. In the school, everyone knew each other while simultaneously keeping into their own groups, like wolves in a pack. Ace was an overall social butterfly, and made you feel welcome. Ever since then Ace saw you as a little sibling.

Unlike you, though, Ace was a fairly popular student. Everyone adored him and his athletic ability. He was captain of the basket ball team, practically homing in the schools gym. The contrast between the two teenagers was significantly huge, but they managed. You would oftentimes help Ace with academics when Ace would typically slack off. Ace was a senior, though, so after this year you wouldn’t have his presence. It was a blessing but also a curse.

Ace talked your ear off as you two entered the school premises. In the morning, you were like a hermit crab, you resented everyone. ‘Why would anyone be so cheerful this early?’ You’d ponder, looking up at Ace that was lost in his own conversation.

You fumbled your fingers on your designated locker, Ace still by your side as usual. Ace was like a mother duck with ducklings, though. Soon enough, a shaggier boy ran toward the two along with a more well kept blonde trying to catch him. Ace grew a pearly smile as he made eye contact with his brothers. You, on the other hand, felt your eyes twitch. It was too early…

“Ace! Ace!” The smaller boy jumped.

“Luffy, relax! What’d you even have for breakfast this morning…” The blonde looked embarrassed, but still had a smile on his face.

“Morning, Sabo” You waved at Sabo with a frail hand and a small smile. Sabo was the only brother that you could tolerate most of the time. Sabo gleamed at you.

“Mornin’ (F/N)!”

Sabo had a hand raised to greet his friend. They were all a small group, but then again, both Luffy and Ace had more than one group. Arguably, they were the most popular in GOH.

Sabo was sort of tucked in both of their shadows, which slightly disappointed him. Everyone liked Sabo only for the sole purpose that he was related to the two golden boys. You were aware with Sabo’s reputation and tried to make him feel validated as much as possible.

“Ace! I got morning detention!” Luffy cheered. Despite the literal punishment given to him, Luffy was still cheerful and laid back as ever. He never took anything seriously.

“You runt!” Ace chuckled, ruffling Luffy’s messy hair. It seemed like Luffy never did his hair in the morning.

“I tried to stop him but…” Sabo sighed in defeat only to receive another ruffle of the hair by Ace’s rough palm.

“Don’t worry, you’re fine” He smiled. Ace then wrapped his toned arm around you, startling you slightly.

“I’m going to send this one to their class and I’ll see you guys later!” Ace said proudly. Sabo and Luffy watched as you sighed in defeat with a slightly agitated expression.

Sabo waved at you with a soft smile while he practically dragged Luffy away to avoid anymore ruckus and trouble. Ace jerked his body around to pace towards your first period. He knew your schedule from the back of his hand.

“People are going to think we’re dating…” You said with disgust in your voice. You eyed every student that eyed the two of you back. Some people have actually questioned you if you two were a thing. It was becoming a chore to debunk it every time.

“Who cares! I tell everyone we’re basically siblings” Ace replied. He snaked his arm off of you and placed them behind his head. You watched him effortlessly wave and greet random students that you’ve never seen. His popularity was too much for you.

You felt your back being pushed into your designated classroom. You saw a few students already in there chatting with their friends. Luckily, you had another friend share your class.

“I’ll see you in gym, Ace” You’d sigh. Ace drummed you shoulder in response and hooked into a group of guys that you were slightly fond of. It was his basketball group.

The rowdy boys were irrelevant to you, only knowing them from your friend. You jerked your body into the classroom and sat next to the pink haired, gothic looking girl.

She perked her head at you with a smile, you reciprocating it back.

“Morning, (F/N)!” Perona smiled. You eyed her attire and was taken back by how much effort she’d put into it every day.

“Morning, Perona” You sat at your assigned desk that was right next to the gothic girl. You slung your backpack behind your chair.

“I saw you were with Zoro the other day. How’d that go?” You asked as you rested your cheek on your palm.

“It was rather nice, we bumped into each other while he was struggling to find his way back home” Perona explained. You snickered at Zoro’s awful sense of direction, which was a widely known thing throughout the school.

“Then Mihawk wanted to be a party pooper…” Perona grumbled. Perona was closely related to Mihawk. He was basically her father.

“Right, sounds pretty lame of him” You replied. Perona shrugged and fondled with her bright, pink locks.

“I had fun with Zoro anyway, he’s rather cute” She winked. All you could do was roll your eyes with a smirk.

More students began to flood in and fill in the isolated seats. The room went silent as the teacher began to talk on and on about whatever lesson involved Physics.

You scribbled necessary notes on your notebook. You were a little scholar, but you didn’t like it. You despised school and the tsunami level stress it accompanied with it. The room was blessed by the loud school bell saying it was time to transition.

Perona rose her body and sighed in relief.

“(F/N), do you want to go to a bakery someday after school? A new one just opened and I think you’ll love it!” She gleemed. You packed your notebooks away in your back pack, raising your body from the seat.

“Uh, sure” You shrugged. “Hopefully I’m not backed up on homework”

You received an eye roll from Perona.

“You’re never backed up…” Perona giggled, walking away from you.

You sighed and followed behind her to exit the now empty classroom. You peered over your shoulders to expect to see a tall, orange jock but nothing. You exhaled in relief.

“Ace must be caught up doing whatever…” You mumbled.

You felt your shoulder crash into a body, fumbling your balance but not toppling over. Sure the traffic was pretty heavy but not that heavy to completely shove someone. You glared at the culprit only to receive one back. It was taller, raven haired boy. The interaction was so quick that you barely caught a glimpse of him besides his agitated expression.

“Watch it” He snarled.

His remark made you growl in her chest. You didn’t hesitate to jerk her body the other way to keep it moving. ‘What an asshole…’ You thought.

Your morning had only just started and it was nuisance upon nuisance non stop. Annoying teachers, classmates and people walking too slow in the hallways. Soon enough, your more cheerful personality began to seep through your grouchy, morning demeanor. It was basically whiplash.

The afternoon crept which meant lunchtime was starting to begin. You stood by your locker to grab your home-prepped lunch your mother lovingly packed. Kumi usually sat with the brothers for lunch, but considering Ace and Luffy both have different groups besides their own, you just sat with Sabo instead most of the time.

“(F/N)! (F/N)!”

A voice called behind. You snapped your head to the person only to see a red shirt boy sprinting straight toward you. To your surprise, the blonde wasn’t there.

“Luffy?”

“Ace is about to get into a fight in the cafeteria!” Luffy panicked, which was unusual because Luffy is always down for a fight. You’d think he’d jump in by now considering it was his brother.

Your eyes widened at the news. Ace was so well liked, no one would dare to pick a fight with such a charismatic guy. You opened your mouth to at least try to muster up a sentence, but Luffy was impatient.

With a tight grab on your wrist, you were yanked towards the cafeteria with maximum speed. You hadn’t realized how fast Luffy was until now…

“Luffy! Wait a sec-!”

Luffy bursted through the doors that revealed a crowd circling around. You could faintly see a bright, orange cowboy hat through the crowd of nosy people. Luffy pulled you to the front of the crowd.

Ace stood in front of a random student proudly. His expression was serious. It was foreign for you to see such a fiery expression on his face. The random student watched him with petrified eyes.

The other guy, which seemingly started the fight from the beginning, had red hair and a punk-like aesthetic. He was known as Eustass Kid, who was also fairly popular. Kid was somewhat a hotheaded guy who thinks everyone is out for his throat. You were barely surprised.

“Leave the guy alone, Kid” Ace said. His tone seemed annoyed, as if this wasn’t the first time he stated this.

Kid stepped forward to Ace intimidatingly, but Ace didn’t flinch. He didn’t move a single millimeter. He just glared up at the pink guy with eyes ready to punch.

“Don’t make me punch you to the ground, “Fire Fist…” “ Kid mocked. Ace didn’t say a word, just a menacing glare.

The cafeteria was silent. So silent you could hear a pin drop and it’d echo. Some students whispered amongst each other, and some whipped out their cameras to record the tussle. You hesitated on doing something, it’d be embarrassing to get in the middle of this.

Luffy, on the other hand, was itching for a fight but to your surprise he stayed in the sidelines. You assumed that he received a scolding from Ace to pipe down. Luffy would only cause more trouble.

“Seriously, Ace you don’t-“

“Shut up!” Kid spat.

The kid behind Ace jolted at Kid’s hoarse voice in terror. Ace finally shoved Kid away after his sinister demeanor. The crowd gasped.

“Piss off! They didn’t do anything to you!”

Ace had his fists clenched while Kid smiled devilishly. He cracked his fingers and rose his arm only to contact his big fist into Ace’s face. He grunted, stumbling on his body from the impact.

The crowd roared in shock, Luffy just tensed up at the sight of his brother getting decked in his face. You inhaled sharply.

Ace smirked and rubbed his face. He tanked it like a pro, only a red mark on his cheek. Ace stretched his arms while letting out a hearty chuckle.

“Now you just gave me a reason to kick your ass”

In a blink of an eye, Ace reciprocated Kid’s kind gesture which caused an ongoing fight between the two boys. You jolted your body to try to pull Ace off of Kid but felt a lingering hand grip her arm.

“I got yelled at, what makes you think you won’t” Luffy grumbled. Your assumption was right, and you could only sigh in defeat. The crowd roared and cheered the two boys on, mostly them going for Ace. You could clearly see the levels of popularity they both carried.

“Enough!”

Finally, a teacher ran through the absurd crowd to pull off Ace and Kid from nearly killing each other. You made direct eye contact while blood was spilling out of Ace’s nose, but he has a prideful smile on his face. Meanwhile with Kid, he looked livid. He wasn’t ready to conclude the fight.

Teachers proceeded to push the students away and to get back to their regularly scheduled lunch wave, but you protested.

“Ace!”

You called out and broke through the wall of teachers. You stumbled in front of him, analyzing his injuries. It wasn’t anything serious, but that bloody nose was concerning.

“I totally won that…” Ace grunted, a smile still plastered on his face. You had the urge to slap sense into his dense brain but couldn’t due to obvious circumstances.

“Right, and you’re totally injured” You raised a brow. Ace was being apprehended by a staff member until another one pulled Kid away, who was cursing at Ace with a huge chest.

“You have to go, girl” A teacher glared. You glared back and grabbed Ace’s hand.

“Can I take my idiot friend to the nurses office first? Look at his nose!” You spat only to receive a shake of the head. They pulled you aside to see Ace get escorted away from the cafeteria.

You snapped your head to whoever was trying to escort you away from the middle of the cafeteria. The irritation from the staff was about to leach onto whoever grabbed you but you instantly calmed down when you were met with orange locks.

“Stupid teachers…” Nami grumbled under her breath.

You and Nami weren’t close, nothing compared to you and Ace, but still nice friends either way. You were slightly fond of Luffy’s small group. They’d often nickname themselves ‘The Strawhats’.

“Well he’s definitely getting suspended for some time” After Nami brought you to her table, they all adjusted in their chairs. They all had food sitting in front of them.

You sat in an empty space in between the long nosed kid and muscle, blue haired jock. Franky greeted you with a loud laugh while Usopp was much calmer.

You had felt a hand rest on the back of her chair, causing you to turn to finally see Sabo. Sabo had an amused expression while Luffy looked through the roof beside him.

“What even happened?” You finally asked. Nami rested her cheek on her palm and shrugged.

“I had just arrived when the fight sprouted”

Sabo sighed and rubbed the back of his neck.

“Ace was trying to protect that student” He finally replied. Everyone grew silent to listen to Sabo explain.

“Apparently Kid was bothering them and Ace decided to intervene. The whole ordeal happened in a span of a few minutes though” Sabo explained. His tone seemed tired, either he was exhausted from scrambling his brothers together or because of the frequent fame overshadowing him.

“Not surprised…” You exhaled.

“He sure does know how to cause a crowd” The moss haired guy stretched his body to seemingly take a nap in the middle of the lunch wave. The blonde that sat next to him looked agitated.

“Say, why are you and Ace so close?” Nami asked you with a smile, you perked your head up at the sudden question.

“Well, he’s been there ever since I moved here. I guess I was just glued to him” You tapped your nails on the table. You watched Nami nod.

“When I see Kid, I’m gonna punch his red face!” Luffy huffed, his clenched fists on his chest. He received a small slap on his head by Sabo.

“No, you’re not… Garp already has to deal with one of you idiots, don’t make it worse” Sabo lectured. Luffy’s puffed cheeks and puffed up anger soon deflated like a sad party balloon.

“Yeah, Luffy,” Usopp folded his arms. “And you’ll probably drag us down the hole with it” He added.

Luffy tussled back and fourth with his group as to why he shouldn’t take matters into his own hands and you’d listen. You couldn’t lie, the scenery was quite amusing. Your phone buzzed, causing you to jolt.

Ace - 12:45 PM

in the nurses office lol! probably gonna get my ass scorched at home

You giggled humorously at the message and decided to pay the fire boy a visit before he’s kicked off on an early vacation. You abruptly got up and excused yourself.

“I’ll see you guys in a bit, just have to do something” You announced. You received a mixture of goodbyes and okays as you turned your body away from the group. You could faintly hear their voices bicker and chatter from behind.

The hallways were quiet, considering the school was tucked inside the cafeteria eating their hearts away. It wasn’t a long walk to the nurses office, so you were there before you knew it.

“Any visitors allowed?” You asked the secondary nurse in charge with a smile. The nurse sighed in defeat.

“Only for a short moment…” The nurse swung the door open to let you waltz inside.

The office was quite spacious, three resting rooms and their own bathroom. You’d questioned why they would have such a big nurses office.

“I assume you’re here for the boy?” The nurse asked.

After you nodded in agreement, she pointed to one of the three rooms with a blue ballpoint pen. Her face looked unamused and you immediately thought that she assumed you two were dating.

“(F/N)!” Ace said in a tired, hoarse voice. He had an ice pack on his head and a white strip along his nose. His right eye was slightly purple and his cheek was bruised. You thought this guy was beaten to a pulp.

“God, Ace…” You murmured as you approached the injured boy. He just chuckled as if nothing is happening.

“Don’t worry about me, worry about the other guy” He joked, but you just rolled your eyes and got a better look at his injuries.

“How long will you be away?” You asked with folded arms. Ace sighed.

“About a week”

“A week!?”

Ace shushed you after a hearty chuckle. You cupped your mouth in embarrassment, not realizing your pitched volume. You had received a slightly agitated look from the nurse outside.

“Yes, a week” Ace confirmed. You felt your heart sting. How were you going to feel annoyed every morning now?

“Don’t be a pest at home” You giggled.

“I’m deathly offended” Ace joked. “That’s actually my runt little brother who’s a pest” He referred to the scruffy boy he called Luffy.

“He told me you yelled at him before I arrived…” You began. You watched him scoff and roll his eyes.

“Yeah, I did”

“Why?”

“Because I don’t want the kid to get in the same boat as me” Ace explained. He brought his feet up on the bed and rested his toned arms on his knees.

“It was my fight anyway, Luffy would’ve made things worse for himself” Ace continued. “Th’boy already goes through enough trouble…”

Ace looked sympathetic towards him. Deep down, he was a kind hearted brother that’d do anything to protect both of his loved ones. Despite his overbearing popularity, he kept the ones that truly mattered under his wing closely. You admired that.

“He’s pretty riled up now” You said with a grin. Ace laughed.

“Don’t doubt it!” He adjusted his ice pack. “Don’t let him do anything stupid though”

“I won’t-“

BAM!!

The nurse shrieked as a ball of pent up anger in a red shirt bursted through the doors with a childish laugh. You snapped your head out the glass window to see what catastrophe happened.

“Ace! Where are you?”

His scruffy voice echoed throughout the room. All you could hear was the nurse scolding at the boy, followed by a ‘Im sorry’ even though he was cheerfully laughing. Sabo seemed like he was chasing after the boy for hours, as he came inside breathing heavily.

“Luffy!” Sabo scolded angrily.

“You were saying?” Ace cooed up at you, your cheeks filled with embarrassment. It was embarrassing for you to even be friends with a ball of energy like Luffy.

Shortly afterwards, they both came in to talk to Ace. Sabo was pleased to see you there, keeping Ace company. Luffy cried to Ace about how he wanted to fight Kid to avenge him but Ace objected

“C’mon! I swear I’ll kick his ass!”

“I said no, moron! For once, use your brain!”

“I am! I’m using my brain by thinking about kicking Kids ass!”

“Luffy, I’m gonna kill you myself!”

Their tussle soon muffled out when you realized lunch was starting to end and their next set of classes were about to begin. You hugged Sabo goodbye, not wanting to interrupt whatever tough brotherly love Ace was giving Luffy.

Once you had exited the room, you crashed your head into a taller chest. Judging by his scent, this was a guy. Speaking of which, his scent was awfully familiar.

“Prick…” You grumbled as you pulled away to examine whoever rudely crashed into you. The raven hair. It was familiar.

“You again? Do you ever watch where you’re going?”

You could finally catch whoever this was that was progressively getting on each individual nerve on your body. He glared down at you with dark circles on his eyes.

“Can say the same for you, asshole…” You mumbled. All you could hear was the amused chuckle that came from his chest.

“Grow a few inches before trying me, sweetheart” With that, he shoved passed her and talked to the nurse. The nurses sour demeanor shifted as soon as the boy approached her. It seemed like that was her assistant, which was odd considering he was also a student.

You felt her eye twitch at his remark and was ready to be the second fight of the day but you choked back. You exhaled and just kept walking.

His rude statement echoed inside your brain. ‘How could he say it with such finesse? He said it in such a soothing tone, you’d forget he was even being a prick in the first place!’ You thought.

You stopped in your tracks for a moment.

“Did he have tattoos…?”

so I did start college (British A Levels) this September and I've been rotating the idea of a OP (British) college AU in my head for like a week now.. yes its been done probably one billion million times but I have Thoughts okay

- Nami being picked up from a street gang and going from a career making maps for heists to pursuing cartography at A level

- Zoro doing some type of sports studies and attending a fencing club

- Sanji being forced to do business studies, economics and politics like the rest of his siblings before picking up an apprenticeship at the Baratie

- Chopper being a little kid who's so smart he came to college with a scholarship for medicine at the age of 13 - didn't even attend highschool and grew up in the mountains with Kureha

- Brook haunting the music room and being a famous musician who used to work at the college before he died

- Law taking medicine but also marine biology with the rest of the Heart Pirates

- Cora being an ex-mafioso that now teaches law

- Perona doing a textiles apprenticeship with Moria

- Yamato being a PE gym bro

Is there an au where Zoro, Nami and Ussop all went to the same orphanage and met there and became family there? No? Now there is.

It was not a bad orphanage per se, poor but run by good people in a good town. The adults around would try to take at least one kid to their houses regularly to teach them stuff, give them hobbies, help them integrate with the community... Instead of an orphanage, it was more of a big house for kids to stay and eat because their families were too poor or the adults responsible for them were in bad condition.

That's how Zoro would spend so much time at Koushirou's dojo, why Nami and Nojiko would practically live with Bell-Mere. It's also why Ussop was there, 'cause his mom was sick and she was making sure he had a place— a family to stay with after she was gone.

Which means that Zoro, Nami and Ussop were together to witness Kuina, Bell-mere and Ussop's mom deaths. That's how Nami and Ussop took to call Zoro big brother and started to rely on him to fight their bullies or mean people. Nami would be the one sent to take Zoro home when it was time to eat dinner. Ussop was the one who would lie to cover their shenanigans.

And then they met Luffy.

They met him in the summer. He was there to attend high school with them. It was a summer full of misadventures that united them. Luffy was their best friend, all of them. Luffy had his own family they learned, so it'd feel wrong to call him brother. Nami and Ussop stopped calling Zoro big bro because they were ashamed as teens, but it'd come back whenever they were truly scared.

They all had their reasons for leaving the town.

Nami was secretly reuniting money to help the town and the orphanage get rid of the local mafia. Zoro wanted to compete in bigger tournaments to reach his dream of being the best kendo fighter out there. Ussop wanted to travel the world and become a brave adventurer like his dad. Maybe for the sake of the au, let's say that "pirates" are less about the sea and more about adventurers finding treasures. So much is the same as in the manga, I think that way it's better.

On the other hand, Sanji, Chopper, Kaya, Vivi and Robin all went to the same prestigious middle and high school.

Which was the place rich problem children or very talented (genius) middle class people got sent to. If you were a rich orphan, if you were considered a burden by your rich parents, if someone wanted to protect you from the very law or even criminal organizations, if you were smart beyond your age but didn't have the money, that's where you went.

Kaya and Chopper met first because they took the same "future medical school" classes. Robin, Vivi and Sanji were all under a sort of protection program. Robin's mom, Sanji's mom and Vivi's dad make the necessary arrangements for them to be accepted. The benefit? No one could touch them until they were out of high school and then, they would be old enough to protect themselves.

Of course Chopper is years younger in this au and Robin is way older, but that's justified under the pretenses that Chopper is a medical prodigy and Robin got rescued when she was already older, so to give her some more time they enrolled her in the very first grade they could. It helped that all the others have an assigned tutor based on their personal skills: Kureha, Igaram, Zeff, for example. Robin sort of learned for everyone she could and took just a few courses at the time, learning as much as she could. That made her advance kinda slower than the rest, but prepared her way more.

They met for lunch and study sessions, sticking together because the others rejected them for being too weird. The order in sibling consideration became Robin > Kaya > Sanji > Vivi > Chopper. Here Sanji is a hopeless fool for romance but not a pervert and he complains a lot about the "sibling system". Everyone knows it must have something to do with his past, so they quickly "kick him out" of it. They still consider him their sibling, but they won't mention it anyway. In return, Sanji accepts in silence that they see him as a brother, thankful they don't call him that.

Three very smart and influential sisters, their adopted genius little brother and the way they all befriended. Perfect balance.

Luffy, Zoro, Nami and Ussop graduated two years before the others, because their fancy school was the type to make them egress with a basic college level. Team small town then moved to the big city and rented an apartment close to fancy school by total accident. BOOM worlds collapse together.

Au where Law and Cora got away and ran to the east blue and went into hiding and this led to Doflamingo going to hunt them down and then he found Nami's island and found out about Nami and made a deal with Arlong that he (Doffy would keep the marines away from this part of the east blue and Doffy gets to take Nami every other week or something like that) Doflamingo claims to Dressora that Nami is his adopted daughter and while he does treat her like a princess. Hes basically a smother parent and has her on 24/7 supervision. Nami when she was about 17ish ran away and was heading back to her island when she meet Luffy and Zoro. She is terrified of Doflamingo finding her and wears a mask when they're in public. When they meet Law whos with Cora, Cora quickly puts two and two together and is beyond pissed at his brother. Luffy when he finds out almost kills Doffy

I'd imagine she managed to sneak out a couple of times when she was little, but then when he found out he became more strict. She enjoys the riches and is still money obsessed, but no amount of money could make her sell her freedom. I feel like that would make her want to help Vivi even more, because she'd know what it feels like to feel like a prisoner in her own country.

Her and Law having escaped from Doflamingo kinda gives me that other ask vibes of them being siblings.

Not gonna lie, while reading this I couldn't help but remember how he treated his underlings/female employees and to be honest I think he'd probably be the same way with Nami...

Also yes, Luffy would absolutely kick his ass. If one piece wasn't so censored, he'd straight-up kill him.

hello!!

ever since reading 'Ace of Spades' by mihawkuri on ao3, i've wanted to write a modern harem au myself! i've been struggling with certain aspects of it however, as i intend this to be more for the people than for my own personal fantasies, so i thought i might ask for some advice:

first off, i'm going for an f!reader due to smut scenes in later chapters. i think i will include most major male characters as love interests (besides any dilfs, they'll get their time later...) my current list is as follows;

luffy

zoro

sanji

nami

vivi

yamato

law

kidd

ace

sabo

katakuri (he and his siblings will be aged down for college purposes)

rob lucci

some characters are not included on this list and will be only 'slight' love interests, mostly unrequited.

i'm not sure if i'll have an endgame or separate 'endings' for each (not trying to turn this into a 2013 wattpad fic...), but i fear the length may be astronomical as a result (looking at 'Ace of Spades' fills me with a great fear.)

if anyone has any characters they'd like to add or general thoughts to share (not plot ideas), i'd love to hear them!

ohh now i HAVE to hear more about that charlotte!sanji au. so much potential!! crippled hands, big brother katakuri (what about brulee and pudding btw?), dead judge (as he should be >:D)- do the crew blame katakuri for sanjis hands at first? i mean if a feared big mom pirate barged on my ship with my kidnapped crewmate missing an appendage or two, i might jump to a conclusion or two. and even if sanji forgives katakuri, i feel like some of his crewmates might not be so quick to do so, at least until they see how much he genuinely cares about sanji. oh and sanji must make incredible donuts :DD

Sanji saved his hands, but barely. Not used to using armament on the upper half of his body. Katakuri, who just yote a very injured Sanji onto the Sunny and then just fucking jumped on as well? Luffy probably punches immediately and Katakuri is just like "GET US OUT OF HERE!"

Brulee probably encouraged this. Being the other sibling closest to Katakuri he probably brought this to them and Pudding? Fuck Pudding in this instance. As much as Katakuri wants to take care of his baby sister. Sanji might lose his hands and that's his biggest priority and Brulee is going to distract Big Mom and give them enough time to escape and is also going to explain to Pudding, who doesn't even really remember Sanji from before Katakuri took him, that Sanji was not trying to break her heart but fulfill his dream. Pudding understands but she's angry.

Also when the crew sees Katakuri just spear Judge with his trident mid shit talk? Luffy is confused, very confused. Chopper is fussing over Sanji who has kind of sort of calmed down, he's not screaming any more and is looking at Katakuri's bloody trident like he just did the unthinkable.

"It was deserved." Katakuri says. "Mama probably deserves it as well." And Sanji just nods as Chopper works on him.

"So who are you?" Nami asks.

"I'm Charlotte Katakuri, defected Sweet Commander of the Big Mom Pirates." Katakuri answers.

"He's basically my oldest brother." Sanji murmurs as the blood loss gets to him. Everyone starts freaking out about that instead of the dead king now.

In Wano everyone is looking at Sanji's bandaged arms and hands and the twenty foot tall mochi man next to him and before Sanji can even say anything Zoro is attacking Katakuri with Robin. Katakuri fends them off easily since he can see into the future by a few moments and Nami yells at them both to stop and that he's part of the reason Sanji is back with the crew and not dead.

"And he killed Sanji's dad." Luffy says helpfully.

"He killed the king of Germa?" Franky asks.

"Yeah, speared through the gut with his trident." Chopper nods.

"I could feel my heart pounding the entire time, except I don't have one 'cause I'm dead! Yohoho! Skull joke!" Brook says.

"Thank you for taking care of my little brother in my stead." Katakuri bows to the Strawhat crew.

"What the fuck, Black Leg?" Law asks as he rooms and scans his arms.

"Don't worry about it, he's on our side. I should probably make some donuts soon." Sanji shrugs.

"You do make the best." Katakuri nods.

Law is the old man (i don't remember anyone's names, sorry) and Luffy is the kid (they are both about the same age in the fic though).

Law leaves to go fulfill his promise to Corazon to travel together and Luffy stows away because he smells adventure.

Zoro is the bird (I just remember that one scene where the kid is like "I found the bilge snipe! And then the old guy goes what in the hell is that giant murder bird. Kinda reminds me of how Luffy recruited zoro in canon lol).

Judge is the evil old man wanting to capture the bird.

Sanji is Doug (the dog) the failed experiment. and the other dogs are his siblings. (Theyre dogs in the movie but they'd be human in this au)

I'm sure I could make up roles for the other strawhats too. Like Nami could just already live there and work as their guide
