It might sound trite given the current world infection growing, but when was the last time you laughed? Like, straight-up-belly-guffawed-and-almost-peed-your-pants laughed?

The internet is an absurd place. But one thing it can get right on occasion is the amount of funny shit you can find. In this time of impending doom, I find I am turning to the art of the joke more and more to help soften the blow of modern times. Some of my favorites this week:

Comedians Performers I've been YouTube'ing / following on Instagram for laughs include Whitney Cummings, Jen Kirkman, Amy Miller, and Fortune Feimster. (And yes, this list being 'female' heavy just means they're funny as fuck and I like 'em.)

During a Coronavirus meeting, a mayor excused himself to use the restroom but forgot to turn off microphone. Farts are never not funny. Especially for a full minute.

There was someone’s entire job to remove CGI buttholes that had been inserted a few months before. Which means that, somewhere out there, there exists a butthole cut of “Cats.”

But you don’t have to always seek out a professional comedian to get your laugh on (and if you do, throw ‘em some cash and buy merch). I’ve been finding some beautiful solace knowing my co-workers, who are also chained to laptops working feverishly, have hit delirium and are delivering some gems in meetings. This week alone, the business venture of Sock Hands was developed: a low budget way to moisturize your hands after washing them so damn much. Just lather up coconut oil on them digits and insert them into the softest socks you can find. Total bedroom killer upper!

In any case, I have found the best laughing I’ve done this week is with my husband. We already enjoy making up inane songs about our cats and have a million inside jokes. But also, sometimes getting pretty ripped and creating new video game names like Fortitoot 2: Strong Winds really can bring a couple together. Find a friend and let the good times roll.

It has been hard to smile, let alone stop and think about anything being funny this week - I would be lying if I said it was easy or convenient. But it soothes me to know that I still have a sense of humor buried underneath all my dark, practical sense of self.
