Ok, I think I’ve figured it out. Yes, all of you were right :) No, it is not Anastasia Nikolaevna: it’s Countess Anastasia Hendrikova. But, I believe that Anastasia is in this photo.

First, comparing the profiles of Hendrikova and the woman in the photo: pretty much identical. Even the eyebrows are the same, but it’s not Anastasia Nikolaevna.

However, Anastasia seems to be in the photo as well.

Alexei and Olga on their way to Yekaterinburg

In this picture, we see Olga's back on the left, Tatiana look at the camera and the Countess Anastasia Hedrikova, not the Grand Duchess Anastasia. You can know that from her side face , that she is not the Duchess.

I think Anastasia is the photographer.

i turn 24 today. To celebrate, I made this comic to be a spiritual successor to lead balloon, a comic in which I talked about the darkest period of my life so far.

A lot has changed since my 23rd birthday and this one. My priorities have shifted a lot, in ways that I think are mostly good. But i think the best part about today is that suicide has gone back to being a far away notion. I'm really lucky, and I'm grateful for that.

the infamous 'last sighting of a barbary lion in the wild' photo taken by marcelin flandrin (1925) haunts me to my core. there's something so achingly poetic about it.
