"Lancelot du Loc." The tone of Octavius' voice was gravelly with equal measure of exhaustion and annoyance. The man had all but made a show of taking his clothes off and was now choosing to refuse to get in the bed? Octavius was having none of it. Tavi raised an eyebrow. "If I'm so old then it's probably best you leave me here in this hospice bed and take that vacation without me." His dark hazel gaze moved across the empty expanse of his bed and back to Lance, dragging his tongue across his lips. The situation unnerved Octavius just a little. Sure, it had been a while since he'd been with anyone, longer still since he'd been with a man, but this was someone he actually cared about. It was messy and Tavi didn't do complicated. Still, there he was, one raspy command in his native tongue, "Ven aquí y bésame!"

“C’mon, Lance, you can’t be serious,” Arthur rolled his eyes. He had a stack of chicken feed he’d picked up from the market in his arms and aching feet from his trip into town and with the knowledge that he had just as long of a trek all the way back home. They’d passed by a sword in a stone -- the infamous sword in the stone, the one that countless people had tried - and failed - to free. “Everyone who’s tried to free that has been taller, smarter, or stronger than me. Or some combination of all three. What’s the point?” Arthur? King? It was an impossibility, he was no one’s son, another orphaned kid without a bed to call his own. “Between the two of us, I think you’re the likely candidate,” He heaved as he rested the chicken feed on the ground. “Why don’t you go ahead and try? Maybe you’ll even have people calling you your majesty by the end of the day.”

THE BASICS::

Occupation - Personal bodyguard, head of Roundtable Security Company 

TRAITS::

Stoic -  Lancelot is someone who rarely lets things get to him, preferring to keep a level head. The things he deals with on a daily basis, the people he protects, cannot be left to their own devices. Each detail must be memorized, planned, and drawn out to the umpteenth degree.

Level-headed -  There’s something about his rank that makes people see the power that it holds. They don’t see the mental stability that it takes to uphold it. There is a certain levity to his job that makes his moods as steady as a rock, immovable and impenetrable.

Loyal -  The thing that most people who work with him learn quite quickly is that Lancelot is chivalrous and loyal to a fault, almost to a point where it could be considered obsession. The loyal little guard dog, they call him. He lets them, recognizes that they are not wrong. In a way, he embraces it, though it can become tiresome.

BACKSTORY::

If you asked Lance to tell you about his life before the age of ten, he wouldn’t be able to. He simply doesn’t remember it. Before coming to live with his adoptive mother, Viviene, on a reserve in Alaska, the boy knows nothing. Specialists were called, therapists and psychiatrists consulted, but there was a memory wall and it was as thick and as strong as steel plating. It didn’t bother Lancelot any, not really. Obviously, the life he’d lived was not one he needed to remember if there was that large of a disconnect. 

He and his mother lived a quiet life, the boy and, much later, young man taciturn and quiet. Lance was loyal, hard-working, and he found himself with an affinity for watching over the people around him, particularly his mother. Viviene was alone before him, her husband leaving one day and never returning. She’d mourned him but that was life, she supposed, and it was one of the many difficult lessons she passed on to her son. 

When he came of age, Lancelot left home and began to wander, attempting to find his place in the world. Somehow, it became what he’d always done, protecting people. At first, it was merely odd jobs, helping out a company executive here and there or, eventually, senators and Congressmen and women. Lance became well known across the country and, as a result, Roundtable Security was born. 

He runs the company at top dollar, hiring the best and expecting that in return from his employees. They are meant to be clean-cut and spit-shined but he does not care whether you’re an ex-Marine or a person looking to do good in the community. As long as you fit the bill, pull your weight, and know-how to hold your own, Lancelot du Loc can be counted to have your back.

WANTED PLOTS:: 

Mister President - gOD SOMEONE PLEASE GIVE ME AN OLYMPUS HAS FALLEN SCENARIO where Lance is protecting the president (who he can totally be in love with it’s fineeeee) and the First Lady (who he probably also likes bc duh why wouldn’t you???) and has to get them somewhere safe. I’m talking ANGST and PAIN and some shootouts because yEP that’s his job. Oh, and Feelings. Those too. 

         THAT BEING SAID: I would be MORE THAN HAPPY to adjust this to ANY bodyguard scenario

Bossman - Let Lance be someone your muse works with, whether that’s someone he butts heads with but keeps around or someone who he admires greatly for their work. This can take shape in a variety of ways and I am more than happy to accommodate them. Please feel free to message me with any ideas you may or may not have!

Memory Wipe -Your muse can be an old friend of Lance’s from his time in Alaska or they can be someone with a connection to his past that he’s only just now beginning to piece together. He never really wanted to know about what happened to him growing up, but your muse’s appearance in his life might just make him rethink that.

😂😂😂 Justice for Lancelot. He got done dirty by the Grail. The funniest part too is after he is rejected by the grail, he vows to become a better man and stop his adulterous ways… pretty much up until he reunites with Guinevere and immediately goes back to sleeping with her. Imagine being told off by God and then immediately ignoring God’s advice.

Poor Gawain also gets done dirty in the Grail Quest. He never actually reaches the Grail but he just keeps going places where people keep telling his what a sinful loser he is and how he’ll never get the grail. He did also kill a bunch of his fellows knights of the round table (I think it’s mentioned as 18 one time) though, so maybe the people had a point.

So I got my mom to watch Merlin with me, and we got to "Lancelot du Loc" She wondered why I left the room for the episode, thinking it couldn't possibly be that bad.

A handful of people have pointed out that in the French dub of Trollhunters Barbara’s surname is Du Lac/Du Loc which means “of the lake” and that in the Arthurian legends there are Lancelot du Lac and Lady du Lac.

I’ve found one of the Arthurian books which state that Lancelot was the adopted son of the Lady of the Lake who found him as a baby.
