Trafalgar Law -

Normally he sleeps pretty well, and Law is one of those people that understand the importance of getting a healthy amount of rest and sleep however he doesn’t always abide by those guidelines himself (he’s a terrible hypocrite about calling others out on it though)

Law was a deep sleeper turned light sleeper after the eradication of his country and his years with the Doflamingo family. Only during those three years he spent with Wolf, Shachi, Penguin, and Bepo did he begin sleeping deeper. With his current crew the deepness of his sleep depends on his mental state and how consistent his plan for revenge has been on his mind.

He doesn’t get nightmares randomly, at least not after a while has passed since the triggering incident. If they get brought up and he thinks about them during the day then he gets a nightmare.

Has vivid nightmares but only mellow, indistinct dreams

Wakes up really easily, especially when he’s sleeping in places that are foreign to him (The Thousand Sunny, Zou, the Doflamingo Family)

Sleeps on the more quiet side. Lightly snores if he’s extra tired or comfortable (when he was a kid Lami would always bring up the fact he snores).

Either sleeps like vampire in a coffin or sleeps like in a fetal position. He sleeps with about two blankets regularly but is also the type to like it cold when he sleeps (or, if he had a lover, be reliant on their body heat during the night)

Also sleeps in more guarded/unorthodox sleeping positions in foreign places (remember that one episode when he was sleeping with one leg over the other sitting down on a bench holding his sword on the Thousand Sunny before they fought the pet master guy? Cuz I do)

Has taken naps before on Bepo, they never talk about it. It just happens (Bepo loves it more than Law does)

He hasn’t admitted it to himself but Law is one of those people that sleep better with someone else. Also the reason why Law snores in his sleep every time he sleeps on Bepo (yk how sometimes ppl can never sleep in a room as another when spending the night? Laws like the opposite if that makes sense)

X ‘Diez’ Drake -

The most sleep he’s ever gotten consistently is probably 7 hours. When he was first taken in by the Marines, his body had a full adjusting and healing period and he was sleeping for at least 11 hours. During his time with his father’s crew he would struggle to get maybe even 6 hours of sleep.

He used to not really get dreams as a kid and late teenager, only nightmares but in his adult years he has lots of dreams. His dreams are usually comical and confusing to him when he tries to remember bits and pieces of it in the morning.

Still occasionally gets a nightmare but has developed a more quick and healthy way of calming down and going back to sleep. Used to panic terribly during his first few years with the Navy after getting a nightmare

It’s taken him a while, but now he sleeps like a passed out drunk ykwim? Like sometimes he’ll just be leg sprawled apart, mouth open with drool seeping out of the corner, hair covering his eyes.

He gets terrible bed head. Honestly sometimes his hair wakes up perfectly in his little slicked Mohawk or whatever he has going on and he never tells anyone he woke up like this instead of carefully prepping his hair

He went through a period where he was paranoid he was a sleep talker (he didn’t want to disclose anything when under cover)

Spoiler alert he actually is a sleep talker!! But instead of actually talking he makes little grunts and whistle sounds almost like an animal Lmaoo. Other than the noises he’s a quiet sleeper though

He gets his best sleep when he’s alone in a quiet setting with almost no stimulation happening. He likes it warm, with thick blankets atop of him securing him to the bed, with the blinds closed with no one else. He hated sleeping in the barracks as a new soldier, it wasn’t too different from how he used to be living and sleeping and that was sort of why he hated it

He used to hate the eerie sound of the waves against the ship but now they’re comforting

Black Leg Sanji -

Sanji on average gets 5 hours of sleep. He honestly can go off of less (germa genes) but he’s built an internal alarm clock from his time at the Baratie. He also has lots of duties that take him away from sleeping such as prepping the food too

He almost always goes to sleep after the ladies of the crew do, it makes him feel more assured of himself that they’re actively resting (firm believer that women need beauty sleep)

He sleeps terribly if we’re being totally honest here. He gets nightmares weekly about Germa and his starving on a rock experience with Zeff. He goes through cycles where it’ll get better for a couple weeks, something triggers him, and it’s terrible for a couple weeks if not months

When he gets nightmares he twitches alot, shifts on his sides, and starts crying. Sometimes he doesn’t wake up from his nightmares though (these nights whoever was on night watch duty always makes sure to check on Sanji the day after).

Chopper and Usopp are generally the only guys that wake Sanji if they notice this is happening while Brook, Zoro, and Franky hover over him for a minute to make sure he’s safe and watches over him the next day or so (Franky calls it a bro thing)

(Luffy never notices/is always asleep but somehow picks up on if Sanji is having a sensitive day or not)

With my whole heart and soul I think that if Sanji had someone to sleep with his nightmares would dramatically decrease and he would develop more healthier sleeping habits. Sanji responds to physical touch so if he had someone there to shush him and stroke his hair and cradle him when he gets like this I think he would benefit from it because not only would it help him feel safe it also makes him feel loved and Sanji’s a guy that needs love in his life

When he wakes himself up with a nightmare he almost always goes to the kitchen. He doesn’t like smoking in there normally but he will and start to prepare breakfast for the crew.

Sanji sleep talks a fair bit imo. I couldn’t tell you what he says though

Other than feeling another person with him, Sanji sleeps best in the warmth where he could still smell the salt of the sea

Basil Hawkins -

(Gotta be honest idrk know the guy too well)

I feel like he either sleeps like 10 hours a night or almost never sleeps. Or at least, his crew has never caught him sleeping

Doesn’t make noise when he sleeps. He’s probably capable of sleeping just about anywhere if he tries hard enough but he doesn’t

Hawkins loves staying up late into the night so I could see his prime sleeping time being from 4am - 9am ish.

I imagine that he either gets very vivid dreams because of his fate telling cards, practice of mystic arts or whatever, and devil fruit ability OR it’s just black fuzz the entire time

I feel like Hawkins would prefer to sleep in colder environments with his limbs more exposed to the cold air

Hmm what else. I could see him doing something with his hair to keep it up at night but not in an overly classy way, just something a step up from what a normal pirate would do yk

Love your posts about Law ❤️. Talking about his love life: What do you think which type of partner would match best with him? Someone who takes care of him (kinda like Cora) or so he can take care of (like he does with his crew)?

i think law would love a good mix of both. he doesn't like feeling like a burden, so being taken care of would make him stress out about how to repay his partner; however, he's also a control freak, so being with someone that depends on him to the extent his crew does would drive him crazy lol

i personally ship him with sabo! it's definitely a rarepair (even though it's been gaining traction lately), but hear me out.

they would both take care of each other equally. they're both older brothers, so protecting others is something innately present in their behavior. their nurturing nature is ever-present, even when they "lose" their older brother role: law because of lami's passing, sabo because of losing his memories. after these traumatic events, they both take the role of the nurtured: cora starts taking care of law, while the members of the revolutionary army tend to sabo. and again, after a certain amount of time, they both return to their original older brother roles: law with the heart pirates, sabo when he reunites with luffy. this is the reason why i think they would both take care of each other equally, but not in an excessive way; they know how it feels to be on both ends of the spectrum. in fact, both law and sabo are pretty independent; they don't like having someone's constant attention on them, and just generally prefer to do their own thing, so personal space wouldn't be an issue to either of them. they'd know how to balance time together and time apart perfectly.

they share a lot of other similarities, (this post explains them all perfectly), but they're also different enough to make their dynamic interesting: sabo is very intense and impulsive, while law is very stoic, even though he obviously surrounds himself with very cheerful and carefree people. all in all, i think law would benefit a lot from sabo's presence in his life.

After killing Rosinante (Rosinante 😭😭) Yandere Doffy gets word of Tsuru approaching he tells everyone to haul ass back to the ship because you're on the ship, and the warship is incoming and this man just takes flight on his strings to get to the ship quicker and drops the chest (in which Law is) with a thump on the ground that the chest judders and flips over, unlocking itself, and Law falls out but Doflamingo doesn't see him scrambling in the snow cus the baby boy is so small and because Doflamingo is leaping to the ship and putting up Spiderwebs all around to protect you.

He didn't get the Op-Op fruit. He didn't get Law. His own brother betrayed him. You're the only person he has left that he loves and he won't lose you. He is about to fly to intercept Tsuru's ship and destroy it, but his crew arrives - about time! - and they set sail in time and get away while cannonfire fills his ears. (And mutes Law's now audible cries of sadness because Cora-san is gone)

After they shake Tsuru off, Doflamingo rushes down to the lower deck to check on you.

And then you ask where are Law and Corazon.

Good luck, Doffy. You're sleeping on the couch for a year if you're lucky 😂

Also, yes to little Law pulling out a binder and writing down Reader's symptoms. There are definitely tender touches Doffy gives Reader in the night when nobody watches, I like to think. I wonder if Rosinante reveals himself to Reader and offers to take her too, but she grabs him by the collar and tells him very firmly, "Save Law, Corazon. You make sure you cure him. Law is the most important thing. Law needs to live. Make sure Law lives."

And Rosinante nods.

In the end, Rosinante made sure to keep his promise.

To end on a wholesome note...

I like to think Yandere Doffy carries you in his arms and takes flight over Dressrosa so you get some fresh air. Can't always stay in your bedroom, you need to move your limbs a bit regardless of being sick, and the doctor said it was okay as long as you don't strain yourself. When he flies with the sun on his face, carrying you in one arm while the other handles the strings, the wind ruffling his hair, his body heat embracing you... And then he notices you staring up at him and he smiles down at you, a genuine smile the King of Dressrosa gives no one but you, his wife.

Doflamingo makes sure his feather coat is wrapped around you to keep the chill of the breeze in the sky away.

26. Would you rather write a fic that had no dialogue or one that was only dialogue? One with no dialogue, because I can always throw in reported speech and thought processes. Takes a particular skill to make a fic that is all dialogue authentic and interesting.

28. Does anyone read your fics before you post them? If so, who? Sometimes. I won't name 'em cos' I don't want to clutter up their notifications, but especially for exchanges, or if I've used someone's art (with permission) as inspiration, or for zines, etc.

37. Promote one of your own “deep cut” fics (an underrated one, or one that never got as much traction as you think it deserves!). What do you like about it? Okay, I guess the most recent is valuta from the Corazine (aftersales almost finished, but that's just an aside). I thought I did a pretty good job on portraying what the Donquixote brothers went through, also Cora's relationship with Sengoku and Law, and then Law with Sengoku, but maybe it was too much for the word count. It got very little interaction in the way of comments, at least. I like the KidLaw fics I did for the 2022 exchange and for the OP secret santa that year, but they remain two of my least popular fics (in terms of hits).

I like valuta for story parallels (Cora and Doffy, Law and Lami, etc.). I like the KidLaw fics because they make me laugh.

38. Did any of your fics get surprisingly popular (whatever that means to you)? Which ones? Why do you think they were so successful? Yeah. I think I've answered this before, and it's not massively popular compared to some fandom behemoths, but the Usopp vs the Heart Pirates fic: Dark like the North Blue Sea (aka The Sea-Hill you Die On) . I think it grew in popularity because it's canon compliant (also, maybe funny). Once a fic gets a certain number of kudos or hits too, it feeds its popularity growth, because people sort by kudos and hits, so all those hidden gems remain hidden! I'm happy that people enjoy it though!

43. If you take/write prompts: what’s your favorite prompt fic that you’ve written? Probably the one that @afterdeck-ace gave me of: Chopper and Law talking about courage or Jolly Rogers. They're talking about both in softening the fall of snow. That's followed or on par with screen / shiki-e, which was inspired by a tsute doodle. You can see the doodle and links to tsute's art on the AO3 page.

47. If [taxi] was a pair of shoes, what kind would it be? Describe the shoes.

Her jeans cost more than his weekly pay, hell — monthly— and her sneakers were scuffed and used in a way that hid or emphasised their one-of-a-kind design. Pretty cool. A red tonbo — dragonfly — from what he could see, stretched from the toe, its thorax and segmented body running along one side of the shoe, a blue chrysanthemum and pond reeds rising from the heel and undulating in the air below the insect.

I used a ref for that, but can't remember where I sourced it from.

I changed a few things, and the maker's name is on the jpg, fortunately!

48. What’s the last fic you read? Do you recommend it?

Yes! I recommend it: Ours lives like sand in the gears of the world by @afterdeck-ace (Lily_Amazon). A platonic Law & Robin ficlet that explores the parallels and differences between them so well.

Also, a quick but satisfying read (sounds like Borsalino's possible reflection on Akainu) with this fic, In The Dappled Sun. Lemon mentioned (tumblr's being silly with throwing out community settings left, right and centre, so sorry for the return to FFN vocab). Fic author @kookoofufu

Am continuing to read saltyrock's It Takes a Lot to Know a Man but haven't read the latest chapter yet. LawBin and CrocoBin. Endgame LawBin.

Hace unos días me emocioné porque hubo un nuevo lector en Wattpad, cosa que me ha animado a seguir. 💕✨ Gracias por leer mis historias hermosa persona 🙇🏻‍♀️🎉⭐

Hace una semana que corregí el borrador de las teorías locas de Trinity Blood hablando de Petros pero de pronto me di cuenta que me dejé llevar demasiado y está muy mal estructurado, se nota que divagué muchísimo al hacerlo. Voy a corregirlo y lo publicaré pronto.

Quiero hacerlo en inglés también porque hay más lectores de estas cosas en ese idioma aunque creo que no he hecho nada del tema en español.

Quizá le pida permiso a mi amiga Lamy para traducir al español el último libro de RAM que ella tradujo, a decir verdad leí muy poco pero parece que ya estaba por terminarlo. Ni le he preguntado XD

Dejaré el hashtag para ver si hay interés en el tema en español y así como publico las traducciones al inglés en The Mad Eggplant en este blog haré lo propio con las traducciones en español. Si a alguien le interesa 😅✨

Este año quiero que salga ese, terminar las correcciones y continuar con Ghosts Can Love Too, que salga Elemental Wars y también sacar las correcciones de Space Defenders y publicar al fin la historia original (la publicada es un spin-off del pasado de la prota ;b, para que no suenen tan raras ciertas cosas lo quise sacar primero).

Solo tengo que organizarme poco a poco.

Recién me dio algo que mi compañero de aventuras dice que fue "La fiebre del diablo", el doctor que me atendió me dijo que podía tener influenza pero en realidad solo tuve fiebre un día y estuve mejor al siguiente aunque con dolor físico. Me inyectaron vitaminas y parece que eso ayudo y si... creo que he estado exigiéndome mucho, mentalmente al menos. Eso o todo el estrés que vengo arrastrando desde hace 7 años ya me está cobrando ahora...

Quiero organizar mi tiempo para poder escribir al menos una hora al día y dibujar también. Pero no sé, muchas situaciones en casa no me dan paz, pero quiero intentar mejorar eso.

Estoy animada pero debo sortear la vida adulta también... Espero que todo esto se arregle pronto.

Story: 3/5 - Interesting, though Epstein sadly removed the source materials' darker elements to make it more palatable.

Performances: 4.5/5 - Debucourt shines as Roderick Usher, expertly capturing his descent into desperation and madness.

Cinematography: 4.5/5 - Gorgeous, expressionistic framing, close-ups, and tracking shots.

Editing: 4/5 - Effectively disjointed to make the film feel dream-like.

Music: 2.5/5 - Sometimes at odds with what's on screen.

Effects: 4/5 - Interesting early use of slow motion. Superimposition is employed well to simulate Madeline's life being drained.

Sets: 3.5/5 - The exterior of the decayed manor looks wonderful. Interiors vary in quality, with some being obvious sets.

See, my final exams start next week, so updates will be very slow, if there are any at all. This is my final year, so the grades on these tests decide whether I make it into my dream university or not, and the two majors I am deciding between both require extremely high scores. That takes precedence.

To the people who sent asks to my inbox, I promise you I will get to them. Lately, I've been posting short prompts because that's all I have time for. And full-length fics definitely take more time to write. Thank you soo much for the asks though, they mean the world to me! Hey Cat!

I feel like one of the reasons a lot of movies suck is because they don't put enough effort into writing the script/dialogue, and the plot sometimes feels like it's been butchered at least 300 times before being dumped on the audience n calling it a day.

Take The Amazing Spiderman, for example. I don't actually hate TAS, in a way, I kind of like it. But what pisses me off about it is that it had the potential to be so much more. Like Andrew Garfield is an acting genius, and he did play one of the best Peter Parkers ever imo. There's a human behind Flash instead of the classic dumb hs bully.

It's the villains that annoy me. They feel so out-of-nowhere. Like the lizard guy, I don't really feel like I care about him existing so the fight between him and Spiderman doesn't invoke much emotion. The witty one-liners were fun though Ig.

Also, killing Gwen. Yes yes, there's nothing wrong w/a sad movie, but this felt more like a plot device than the natural flow of the story. Like yeah, Spiderman's alr experienced his harsh wake-up call when Uncle Ben died, so thia feels unnecessary. I'd understand a bittersweet breakup as the price of being a hero, but I'd still fricking hate it. Gwen was smart and funny and perfect for Peter, so maybe if it was just ups n downs but they got together, that would be fine. But no, let's just kill another female character for shock value.

Imo, Harry Osborn was lowkey a crappy villain in this one.

That aside, the main reason I absolutely adore the Dark Knight trilogy is the dialogue. It is written so well n is so fricking memorable. Because I like the villains. I can see their motives, but I still root for the hero because Bruce is shown to have a human side. He messes up and pushes people away, but he tries his hardest, yk. But the villains are compelling, and I actually loved Ra'as al Ghul in the 1st movie. (Joker needs no introspection)

TAS is the example of movies abt a great hero, with wonderful actors and actually good humour, but a weird as hell plot and villains that feel too cartoonish. I still prefer it to Toby Maguire's trilogy.

To be honest, I’ve never had any strong feelings about Spider-Man. I like the character but the movies never really impressed me until Into the Spiderverse came out. I don’t know, Marvel is disappointing in itself and in general I think DC villains are more interesting (and they have Nightwing 🤭😫😫😩).

« UN OURS DANS LE JURA » (1h53)

Un film de Franck Dubosc, avec Franck Dubosc, Laure Calamy, Benoit Poelvoorde…

Critiques sur le Site AlloCiné [Presse : 3,5 / Spectateurs : 3,8]

Nous y sommes allés jeudi dans l’après-midi, après avoir déjeuné avec Mostéfa et Fatiha, nos amis marocains, venus passer quelques jours à Paris.

Comme le temps était annoncé « pourri de chez pourri », nous avions choisi l’Indiana, le restaurant mexicain situé juste à côté de l’entrée du cinéma Pathé dans le Centre Beaugrenelle (voir la photo ci-dessous).

Quant au cinéma, pour les impressionner davantage, nous aurions voulu réserver nos places dans la grande salle équipée Dolby, là où des fauteuils en cuir, hyper-spacieux, permettent grâce à une télécommande une inclinaison totale (dos et pieds)… mais malheureusement c’était un dessin animé qui y était projeté.

Ayant lu quelques bonnes critiques de « Un Ours dans le Jura », le film de Dubosc (mais projeté dans la salle N°5, aux dimensions plus modestes)… nous nous sommes dits que nous pourrions passer un bon moment

Et cela fut le cas, le film est TRÈS PARTICULIER, dans le style « humour noir » des frères Coen (« Fargo », entre autres…). La salle était quasi-pleine et les spectateurs ont bien « fonctionné », nous inclus. Faut juste aimer ce genre de film.

Dans le Figaro, il y a une bonne et une mauvaise critique qui ont été publiées. Nous vous faisons suivre celle qui correspond le plus à ce que nous en avons pensé. Marina lui a donné ❤️❤️❤️,5 et JM, ❤️❤️❤️,8. Et bravo à Franck Dubosc qui dans ses rôles habituels n’est pas du tout notre « cup of tea » mais qui, ici, aussi bien comme metteur en scène que comme acteur, nous a épatés.

Aussi surprenant que réussi, « Un ours dans le Jura » est un film de genre maîtrisé, une comédie noire jubilatoire où il forme avec Laure Calamy un duo épatant. « Après Rumba la vie, j’ai ressenti le besoin de me secouer un peu, dit-il en sirotant un Orangina. Puisque la recette du succès n’existe pas, autant faire ce qu’on aime et moi, j’avais envie de faire du vrai cinéma. Alors, j’ai osé ! Encouragé par des exemples de liberté créatrice comme les frères Coen ou Tarantino, je suis parti d’une idée basique, celle d’un accident de voiture, puis j’ai imaginé une valise de billets, une femme dans une position délicate… Autant d’ingrédients que je devais mélanger dans un univers rural et français avec une bonne dose d’humanité.»

Résultat, le film est à la fois drôle, noir et empreint de sensibilité. Côté casting, le réalisateur est aussi sorti de sa zone de confort. S’entourant d’acteurs n’appartenant pas à sa famille de cinéma (Laure Calamy, Benoît Poelvoorde, Joséphine de Meaux, Emmanuelle Devos…), il a dû diriger des natures fortes et associer leurs univers. « Laure a toutes les notes, il suffit de dire “plus fort”, “moins vite” et elle suit. Avec Benoît, il faut presque réécrire la partition. Mais, finalement, on s’aperçoit qu’il comprend mieux son personnage que celui qui l’a écrit. »

Une expérience qui aura beaucoup appris au metteur en scène et qui risque d’embellir un peu plus encore l’image que professionnels et spectateurs ont de lui. « On me voit de moins en moins comme Patrick Chirac », admet-il. Si les producteurs de Gaumont lui ont immédiatement fait confiance en accompagnant ses premiers pas de réalisateur avec « Tout le monde debout » (Un film avec Alexandra Lamy que nous avions beaucoup aimé – NDLR du Blog), l’humoriste perçoit un changement de regard de ses pairs. 

Parmi la dizaine de scénarios qui attendent sur son bureau, certains viennent d’autres univers que le sien. Dubosc ne cherche pas à tout prix un grand rôle dramatique comme Coluche dans « Tchao Pantin », mais si Stéphane Brizé ou Quentin Dupieux l’appelaient, il serait ravi. Pas pour le regard de la presse car les critiques les plus snobs se sont déjà mis à l’aimer (« J’ai de bonnes notes maintenant dans Télérama », lance-t-il), mais pour le plaisir du jeu.

Et, effectivement, « cerise sur le gâteau », écoutez les 2 journalistes de Télérama, pourtant rarement tendres dans leurs critiques, parler du film… Cela pourrait convaincre certains d’entre vous.
