The funniest thing about Jason’s “no dealing to kids” rule is that generally the age threshold for weed and other hard substances is 21, and Jason did his whole insane plot at nineteen. Meaning, he technically falls into the category of “off limits”

Currently swayed into the ‘Believe it or not, living with a British guy for decades WILL give Bruce an accent’ bandwagon.

It'd be so cute if it only slips out when Bruce does. He maintains a silence to Batman, when he prowls, — because Gotham isn't a gentle animal, so he can't be, either, — the lesser the chances to be recognized by voice, the better.

Nonetheless, talking can't be avoided forever. Especially not when dealing with scared people that have to be reassured.

“You know we’re basically CPS for adults, right?”

“Except we do our jobs.”

Martinez looks up at the sky, biting back a cackle, because he’ll be DAMNED if he laughs at this freak’s jokes. “I hate it when you're funny.”

He’s positive Batman frowns in confusion because he tilts his head, emulating a confused dog. “I’m not trying to be.”

“Oh, go FUCK yourself.”

Batman isn't interested in continuing their benter, much too busy with the crying child in the waiting room at the station. She's the tiniest witness there.

He must be the only vigilante carrying lollipops next to paralyzing gas.

The cadence in his voice simply burns off any dark intention associated with him. But if you listen as closely as Martinez does, you'll hear a poised arch in his accent.

“Here you go, love. Shall I get you a choccy while we talk to your father?”

Martinez sits and blinks for about a minute, which should earn him a record of some short.

you thought of how sweet he is to mc when he’s usually civil, and cold and indifferent to others. the image of them walking around, hand and hand; laughing and teasing each other—you wanted that.

you want him.

what’s so great about her? how is she better than you? what’s got caleb tethered to that woman like a dog?

if only caleb could realize you were better than her; that you deserved his attention more—no, you’re the only one.

if only she didn’t exist.

There’s something to be said about people with a lost gaze.

You haven’t known Xavier for long. Don’t know much about him either. He’s a co-worker and a neighbor. He is quiet and polite, and mostly keeps to himself. The neighbors are wary about him—whether it’s his presence or lack thereof. He doesn’t seem to have many friends; any, really. You’ve asked around the office, and despite his known skills people draw blanks when you mention his name. Nothing beyond he’s strong and he’s quiet. Many I don’t know’s and nothing concrete. 

You don’t know him that well. When he speaks he does so in vague statements, secretly woven riddles only he understands. There’s a barely hidden mirth when he does, and you indulge him, for it’s the few times his eyes look alive. He also has a knack for coming and going—living in the inbetween. He drifts by, like a shoe in a current or a ghost in a house. A master of apparitions and mystery. He returns to an empty house, tired and barely on his feet, and when he leaves he does so when the world is asleep and unaware. He comes and he goes and nobody notices. If he were to never return, perhaps you’d be one of the few to know. When time fades, perhaps the only one to remember.

You don’t know him that well. But sometimes he gets strange. Hazy eyes and slow blinks, as if he was in the center of a forgotten dream. His features are placid, peaceful, otherworldly, in a way—not just his beauty, but the look of his face, like he isn’t sure if he’s still on earth. There’s a distant quality to it, like he’s too far away and out of reach, way out of orbit. Slipping through your fingers, no matter how much they try to grasp. You live here and he lives there, eons apart. Maybe in another universe, you think, you came to know the depths of his mind, let you learn the contours of his soul.

He’s so kind, so polite. He keeps the murkiness trapped in webs and shrugs it off with a small quirk of his mouth. Doesn’t acknowledge and doesn’t explain. You wonder what world resides inside his head—what’s the absence that resides in his chest. 

“You look lost,” is what you want to tell him. “You wear melancholy like a second skin.”  With eyes of the clear sky and yet he’s more akin to a gray, cloudy day. He looks at you and gets lost in something, inside his own self. His eyes phase you over. He looks at you and you wonder what he’s really looking at. 

It’s not you.

I noticed that in the Case of the Creeping Forest, we have Crystal & Charles with their own lantern in the forest.

Edwin and Monty with their own lantern.

Neither of those lanterns is the same as the one that Edwin gave to Charles when they met.

The Cat King extinguishes Monty's flame just before lighting his own Chandelier and outing Monty to Edwin, hoping it will garner favor for himself in Edwin's eyes.

When Charles descends into Hell, he doesn't have the lantern in hand yet. He pulls it out of his Bag-of-Tricks in the darkness of the Doll House.

As the fandom has already pointed out, the lantern that Edwin gave Charles when he was dying is the same lantern Charles brings into Hell to save Edwin.

Anyway, hope y'all were having a good day. Let's share all our theories with the class <3
