A sculpture of Blaidd

Continuing the theme of the nearing death, here is a Blaidd figurine I've made. Medium: LaDoll, LaDoll premix, plastic, sponge, epoxy resin, acrylic paints.

There's barely any shard of Blaidd left in his mind.

Blaidd, who speaks curtly and awkwardly, but cares about everything more than he seems to. Blaidd, who laughs joyfully in anticipation of a glorious battle with his newfound comrade-in-arms. Blaidd, who enthusiastically exhales, "What a sick way to fight, eh!"

And yet it's still him.

One could leave the half-wolf like that. One could cut short his agony with the last inglorious duel. Unfortunately, the plot offers no opportunity to reach Farum Azula to repel the influence of the Greater Will.

He sits on the steps, over the corpse of a failed deathbringer. The emptiness of the hood still expresses nothing. The earth, damp with eternal mists, the sleepy ringing of frozen buds. A silent deathbringer, clumsily sprawled somewhere below.

Today he defied death. Today he defied and defeated himself - for the last time. Through the encroaching madness he sees red - his own blood. The red will shift into his eyes very soon. There is nobody and nothing but memory and a blade, useless against madness. He is dying.

But he has not lost.

Resin printing CAN be cheap, as cheap as using DAS clay for prototyping instead of Ladoll or Epoxi clay. However, a good printer (+499$) good, durable resin not brittle shit stuff (+60$ per liter) curing station (+80 DIY/300$from company) plus protective equipment (+120-400$) plus sandpaper, and other consumables for finishing the print (30/60$)... they all add up. That's not even considering the cost of Primer and filler clay for prototypes. People think I'm making money out of this. Yes I do, but cost of the doll barely covers the prototypes/ finishing/casting/shipping materials/ taxes.... I make like 20$ per doll and that doesn't even cover the hundreds of hours invested in working. I really help and welcome everyone into the hobby, but dollmaking is not for the money greed..... It's my job and I barely make it for food through winter...

Just wanted to pop in and say how much I absolutely love your Youtube channel! I just started watching a few months ago and it's been really inspiring. I also want to let you know (if you haven't tried it yet) that Sculpey has an air dry clay that I personally like better than DAS clay but it is around the same price point. There is two versions with basically the same packaging, one being the air dry modeling clay and the other the premium air dry clay. The premium is a bit better but I do like both! I'm enjoying following your doll making journey. I can't wait for your anthro takara pony to become a reality.

I didn't actually realize sculpey had air dry clay! Somehow I've just never seen that on store shelves I guess, or maybe I just overlooked it because of the brand name.

And at my local craft store it does look like it's cheaper than premier, which is what I usually use! Same price as DAS. It looks like sculpey is a bit denser than premier based on the weight (I assume the volume is similar?)

I'll have to check it out, thank you for letting me know!

full disclosure, I *do* have some unopened ladoll premier waiting in the wings, hence why im trying to get through my current batch, but obviously I'll be needing clay again sometime after that too.

Sam bila sa najboljom drugaricom ( posle skole). U jutru, samo se dogovorile da idemo na sladoled.

Ja sam Kalinu pitala u koliko dati da sae nadjemo pre prevodu časa. Nas dve smo bile jamo srećne ( happy)! ☀️ Kalina me je zamolila dali da ponesem sa nama u šetnju psa. Moj pas se zove Simba. Simba ima 3 meseca, jako je međen i sladak maj popularniji je u mom delu koji ja živim.Dogovorile samo se da se nadjemo u pola jeda n ili u jedan i našle samo kod poslastičarnice u jedan popodne ja sam brzo hodala i nosila Sbu su kama kao bebu i jeste i beba. Kada ni je Kalimnq napisala poruku na Vaber-ru brzo sam trčala do našeg vidjanja. Kada sam došla na mesto gde trebam da se nadjem sa najboljom drugaricom. Ja sam počela da je zovem da videm dokaze je stiga i dali dolazi i kada mi je rekala da je preko ulice sreće mi je lupalo od seče kao u Simbi da se vidje sa mojom drugaricom. Kalina me je castila sa ladoled posto je tražila, ja ma rekala vazi.

Htela zje da seta moga psa posto ima isto psa i nije htela zato jer će se njem pas na mog Siimbu malo da gnjavi. P bojala se koliko od prilike je visine. Mi smo krenuli ka parku je jeli sladoled i osu kuglu uzeli ili sam je bio od Hariboja.

I'm working on a lot of things and I'm nervous about sharing what I do because it is such a shift in tone. the thing that makes me feel better (but bad in a different way) is that I was never really serious about posting my art exclusively in the first place, so my blog isn't really going from all digital art to suddenly my sculpting work as well, it's going from nonsense to more nonsense.

I want to do this, though, so I hope some of you like seeing it. I'm going to persevere!
