under these labels, womens default state is considered 'butch', and 'femme' is the makeup, the feminine aesthetics and clothes and behaviours, the humiliation rituals, the rebranded het relationship gender roles 'but this time its lez so its different haha'

and these labels tend to have this implication that acting out these roles is inherent to u, inherent to ur lesbian identity or ur lesbian relationships

in short some of u are clinging so hard to these gender roles its embarassing, and its antifeminist to boot... i understand some ppl dont claim to be feminist in the first place, but i know in these circles that its something that matters to most of u, so it just seems nonsensical overall. and if u really cant pull urself away from the makeup, at least dont make the femininity stuff a whole pillar of ur identity

yes a sense of unity and collective “You” is good for systems to have but why are some people on this website acting like letting alters have individual sense of selves is going to tank your chances of recovery. denying parts their selfhood would involve not listening to them, accommodating or helping them feel happy (which is really hard to do as part of a system!!! for obvious reasons!!!!!)

forcing them to consider themselves just one person when their lived experiences do not match up with that is literally making things worse. some systems feel like they have been just one person their whole life, some don’t! some systems are very differentiated from each other, some aren’t!!

systems are as uniquely individual as literally every person on earth! everyone on this planet has lived different lives from each other and in turn will experience the same things differently from one another. that is like a very simple thing to grasp. it is very easy to not be ableist.

dude like i did my part in theorising about dan howell's identity years ago i'm over it dbsjchdjf we know he dgaf about pronouns and from everything he's told us it's pretty safe to say bestie isn't binary, but if he wants a specific label then he can share that with us when he feels comfortable, i'm not really interested in debating it

idk i've said it before but as a nonbinary person myself i think it's very freeing to use "contradicting" "gendered terms" for yourself as you wish and preferably without someone immediately labelling you anything specific for it

that's not to say i have any ill will towards anyone who's very passionate about the subject, i totally get it and of course it would be exciting to hear dan share more thoughts on gender, but for me personally i'm not gonna go any deeper on it y'know?

As the resident Jaime expert, do you have thoughts on Jaime explicitly comparing himself to Brandon Stark and saying he was a lot like him (unlike Ned) and later famously saying “There are no men like me”?

Is he just being self-contradictory?

i just think that can be attributed to jaime’s whole outlook and feelings of isolation at that time. ofc there is the lannister exceptionalism deal w lannisters or whatever but as a result of the aerys situation (everything about it: those two years and the aftermath of it as well) jaime feels like the rest of society doesnt understand how things are and how he sees and feels about things and him as a whole. so in addition to the arrogance in “there are no men like me” there is kind of a layer about that bitter feeling of isolation too. and in terms of contradicting that, brandon isnt the only one he compares himself to. brandon aside, which i do think is more about just a wilder personality especially in juxtaposition to ned (and him wanting to get on cat’s nerves lol), jaime contradicting that pretty often as his arc goes on and being able to relate to and connect with and see himself in others in general is a pretty important aspect to developing as a human being and getting out of his stasis. “there are no men like me” just isnt really a fact. u can understand and be understood by others

hannibal doesn’t really give much credence to the conventions of modern society. labels can be both too all encompassing and too confining and at times not very useful at all. i def think he views sexuality and gender as a fluid thing, just not in the political way that young people nowadays do. he’s a hedonist and a connoisseur of all things beautiful and pleasurable. he’s most def a connoisseur of the human body. i just don’t think he would lower himself to one thing or another. that being said, he’s still a person that lives within the influence of society, and the views on gender and sexuality when he was a young man are not the same as they are now which is what i meant when i reblogged that post. like i said, he was coming into his own in florence in the 80s. (if want to understand the implications of that just do a bit of research on lgbt history and lgbt life in places like paris and florence, etc). for the sake of relating to others and moving through the world, i think he would call himself bisexual at best. but again, i don’t think he puts much stock in labels. words are generally inadequate to describe personal, intangible desires and experiences.
