This is the third or fourth poster/cover I've inked using a Kuretake bimoji brush pen and I really love the degree of control it offers.

A test portrait of Kunzite, done with Copic Markers and Prismacolor pencils. I plan on redoing him and doing all 4 of the Shitennou to sell eventually.

Copics used were B95, B04, V09, B16, B00, C4, C7, B02, C5, E53, E00, E31, BG11, BV00, Prismacolor Cool Grey 20%, Cool Grey 40%, Prismacolor colored pencils Cool Grey 50%, Beige, Cream, Lilac, Violet Blue, Light Blue. Lined in Kuretake brush pen and accented with Artistro white acrylic brush pen.

first one is disposable but very nice thin & thick lines, 2nd one nylon brush fountain body!

3rd one, the Tombow fudenosuke comes in hard or soft, both arevery good to have and VERY versatile trusted pens to me, very easy consistent lines w/out much effort

the other two arevery nice for filling large areas, the kuretake no. 55 is felt tip and soft so makes nice thin lines too, but ink is thinner, and kuretake no.25 is thicker? stickier ink? BUT will cover an area very opaque first pass (kuretake 55 FEELS nicer to use though)

An annoying thing about my scanner is that the bed is 17" long but it will only scan to 16.75"ish, and I can only be bothered to scan twice and stitch if it's an actual 11x17" piece.

PS - his ears really are that big.

Works in progress. I really liked the sketch, so I included that, also! My linework is beginning to take shape thanks to a Transformers How-to-Draw book I read back in August (in regards to the black shadows).

All the Inner Princesses together! Some came out better as scans, some I had to take with my phone (Mercury I managed to clean up a bit and I found the 4th redo that I did of Venus which I originally wanted to post but her hair line was so messed up, I was able to clean it) All done with Copic Markers and some touched up with colored pencils and cleaned up a bit with PS.

There have been a few times where people my age or younger have found out that I know a little Japanese and then jump right into talking about like anime or JRPGs or something. Which is a reasonable conclusion to make, that I'd be into those things if I studied Japanese, since that's a common motivator for a lot of people to learn the language.

But the truth is that I have the spirit of a 50 year old man and could not tell you more than, like, one anime that came out this year. The last JRPG I played was Final Fantasy 9 (last year, didn't beat it). I don't even know more than like 3 American movies/shows that came out this year either, to be honest.

And it's not that I live under a rock!!! It's mostly just that.... I don't really care. My attention span for film and roleplay games is very short. Though, I could tell you what 1980s heavy metal albums are getting vinyl repressings this year. That information does absolutely nothing in a conversation about Japanese film and video game media, unfortunately.

Anyway, I started learning Japanese to read art supply packaging. Japan produces some really nice inks and dip pen nibs.
