I asked on insta what I could draw in my new sketchbook and someone suggested dazai… and honestly how could I ever say no to dazai?
I’m not particularly happy with the page but I’m trying to not let my perfectionism get in the way for once so I’ll just have to lern to let go.

teach me how to doo that crayon aesthetic I WANNA KNOW :^O
OHHOHOOO if you mean my draft horse and puppet drawings! I use colored mechanical pencils layerd and outlined with markers(pinks, and yellows I use mostly, or a nice minty green on occasion!) Then I edit it on my phone or an art program a bit to make it look clear!

My review of Pilot color eno pencils 1 year after purchase
I have always been fascinated by sketching in color. So personally I have been using pencils like the blue red duo by carand'ache for ages. Sadly though, these were discontinued. So I had to find alternatives. Then thanks to some youtubers I found the mechanical colored pencils by Pilot called the color eno series. I was sold immediately because of their range of absolutely stunning colors. Mind you, I have also tested the col-erase pencils by prismacolor, but because I am European, it's much harder to get my hands on those especially if I want a specific color. (Amazon only sells them in sets of 12) (If anyone has a col-erase pencil for me in the color tuscan red please hmu it is my favourite)
So for the color eno pencils, I chose my favourite colors. Pink and purple. And they work absolutely great. Sadly though, I burn through the lead really quickly because I put a lot of pressure on pencils while I draw. However I had also found that the lead just snaps really easily while it is in the pencil barrel as well.
Now onto the biggest problem I have with these. It's the lightfastness. Apperantly Pilot had warned customers about this. But I have yet to see a review or official post of any kind about this. These pencils are NOT lightfast. In fact, when exposed to direct sunlight, my drawing faded within what was at least 5 to 10 minutes. And I have been kind of disappointed by this. As these have been my absolute favourite sketching pencils for aesthatic pieces in my sketchbooks. So as a heads up, if you ever use these in drawings, know that they don't last! You're going to have to line them with a fineliner instead!
I really hope Pilot comes with a lead formula that maybe doesn't fade and break as quickly as these leads do. Because these remain a favourite of mine no matter what. Well, aside the col-erase tuscan red pencil that is.
By the way, if you are interested in my artwork, my art blog is called @petalofdreams

Hahahahaha, guess who's the fool who thought they would be posting in a week since my last post--Σ(T▽T;)
MEEEE!!! That's who!! Lmao! 。゚(゚^∀^゚)゚。
*Ahem!*
Anyways!! Enough with my usual MIA in social media, we have some good sketches and drawings in this spread today!! (^^)人(^^)
I have bought myself these Arrtx markers (the 90 Oros set and the 48 skin tone Oros set) for myself. Whhshs I couldn't resist buying these! I still use my Ohuhu markers (I love their colorful and saturated colors to ever drop them!!!). But I decided to use the Arrtx markers so I can get a feel for these markers.
These Arrtx markers are fun to use!! As usual I use Lukadrien to help me experiment with them. Weeelllll... I also used Zukaang too, but that's in a separate post (;^∀^) hahaha.
I hope you all don't mind the messiness of this spread. Sketchbooks are great to experiment! I love traditional art!!!

hello! i was wondering where you managed to purchase a blue mechanical pencil? awesome art by the way, it's so damn clean! you're a real inspiration to meeee.
Hello there!! I just got blue leads for my favorite mechanical pencil! I get them at my local art store, but I’m sure you can find them online, too! The ones I use are the pilot color eno ones, in deep blue, if that helps!
Also, so glad you like my art!! Thank you so much! 🧡

I didn't quite finish the drawing for yesterdays MerMay prompt ("aquarium"), but I did manage a little sketch of a trans merman based on a betta fish! I might go back and finish it later, I might not.
Sketched using a Sakura 127 mechanical pencil with 0.7 Pilot Eno Color in soft blue.

(wip) It's been long while since I draw anything on my sketchbook, slowly getting back to it again.
Turns out I prefer bigger books and now I have a need to buy new sketchbooks.
Leds are 0.7 Pilot Color Eno leds, they come in many colours but my personal favourites are red and blue!

Been following you for while and after seeing a couple of your WIP it made me wonder... What exactly ia your process? And the step by step strategy you follow every time you draw.
And if you use any kind of reference, if you don't mind me asking of course
Ooh fun.
So to start, I still consider myself in a big learning phase. I stopped drawing for a decade and have spent the last 4 years relearning a lot. I only started water color coming up on 2 years ago. So take anything I say with a big grain of salt.
One big thing I've been working on is the process, having drafts, etc.
Using a recent painting I can illustrate my ideal method for illustrations (my landscapes skip numbers 4 and 5).
1) research, I use Pinterest a lot, as well as stock photos and posing apps. References are super important to me and I rarely start drawing without them.
Tumblr media
2) thumbnails, this is relatively new but things turn out so much better when I do I rough sketch or two (or more)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Tumblr media
3) sketch layer in blue pencil
4) round two in purple pencil (below is half way done with step 4) so you can see the two colors
Tumblr media
5) round three in light brown ink
6) watercolor painting
Tumblr media
(the yellow is masking fluid) that was removed later)
7) second ink layer, and highlights

For supplies I like (I'm not rich, and feel I can say most of this can be acquired on a modest budget, especially over timing and taking advantage of sales)
🌼Pilot Color Eno mechanical pencils in light blue and purple
🌼Factis Black erasers
🌼Stilman and Birn Beta sketchbooks, Baohong paper and in a pinch masters touch paper from Hobby Lobby when I need something super affordable
🌼Windsor Newton professional or Daniel Smith watercolors, pricey but last a long time. (Buy them on sale a few at a time, I have 5 ml tubes and haven't replaced one yet in almost two years). You don't need a lot, I started with about a dozen and that was plenty to start with.
🌼Washi Tape
🌼Princeton Velvet Touch Brushes (rounds in size 2, 4, 6, 8 and a large brush for washes is a great start, you need tons of specialty brushes)
🌼Dr. Martin's Bleedproof White
🌼Sakura Micron Pens (I main use brown, light brown and black in 005 and 01 size)
I don't believe in hoarding art knowledge so please ask any questions. If you're just starting I advise getting at least quality student grade materials, reddit and other sites are great for finding affordable supply recommendations.
If you're interested in watercolor there are a lot of great tutorials out there, I started with a free landscape class from thewritingdesk on Instagram!
