I commissioned Hika to draw Kuroha and Ene for my chibi icon commission! Hika initially drew the unhinged expression for Kuroha >:D And then changed to the version with the smug smile :]

I asked Hika to keep both expressions for the finalized versions since I loooove both 💞💘

Commission Rambles

KuroEne have some official art refs (official art, merch arts) that can be inconsistent in colours (ex. their headphones) so I also gave some notes and quick edits of official arts.

I sent these arts of Kuroha and Ene as my main refs 🖤💙

I sent more too, but I felt that since I'm commissioning chibis of them, that these arts simplify their designs nicely.

I did a little edit of their concept arts for fun. I mainly did it to get a clearer full body ref of Saeru to make it easier for the artists I'm commissioning

My main focus is on 9/6 and XX/6, basically all related ships (KuroEne, HaruTaka, KonoEne)

Depending on the arts (including merch arts), Kuroha's clothes either get coloured with the same black colour, or with the inner clothes as a darker black.

I prefer when his inner clothes and boots, etc., are a darker black cuz it has more visual contrast against his design. It also differentiates the clothes more to have the outer shirt be a lighter gray black vs. the darker blacks in his hair and inner clothes.

His entire design is in dark colours (black, gray), and the gold in his eyes and facial markings cuts away from that. Yellow is a bright vivid colour.

Though it makes sense in MVs like Outer Science and some official arts/merch why his outer and inner shirts are the same colour to not distract from the mood/atmosphere, and also in pieces/merch that use a limited colour palette

For the FIRST time, I finally get to see that Kuroha art in full and not in crusty quality for once. It's a happy day for me

She is TINY compared to them... Haruka/Konoha/Kuroha is 182 cm (6'0") and Ene is 157 cm (5'2") or 640 px tall... Portable gf. They could put her in their pocket

Interesting that Ene's thigh highs were originally asymmetrical in the concept arts. The finalized design definitely fits her more.

Simplifying Ene's headphones is completely fine with me cuz of the rectangular part on it...

Commissions

Whenever I commission artists, I send a detailed description of the characters' relevant design details, poses and expressions, etc., in the form itself.

Then I attach all necessary art refs in a Google Drive Folder and then send the link to the artist.

Because I know that sending a lot of art refs and a detailed description, just makes things easier for the artists you're commissioning.

VGen Rambles

VGen's site layout and format are honestly better than Ko-fi's imo

VGen has a REALLY nice UI for commissioning artists... I prefer it over Ko-fi when it comes to commissioning artists.

It shows all your commission requests in an organized format, and it has a really good commission request form, where the artist can send invoices.

VGen lets you upload more files and links as art refs. It's better than Ko-fi's in that it allows you to upload more files and add links. Iirc, I think Ko-fi's has a limit of 5

The artists can DM with their clients on VGen directly, and also leave files in high quality directly on the commission form after completion

There's also a review section, typically the artist leaves a review for the client and the client can give one. I always leave a message for the artist after the commission is done to show my gratitude 🥰

Cheetah Girls AU | Ref

Imagine...the up-and-coming teen group, The Cheetah Girls, debut in Konoha to a modest crowd. Sarada, their impassioned leader, tries to get them a record deal with the evil music producer Jackal Johnson (played by Kawaki). Discovering the evils of the music industry, Sarada leaves the group but misses her best friend Chocho and groupmates Himawari and Sumire. They come back together to sing an impassioned rendition of "Cheetah Sisters" in the streets of Konoha to a roaring crowd.

author's note: This is so tragic why would you do this to them. It was always the end of the world when you had to face off against your crush in a game or something at that age, huh? I wrote this from the perspective of the reader being from Konoha as well. I hope you like it!

summary: The genins have to face off against their crush in the one-on-one battles at the chunin exams.

Uzumaki Naruto

Oh, sweet summer child genin Naruto. I had the biggest crush on him when I was watching the show as a kid. I think even if he was up against someone he had a crush on in the chunin exams, he wouldn’t hold anything back for his sake and their own. The exams are for you to get stronger and show your skills off, after all!

Beforehand, though, would be different. Naruto, for all intents and purposes in part 1, was quite down bad for any person he had a crush on. Seeing your two names on the screen would for sure send him into a flustered shock. He would get that sly grin on his face, and say to you, “I’m not lettin’ anyone stop me from winning, not even you! I’ll make sure not to hurt you, though, you know?”

The fight would be a ferocious but still friendly spar, contrasting from the killing intent a lot of the other participants went in with like Gaara and the Sound Four. You both would give it your all, running yourselves even more ragged, However, in the end Naruto’s Shadow Clones and taijutsu would prove a bit too much and the ref would call you down for the count after a particularly solid blow.

He would help you off of the ground and congratulate you for such a tough-to-win battle. Afterwards, he’d probably turn away from everyone else, grinning and giggling at the realization that he got to hold your hand for a second. 

Uchiha Sasuke

Before Itachi traumatized him yet again, Sasuke at this point was actually learning how to kind of open up to people. I think his crush would be extremely well hidden underneath his bad attitude. He’s not the type to let people know his true emotions very quickly. Your names would show up on the screen, and he would simply step forward, ready to engage in a spar.

Sasuke wouldn’t hold back, but obviously if you’re not an enemy he has no reason to severely hurt you. You knew that he was unable to use ninjutsu, so you attempted to use this to your advantage to win the match.

After fighting hard, Sasuke would end up catching you in a taijutsu combo that knocked you down hard, the ref calling you out. Sasuke would stay standing as you got up to make sure you were alright, then bowing his head slightly to you. “Good match. You’ve improved quite a bit, but still not enough to beat me,” he would comment before walking off to join the rest of the genin.

Underneath that cool, teenage edgelord personality, though, his heart was racing from more than just the physical activity he did. He’s just particularly good at hiding it!

Haruno Sakura

Sakura, in the Forest of Death, just had her true awakening moment as a kunoichi. The last thing on her mind is you, but of course you’re the name to pop up with hers on the board above. I could personally see her struggling a little bit with this, does she want to hurt you and push past you? Before her experience, in the exams, I think there’s a chance she would lose resolve here, not wanting to fight the person of her affections. But here, while still hesitant, she’s ready to fight for her position and her honor as a young shinobi.

You two would line up to fight and immediately begin on signal from the ref. You were friends with Sakura, so seeing as you two sparred frequently, you could tell she was holding something back unconsciously. You decided to goad her on a little, to make sure the fight was fair.

Are they kidding me? They think I’m not taking this seriously! Go and crush them, who cares if they’re cute! her inner thoughts would ring. Whatever was restraining her would go away, and you two would exchange ninjutsu and taijutsu back and forth. At the end, however, Sakura barely manages to knock you flat down, advancing to the next round while ragged herself.

Sakura would tease you a bit after helping you get up at the end of the match, some banter ensuing between the two of you. Inside, she would be squealing in delight at getting more of your attention, even though she just smacked you down.

Hyuga Hinata

My sweet, sweet child genin Hinata… Against her crush in the chunin exams, I’m not sure how she would fare. Her painfully shy and reserved attitude may interrupt her thinking process during a fight. Seeing your name on the board with hers would make her face erupt into a fierce blush.

You would meet Hinata on the field, the ref signaling for you to start. She wouldn’t make a move, though, just looking at you in a defensive stance. Her fighting style the entire time would be defensive, trying her best to push off your moves. Since she’s not fighting Neji, I doubt there would be a reason for her to really have her moment yet, so you would eventually win after wearing her down.

After the fight, you would ask her what had happened. The two of you were on missions together before, you had seen her beat down some opponents of your skill level with her Byakugan skills. “I-I’m not sure… I don’t know… Please, let me have a moment,” she would mutter, covering her entire face with her hands and facing away from you.

Wandering away, you would be slightly concerned about Hinata, but all that was on her mind was you, how she hoped you would win the tournament now in her honor.

So chapter 5 of ‘The People We Think We Know’ is almost done so don't worry, but I’ve had a brain worm for a one or two-shot Iruka x Reader that is the oblivious!Sunshine x infatuated!Grumpy trope, with the Reader being the Grumpy one of the two that goes something like this:

Reader is tall (like 6'4"/1.94m) and intimidating (with a heavy RBF)

To give you an idea of how they would seem intimidating with their height, most of the Konoha shinobi are about 5'10"/1.78m or shorter

(For ref: Iruka is 5'10"/1.78m, Kakashi is 5'11"/1.81m, Guy is 6'/1.84m)

Reader is seen as pretty desirable by other shinobi. There are a lot of people that have tried to woo them, but they have been generally uninterested

Reader hadn’t met Iruka yet since they primarily take a lot of high-ranking escort missions outside of Konoha

Meets Iruka for the first time at a large jounin/chuunin mixer at a bar:

Iruka: Hi, it’s lovely to meet you! *big, sweet smile* Reader (internally): Oh…I guess I need to go buy a ring now.

Reader shows some interest in him, chatting him up some and subtly asks him on a date

After Iruka leaves, Reader takes a nonchalant sip of their drink and just blankly says: I’m gonna fuck that man

Everyone loses it:

Anko is whooping and starts chugging everyone’s drinks Kurenai is shaking Asuma back and forth Asuma spat his drink all over the table Kakashi is mentally blue-screening Gai is…well being Gai Kotetsu and Izumo are screaming Genma nearly swallows his senbon toothpick

Then everyone is like why Iruka?:

Reader: ????? 1. Financially responsible 2. Stable job 3. Great with kids 4. Mentally and emotionally mature 5. Good moral compass 6. Didn’t try to woo me when we first met Ergo: perfect man

Reader starts to go on dates with Iruka, but Iruka thinks they are just hangouts:

Iruka (internally): Ah, there’s no way this successful, kickass, and amazing person would be interested in someone like me. Reader (with a wedding ring burning a hole in their pocket): No, no, you aren't boring me and I have nothing to do today (is absolutely shirking the thing they're supposed to be doing today). Please, tell me more about how you developed Konoha’s early development program for our child education system on your own.

If there is a parent or someone bothering Iruka, Reader will just come up from behind Iruka’s shoulder and glare at the person with an intimidating “is there something wrong here?”

Reader absolutely is the one to propose first:

Iruka: We haven’t even dated yet! Reader (still on one knee with the ring out): All of our hangouts have been dates. Iruka: ??? No they weren’t–…WAIT A MINUTE

Just overall, the Gomez and Morticia Addams dynamic, but Reader is Gomez and Iruka is Morticia

Sen's Rambles

Recently got a cute purple bow I started wearing. I got my ears pierced on Outer Science Day (8/31), coincidentally! I got some small cheap stainless steel star ones for now. After that, I'll go get some post earrings 🙏

The school semester started for me on the 4th, so I'll be busier and won't have the time to draw as often.

I'll try to keep up my posts of posting something everyday (or almost everyday) since I usually post stories right before I go to bed, art and/or rambles

I clipped my bow to my hair loosely so it doesn't tug on my hair but it almost fell off, so I'll also think about getting a bow with a scrunchy eventually too. Since I wanna wear a cute purple bow like Selena, but I still want it to be comfy. Right now this bow is still fine ^^

Admittedly I'm still thinking of what ship I wanna draw for my birthday on 9/12… I think it'll be posted late since I was mainly working on school work this week. I think it needs to be a Sen-core ship.

I was having a hard time deciding what ship I wanted to draw. I feel like it should be XanLena since Selena is my KHR OC (and beloved wife), but I'm also open to others too. I think I want to draw them in traditional Viet clothes as a redraw of my old XanLena pieces in the past.

I also considered drawing KuroEne or JuAli.

Since for JuAli, I've been sketching ideas irt a potential Tegaki fan-animatic with them. Particularly the Vocaloid Song crossover I thought of...

I also had some other ideas too of art ideas to draw with them! I wanna draw them in Chinese and Arabic traditional clothes, and then have them wear matching couple hanfu at some point.

I really want to make coloured doodle ship pieces for the rest of my ships that can match the quality of the KuroEne one I drew.

The expressions and colours are so good in my recent KuroEne art that I want to be able to match the same level of quality for my other ships too.

I've drawn KuroEne recently, so I wanna draw a ship piece with others. Though it'd be fun~ 9/6 Day is HaruTaka, KonoEne, and KuroEne Day, since 9 is Haruka/Konoha's Mekakushi Dan member code, and 6 is Takane/Ene's 🖤💛💙

Kuroha/Saeru is usually denoted as "XX" in merch since he's not apart of the Mekakushi Dan, but gets included as part of 9/6 by association.

Because I want it to be art of them with my HC designs. I still need to refine my sketches and design Alibaba's outfit.

I'd love to commission LimGuda but Douman has a really detailed and complex complicated design so I think that'll be for the future.

Maybe you can help me? I am writing a fic and have a little doubt about the age difference between Shikamaru and Temari; is there a brief period (August 23 - September 22) when Temari is actually 4 years older?

I’m not sure if I’m being clear but If so, I could add a little joke.

The short answer is: yes that's the one! They are 3 years apart except for the few weeks between Temari's birthday and Shikamaru's where Temari is 4 years older.

The long answer with explanations (if you want it, i won't be vexed if you skip haha) is: Shikamaru is said in the data books to be 12/13 over part 1, and Temari to be 15/16 so they are 3 years apart.

Sometimes it can be a bit unclear which of two characters of the same year are younger and older, for example, Sakura is born in March and Sasuke in July, they are the same age, but does that mean that Sakura is older and they're the same age after Sasuke's birthday, or the other way around? And the answer depends on if you read ages as civil year ages (two characters the same age are born the same January to December year, so Sakura first, Sasuke second) or school year (two characters the same age are born the same April to March year, so Sasuke first, Sakura second).

The data books imply it's rather the second, because all Konoha 12 are the same age and in the same class, so they must be of the same school year, not the same civil year.

But in Temari and Shikamaru's case, it doesn't change anything if you read it one way or the other, Temari's birthday is first and Shikamaru's birthday second in both configurations.

It does influence the siblings' age gap tho! The data book says they are 12/14/15. But their birthdays are far apart (January, May, August). If we count in civil year, it would make Gaara born in Jan 2000 (that's my ref for the Kyuubi attack year), Kankurou in May 1998 and Temari in Aug 1997.

But in school year, it implies that Gaara is born in 2001. So actually he is almost 3 years younger than Kankurou. When he turns 13 in Januray, Kankurou is already 15 and Temari already 16, and less than four months later Kankurou turns 16 as well.

And that also means Temari and Kankurou are the same age from May to August, too, and that Kankurou is a pre-term baby because he's only 8 months younger than Temari. (This again regardless of the type of year you choose since they are on the same side of the March-April separation)

little Naruto would probably be really uncomfortable with human touch at first because the only kind he’s ever know is cold and sends shudders down even his spine sometimes. Warmth is something he’s always craved, but it’s lack has made it feel like too much. Though oddly enough, it’s only in certain situations. Lord thirds hand in his hair, Mizuki’s resting between his shoulder blades. Too much.

I hate everything. How DARE that hurt so much. Just fuckkkk

The only time warmth felt comfortable was when he pressed up against Hound-San, who felt enough like Uncle Sakumo that Naruto could forget the too hot feeling that made shoulder pats or side hugs feel so… weird.

Hashirama and Naruto hold funerals for the dead plants with the ghosts their named after crying in the background. Whenever a new generation is sent off, they get a speech for their “bravery and valor” and are thanked for their “sacrifice for the cause” which is making Kakashi happy.

while waiting for kakashi to show up for team meetings, absently says Hatake Kakashi three times (an easy way to get the ghosts attention) and the second he’s done Kakashi shows up. He starts doing it more and somehow every time it works.

If you could choose a favorite oc of yours, who would it be? Can you send refs of them? Talk a bit about them, please

Omg, this is probably my first genuine ask that is not related to ask games, pretty excited right now, not gonna lie. ;-; Before I answer, I'd like to thank you for dropping an ask and for the interest, this means so so much to me. ♥ While my biggest obsession has been Attack On Titan for years now, my favourite OC is Myline, my Naruto fan character. Here is her reference sheet, I commissioned Xcaeli for this one:

Visually speaking, she has a pretty simple design with some Uchiha blood in her, nothing really impressive about her, just another character with black hair that shares blood with the Uchiha clan, but for me she is perfect!

This girl was also the first OC I ever created, I have had her for 17 years, which is crazy! Her design changed only a bit as she has my favourite combo, aka black hair + red eyes, but her personality and story has changed several times over the years.

She is from my own fanmade village, which I called Yamigakure, an independent village that is now part of Ame No Kuni (fan name people use for the country of rain) after years of war and colonization attempts. She is the result of an affair between Yashiro Uchiha (who was among the ninjas that Konoha sent to Yamigakure to help protect the village from the invaders, a last resort mission that Yamigakure paid for) and her mother, Yabuza Mizuno, so she is fruit of a betrayal.

She loses her family to the war and is rescued by old Madara, who knew about Yashiro's affair and decided she'd probably be helpful for his future plans, later on he also rescues Obito and asks him to keep her alive once he is gone for their own future benefit. She is Obito's disciple.

She is an Akatsuki member, which makes her a villain, however, her character is full of nuances and has valid reasons for her goals in my opinion. She is a grumpy introvert and her lack of social skills mostly come from the negligence she suffered during her childhood and youth, while she looks very intimidating to strangers, she cares a lot and is extremely loyal to the few she loves and literally lives for them, sometimes she feels like she is no one, like she is just a shadow of Obito.

She is an extremely avid reader, books and ninja history are her passion and she is known for stealing books during her missions. As someone who was raised in poverty, inequality and oppression were not strangers to her, such life experiences made her respect the poor and the oppressed, especially the ones that can't do much about it, such as kids and the eldery. Whenever she can, she is seen helping people around Amegakure, not only with groceries but also with books as she believes that everyone should read more, so she likes to encourage people to do so, she is also often seen teaching children how to read and write as most parents can't afford education. And omg, I just realized I talked too much already, I didn't even realize it, I'm so sorry for the long answer!

Oh my gosh I am having so much trouble with finding decent refs for just, random streets in pre-Pain Konoha... I'm literally having to reread the manga (not a complaint there btw) but every good search shows aerial views, and like. I need google street view for konoha y'all.

I don't want that second panel to be in that spot, that's just like a filler background until I can get something better in place.

just a minor update on my life: my aunt is getting more ab*sive than she usually is, and it’s really stressful esp with school and all

Genuinely this is why I would kill for a scene where Sasuke calls Naruto out on this. Because 1. Sasuke is the only one emotionally perceptive enough of Naruto to understand that this, the fear of loneliness, is what drives pretty much everything Naruto does. Sasuke even sees how the Shadow Clone technique is Naruto compensating for the lack of human love in his life.

2. Sasuke has been in the position Naruto’s in now, admired by Konoha, so he knows that it feels empty. Because it is empty. Naruto has wanted this popularity since he was a child because he thought that it would solve all of his problems. It would fill him with love, and he’d be happy. But he’s still unsatisfied and lonely. In some ways, he’s more isolated than he was before, put on a pedestal, elevated above everyone else. Dehumanized in the opposite direction.

3. Sasuke is looking for any reason to keep Naruto at a distance, and Naruto protecting the people who ordered the genocide of Sasuke’s entire clan and then covered it up is perfect. Why wouldn’t Sasuke bring that up when Naruto tries to say that they’re friends? That would be my first argument. Naruto has no right to call himself Sasuke’s friend.

4. Sasuke is supposed to challenge Naruto like this! Sasuke and Naruto’s dynamic is set up specifically in a way that pushes their characters, forces them to grow and learn from each other’s different feelings, perspectives, and ideologies. Neither of them is supposed to be all Right and all Wrong. They’re Yin and Yang. They’re supposed to highlight each other’s strengths and weaknesses. Sasuke faces his trauma. He expresses his anger and hurt. He considers his own feelings. Naruto could learn from him. Naruto should continue to change as a character because of Sasuke.

5. If anyone is going to give Naruto a brutally honest “the reason you suck” speech, it’s Sasuke. And if Naruto is going to listen to anyone, it’s Sasuke. Naruto cares a lot about Sasuke’s opinion, and if Sasuke is straight up like, you’re a coward, you care more about having everyone’s approval than doing anything about the injustice in front of you, you are so petrified of being alone you would swallow all the bullshit Konoha feeds you, you think if everyone acknowledges you it will fill the void in your heart and make up for all the pain but it won’t and it hasn’t because it’s not real love and it never will be, you have the audacity to call yourself my friend when you are friends with the people who slaughtered everyone I love, you disgust me and are certainly not my friend, like. I think that would really Hit. Knock Naruto flat on his ass. Devastated but incapable of ignoring his own issues after that, especially if he wants to reach Sasuke.

Sasuke calling Naruto out on the crap he refuses to face or admit is maybe the ONLY way I could realistically see Naruto start to critically examine himself in Shippuden. Because Naruto won’t do it for himself. The above scene with Kushina is proof to me that the Waterfall of Truth accomplished nothing because Naruto clearly harbors anger towards Konoha but hasn’t accepted it in any way that allows him to express anger on his own behalf.

Naruto is right, and I hate how it’s resolved/brushed over with “being a jinchuriki is fine if you are filled with love” like. Okay emotionally perhaps that solves a problem, makes it bearable, but it doesn’t do anything about the politics creating this suffering in the first place. Nobody should even be in this situation. People, kids, should not be experimented on and turned into weapons of mass destruction for the sake of maintaining a balance of power between other nations. That’s fucked up and needs to go, and even if Naruto won’t get angry on his own behalf, he recognizes that this is wrong. He projects on and gets angry for other people. He KNOWS. But then?? Kushina says it’s okay because she’s loved?? And it was okay of Minato to do that to Naruto because it was out of love?? When it wasn’t for love but for politics?? Kushina wanting to die to spare Naruto a fate of loneliness and pain is an act of love. Minato sealing the nine-tails inside Naruto to keep Konoha strong is not. And, from a character standpoint, that’s fine if Minato is not exempt from propaganda and brainwashing. It’s more interesting if he’s NOT a perfect person or father. But he’s not condemned for this decision. Kushina is glad that Naruto doesn’t resent her or Minato for turning him into a jinchuriki, when he has every right to, and this is the resolution to this debacle, I guess. I’ve no idea if this is ever brought up again. Does Naruto think what was done to him and so many others is still wrong? I understand that it’s bad to hold on to rage and hatred, but letting go of that and moving on doesn’t mean you have to forgive what was done to you, and it shouldn’t mean it’s OK for this to happen again. Naruto, the series and character, is always so close to holding the corrupt system and political figures accountable for this crap and then just doesn’t.
