Fluffy HC to cleanse thine inbox: Sonic visits angel island as much as he can to make sure Knuckles is doing ok. Sometimes he even offers to do "Emeraldsitting" (keep an eye n the master emerald) for the echidna.

YESSSS I think about this a lot, about friends visiting knuckles when they can to keep him company and remind him that they're there and he's not alone....

tails loves to Learn and knuckles has so much obscure knowledge in his head, especially about angel island, and it's nice to actually talk about it with someone!!! and to just be around someone while not fighting to stop the world from ending!! lot of parallel play happening between them

when theyre both older I think knuckles would trust tails to watch over the m.e. just for a little bit. as long as he doesnt try to mess around and make a fake version of it like he did with the chaos emeralds. tails who now knows its not a good idea to fuck with any of that, at least not while he's alone, very solemnly swears

There's one really cool parallel that I don't think even the filmmakers realized, and that's Robotnik breaking into the house with a laser thing and taunting Sonic long enough for Knuckles to get an open on him: Tails does the exact same thing to him in the Death Egg Robot

YOOO I DIDNT NOTICE THAT EITHER.... that's so nice. he started off full of anger and hurt, working with a man who was tricking him, and now he's working with his new friends who he trusts, in order to protect something, rather than the goal being to kill someone as revenge :)

and also like the fact that knuckles KNOWS its a strategy that works, since it worked the first time around akdjdkdk
