leader and dj of the band, nami is reserved and often unnoticed. she isn’t used to socializing, as she lives alone and has for most of her life, as well as not really having friends. she seems detached from most things due to both depression and not wanting to become attached only to lose the things and people she loves.

kiyoko aiuchi:

a free-spirited, cheerful bassist, kiyoko joined the band on a whim as a way to better her own skills. she takes it as her personal mission to get nami used to the world, but understands that it’s hard for her. she’s gay about it. insecure about her own skills and has a tendency to take this out on others. a little bossy, but only because she loves her friends and wants what’s best for them.

sayaka hitachi:

vocalist and guitarist of the band, sayaka often comes off as cold and unapproachable. she pushes people anyway because she thinks she doesn’t need anyone but herself. can be controlling only because she feels like she has none in her own life, often butting heads with what kiyoko feels is best.

aoi ishikawa:

warm and caring, aoi is the older sister figure slash keyboardist of the band. she clashes with sayaka a lot of the time, as the oldest two of the band, due to their opposing ideals and personalities. very well known and loved around town. deeply passionate about the band and the first one besides nami to really take it seriously.

nanako ikutsuki:

drummer and resident gamer of the band, nanako is childish and often seen as immature. despite this, she’s a little short-tempered, getting angry when people don’t listen to her or treat her like a child. viewed as the band’s moral support due to her nearly unwavering positivity, though she learns that not everything is sunshine and rainbows.

🤎​All you receive from Illumi after you have told him that the two of you can't be together because he is a man is that long and blank stare accompanied with the wonderful awkward silence that disables you to speak up. Frankly spoken, Illumi doesn't care too much about the fact that he has fallen in love with another man. No, he is quite confused instead as he doesn't understand why you instead reject him despite feeling the same. The way he tilts his head would be almost cute if his eyes wouldn't pierce your very soul at the moment. When he eventually asks you if you could explain it to him all whilst he finally blinks threateningly slow the tension in the air is so thick that you could cut it with a knife. No matter how you explain it to him though, your words hold no weight in his mind. The only thing that matters to him is the fact that you reciprocate his emotions and if someone within your surroundings stops the two of you, he will kill them. It's as simple as that. Once you are within the walls of the Zoldyck mansion Illumi will make sure that no one questions the two of you. As long as he fucks someone and has some heirs he is free to love whoever he wants after all.

Pokkle

🏹​Pokkle goes through the five stages of grief only that he never arrives at the stage of acceptance. He's in denial at the beginning because within all of his infatuation and all the insecurities somehow he never once considered that maybe you wouldn't feel attracted to him simply because he is of the same sex as you are. After the denial follows immediately the depression as he retreats from your sight. By no means is he avoiding you though, still stalking behind you though with a lot more grief within his heart. It's very likely that he is soon going to reach a breaking point though. You see, Pokkle is very much dependent on attention and love from his darling which will ultimately lead his mind to be able to only repeat one thing. That you still love him. Love conquers anything after all so why would you let yourself be stopped just because he is biologically a man? As soon as he starts drifting into that thought process it is over for you as that is the moment Pokkle will turn densely delusional out of desperation. An abduction will follow soon after as Pokkle is convinced that you just need to realise that it doesn't matter that the two of you are both men as he will prove to you that he is better than a woman.

Amane Misa

💄​Whatever it is that you say to her it all becomes irrelevant in her mind the moment you make the mistake of confessing to her that you feel the same as she does. Misa immediately latches on to those words as they are the only words she hears. Misa is awfully possessive of her darling and delusional to top it all which is a dangerous combination. The first thing that she does as soon as you have ended your speech is just give you a long and giddy kiss as she decides to ignore whatever it was you spoke after admitting to her that you love her too. Why, you may ask? Because it doesn't matter to her. You return her feelings and that is all that she really needs to hear and know. Still, it is not like she is completely oblivious as you notice that she is so much clingier and affectionate whenever the two of you are around other men. Her facade is still all cute smiles but there is that dangerous look in her eyes. Jealousy is as natural as breathing for Misa and if she believes that someone is threatening your relationship, she will write his name down in her Death Note. So even if you try to get together with a man, she will ensure that he is going to drop dead in the most gruesome way possible.

Uraraka Ochaco

🎈​Ochaco considered the two of you to be a wonderful match. You have known each other for so long after all. In her mind there has never been a question about who she would end up with later on in her life but she realises that she has been too optimistic when you tell her that you cannot see yourself with her because she is also a girl. She swallows it all down though and only gives you a weak smile, assuring you that it's alright. Obviously the relationship takes a turn for the worse between the two of you and she can't accept that. Something has to be done or else she is going to lose you completely. Obviously she will feel guilty the moment she starts subtly sabotaging and manipulating you but whenever she meets a guy you like, she is hard-wired to notice everything about him that you wouldn't like later on because she knows you too well. Small mistakes like inviting you to food that you don't like are already enough to have her doubt that you will be happy with him. She starts pointing out everything about appearance or personality on a guy that she knows you don't like and always speaks up when he does something you don't like to show you that she knows you best after all.

Hinata Shoyo

☀️​Being heavily delusional by nature, someone like Hinata is going to be difficult to handle when it comes to any type of rejection in general. All of it is made much worse though when you foolishly confess to feeling the same way as he does though. Even as you tell him that the two of you can't be together and even if his heart is hurting, Hinata doesn't feel any despair. How could he after all? If the love between the two of you is mutual after all then there is nothing he has to be worried about. That settles it in Shoyo's mind. The two of you are a couple and the very next morning he is totally going to act his part of it. He's elated, a bright grin on his face as he tells all his friends that you reciprocate his feelings. He's affectionate, grabs your hands and hugs you from behind. Rumors quickly spread which leave you no choice but to confront him, absolutely flabbergasted and in shock from what he has done. If you are going to get angry with him be prepared for the waterworks though as Hinata will just yell back that you told him that you loved him. Why does sex even matter then when the both of you feel the same? You... you wouldn't drop him only to be together with a girl after all, would you?

Shimizu Kiyoko

🖤​Kiyoko keeps a stoic expression when you admit to her your inner conflict before just giving you a curt nod and leaving. She is not someone who openly reveals her affection for you as she is for starters aware that her feelings aren't exactly your typical highschool romance and additionally she prefers observation as she would never confess mindlessly only to get her feelings hurt. In that moment she is glad that she has never revealed just how much you mean to her as otherwise things between the two of you would have been much more awkward. However, she is not completely hurt as the fact remains that you still love her too. That is something that she can work with. There is after all a path that can be taken in this situation and all she has to do is build it now. Perhaps it is time to step out of her shell and show you just how much she cares about you and how well she knows you. She will swiftly and bluntly point out everything at fault within a guy when you introduce him to her the moment she notices that he says or does something you are uncomfortable with all whilst she herself inserts herself more into your life, providing the support and assistance that you need in that moment.

Fujioka Haruhi

👑​Haruhi is to her defence not going to be your biggest worry that you have in the beginning. I would consider Tamaki to be the bigger menace at first when he finds out that Haruhi has been dumped by you because she is a girl. He's extremely protective of her and is most likely going to tell you multiple sob stories in the hope that you may reconsider your words. To Haruhi herself gender has never really mattered that much as she doesn't think that it should restrict someone within society, a very open-minded opinion that you don't seem to share. To her it has never mattered that you are a girl but it matters to you and a part of her understands where those prejudices may come from. It is not within Haruhi's assets to beat around the bush though, she is going to be very straightforward and ask you soon for a clearer reason for why exactly you can't be together with her. If you wouldn't be into girls it would be one thing but since you have confessed to her that you return her love she knows that this isn't the case which is why she is unwilling to give up. She's still friendly and welcoming but Haruhi is very stubborn and the topic will come up in conversations since she doesn't see the need to lie.

Mikata Asa

▪️​Asa isn't in general known as someone who deals with failure or anything that doesn't go her way very well so this is initially not going to end up any better. The moment you tell her that you can't be together with you her initial reaction is to simply insult you and everyone she knows you have a friendly relationship with. All of her pain is buried deep within as she exposes her mean-spirited side before she walks away with her chin held high. Her meltdown only happens once she is all alone and has no one to project her pain on anymore, spiralling down into her hole of insecurity and self-hatred. She wants to prove herself as worthy, she wants you to choose her but she lacks any comprehension of social skills to do so. However, if there is one thing that she latches on to it is the fact that you admitted that you still love her even though you can't be with her. That has to mean something, doesn't it? It's those words she clings to, it's those words that push her to go on with a constant mixture of anger, jealousy and hope within her. She stalks you everywhere you go, she insults every man that gets too close with you all whilst she tries in a severely wrong attempt to show you her worth.

Bachira Meguru

💛​I'll just be honest and say right away that he is not going to care about what you have to say. Bachira gladly allows his delusional streak to solve all problems for him which allows for such an unmatched level of optimism which you would better not break. You just have to make it worse by admitting to him your own feelings which only solidifies everything within Bachira's thoughts as his actions from that day on are justified. You love him so there should be no problem at all for any of his actions after all. If you try to avoid him the best of luck because this guy is going to pop up everywhere where you are. Not to mention the lovely surprise visits that he likes to do, appearing unannounced in front of your door and asking to be let in with a grin on his face. He's so handsy with you, it is almost maddening. Meguru is constantly touching you somehow. He jumps on your back from behind, he tugs at your sleeves when he wants attention, he grabs your hand in his and drags you away from someone that he finds annoying. You're not going to be able to shake him off as Meguru is the human definition of a leech who won't let go. His behavior is very risky to be honest.

Itoshi Rin

🩵​Differently from Bachira Rin is much more subtle with everything though perhaps that is going to make him more dangerous than disturbing. He leaves you alone after your rejection but you would misjudge the situation severely if you were to believe that he is trying to accept everything. It's actually the complete opposite as Rin tries to tame his own demons and think of a way to get you back to his side. He can't let things slip through his hands, he can't let every single person leave him in the dust just because he isn't enough, isn't what others want him to be. It's that desperation that drives him quite far in any attempt to assure that you don't get any saying. What I'm trying to say is that after having watched the second season and having seen his flow that I believe Rin to get very destructive when he snaps which then puts everyone around you at a risk because his sole drive then is to destroy everyone who stands in his way. He starts blackmailing all sorts of people and he won't even have enough care left to spare your closed ones and you yourself get a very good slice of this ugly side of his that contrasts his normal stoic behavior on every single level.

you press a kiss to his lips again, instantly allowing his pout to fade. “there… happy pretty boy?”

he nods and takes your hand, intertwining your fingers as you walk back into the gym. “good luck baby…”

you squeeze his hand and he squeezes yours back, giving you a kiss on the cheek before returning to his side of the gym.

AZUMANE ASAHI

though he’s very shy, asahi loves a good luck kiss from his s/o. it relieves some of, if not all his anxiety he has about the game in general. seeing you in the crowd really helps him out too!

“babe!” you yell out, waving to him.

his anxiety seems to melt the second his eyes lay on you. he waves back at you, about to turn his attention to his team, when you yell out his name again. he excuses himself and runs over to you.

“everything okay sweetpea?” his brows furrow and you let out a giggle, nodding at him.

“yes baby. everything is perfect. i just want to give you this!” you stand up on your lip toes, barely reaching his chin as you try to give him a kiss of good luck.

asahi realizes what you’re doing and blushes, leaning down so your lips meet his. this kiss is quick and innocent, but still leaves the giant and intimidating man flustered.

“g-give me a kiss?” he asks.

you nod, smiling at him.

“thank you sweetpea, i’ll see you after the game okay?” he asks again.

you nod. “i’ll see you then, good luck babe!”

the rest of the warm-ups and game, he thought of your lips on his, and he was at ease.

SHIMIZU KIYOKO

even though kiyoko no longer plays sports and is just a team manager, she still appreciates a good luck kiss from you before a game begins.

you walk into the hallway outside of the gym and see kiyoko filling up water bottles at the water fountain. she looks so focused and concentrated you almost do not want to approach her, but she sees you before you can turn back around.

“hi y/n!” she smiles and waves you over to her.

“hey love. how are you?” you ask once you’ve made your way to her.

she lets out a sigh and looks up at you. “i’m a little bit worried for the team tonight. this will be a tough game and i just hope that i can do my best to encourage them and help them stay positive.”

you put your hands on kiyoko’s shoulders and turn her towards you. her eyes widen and cheeks flush. you meet her grey eyes and stare into them. 

“kiyo... you’re one of the strongest and most kind people i know. you do so well as manager. those guys feel so reassured with you by their side to cheer them on. do not doubt yourself.” you end your sentence with a kiss to her lips.

you can feel her shoulders relax under your grip as she kisses you back. after a minute or so, you pull away and smile at her. 

“that’s my girl... you feel much more relaxed now...” you whisper.

she pushes her glasses up her nose and nods. “yeah... thank you for the good luck kiss...”

you nod. “i’ll be in the gym!”

you run off with a smile on your face and take a seat in the bleachers.

a summer trip they think of fondly: when she was in middle school, skye got invited along on a road trip to montana with a friend from cheerleading and their family. they had a cabin in this cute small town where she had the bestest time horseback riding, hiking, and just general relaxing

their favorite disney princess: skye adores princess jasmine a lot due to the two of them having fiery dispositions and no time for bullshit, but she also loves snow white a lot and loudly defends her whenever someone makes a crack (it could also be that snow white reminds her a lot of lucy)

the first song they would dance to with their partner at their wedding: i don't know why, but i can totally see skye and lucy going off-script and playing what i need by hayley kiyoko and kehlani because it's their song

if they have tattoos or piercings: i can totally see skye getting some tattoos when she goes to college (definitely a dragon for Hephaestus and maybe a dagger on fire for her and lucy), and as for piercings, she has three piercings on each ear with a helix piercing on her right ear

the scariest moment in their life: definitely when allison was missing in prince caspian; she was terrified that something horrible had happened to her sister that she dissolved into a panic attack upon reuniting with the Pevensies along with isaac

if they would break the law: to be honest, i think all three lewis siblings could have the potential of breaking the law (it just depends on what law they'd be breaking), but i would say that shockingly skye would be the one who wouldn't do it as often as allison or even isaac

their favorite reality show (because everyone secretly has one): when cheer came out, skye was so excited because FINALLY a reality show about her favorite sport (she's also a fan of love island)

if they have a favorite chore: probably cleaning her bedroom because she can put her favorite songs on and dance around while cleaning

if they like being in pictures and what faces they make in them: skye HATES taking pictures; anytime she is forced to be in one, her stormcloud face is on where she looks like she's one pic away from having a meltdown

if they get along with kids: skye can be a bit awkward at first when around children, but she loosens up after a while and becomes "fave auntie skye"

"it just looks a little silly..." kiyoko trails off as yachi gives another twirl. the dress covering the blonde swallowed her whole — covered every inch of her figure in this gaudy yellow that clashed with her hair. kiyoko's smile grows crooked, "why don't i find something for you?"

"oh, me too!" you grin from the clothing rack you're in front of. you shake your head, putting the polka-dotted material back before facing the two of them. "let's make it fun! i'll pick something for you two ; yachi for me and 'ko ; and so on and so forth."

yachi bounces in place with a grin before she bolts back into the dressing room, throwing the awful dress over the door. she rushes out just as quick, a handful of clothes in her arms as she pants, "i'm going to make you two look so pretty!"

kiyoko eyes the yellow dress with disdain. "...if that's what you think."

the three of you disperse, collecting any item that catches your eyes. soon enough, you've got a pile weighing own your arms as you head back to the dressing rooms. kiyoko is already there, standing at the one in the middle. you place her chosen pieces down with a wink — she rolls her eyes fondly, but the pink coating her cheeks says she's flattered.

yachi comes strutting into the small hallway with a triumphant grin. backing into your own dressing room, you hum along to the song that's playing as you sort through the two piles.

wearing a stripped, rainbow sweater is yachi, the cropped hem ending just before the start of the denim skirt she's wearing. it looks so cute as she turns in the mirror that you can't help your grin.

"don't you just look darling!" you sneak up behind her, a flurry of kisses settling onto her flushed cheeks. a little giggle escapes her lips, only to get caught into a gasp. you look up, seeing kiyoko's reflection walking up behind you. your eyes widen, "well, hello gorgeous."

yachi lets out a strangled noise — "i love girls." it's said in a whisper, but you both catch it anyways.

the laugh kiyoko lets out makes her shine even brighter. a light blue tulle dress is lapping over her entirely, brushing the floor with every step she makes, silver stars shining with every sway of the skirt. she places a kiss on your cheek, then yachi's forhead before admiring your new outfit. "suits you well," kiyoko hums.

"next!" yachi bounces again as she races back into the dressing room. you hear her shout soon after, "oh, this color is so nice!"

frowning down at your new outfit, you know it's kiyoko's pick. there's a lilac scarf laying on top of a silky wrap top — both of which you're unsure what to do with. you lean to the left, "'ko, can you help me out with this?"

her answer isn't verbal, but it's immediate. kiyoko knocks softly on the door, squeezing herself in to prevent yachi from seeing your new fit. her eyes gleam when she sees you only in your undergarments. "seducing me now, [name]?"

another choked sound leaves yachi. you can hear her complaining outside, "i wanna be seduced! so unfair."

kiyoko wraps the scarf around your neck, tying it softly to the side. next, she helps you shove your arms through the wrap top, tying it as well. midnight blue eyes observe you tenderly, raspberry colored lips placing themselves on your own soon after. a single word is spoken against your lips. "perfect."

you leave the room, grin so wide your cheeks squish against your eyes. yachi's jaw drops as she sees you, a line of drool leaving her mouth as kiyoko slides up beside you.

"have i said it lately?" yachi whispers. she puts her hands into a prayer motion, eyes focused on the ceiling — the pose reminds you of old classmates. "i. love. girls."

"you've said that so many times!"

"at least five times since we've been at this store alone," you roll your eyes with a grin. swinging your arm around the blonde's shoulders you look at your reflections once more. "we are pretty hot, though."

"exactly!"

— picnic ♥︎ kuina —

fresh flowers sway in the wind as you lay the patterend blanket onto the grass. you squint into the distance, cursing yourself for forgetting a pair of sunglasses. kuina finally appears in your vision, head moving back and forth as she scours the field around her.

a bouquet of colorful wild flowers are shoved into your eyesight as you sit on the blanket. kuina smiles softly, "for you."

"how sweet." you grin back as she finally sits down. she lets out a sigh, leaning back on her hands as she soaks up the warmth of the sun. you take one of the flowers — a pretty, pink one — and tuck it behind her hair. "the sweetest girl."

kuina lets out a whine, allowing her arms to lose their strength as she collapses completely onto the blanket. "can't flirt with me already, [name] ; we jus' got here!"

your grin widens before you lean down to press a kiss to her cheek. "sorry, 'kari. you're just so pretty, i can't help it!"

she glares at you briefly — the scowl melts quickly into a smile as she sits up. "i got usagi to help out with the food. wanted to make you somethin' instead of buying it."

you crinkle your nose, "didn't let arisu help out, did she?"

pausing — she'd just opened the picnic basket — kuina straightens up. "um... i hope not. dig in!"

depite your slight hesitance, the food was actually good. the area slowly went from a bright yellow to a hazed, dusty pink. you watch the sunset with glee, cheeks stuffed with the food kuina had made you.

she was only staring at you.

the right side of your mouth quirks up as the frogs begin to sing. "not watching the sunset, hikari."

she tucks her legs to her chest, chin on her knees as she gazes at you. kuina tilts her head as her eyes study you still. "have a better view is all."

"now who's flirting, huh?"

the sun hat on your head isn't big enough to shelter your eyes from the sun's rays completely. from behind your sunglasses, you glare as people walk by your partner and stare.

crossing your arms over your chest, you stomp to the sand. haruhi looks up innocently — cluelessly, "hi, [name]. having fun?"

you glare again — they're unphased as they continue to search for seashells. their dad had mentioned liking shells recently — he'd hate them and the collected sand soon, but haruhi grabbed them regardless.

"if i get bit by a crab , it's all your fault, you know." you're still scowling ; still pouting as strangers gain interest of the beauty in front of you. "stupid strawberry swimsuit. stupid haruhi for being too cute."

haruhi blinks up at you again before standing, "don't be mean and grumpy."

"i will be!" you're acting childish, you know. but haruhi was your eye candy — anyone else's staring felt icky and wrong. "gonna tell your dad to ground you."

"then how will we go on dates?"

you swat your hand carelessly as haruhi moves spots. they crouch again, eyes peeled for the perfect shell. "i'm the acception ; he loves me."

haruhi pauses their search with a thoughtful gaze. "you were always his favorite of my friends."

"and now," your voice gets a little louder as you look around the beach, "we're more than friends! happily in love! together for years!"

standing again, haruhi hides their laugh behind their hand. composing themselves, they drop their hand until their fingers are laced with yours. they tug you close, placing a quick kiss to your cheek before releasing you completely. "you're cute, [name]."

you're back in the shade, hat lowered even more on your face as you sit there. you can hear haruhi talking mindlessly to other people, but are no longer phased. the brief kiss given to you was more than enough to deter your jealous thoughts.

— funk jungle ♥︎ sarah —

bernie is behind the dj booth as funk jungle booms to life. a drink is in your hand as you maneuver through the crowd. your head bops joyfully — smiles sent to familiar faces as you fight your way through.

only to stop dead in your tracks.

ice is sitting across from sarah — in your seat — talking to her with a look so tender. you frown at the sight, eyes narrowing before a slight nudge hits your shoulder. pho nods his head their way, "get your girl!"

he's gone within the next second, but your confidence has been boosted enough. you take a sip of your drink, stepping closer to the duo. ice glances at you, but his gaze focuses back on sarah soon enough. your eyes narrow again — he doesn't even see you as competition.

sarah flinches when a chin is placed on her shoulder, relaxing instantly when she smells your perfume. you sigh against her ear, placing your half-empty drink on the bar beside her, "'m bored, sarah. wanna get out of here?"

it's like he's invisible — like his knee isn't knocking against hers as sarah focuses on you completely. she isn't even looking your way and you have her wrapped around your finger. ice lets out a sigh as he looks away — bernie's laugh echoes into the microphone at the sight.

she barely turns her head as she speaks. "and go where?"

you groan, leaning more of your weight onto her back. "literally anywhere else. pho's busy dancing, and you're the only other person here i like."

sarah hums as she takes a sip of her drink, "i'm your favorite? i'm flattered, pretty."

nose pressed to her neck, you hope she can't feel how your cheeks heat up. a quiet, embarrassed whine escapes your throat as you admit how much you like her. "my number one — thought it was obvious."

her drink is gone within a blink as she tips it back, gulping it down. standing from the barstool, sarah holds her hand out to you. "let's find somethin' fun to do, hm?"

you eagerly comply, lacing your fingers with hers. leaning into her, you sandwich sarah's hand between both of yours as you get comfortable. "would love nothin' more!"

— study day ♥︎ hinata —

"bored. 'm so bored, hina."

the peach haired girl looks up from her book with a raised brow. she's heard you say that excat sentence too many times already — and you'd only been at her house for an hour. "[name], why don't you study like we said we would?"

"but," you roll onto your back, crumpling your own papers. hinata sighs, shuffling further across her bed so you had room. "why would i do that when i have a perfect, kissable girl right beside me?"

her cheeks flame up, bright pink hitting them as she shoves you gently. "stop that!"

you wiggle your eyebrows, rolling onto your stomach. "is my plan working? can we stop learning now?"

hinata sighs, her attention very obviously on your face and not her notes. "how about this — we'll doodle for a bit and then get back to work. deal?"

nodding enthusiastically, you sit up and watch as hinata grabs a sheet of paper. she folds it into four pieces longways before taking another piece and doing the same. "we'll swtich when we're done with a section. and no peeking, [name]!"

you mock her a little before grabbing a glittery pen and your folded paper. starting out, you draw a pointed oval shape, doodling until it becomes a stereotypical alien head. hinata waits, switching papers once you're done. you draw a torso next, creating pretty butterfly-like wings on their back.

keeping with your supernatural theme, you create lanky legs and a lizard tail next. your last doodle is of hooves — sparkly and ready to trample anyone. folding the papers out, you aren't sure what to think. hinata tilts her head at the mix of supernatural and realistic elements.

"well..." she purses her lips a little. "they're kinda cute."

you blink, speaking blankly, "these are what my dream creatures look like."

the peach haired girl beams your way, "what fun dreams! has your bordeom been conquered?"

shaking your head, you snuggle into her, leaning your weight onto her fully. "kinda jus' wanna kiss my pretty girlfriend. can i do that, hina?"

her face lights up pink once more. "study time! time to study! learning and stuff!"

Obey Me! Song Analyses - Pomade

I absolutely love the songs released for this game, and have wanted to look into them a little deeper for quite a while! I'm starting off with the character song I've listened to the most - Asmodeus' character song, Pomade. While I technically should be starting with Arcadia... I'm kind of having Asmo brainrot right now, and want to talk about him ♡

This is probably my favourite OM! character song, though I am definitely biased (since Asmo is one of my absolute faves and I just LOVE Miura Ayme's singing and voice acting ^^;) but also, this song just suits Asmo so, so, so, so well!! 

For starters, the title is super interesting - Pomade. It's a clever reflection of Asmo's interests and focus (beauty, and specifically his *own* beauty.) And while this may be a bit of a reach, it also makes me think of his characterization, in how a pomade is often perfumed and is used to control hair, much like Asmo with his powers, both in terms of his ability to charm and his own perfume(s).

The genre choice is also perfect for this song. The soft, kind of… slightly seductive(?) synthpop-ish sound suits him well, especially with the gentle, yet upbeat instrumentals and vocals. It reminds me a lot of some of Hayley Kiyoko's music, actually, especially songs like Ease My Mind and Sleepover. (side note: Asmo would loooooooove her music. I'm 100% sure of it!!)

And if I could just go on about the vocals a little more, ahdkfaglsfh they're perfect. Not only is Miura's singing always amazing, his singing as Asmodeus is absolutely gorgeous!! it has such a different quality to his other songs, and is so wonderfully… bubbly, almost?? I just adore it. (Also, his vocal range is incredible, omgg ♡ The notes at the end of the chorus are SO clear and beautiful...)

However, it's the lyrics that really make me love this song. Like in all the songs the team has released, the internal thoughts and motivations of the character are made SO clear!! I feel as though Pomade shows a more vulnerable side to Asmo than we usually see in the game (which, as a side note, I feel as though his character development is a lot less... I don't know, noticeable? than the others? It's a little sad.) The lyrics do show his self-centeredness, narcissism, and his role as a demon, but that is more towards the beginning of the song. It's almost as though throughout the piece, there is a gradual acceptance on Asmo's part of his feelings, rather than his expectations of what he "should" feel. This is made especially clear with how the repeated lyrics shift, and how the chorus changes each time. 

For instance, the line in the first verse “Kimi wa boku no toriko” (“You're my captive”, or in the official translation, “For now, you're mine”) becomes the reverse (“I'm your captive" / “I'm yours”) in the second verse, which is a MAJOR thing for him to not only feel, but actually acknowledge to be true! The same can be said for how he goes from speaking about wanting to be seen and admired by you, to wanting to admire you instead.

It's also so interesting how the chorus changes each time, with the lyrics becoming more and more affectionate each repetition: 

“No matter who you are You're no match for me There is nobody but myself That is enough for me” 

turning into 

“Even if it's you You're still no match for me There is nobody but myself That I can fall for”, 

then finally,

“No matter who you are I want you to show me I fell in love with someone Besides myself for the first time” 

in the last chorus. Each repetition, he becomes more and more aware of his feelings, and more and more vulnerable, with his pride and ego giving way to genuine affection. He truly goes from being the charmer, to being charmed himself.

I just absolutely love this song, both for how well is showcases my darling Asmo, and just how nice of a song it is to listen to ^^
