Okay and also—psychology is literally a fucking quack profession. My college had a really large really reputable psych department and I didn’t know a single person in that department who seemed to have any idea what they were talking about, student or professor. I took one of the psych classes when I was in my second year, it was the class required for all psych majors, and it was genuinely the most disheartening eye opening class I’ve ever taken. They didn’t teach us SHIT except for BULLSHIT weird biases and literal eugenics. To be clear, my prof was THE CHAIR OF THE PSYCH DEPARTMENT. at an accredited private college. With years and years and years of experience. In neuropsychology. She showed us a video like an interview with someone with debilitating OCD talking about their experience w life and motherhood, and at the end of the video, she asked, “do you think this person’s life is worth living? Given her quality of life, is it worth it?” She asked that verbatim, I still remember it. And then this class of fucking college educated fucking 20somethings had a WHOLE CONVERSATION about it, people were legit raising their hands and saying no, this doesn’t seem worth it, she shouldn’t be a mother, she shouldn’t have kids, it doesn’t seem like her quality of life is worth living, and nobody fucking said anything else until I raised my hand and said something to the effect of shame on you all this is literal eugenics. At which point the prof said no, I’m sorry if it came off that way, this is a strictly hypothetical and intellectual conversation. Even though it was about a real actual woman. This happened with a doc we watched about a bipolar man as well, where my fucking psych major classmates, all dead set on going into the professional word of psychiatry and psychology, were like, he seems like a danger to others, he should be forcibly locked up. It was insanity. This was a REQUIRED class for the department. In the PowerPoint where they talked about eating disorders, she had a picture of a woman taking off a fat suit. I learned nothing in this class except for how absolutely untrustworthy this field is. I passed my final exam with a 99% without studying because there’s no fucking real science behind it it’s all just “what would the implicit bias be.” The SINGLE point I missed on the exam was a question about Freudian psychology and how it can be applied to modern psychology and it was a multiple choice question and I chose the wrong answer bc I remember looking at the right answer and thinking “surely not even these people can be that fucking stupid.”

Also, in this professor’s real life examples section of the lesson we did on personality disorders, her ONLY TWO REAL LIFE EXAMPLES were fucking Spock, from Star Trek, and the Joker. From the film… The Joker.

Thinking about DP x DC Jason Todd being a revenant again. Here's my scenario. Jason gets called that by some ghost. He's like "what the fuck is that supposed to mean?" He's heard the term before but he doesn't know any actual lore. He googles it. He scrolls past the Leonardo DiCaprio bear movie. He opens the wiki. Sees the words "animated corpse" and gets a chill diwn his spine. He starts reading the first section.

He closes Wikipedia.

That night he has a nightmare that his family buried him, again, this time with precautions. He wakes up in his own grave, full of stones, too heavy to move, to scream.

Headcanon that when Nicky would get annoyed with Kevin he pulls up some fanfiction about him and reads it to him until he gets fed up enough to leave. He has a stockpile of longer fics specifically for long car rides. When the upperclassmen find out about it the foxes turn it into a competition to find the worst fic and make Kevin give a small trophy they purchased to whoever is chosen as the winner. The tradition carries on after graduation when they have their yearly reunion (and yes they all make sure to get together every year at least once and you can’t convince me otherwise) and they have developed a very sophisticated ranking system for it

Dc x Dp Prompt #2

Danny loved his life. After his reveal to Jack and Maddie as a half ghost went right, everything started falling into place.

Vlad stopped his insane schemes once his parents were set loose on him. Sure he’s still mayor but he funds the town, keeps them protected from unwanted visitors, and is no longer trying to kidnap/adopt/clone Danny anymore.

Speaking of clones, Ellie was officially adopted into the family. She didn’t live with them full time with her obsession being freedom, but at least she has a home to return to now.

Dan was also adopted into the family. He is still on probation but turns out having their adopted family again (and as many ghost fruits as he wants) helped ease the rage. That’s not to mention Dan’s and Skulker’s bi-weekly figh- errr meetups.

Well at least there’s been no property destruction since he’s been crowned. After he and his rogues began scheduling their own meetups, his grades started going up again. So while he may never become an astronaut like he always dreamed of, he could still go up to space and see the stars whenever he wanted to.

Sure, being king wasn’t exactly what he wanted in life (or death) but he could protect his ghosts and liminals better this way. And considering his entire town is either ghost or liminal, it was just easier to protect them from the GIW and the government in general with a crown on his head.

Besides being king isn’t all bad either. He’s rich now meaning they won’t be racked up in college debt, he has cool artifacts that were gifted to the ghost king over the millennia that were left untouched but he’s not about to return them (they were gifts to the ghost king, practically funeral gifts like flowers but more rare and expensive), and he has crazy powerful Ancients as friends/family/mentors/protectors. He’s still a baby in ghost years and a minor in human years so he’s not expected to do much either way.

Life was going great, especially after Amity Park adopted ghost etiquette and ecto-infused food and beverages.

So why the Ancients are the Justice League of all people standing outside his front door with the Batman looking thoroughly freaked out the moment he opened the door? He hasn’t said anything yet either!! Stupid fucking government heroes.

blood blossom danny except i briefly talk about his version of the accident

It all happened so fast that Danny doesn't really remember dying at all. It was like, one moment he was alive, the next he's dead. He remembers hitting the button, and the lights coming on, and then a great big flash.

Then he was outside of the portal.

He thinks he may have been screaming, but that's not true at all. The only sound he made was a split-second, startled gasp as the portal turned on, that was cut-off before he could finish the noise. The only ones who were screaming were Sam and Tucker; Danny was dead before he could feel anything.

The most vivid thing to him was the terror before the light. The blood rushing moment of mind-numbing fear and cold revelation that he was going to die, and there was nothing he could do about it. A weird sort of resignation, desperation, horror, and static calm that hit him all at once.

He was extremely disoriented when he woke up. Like waking up from a long nap and struggling to comprehend what the day or time was, but knowing instinctively that time has passed. He didn't stay in his ghost form for that long either, further cementing his confusion.

From the moment he hit the button to the few minutes after he woke up is an unsolved jigsaw puzzle to him.

It took him about a day and a half to fully remember what happened beyond 'went into the portal, then suddenly i was out of it and everyone was freaking out', and then a week to process.

Sam and Tucker remember his accident better than he does. They say he was in a daze after he woke up, before he recognized where he was. And he kinda just... squinted at them like he didn't know who they were, and said something in a language they couldn't understand. He was terrifyingly calm and passive, and still smoking.

(They later find out its ghostspeak. He was asking them where he was.)

It was only the moment he realized where he was that he transformed back into human. That's the moment where Danny's memory officially cuts back in for him. His first time as a ghost, and he doesn't really remember it that well.

Danny is very displeased. He’s going to bite Clockwork and complain his ear off because this is just utter bullshit. 

He’s stuck as a baby, which isn’t his fault. Okay so maybe it was a little bit his fault, but no one had told him not to touch the thing! And Clockwork is apparently too busy to fix his situation. Personally Danny is pretty sure he’s just enjoying being able to carry him around, what with the purr-buzzing and all that. 

Which okay, it’s kind of nice and is making him kind of sleepy but still! He’s supposed to be angry about this situation and biting at his hands! Which he shall continue to do! … after this nap, it’s been a while since he was able to get some proper sleep. 

…

Okay whoever just woke him up is going to have to catch his itty bitty baby hands! At least Clockwork looks just as unimpressed as he is now, and the people around the summoning circle look confused- save for a trenchcoat dude who looks horrified.

i found riko's death pretty horrifying, actually.

yes, i understand what he did to kevin, jean, neil, and everyone else that crossed his path. i understand that there was no real hope for changing him, and that his death was the only way to end his reign but. he's still very human. he was barely an adult, never really got to be a kid but never really allowed to mature either. he lived underground too, under threat of violence. all he wanted was for his father to love him (not even love, just acknowledge). he wanted to prove that he was worthy of his #1 - desperately, dangerously so. he needed to be #1 the same way kevin did - he was just as much of an object as any other player on the team. yes, he was cruel, and horrible, and he enjoyed it, but on the other hand. what other choice did he have? he was born to be evil and taught it was the only way to win, and winning was the only way to live. he'll never know there were any other options, because he lost his usefulness, acted out too much, and was disposed of casually, by his brother who he never got to meet. riko was doomed from the moment he was born, and he spent every waking moment trying to prove himself worthy to live.

he's so human. he screams when he's in pain, he's upset when people say mean things to him, but those things arent allowed for a raven, much less a moriyama. his body jerks a little when the bullet enters his brain.

Imagine having a dream and you're studying for it, working for it, maybe both, and circumstances beyond your control forced you into a position where you had to stand up for yourself and everything around you. You succeed, and you get a prize for it- 'power'. But is it really power when you have to keep using it for the greater good? When you can't ever be selfish anymore, or be considered just as bad as the one before you, the one you stood up against.

When you can't work for your dream anymore, because this thing you never asked for is more important now.

And in the end, your friends and family are able to wander off and pursue their own lives and you're stuck with this hell of your own making, but it's expected, and you're doing such a good job! Accept your destiny, grin and bear it! Isn't it grand to have all this power, that all these people depend on you to keep doing good?

And you can't complain, because you're basically living in the lap of luxury, right?
