I will say, with an inquisitor who actively and literally tried to escape the Inquisition and who hated 90% of the inner circle, the cameo in Veilguard is... horrifying

i love how short lucanis is, like my rook is not very tall and he's shorter than them.

i love him so much??? his ambient banter with your other companions about his relationship with rook makes me have so many feels (♡ヮ♡) . there's one line when he's talking to emmerich where he's like "i just like being around them they just make me happy" and i was like SAME BUDDY T.T I also love how his advice to emmerich's gifting works out (he suggests giving his bf knives) and emmerich's like "that was good advice!!!" and he's like "it was?? that has never worked for me" like he's so cute and kinda self deprecating? he's such an interesting character - assured and confident at his job but kind of surprised something nice has happened to him relationship wise. (emmerich's like "oh thank you for that advice" and lucanis is like "oh but rook's advice was prob better" and emmerich was like "yours was great! my bf actually collects knives so he loved that" XD) (it's hard not to constantly have him in my party, like who is coming with me and lucanis, friends? it's also usually emmerich tho i also love his interactions with taash and bellara and his evolving friendship with davrin. i have forced myself to have other combos tho, i do love everyone's banter. having that distinctly bioware problem where i absolutely want to do other romances but will have a hard time not romancing him like 50 more times* T.T polycule included when dragon age) i wish you got to have more directed asides with your romantic partner like even it's just to chat or make out a bit (they're def following more of the da2/mass effect format of making you do story stuff to unlock companion content- which is probably best but also) *because of this i'm not sure if ill ever be able to make that other choice since it locks him out completely and that's too sad for me.

It's so funny and peak Bioware to me that Veilguard so far has been an extended explanation of how the biggest mysteries and tragedies of Thedas that DA games have confronted are actually just the consequences of Solas fucking up and/or becoming too big for his britches but they're still like "but he didn't mean it tho 🥺" as if that makes a massive difference at this point.

re: the last post about Varric in datv, someone else brought up the whole thing with Anders and like...yeah, there's a lot about Varric that is very forgiving and non-judgmental and ofc it's possible he might have changed his stance on such things over time, but it's established in DA2 that there are certain lines he's not comfortable with others crossing even and perhaps especially if he considered them friends. Like, if I'm not mistaken there is chance to get him to mention Anders in DA:I and there's a strong sense of betrayal there, like he's mad but also disappointed in this person he'll never, ever trust again and is now basically dead to him. I'm just saying I feel like at one time Varric was written to have this kind of threshold of his trust. There's a lot he'll try to understand with nuance but even he has his limits. That's where I felt he was with Solas by the end of Trespasser (tho I haven't played it in years so I could be wrong, but that's what I remember) so it is kind of JARRING to see him in DATV being like NO I CAN FIX HIM, I JUST NEED TO SAY THE RIGHT THING TO HIM AND HE'LL STOP RIPPING THE WORLD APART TRUST ME BRO. Again, there's an element of that concept that's very sweet, but the more I ruminate on it, the less it makes sense with Varric's character as I knew him to be in the previous games. OH AND SAME WITH BARTRAND?!??! Like, this guy has been betrayed by people he loved and trusted SEVERAL times now but we're meant to believe he thinks he can just cheerleader Solas out of doing this thing??? I wouldn't think him so naive, especially 10 years on.

Idk, I'm fully willing to believe he'd want to still involve himself in the fate of the world because of his own sense of guilt and honor and duty all in equal measure, but I feel it should have been more of a trying to undermine Solas thing than a 'reason with him' kind of approach and that would've worked even better if we HAD to have him involved.
