AJR’s Maybe Man album feels so much like JD and Brozone. Lyrics are from Maybe Man and 2085. It’s been awhile since I attempted shading like this, but I’m pretty happy. It’s also a first time drawing JD, now I have either draw the other bros better or draw him being dumb.

wish rewrite but Queen Amaya has a minor influence on the plot, aka: Divorce arc! + Bonus song context changes
(it sucks that a person with so much potential was put in the story but just utilized as the Villain's sounding board. You could have replaced her with an animal sidekick! She could have been a classic evil cat! Anyway.)
Tl:Dr: Amaya and Magnifico's relationship is utilized more in the movie for both plot and character development.
Plot: the same but Amaya is having a mid life crisis and relationship issues with Magnifico, giving them both more depth than "childhood trauma made me a control freak + evil book possession" and "I'm the indicator that something is going wrong with my husband".
(tw: verbal and emotional abuse tactics.)
Movie opens on a book. It's not adorned or flashy, just a simple journal. Amaya is writing in it, narrating.
Teen Amaya arriving on a boat with a small group of people. She looks up, enraptured by the stars but no one else does and she's left alone. There's no voice, but you can see that she says "I wish". Then someone calls for her and she leaves. The next night Magnifico appears from the forest, performing magic.
Then we get "City of Rosas" montage going through years. Amaya as the singer, giving the tour. You see the 7 friends interact with her as quick help, then Asha pops up, first next to Amaya then taking over the tour guide spot.
There's a quick establishing walk around the Castle. Amaya checking in on the 7, the servants and people. Everything is going well! The Castle is humming along perfectly! Amaya doesn't need to lend a hand, or explain what's needed. She's a bit of a workaholic and doesn't know what to do with herself.
She ends up in the kitchen with the 7 and Asha. Dahlia gets a check in, her new medication is working well so she's just got her crutch today instead of a full wheelchair. Asha is told "you care plenty, but don't let it blind you." Asha is the one who says that her grandpa Sabino is having his 100th birthday. And wants his wish granted.
Simon is sleepy, everyone is concerned. Amaya excuses herself.
She goes to Magnifico. "Mi rey. You need to give Simon's wish back. He's not well."
"You mean grant it? what do we need Knights for? We're perfectly safe!"
And with Sabino - "there's nothing that needs changing! I'm all the inspiration the Kingdom needs!"
There's hints that Magnifico doesn't like people too much. "we have to keep these safe. They are the best parts of our people." Implying that he just likes what he can choose and control out of people.
And cue "At all costs" as a duet between Magnifico and Amaya. Starting as a love song addressed to Amaya, but then his focus shifts to the Wishes. Her face falls as she realizes that he won't do what she asks. And she leaves.
(what happens when your picture perfect life falls apart? When the job you have chosen, put your whole body and soul into, doesn't need as much time or effort? When the person you love, that you have partnered with for over several decades, doesn't have the same goals you do anymore? Doesn't value you like they used to?)
Only to find Asha was eavesdropping the whole time. "Wait. Are you. Having an argument? I thought you were happy?"
"we are. It's just difficult right now. It's a disagreement. We're fine."
Cut to Asha in the kitchen gathered with the 7. "They are not fine." So. Lighthearted scheme to get the Queen and King back in love by setting up a romantic date.
The lunch date fails. Amaya asks questions, probing more into Magnifico's self serving logic. He launches into "This is the Thanks I get?" (Less of a solo tantrum, more of a mocking dialogue between them.) And shuts her down. Amaya is stricken.
"if they break up, who gets the Wishes? Who's in charge? I don't think divorce is a thing that Royalty goes through!"
They retreat - Magnifico to a wish granting and Amaya to the kitchen. Asha wants to convince Amaya to keep going, keep pushing for the wishes.
"Has he always been like that?"
"Magnifico - oh he always wanted an audience. He hasn't changed since the day we met. He was fun. We needed that support, people who believe in him, in our rule. back then, when there were so many unknowns."
"But it's not back then anymore. We deserve our wishes. Maybe if we can show him that a dangerous wish won't be so bad, he'll come around!"
"Asha, don't tell me-"
"my Grandfather Sabino! He just said wanted to play the lute, right?"
"not exactly..." Amaya felt the true nature of the wish, to inspire.
"what more time does he have! My father already lost out on his wish! I'm not letting anyone else lose!"
"this is what I can do. For now. Go home."
"I can't wait for this change. Until I'm 18? Then what? I'm just supposed to give up my wish like everyone has? Be like Simon?"
Amaya doesn't have an answer to that. Asha goes home. She talks to her family and has her solo "This Wish" song.
The Star shows up. But as in the concept art, it's a mute boy! He starts the animals singing "You're a Star" - and eventually joins in once he gets the hang of talking. "Here I are!" Is his first line.
Once that's over, Star explains. "The Stars grant Wishes. Sometimes they come down to help out personally. But that was a while ago. I want to find them, but you're the first person in a long time to make a wish on a star." They make a plan to release the Wishes themselves.
Meanwhile, Magnifico and Amaya see the light show from Star coming to the Kingdom. Amaya has vague recognition, Magnifico is mad. "Absolutely not. No one is stealing my Wishes from me."
Amaya takes this time that he's distracted to find Simon and Sabino's wishes. She sings a solo version of "Knowing what I know now" with more personal touches and she sends the wishes down the dumbwaiter.
Asha sneaks Starboy into the Castle. Gets her friends to help. They open up the dumbwaiter and find the wishes. Simon gets his back, starts to feel better. Asha grabs Sabino's and runs.
Magnifico starts to build up power. He gathers the town and tells them that there's a rogue magic user on the loose.
Asha brings the wish to Sabino. And he immediately starts to inspire people to question Magnifico. (Seriously. That was the easiest thread to follow through. And it didn't happen!!! What- who dropped the ball?)
Asha regroups with her friends. Does the full "knowing what I know now" song. Runs away to distract Magnifico while her friends release the wishes.
Star looks at Amaya - "your wish wasn't granted. There's a trick to it, if you want to hear." Amaya looks sad again.
Big courtyard confrontation. Magnifico has been absorbing Wishes to get more power.
"I haven't granted my first wish. A lot of them, actually. I won't leave." Magnifico stands his ground.
"unless I retract it."
"you won't." Magnifico laughs. "Who would love you? You're past your prime, far too bossy-"
"You. Wanted love?" Asha asks.
"I was younger than you are. I had lost everything. When I came here and looked at the stars, I thought I could have anything I wanted. And I wanted love. After everything that happened, I wanted love. That was only mine. But not like this."
"we love you. We see you. Even if you can't do magic or fix everything. We love you." Asha and the 7 say to Amaya.
So she reaches into Magnifico, pulling out her wish herself. Everyone sees that and starts to pull theirs from Magnifico.
And it leaves him as a slip of a silvery man. Star taps on him and Magnifico turns completely into his silver white star form. "That's where you've been!"
"so Stars can't stay on earth for too long or they'll go mad?"
"pfft. No. It's just this guy. C'mon let's get you some perspective." And Star takes him away into the sky.
It fades into a picture that Asha is drawing. Her and Amaya are making a book to explain what happened.
Amaya narrates the ending, telling us that it doesn't really end.
The 7 friends and Asha are made apprentices to Queen Amaya. Amaya starts to give the Wishes back, setting people up to achieve their dreams. Star pops back to say hi and go and grant more Wishes.
The handwritten book closes and Amaya stamps "Wish" on the cover with leather tools.
The end
#disney wish 2023#queen amaya#king magnifico#princess asha#disney wish rewrite#Amaya gets some workaholic tendencies and Asha gets to be an impulsive teenager#This is basically for all the Disney Adults I suppose. I doubt that Disney would ever support Divorce at least not for another 100 years#...yes I skipped over Asha for another blank unknown basically build an oc#But also the implications of Amaya existing where she's difficult to justify and in narrative is basically a prop? Kind of chewy#Lazlo's lulls#Also featuring a fan-theory of Magnifico being a Star. since his genes come from outer space. and only Stars have Magic#and the wildly popular starboy from the concept art - but throw in some English as second language because he's Not From Here.#Aw no I just redid the older lady is the catalyst for everything trope from Encanto and Turning Red!!!#But also subtext of older women being past their prime and not valued or desirable - then refusing that IS the point#But the intent is Asha protagonist and Amaya deuteragonist. Like. Quasimodo and Phoebus.#Thank you. Love you.

Do you have advice on the art of sandwiches? I feel like i my best sandwich at home is still leagues below the worst sandwich ive bought at a restaurant
Since sandwiches are infinitely variable, I'm going to assume you're trying to make my favorite sandwich: the Turkey Club, sandwich style not sub style.
Your goal is to MAXIMIZE FLAVOR.
Thicker bread. Standard slice size for bread isn't going to cut it, here. You want thick-slice bread.
Sourdough, or French Bread not 'White' bread. You want it chewy, with a thicker crust. Hearty.
Extra-Heavy Mayo. Restaurants do not use standard mayo from the grocery. Extra-heavy mayo has a higher ratio of egg yolks, giving it a richer flavor and thicker consistency for both spreading and using in tuna or egg salad. It's also more of a warm ivory color, rather than 'white.'
Instead of yellow deli mustard, try a ground-whole-seed mustard. It has a spicier, richer profile, and a little more vinegar.
Be generous with condiments. You're making a good sandwich, not cutting calories.
SEASON your sandwich. Dust the vegetables - salt and pepper goes a long way! Dried oregano, onion powder, garlic powder are also champs. My fave is to take a spicy blend (like a fajita seasoning blend) and sprinkle generously over the mayo before adding other stuff.
Lettuce CRUNCH is important. Include the pale crispy parts in your sandwich, not just the soft green leaf parts. Use romaine and arugula, not 'iceburg' lettuce, which has next to zero flavor.
If you're using texture leafy greens like arugula, toss it in a vinaigrette before piling it onto the sandwich. The vinegar zing makes a statement.
The tomato should have a strong flavor of its own. Salt & pepper on ripe tomato is heavenly. Make sure your seasoning hits the tomato.
If you're adding onion, make sure the slices are super duper thin-sliced. Like, mandolin-thin. Translucent-thin. Red onion is king.
If you want it toasted, make sure the cheese and meat gets hot, but the greens/tomato/onion is added afterward so it stays cold and crisp.
Don't be afraid to STACK IT TALL. CRAM IT FULL! How many sandwiches from restaurants feel impossible to fit in your mouth at first glance? Most of 'em. Make it big. With the meat, especially, they often CRAM the meat in there. No single-layer of ham slices here.
It's ok to MIX MEATS. Fry up some bacon (extra crispy!) or crisp up some pepperoni and layer it with your turkey.
Once you're done, wrap your sandwich in parchment paper (not WAX paper, there's a difference), then slice in half. By wrapping it, you force all the ingredients to smush together and start blending flavors. This makes 'em all a little better and stops them from sliding around, so it's easy to get a bite with every ingredient at once, and stops the sandwich from actually falling apart.
--
Honestly, the biggest 'secrets' of sandwich making is:
MAXIMIZE FLAVOR. USE RICHLY FLAVORED INGREDIENTS.
SEASON ALL YOUR SHIT FOR MORE FLAVOR
DON'T BE AFRAID TO PILE ON MORE GOOD SHIT.

for the chewie arranged marriage thing : could be a bit of a fantasy type setting. they're both powerful nobles but in trouble for various reasons. (King Toto is trying to push Lewis out because he's become too powerful. Meanwhile the court of Ferrari-land is full of scheming vipers and Charles can use Lewis's ressources/knowledge for ???? something.) They don't know each other well (maybe they have an unflattering idea of each other) but their friends suggest/set up the arranged marriage as a political thing. Lewis goes to Ferrari-land with a secret plan to take over and sideline Charles, while Charles has his own secret scheme. They both try to charm/distract each other while plotting each other's demise basically. But then whoops, they bond over being partners in courtly intrigue and their love of art and music. And they respect each other's game and they share some really genuine moments and then realize they really like each other as people but it's too late because everything else is already in motion and 😱 yeah idk I love the idea of them both pretending to be on top of things, both being at their most ruthless and charming and then getting caught in their feelings in a bit of an embarassing way. the way they're both romantics but also really care about managing their image, and the pressure of the spotlight ...could do a lot with that
OMGGGG I SAY YESSSS IT CAN BE AMAZING
So, first of all, I think Seb should be the one to suggest the idea of the wedding, and since he's a scheming little shit all by himself, he probably decides to set them up.
The idea that they have expectations about each other that are completely off can make things really interesting I think. Like, for example, maybe Lewis believes Charles' reputation, that says he's a pretty boy but completely dumb (when he's actually just hiding his game not to be targeted by assasination plots). Meanwhile, Lewis has the reputation to be fearsome and ruthless, a complete tyrant, when it's actually Toto's creating those rumours. So, of course, Seb knows them both personnaly. And because he just likes to be entertained, he's not gonna tell either of them that the rumours are bullshit. Just cause it's fun. That's Seb for you.
I love them plotting against each other but trying to use the other at the same time... Maybe Charles wants to take the power, but has a complicated family situation that puts him against several people to get the crown. But since he's supposed to be dumb and innocent, he's survived so far. Having Lewis by his side is just insurence to be protected... Meanwhile, Lewis gets cast away because the people like him too much to Toto's liking, and he's scared of losing the crown. Maybe Lewis wants the Ferrari's kingdom army to himself to take what's rightfully his. (does it makes sense? idk if i'm making sense lmao)
Imagine the wedding night. They spent the evening playing pretends, like they're madly in love to justify the wedding and not make people suspicious. They're finally alone, they don't have to keep up the masks... But they probably end up having sex anyway cause they think the other is hot as fuck.
It can be so fun to see them fall for each other slowly, and most of all being charmed by how cunning and manipulative the other is. Like, idk, Charles manages to get his main rival out of the race by destroying his reputation or something, and Lewis is like "damn. That's hot. And that's my husband right there."
I will need a happy ending, though. That's a must.
#chewis#lewis hamilton#charles leclerc#1644#fic idea#thank youuu pumpkinning#i think we could make great things together

Absolutely Random Star Wars AU
Made with Wheel Spin:
Reble Crew
Poilet/Leader: Thrawn
Brawler/Figther: Rex
Gunder/Mechanic: Anakin
Jedi/Force user: Hera
Team Son/Daugther: Ezra
Droid: R2D2
Imperials
Leader: Obi-Wan
2nd: Leia
Mad Scinisteist: Sabine
Goon 1: Zeb
Goon 2: Han Solo
Future Traitor: Chopper
Inquisitor/Sith: Kallus
Droid: C3-PO
Others
Fulkerum: Maul
Not Imp Sith: Luke
Pirate: Ashoka
Exiled Jedi: Mace
Force Ghost: Kannan
New Mandalore: Cody
Bounty Hunter: Chewbacca
Thoughts:
This ghost/rebel crew is a freaking mess! Thraw is leading which means the crew has to deal with regular art exertions and the blue man rarely explains his plans! I assume Anakin just kinda shows up on Thrawn's doorstep after Order 66 with Rex and R2 and Thrawn just decided to help him overthrow the government.
Since Kannan is a ghost and Hera is a Jedi... FORCE GHOST ROMANCE TIME BOISS!! Kannan dies in order 66 despite Depa's best efforts but he sticks around for... reasons idk. He meets Hera who is force sensitive in this AU and I assume he tries to teach her how to be a Jedi. They end up falling in love, despite Kannan being dead.
Maybe Kannan is still the one who finds Ezra, he is still meant to be the boy's master but the kid can't see him yet. So he calls Hera who helps him adopt his son. Of course, Thrawn, Anakin and Rex are also space dads.
OMG Evil Obi with Evil Leia holy shit. Obi-Wan is a Sith with Leia as his apprentice, if Mustafar happens he probably thinks Anakin is dead so he raises Luke and Leia. Palps is probably dead as well since Obi is a Sith. Since Luke is a rogue Sith I assume he bailed on the empire because he is a good boy. He is probably trying to be a Jedi but he has zero clue how to or what it means to be a Jedi.
Sabine and Leia are evil BFFs(Or gfs) and I love them for it. Zeb and Kallus are also gay and evil. Ashoka joins Hondo's crew, Maul is being a sneaky bastard helping the rebellion, and Cody is a king! Somehow I imagine this Mandalore is the most functional we've seen in a while. Chewy and Han are still friends I imagine, even though ones are an imp and the other is a bounty hunter. Mace is a depressed Grandpa who is very happy to find out he got a great-grand padawan and is less happy when he finds out Skywalker has 25% Custody.
All that not even mentioning the drama between the Skywalker twins feeling like they got replaced by Ezra. Anakin being that Obi took the kids and Obi-wan just wants them all to be a happy family(Yes even the ghost crew). This would be wild!

The Best Pizza Restaurants in the U.S.
Pizza is one of the most beloved foods in America, and over the years, it has evolved into a culinary art form. Whether you prefer thin-crust, deep-dish, or wood-fired pies, the U.S. is home to some of the best pizzerias in the world, offering a diverse range of styles and flavors. From classic pizzerias with decades of history to modern spots pushing the boundaries of what pizza can be, there's something for every pizza lover.
At Resreviews, we’ve rounded up the top pizza restaurants across the U.S. to help you find your next must-try pie. Here are the best pizza spots that you should visit, coast to coast.
1. Di Fara Pizza (Brooklyn, New York)
No list of top pizza spots would be complete without mentioning Di Fara Pizza, a legendary pizzeria in Brooklyn. Opened in 1965 by Domenico DeMarco, this family-run shop has become synonymous with classic New York-style pizza. Each pizza is handcrafted, with fresh dough, San Marzano tomatoes, and high-quality Italian olive oil, making it a true pizza pilgrimage for anyone visiting New York.
Why Di Fara is a Must-Visit
The thin, crispy crust and perfectly balanced sauce-to-cheese ratio set Di Fara’s pies apart. Every pizza is made by hand, often by DeMarco himself, making each bite a labor of love. Be prepared for a wait, but trust us—it’s worth it.
2. Pizzeria Bianco (Phoenix, Arizona)
Pizzeria Bianco in Phoenix is often hailed as one of the best pizza restaurants in the U.S., thanks to the incredible craftsmanship of chef Chris Bianco. His dedication to using top-quality ingredients, from locally sourced produce to organic flour, results in unforgettable wood-fired pizzas. The crust is chewy yet crispy, and each pie is topped with simple, fresh ingredients that let the flavors shine.
Why Pizzeria Bianco Stands Out
The restaurant’s signature pizzas, like the Margherita and the Wiseguy (topped with house-smoked mozzarella, sausage, and roasted onions), are fan favorites. The combination of a perfect crust and locally sourced toppings make this a must-try spot in the Southwest.
3. Lou Malnati’s Pizzeria (Chicago, Illinois)
When it comes to Chicago-style deep-dish pizza, Lou Malnati’s is an institution. Known for its buttery crust, layers of cheese, and chunky tomato sauce, this deep-dish pizza is a Chicago classic. Lou Malnati’s has been serving up hearty, indulgent pizzas since 1971, and it remains a favorite for both locals and tourists.
Why Lou Malnati’s is Chicago’s Deep-Dish King
Lou Malnati’s signature buttercrust is the star of the show, offering a rich, flavorful base that perfectly complements the generous layers of cheese and sauce. The Malnati Chicago Classic, topped with sausage, extra cheese, and vine-ripened tomato sauce, is the perfect introduction to Chicago deep-dish.
4. Frank Pepe Pizzeria Napoletana (New Haven, Connecticut)
Frank Pepe Pizzeria Napoletana, commonly known as Pepe’s, is a New Haven institution and one of the oldest pizzerias in the U.S., dating back to 1925. Pepe’s is known for its coal-fired, thin-crust pizzas, with their charred edges and crispy texture. The most famous pizza on the menu is the white clam pie, topped with fresh clams, garlic, olive oil, and grated cheese.
Why Frank Pepe is a Must-Try
Pepe’s signature white clam pizza is unlike anything you’ve tasted before—light, garlicky, and perfectly balanced. The coal-fired oven imparts a distinct flavor and crunch to the crust that pizza purists will appreciate. For a true New Haven pizza experience, Pepe’s is unbeatable.
5. Roberta’s (Brooklyn, New York)
Roberta’s in Brooklyn has redefined the modern pizza scene with its inventive toppings and hip atmosphere. The pizzeria started in a modest space in Bushwick and quickly gained a cult following for its wood-fired pies. While it honors traditional techniques, Roberta’s also experiments with creative combinations of ingredients, making it a go-to spot for pizza enthusiasts.
Why Roberta’s is a Modern Pizza Star
The Bee Sting, topped with spicy soppressata, mozzarella, chili flakes, and a drizzle of honey, is a fan favorite and perfectly embodies Roberta’s playful yet thoughtful approach to pizza. The crust is blistered to perfection in their wood-fired oven, resulting in a soft yet crispy base.
6. Pizzana (Los Angeles, California)
Pizzana brings the flavors of Naples to Los Angeles with a California twist. Founded by Candace and Charles Nelson, and helmed by Neapolitan pizza master Daniele Uditi, Pizzana is known for its attention to detail, using 48-hour fermented dough and ingredients imported from Italy. The result is a pizza that’s light, airy, and bursting with flavor.
Why Pizzana is a Must-Visit in LA
The Neo Margherita, with San Marzano tomatoes, buffalo mozzarella, and basil, is a standout for its simplicity and freshness. Pizzana’s perfect balance of traditional Italian methods with modern creativity makes it one of LA’s top pizza destinations.
7. Prince Street Pizza (New York City, New York)
Prince Street Pizza in Manhattan’s Nolita neighborhood has made a name for itself with its iconic spicy pepperoni square. This Sicilian-style pizza features a thick, chewy crust topped with crispy, curled pepperoni slices and a tangy tomato sauce. The bold flavors and generous toppings have earned Prince Street a loyal following.
Why You Should Try Prince Street Pizza
The Sicilian-style pepperoni slice at Prince Street is unlike any other—thick, cheesy, and with a spicy kick that pizza lovers crave. The crunch of the crust and the perfectly crispy pepperoni make it a memorable slice that’s worth a visit.
8. Flour + Water Pizzeria (San Francisco, California)
Located in San Francisco’s Mission District, Flour + Water Pizzeria is known for its Neapolitan-style pies and dedication to craftsmanship. The pizzas here feature a chewy, flavorful crust and a variety of creative toppings that elevate the dining experience. The restaurant’s focus on quality ingredients and innovative flavors makes it a standout in the Bay Area.
Why Flour + Water Pizzeria is a Must-Try
The menu rotates seasonally, but favorites like the Margherita and Funghi pizzas are always a hit. The use of fresh, local ingredients combined with traditional Italian techniques creates pizzas that are both familiar and exciting.
9. Sally’s Apizza (New Haven, Connecticut)
Another New Haven favorite, Sally’s Apizza is a beloved spot for thin-crust, coal-fired pizzas. Founded in 1938, Sally’s offers a more straightforward approach to pizza, with a focus on simple, high-quality ingredients. The charred, thin crust is what draws people in, and the no-frills menu lets the pizzas speak for themselves.
Why Sally’s is a New Haven Classic
Sally’s traditional tomato pie, topped with a thin layer of tomato sauce and little to no cheese, is a classic example of New Haven-style pizza. The simplicity of the toppings and the crisp, smoky crust make it a must-try for pizza purists.
10. Buddy’s Pizza (Detroit, Michigan)
Buddy’s Pizza is the birthplace of Detroit-style pizza, a thick, square pizza with a crispy, cheesy crust and a chewy center. The pizza is baked in a steel pan, which gives it its signature texture and flavor. Buddy’s has been serving this iconic style of pizza since 1946, and it remains a favorite for Detroit locals and visitors alike.
Why Buddy’s Pizza is a Detroit Staple
The crust at Buddy’s Pizza is a revelation—crispy on the outside, soft on the inside, and topped with a layer of caramelized cheese. The signature Detroit-style square pizza, topped with tomato sauce and a variety of toppings, is a must-try for anyone visiting the Motor City.
Conclusion
From the coal-fired ovens of New Haven to the deep-dish pies of Chicago and the creative wood-fired pizzas in Brooklyn, the U.S. offers a wide range of incredible pizza experiences. At Resreview, we believe in celebrating the diversity and craftsmanship that goes into each pie. Whether you’re a fan of classic styles or innovative creations, these pizza restaurants are sure to impress.

Ahahhaaaaa your tuuurn
i don't know what putting it under a readmore does but i will anyway because i can ramble like no one's business
My favorite fic of yours
All of them? Is that an answer? No, truly, I think my very favorite is that very sweet one of Graham on the battlements wishing on a star, and asking No1 what he would wish for. There's something just so...earnest and yearning about it. And of course a lilting lightheartedness to Graham's playful questioning and No1's sort of terse thoughts about magic and what could happen should such things be voiced. Also, scenes surrounded by glittering starlight just make my heart soar with delight.
The best character you’ve written for
Rosie Cracker. Oh, that perspective flip chapter with her just smiling at her energetic, adorable son and his dreams, and just so carefully talking to him and loving him and being so down to earth...it really painted her as such a real person for me.
The best ship you’ve written for
I don't ship people hardly ever, romance is not something I'm interested in hardly at all (see all the gen art and gen fic with the very rare romantically inclined thing), but the way you write Neese and Graham just absolutely makes me delighted. Valance and Graham in general is one of the few romances I can really appreciate (Sam Vimes and Sybil from Discworld is the only other one that usually comes to mind), and you really just emphasize what I love about those two when you let them banter, twirl, talk. All those masked ball scenes, all those secret smiles, cheerful chatter...I adore them.
Something I remember vividly from reading one of your fics
That masquerade prisoner ball thing will Not get out of my mind. It just lives there. And that curious witch trying to look at Graham's hands. And Mordon using Graham's own words to try and talk to him. And Vee trying to talk to a very apprehensive ice king trying to hide from her. and EVERY spin of you've done so far of fight club, from the kind but still dangerous cabin in the night to the unease of the gambling den, just. lush.
What I like the most about your writing
I've said you get character dialogue to be pretty precise, but I also enjoy the way you describe scenes and just have dialogue in general. I don't know how to express it, but something about it feels very chewy. In a good way, like I could gnaw on your prose. I don't really know how to explain it better; it's just so thick and realistic and fun and lilting and bouncing? It reminds me of the Princess Florinda novella. Something that deserves to be spoken out loud.
A fic i’m excited for you updating/posting
well fiiiic ahem ahem
If i’ve ever shared/talked about your fic to someone else
I must admit, goblin graham has come up in conversations in real life with people who have seen me drawing him. or just wanting to talk about the concept. it, uh, has happened rather a lot with several different people. your stories are delightfully fun to explain. <3
This feels like a great, big, tremendous hug to read through. Thank you for the encouragement. It means so much - you're very kind!
Aw, I am so glad you like "Stargazers!" It only got written because I loved that wonderful art piece you drew of Graham closing his eyes and missing the falling star - it was fun trying to match the atmosphere of it while also trying to scatter a bit of foreshadowing for the big picture story.
Come to think of it, I wrote Rosie the way I did partly because of the way you drew her in that piece of art with her giving Graham his various cloaks through life. There can be so much personality just in character's design, and I piggybacked off of it, putting it together with Graham's personality in Chapter One, which gives hints about what kind of parenting he grew up with.
Neese and Graham are fun to write together, and in my head she's the "real" Valanice simply because it naturally turned out that way first time I played through. But Vee is a more interesting character to write. It would be an interesting experiment to try to infer more about Neese from what we know, give her some serious scenes to expand her character, because it's easy to make her skim the surface. (Canon tends this way, of course, because the princesses have to fit easily into categories in order to make the mechanics of gameplay work - it would be need to see a little more of her humanity that's not as easy to categorize.)
I think the most joy I had from this "ask" was reading the specific things that stood out vividly to you. Each one I felt like pumping my fist.
Ha, you know what? Back in October when I started posting KQ stuff in earnest you compared something I'd written to Princess Floralinda. I was curious enough that I wanted to see what the similarity was, and I made an account to start listening to audiobooks for this purpose, and haven't looked back. We have YOU to blame for my audiobook habit.
Speaking of the Well Fic - and things you're responsible for - I seem to remember that the reason I decided to take the full plunge and get properly involved in the community was because you messaged me a few months after I posted the Well Fic and told me you liked it and would enjoy more. I had just sort of posted it and disappeared. I really do need to write Part 2. (the explanation for what's up with the mirror has changed completely from what I had first envisioned, because of somebody's goblinization - hence the delay.)
I let out a bona fide squeak when you said you'd mentioned Goblin Graham to other people - a good kind of squeak.

Imagine you go to the store and pick up a bag of M&Ms, but when you get home and open it up, it’s full of Skittles. You check the front of the bag, and it says “M&Ms,” but instead of chocolate candies that melt in your mouth (and also low-key melt in your hand), you’ve received fruit-flavored, chewy rainbow candies. Now, Skittles aren’t bad by any means, but they objectively aren’t what goes in an M&M bag, so presumably there was a mix-up at the factory. You return to the store only for the same thing to happen again... and again and again; there are no M&Ms to be found, just lots of bags of Skittles that say “M&Ms” on the front.
After years of this, you start to wonder if M&M bags will ever actually contain M&Ms again. People who prefer Skittles and people who enjoy both candies equally don’t understand what’s wrong; they think you’re entitled for expecting M&M bags to contain M&Ms, they think that you hate Skittles and want to see them eradicated, they think you’re being mean and selfish and resistant to change, but all you really want is for the bag to match its contents.
It’d be one thing if they just stopped making M&Ms and M&M bags altogether- that’d be upsetting, but tolerable- making M&M bags full of Skittles, however, is confusing for people who’d never tried M&Ms before this changed, as they’re being led to believe that M&Ms are fruit flavored and chewy, a constant reminder that M&Ms no longer exist (in this hypothetical scenario), and a sign of either incompetence or deliberate deception on the part of the manufacturer.
Paper Mario fans aren’t “rabid” or “entitled,” we aren’t “hating on” games because we expect Intelligent Systems to cater to our every whim, and we certainly don’t expect everyone to have the same taste in video games. Whether you do or don’t like Skittles, and whether you do or don’t like M&Ms, I think we can all agree that they’re two different things, and as two different things, they shouldn’t be lumped together under the same name.
Series /ˈsirēz/
noun. A number of things, events, or people of a similar kind of related nature coming one after another.
Despite having “Paper Mario” in the name, Sticker Star signified a dramatic shift in genre, cannon, narrative structure, setting, atmosphere, casting, characterization, tone, visual style, sound design, gameplay, length, UI design, UX design, and other of the various attributes that comprise any individual game.
The nature of Sticker Star and Color Splash, and evidently The Origami King, is barely even tangentially related to that of Paper Mario and TTYD, and the games aren’t remotely similar to Super Paper Mario either, so they’re just completely separate.
Do games need to change over time to stay relevant and fresh? Of course, but as with most things in life, it’s about balance, it’s about hitting that sweet spot between too much and not enough change. How do you know when you’ve hit that sweet spot? Well, it’s hard to say, because there are so many variables at play when you’re creating a sequel to another work of art, but chances are, if you’re changing more than you’re leaving the same, you’re crossing the line from staying relevant to totally rebooting the series. Taking two steps back when you crossed that line twenty miles ago isn’t going to win back the fans that you betrayed when you quite possibly destroyed the future of something they love.
