Ok listen, Professor Venomous from ok ko is super hot and like I really like his character so I thought, what if I made a y/n based off of him in dc. Even more big brain idea of them being a weapons supplier to villains and those villains eventually gaining feelings

I left y/n in this gender neutral and the whole thing of professor venomous having purple skin up to reader interpretation of y/n having that feature or not

Btw in this y/n is confident in their abilites but has some deep rooted insecurities about doing better and getting power to make themself feel secure. Their also kinda an oblivious lil bitch cause of that lol

In a world that has super hero’s and villains of wild proportions, gifted with powers of all kinds it’s easy to be cast aside when you are not to their standard

You were a hero once, part of the few gifted with powers beyond anyone’s wildest dreams

It was great, you were happy helping people and the adrenaline that came with the job

Fuck, you even worked with the god Damn justice league of all people. Everything had seemed to finally be good in your life

But even with that there was always doubt in the back of your mind

You could do better, sure you were a good hero but not a great one despite how much people tried to convince you of it

You could’ve done more to save others, your powers would never be good enough to be compared to the others no matter how much your worked

You felt inadequate in your own skin, in your own suit, with your powers

In some ways you felt stupid for feeling that way, Batman and Green arrow didn’t have powers and they were just fine

But it just kept simmering and simmering for you until a breaking point

You tried making a machine to help enhance your abilities, it was meant to push them to the next level as to make you more effective

To finally get rid of that stupid voice in the back of your mind

But it backfired badly, really badly

It ended up getting rid of your powers all together and nearly killed you in the process

You were powerless again, like you’d felt all your life until you became a hero

You were useless now

At best you’d maybe be put on tech support but why would they do that when they have someone like cyborg or Batman with his gadgets

So you left

You left your half vaporized and shredded uniform and gave up on being a hero until you’d be able to create a cure

Luckily no one knew your identity nor did you know theirs so you migrated into base where you began developing equipment

It went on like this for about a year until you needed money and you decided to sell some weapons

And Bane ended up buying from you

You justified it at first, that you’d make up for it when you got your powers back

But eventually it felt good…really good

And then you began selling to other villains and saw the demand they had for your schematics and machines

You felt powerful again, infact you felt more powerful than you did with your powers

And that’s where you realized that you don’t need powers to have power

All you needed was to create a supply and demand plus build partnerships with other certain people

And you were golden

As mentioned earlier Bane is your first buyer of all people

And thus the first to gain feelings for you

It’s a slow thing at first as it is for the other villains as well

What hooks his attention is your intelligence which is sadly a hard trait to find in the underworld

Your smart like him, frighteningly so

You create intricately made schematics and beautifully crafted machinery that helps enhance his venom

You even make the containers and tubes hooked up to him more durable

He likes that he can hold a conversation with you and can talk deeply about subjects which interest both him and you

For instance the topic of power

You respect him quite a bit, especially when learning of his childhood

And the respect is also mutual from him as well since he knows there more to you than meets the eye

Your a mystery to everyone, one that’s carefully crafted and sculpted from shadows and vague rumours

One in which he finds himself enraptured in as he begins to become more and more interested in you on a personal level

At some point while you adjust your new enhancements on him the talks become personal

And he finds himself leaning into your precise touch

And shit

Well he didn’t intend to end up this way but he can’t say that the feeling of his heart racing isn’t nice

It’s at this point when he realizes his feelings that he makes subtle moves

Like he pays a bit more than what was asked for, always writing it off as a tip for you excellent work

Giving you pet names in Spanish that have certain connotations

Hell, he even promises you protection should you need it along with promising that if you got into trouble he’d bail you out by force

The poor man is dropping hints faster than flies dropping from the sky due to a chemical leak

But you don’t catch on due to you thinking no one would actually like you other than in a business partnership way due to your still lingering insecurities

But dear god he’s getting real fed up with how you aren’t catching on at all

For as smart as you are, your kinda oblivious to everyone’s advances

Like he’s been calling you nicknames in Spanish with romantic connotations and you don’t bat an eye at it even though he knows you know Spanish?!!?

Don’t be surprised next you come over and see an indent in the wall from him bashing his head against it in fucking frustration

Though he presumes that also is something he enjoys with you, how despite your intelligence your still a emotionally stoic genius

He 100% uses the fact he bought from you first and knew you the longest to all the others after your cold unbeating heart

He really likes stirring the pot especially when seeing how pissed off he can make others

Oh it’s so fun to toy with them until they break

And he intends to do that until he’s the last one in this race standing though unfortunately that will be hard for him to do considering everyone else is just as invested in it

Slade is another bunch of your clients that buys your weapons quite frequently

He likes your work along with the fact that your punctual

Your never late nor do you waste time on bullshit to get to the point of the conversation

After spending a long time with people skirting around details and dilly dallying he finds it nice

Your just to the point and you don’t disguise your motives

Along with that your prices are fair and your weapons are worth it

You meet in secluded places with him, handing him over the weapons safely stored in a bag as he transfers the money to you

It’s during one of these meets though that it’s interrupted by some random thugs

Before he can even point blank shoot them you just take out the weapon from its case and takes care of them

While he’s standing there thinking about how attractive that was lol

“We’ll I guess we can consider that a weapon test if your still interested in buying”

Yeah…seeing you absolutely decimate some poor fools with you own weapon, lab coat fluttering in the wind really hits something in him

And gets worse as times goes on and those private meets spaces end up eventually taking place in his apartment where he offers coffee (that you desperately need)

Slade goes through like 7 stages of denial and then accepts it one day as he realizes that others are after you too

It kinda gets worse when Rose ended up there once while you were advertising some new sniper scope and you suddenly go from stoic and emotionless to gently patching her up

And while he has a strained relationship with her at best he still cares for her more than he’d like to admit

And seeing that you care for kids and took to patching her wounds with care and a certain gentleness in your voice just kinda hits him hard and hrrnnnnjajajajajsjn

He gets really competitive with everyone else cause when he has his sights set on something/someone he ain’t letting down easily

Meanwhile Rose is just watching from the sidelines. Like she may dislike her dad heavily but after the few encounters she’s had with you she likes you

So she’s kinda silently hoping that something good comes out of this

Either way she gets to watch him get stressed from half your clientele feeling the same way he does lol

At one point he legit asks you out on a date and you misinterpret that as “a work date where you can tell me of your newest items on the market”

Safe to say he’s a bit salty after that especially when he’s now been roped into buying a new rifle (though he does admit he needed a new one anyways)

What makes it worse is that he swears your flirting with him sometimes? Or at least you sound like your flirting with how you phrase shit and the tone of voice you use

Maybe he’s looking too much into your words but why must you say such hot evil shit

Plus your damn lab coat and black turtleneck combo is so fine

You don’t even know the hold you have on this man lol

Has 100% offered to give you a discount for any of his services should you need it

Like taking out competition but you just say you want to crush them via taking all their buyers yourself and watch them get panicky

by god he respects that sentiment and you get a good hardy chuckle out of him

While Harley and Ivy are a bit more relaxed than they were before their relationship that still doesn’t mean they don’t want to check out your stock especially since you also make stuff for plants

And of course ivy eats that up and Harley eats it up as well since it makes Ivy super happy

As they say happy wife girlfriend happy life

But as they casually shop from you Harley and Ivy begin to find your company quite fun!

You kinda begin to act as a counterbalance to Harley’s wild ideas and Ivy’s more controlled ones

You Find a middle ground for both of them in most situations and inventions made specifically for them

It’s then that they begin inviting you to their apartment, a place where you unwind a bit from the stress of everything

You’ve spent many a nights planning and building and selling so it’s nice to just relax and watch a movie with them

To watch a schlocky horror film sandwiched between the two women as you hold a popcorn bowl in your lap

Hyenas curled near your feet

Unsurprisingly they both kinda start catching feelings and both are much more in-tuned with their emotions than most other suitors and catch on quick that they got feelings

Now the thing about them as well is that both communicate with one another and when they both realize that the feeling is mutual they both decide might as well

These bi queens are working together on this but you ignore the signs cause a) their in a relationship with one another they couldn’t possibly like me and b) their just really affectionate with me cause I’m their friend

Honestly instead of frustrating them it just makes Harley laugh cause like “Puddin your smart but not that smart”

Both of them bond with you over the fact that they’ve also got high educations themselves!. Ivy in particular cause she give good tips on how to make your machines eco friendly

Listen you may be a criminal with morally grey sense of ethics but your not a complete asshole

Harley shows her interest through affection so be prepared for a lot of hugs, hand holding and even some kisses on the cheek if your comfortable with it

Giving you cheek kisses is hilarious to her cause how the fuck are you not catching on and it also pisses off the boys

She also LOVES nicknames. Once she’s friends with you she ain’t ever calling you by your name again, it’s just nicknames galore from then on out

As a sign of trust she actually asks you to look after bud and Lou (her hyenas) when she and ivy go away for whatever reason

At this point the two are big puppies around you and you have a soft spot for the two balls of spotted fur

At some point Harley kinda subconsciously psycho analyzes you just out of habit

And by doing that she kinda figured out that your inability to see all the hints thrown your way by several people stems from some insecurities

She’s not certain what caused said insecurities but she gets the sense that due to something in the past you can’t see others perceiving yourself as anything other than an ally or a necessity

You enjoy the feeling of being relied on and the power that comes with being in such a position but can’t distinguish and justify when others seek more than just what you offer resource wise

…she may be reading more inbetween the lines but it kinda worries her a lot

Especially since she doesn’t know what might’ve caused you to think of yourself in such a way

But she keeps that to herself and Ivy, instead focusing on doing her best to make you happy and help you catch a hint

Ivy on the other hand shows affection Via gift giving and words of affirmation

She gifts you small plants and succulents that you now keep in your lab, properly watered and cared for

They also serve as a subconscious sign for your to look after yourself as well

They stand out well against the cold purple tinted steel, vibrant green’s brining in a sense of life to the place

Your base up until that point had always been…lifeless. Nothing personalized there but with Ivy’s gifts they help give the place something that had been missing

Along with plants she also gifts a lot of skin care and general health goods as an extra little thing

She also compliments you a lot, saying how great you look and how great your inventions are

She really enjoys when she can see the smallest bit of pride swell up in your eyes as you thank her

Both find it hilarious when you say or do something vaguely flirty but don’t realize it until they say and you get all flustered

They also say “no it’s ok, in fact say more” and you take it as a joke not knowing their 100% serious

Harvey and Two-face once bought from you and had intended to have it as a one time thing but once meeting up with you had decided to change their mind via coin flip

What had gotten both their attentions was the sense of duality that they saw in you

More so how they got the sense you weren’t like this once upon a time but something in you changed

Just like Harvey

So they continue to buy from you, trying to kinda figure you out while also enjoying the supplies you sell

You treat them as their own separate entities, not thinking of one as the “good” side nor one as the “bad” side

Harvey himself engages and enjoys the activities egged on by Two-face, releasing his self control to not act on his every thought

The only thing with Harvey is that he feels the guilt afterwards and still sometimes prefers to work stuff out somewhat civilly if the situation calls for it

He likes you can see the difference, that he isn’t designated as “good” like most do with him

You talk with him about law, but more specifically the best legal loopholes he knows of which makes him laugh

It’s honestly been a long while since someone talked to him, to Harvey

You don’t bring up what happened to him as to not be insensitive but you do ask him about his favourite cases he’s worked on

Ones that specifically caught his eye or had the most batshit (pun intended) insane stuff that happened in it

His favourite one he told you was the one involving the theft of a car which somehow ended up turning into something completely ridiculous and somehow had a circus involved

Your laugh makes something bubble up in him, genuine joy from feeling seen along with making you smile despite the bags he’s sees under your eyes

You remind him of himself in more ways than one in both good and bad. Something that makes him worry

Back in his collage days he obsessively worked, studied and if it weren’t for Bruce he’d likely never actually socialize with anyone much

And he sees that with how your obsessed with your craft but also the fact you seem to be trying to prove yourself to someone (though he guesses that someone is yourself)

He’s always been a good judge of character, being district attorney does that to you along with being able to see through people

And he sees some deep rooted issues

You try, and try and your confident in your abilities but you keep pushing yourself. Like an eternal hunger, one which he felt once before as he tried to do better, to take on as many cases as possible to help more and more people

Wait why does he care so much….oh shi-

Yeah so he kinda blanks once he realizes this, full on fucking blue screen as your talking one day and then Two-face takes over absolutely cackling at Harvey finally fucking realizing what he’s know for like an entire month now

Two-face on the other hand knows what he wants and once he realizes that’s you he’s already buckled into this roller coaster and ain’t prepared to leave midway through

He digs deep into getting to know you, what makes you tick and trying to see the sides in which you try to bury away

You somewhat open up after some prying from him, what can he say? He’s good with words

Especially since Harvey knew how to butter people up good

You mention a bit about childhood, having nothing and not having control of your life, not having and power over it.

And then you had it and things were great. But the the doubt began to set in, you felt inferior to everyone else and in trying to get to their level you lost everything

You can deprive someone of something like good food and they wouldn’t crave it until they got a taste of it. And once they do they can’t go back to the shit they are before

Which is what had happened to you

But now your role here has given you back that again, that control and security which you now need more than anything

For who are we all if not creature that crave more

Well uh that was a lot but he can’t say he’s surprised much

Both of them really like your confidence, but Two-face especially finds it to be fun

Seeing you quite literally strut past his goons and place down your briefcase on his desk is really a sight he finds amusing

He also finds himself surprisingly soft when you do not fear staring at his “half” of Harvey. You don’t flinch at the slight of charred and burned skin nor the slight hint of burnt flesh that lingers

you don’t even seem to hesitate shaking his hand, something most would shy away from doing

It feels nice just being treated like he isn’t Frankenstein’s monster, a creation that should’ve been destroyed rather than created

Unlike the others I see both Harvey and Two-Face not really being big on making their feelings for you known

They’d bother rather stay on the sidelines as others squabble as they use that time to get closer

In that sense their much more subtle with their shared approach

But both of them have their own ways of expressing interest.

For Harvey’s his is more traditionally Romantic gestures, something he kinda picked up on from Bruce’s many endeavours and stories of how he charmed yet another woman

He writes you notes, formal yet genuine sentiment leaking into every word written on old yellowed paper

Perhaps even some gifts of Designer pieces of clothing he’d thought you’d like

Excusing it as “it didn’t fit us” or “just thought you’d like it”

He honestly gets a bit finicky when gifting these to you and whatever confidence he had slips away like sand between his fingertips

It only gets worse when you smile and accept it from him

Two-face on the other hand is more practical in his affection

Straight on telling you to your face that your attractive in both personality and looks

And supplying you with imports of supplies you need

As someone who is on the ace spectrum (demiromantic and asexual), I really like when people write about some of my favorite characters having the same sexualities as me.

I do headcanon him as demiromantic, and also pansexual.

(Down below is me explaining him being demiromantic when it comes to his feelings and also Barry + Carol...)

HOWEVER, he is... as Ollie says a space tomcat, he takes on emotions much more seriously in my hc. He can do whatever, but when it comes to how he feels romantically it became a lot harder for him to express himself romantically too. <- Trouble with love genuinely but with trying to tell people anything related with love has been a topic for him. Which is also an explaination of the acts that he does for the people he cares about because it REPLACES him trying to explain his feelngs. When you think about it, the way Hal shows his love towards people or showing that he cares comes into a lot of wild acts or making sure that he'll come to the ends of the Earth when it comes to someone. (Like in your post, which I forgot to reblog and add to it :3, in DC vs Vampires, how Hal wanted to rule the world with Barry....) ------ Unrelated but related-- While yes, he does save people, Hal is deepened through emotional bonds both platonically and romantically... (I like to take this literal, as a form of being bonded by lantern ring emotion such as Carol with holding to Star Sapphire and Barry with being expressed by HAL to hold the mantle of hope, because it took years with these two for Hal to be linked with them in some type of way -> Sorry, I'm kinda normal about the bond Carol and Hal have, there's many levels of a relationship that these two have -- Including Barry and Hal together. There's a lot of things to talk about these two.)

This first occurs with Carol. As they grew older (Teen years to Adulthood <- Before JL), it gave Hal time of falling for her. Whether it was those long talks out on drives or opening up to each other about the deeper things. Plus, bringing in the things they face together and the collaborations these two agree on or disagree or OVERALL the way they communicate through different forms when it came to both in suit and out of suit. One of my thoughts for my Demiromantic Hal hc. Not only this but they also have a deep connection together later when it comes the Star Sapphire Possessions + Hal being Reborn in Spectre while Carol has presumably moved on. Although it took a bit to figure himself out, he both cares and loves Carol in impossible ways that could be explained. Which leads me to the next case...

Sharing to add on for your post... But this is ALSO an idea I've been having for a fic... But I don't have time to write it ALL because I want to make it to many chapters. Be Prepared because I like when you mention HalBarry to me, I get happy because I don't talk about it to people. I also love to hear HalBarry thoughts because I project things that people don't get much like what I'm about to write..

The way Hal feels when it comes to being in love, is partially dumbfounded, it's something that sets him back when he realizes that there's an elephant in the room. One he describes as longing in a way where he didn't know he felt this fast. When in reality it has been years since this friendship. Yes, feelings for one of his best friends. One that he's been friends with since the beginning of the Justice League formation. Which was long... His hair is grey and the smile that was once without wrinkles now forms lines whenever he smiles or laughs.. In his mind, it feels that the feelings that are coming into play feel dangerous. How it makes his palms sweat just being near Barry. How when he isn't being occupied by anything busy, he's thinking about a fond memory with Barry. How Barry makes him smile, the way everything about his friend just makes him giddy like some teenage puppy love. Something he never got to experience but god, when he's with Barry, he feels so young. That even imagining them growing old together is just one step to keeping Hal feeling so young. It's like being awkward when you have no idea where to put your hands. Especially with a friend you've had for many years. A friend who's been there by his side that Hal now begins to think an eye for god knows how many minutes. The friendship teasing between the two and the playful chases that they would take on those evenings when everything just seemed perfect. How standing on that cliff when they were younger, the intimacy of the stare they held. Their deep connection that brings Hal to appreciate every moment he's had with him. How they're practically linked in color. How hope filled the willpower that settled in his personality. That when it came to Barry, it felt like he might have something to lose. Something and someone he's lost before. He knows what it felt to lose Barry. Which one proved his love for Barry to be a lot stronger than what he first thought when it came to the last glimpse of friendship. How that bond turned into a strong form for what Hal should keep fighting for. It was so unexpected. So unexpected to be in love with your best friend.

Top 5 Jason ships

My current favourite, and one that's likely to remain in the top 2-3 at least, is Jaymia (Jason Todd + Mia Dearden). I love a good meet ugly between character foils, and I genuinely see a lot of potential in a long-term dynamic between them (ESPECIALLY for Mia's character, who otherwise has a lot less space in the narrative and less potential to carve herself such a contentious, impactful one).

A good runner up is Jaytim (Jason Todd + Tim Drake). Kinda hilarious given my initial feelings about Tim but I'm been converted, what can I see. They work, and they would bring absolute chaos in both a watsonian and doylist sense if they happened. So I honestly wish they did xDD. Also (and this one of the many things this ship could have in common with Jaymia, which is why I like them both lol), thanks to the characters' natures + an explosive first meeting I think they err. Have significant kinky potential lmao. It teases my brain ngl.

Then I'd pick Jayroy (Jason Todd + Roy Harper), but exclusively in the new earth continuity (the writer for their shared runs post reboot is #1 in my shit list). They could soooo be ~the one that got away~ for each other (I mean, they could also work, but my preference for these two is the bittersweet route). And Jason is just Roy's type, frankly. Don't let anyone tell you otherwise.

At the moment I'd give the next place to Jayeddie(rose) (Jason Todd + Eddie Bloomberg + sometimes Rose Wilson). Jason and Rose only work for me in very specific circumstances and in this... not romantic, not platonic but a secret third thing way, but when they do work (like I think they would in my Jason Survives AU -I think that Jason would benefit from tangling with an anti-hero lol), they add certain spice to Jayeddie that I really dig. Because I go soft for their childhood long-distance friendship, but I do like some edge in my ships.

Hmm. I think number 5 (and potentially 3-4) could vary depending on whether I've been focused on one other ship lately. That's not the case now, but I have thought about Jason/Two-Face lately (the only villain I'm interested in shipping with Jason lol), so I'm picking them. Two-Face interests me more than a large number of DC villains (pls don't let Misha Collins's version influence you xD); and he and Jason have an incredibly juicy pre-established relationship, as Harvey is a person of interest in Willis Todd's death. Plus like... Harvey struggles to play on the side of the angels sometimes, which would be interesting to position vis a vis Jason. AND Jason would. Legitimately not give a single fuck about his scars, which I think Harvey would feel Some Type of Way about.

Ian and Barbara from Doctor Who! And Two/Jamie. And also Mae/Linda from DC (bc of the icon)

IanBarbara (do they have a ship name? that's what I'm calling them) is perhaps one of the most "makes sense" pairings in all of Doctor Who (bold statement but they really do work). I wouldn't say I actively ship them though because I'm kinda attached to these heteros being really good friends but they are a good pairing (I know they get together in the EU tho, which is fine because it's not a "quick! we need to pair off these characters regardless of if it makes sense!" situation). They're Mulder and Scully to me, basically.

TwoJamie as a dynamic compels me more (love whatever they got going on) but I would say it makes slightly less sense, mostly because of the age gap (not between the Doctor and Jamie because he's a Time Lord, he's always going to be old but because of the 24 year age gap between the actors. Since 450 year old people don't exist, as a viewer I can only go by actor ages really). I don't think shipping them is bad or whatever, it's just hard not to notice it. The reason they're not higher in the "compels me" section is because I haven't decided whether I view them platonically or not so they're in limbo there, and I'm probably not going to decide definitivley because it's not about that for me.

I just really love how ride or die they are for each other immediately like when Two sees him again in The Underwater Menace and he's like "JAMIE!!!" even though he was not that happy to see the others (tunnel vision frfr). And in the Jamie audio story where Raven remarks Two seems particularly find of him 💚. And! How that affection remains across incarnations. Colin Baker has functionally said his Doctor is aroace (exact quote: "Love is a human emotion and the Doctor isn't human" (which... saying love is what makes us human is not great)) but the point is Six still cares for Jamie so much, regardless of the type of love he feels. Like in the Wreck of the Titan, the first thing he does after getting Jamie back is take him on a luxury cruise he'd been saving tickets for 🥺. (Well, attempts to do that. They end up on the Titanic LMAO).

MaeLinda isn't here because I haven't read Supergirl (1996), sorry (over 700 comics read seems like a lot but it's actually nothing 😔). Mae's my icon because I liked her in the Death of Superman, but I will read more of her stuff (and then gain MaeLinda opinions) but I'm currently possessed by my Doctor Who obsession.

In general, I tend to be less of an avid romance shipper and more of a dynamic enjoyer, which sometimes means shipping and sometimes doesn't. It's about closeness, not necessarily about how that closeness is defined (platonic? queerplatonic? romantic? who knows). They're partners (ambiguous).

What is that??? Another art challenge thing that is vaguely batman themed????

Let me give you guys some background information before I really get into it. Me and my friends who also love DC have done this for a few years now. It’s basically the normal “do an art thing for this prompt for this day” but, ya know, Batman themed and a bit more complex. It’s been fun, some of them do it using traditional art, some digitally, some use it as writing prompts, and so on and so forth. But due to bucket loads of conflicts, a lot of us can’t participate (literally just me and 2 others who can😭) and we don’t want this to die out so a few chats and a cartoony montage of me building this design like it’s a house later, and here we are!

About Batober

You know how these work. Every day in October, you will be given a prompt. You will then create something that you associate with or just straight up is said prompt. All the prompts are randomized every year except the 31st (which will always be Scarecrow). You can use whatever media you like (e.g., writing, visual art, edits, etc) and you really don’t have to wait for specific days or anything to start creating.

But with Batober, we’ve changed some things up to make it a bit more fun and challenging. Personally, I find a lot of these 30/31 day prompt challenges a bit too open ended, so we added a new system with it.

Now to clear some things up.

We chose and stuck with “situation,” “relationship,” and “status” because those three are really broad but at the same time can give you more direction. We had tried some other types of prompts in the past but these just kinda stuck.

Situation is just an event they may be participating in or observing or something in between. I like to keep the situations only a few sentences and something that would happen any day in Gotham. 

Relationships aren’t just “platonic” or “romantic,” I like to get really specific with it so you can really get to thinking who that person or thing could be. And hey, if it’s not a character that is the main prompt, it just makes it more interesting!

Status is really broad and basically is anything that happens mentally and sometimes physically (like sometimes I use “injured” or “dead” for status). This can be emotions, mental states, addictions, etc. I don’t really define status as anything, it’s just to add another level of flavor to the mix.

This is my first time hosting one of these so I’m just doing what I see a lot of others do. Just use #batober2024 and make sure to add what day your artwork is for. If you’d like to @ me, go for it! This depends entirely on the relative ages involved, since I have two muses on here that are both over 2000 years old and at that point worrying about age gaps is really kinda pointless. That being said, I will not ship anything beyond purely romantic with muses below the age of 18 as a general rule, and that only because I have two muses with minor-aged verses [Dick and Conrad].

Are you selective when shipping?

To an extent; I ship chemistry above all, so there's no guarantee that - as an example - my Bucky is gonna be solidly romantically attracted to any given portrayal of Steve, or that I the writer am gonna click with the writer of any given Steve out there. Chemistry does not just mean chemistry of the characters; if our styles clash or we don't really mesh well then shipping's probably not gonna happen.

How far do steamy moments have to go before they’re considered NSFW? 

I tend to be very lenient here, but in general once the bits below the belt start getting named and/or there is full nudity I start tagging. Unless my partner starts tagging and/or readmore-ing first, in which case I follow my partner's lead and do the same.

So like. Ive been trying to work myself up to writing again seeing as i havent had any fucking energy or words or brain (energy/creativity) or like, literally fucking anything for months now. (The reasons for which are Many and Exhausting and I am So Ready for this year to be over lmao. And also bodies are fucking awful and so are brains (mental health plus the previously mentioned) and also just some personal stuff.) And part of that is reading fic.

The downsides to reading fics is that I sometimes see the most godawful fucking takes about Kori and Dick/Kori while trying to find/read fics, both just trying to read regular fic and fics specifically focused on trauma like I tend to seek out. Like. She in particular isn't a character I seek out to read about and, though I do love when she shows up, I don't really read much with her as a focus. She just doesn't grab the parts of my brain that would lead to that (tho tbf, only Dick and Wally really do that in DC, though there are a few others that are close) and as much as I can love dick/kori and fics with them they aren't really the ship I go for. It can be a nice read, but it's never really been my thing (i have similar feelings on babs/dick, tho to be completely honest I also like dick/babs less than dick/kori. I rarely if ever read romantic dick/babs, and basically never where the relationship is current lol. And surprisingly, given the givens, not completely because of the Tarantula situation) Tho tbf, romance in general can be tricky with me. (Listen. Ik I write a lot of shipfics but that doesn't mean I'm always comfy with it, or ig more accurately how it's portrayed a lot of the time. Especially if I feel like it's taking away from platonic relationships.) But like. The amount of times I run into complete like, idk demonization?? Of her is kinda fucking infuriating. For numerous reasons. And I'm saying this as a Dick Grayson fan.

Like, I haven't really covered.... any of the whole thing in fault lines yet (listen.... LISTEN I am Tired and busy and have health issues and fault lines is a fucking monster of a fic, I'm doing my best. There's kind of a fucking lot of shit to cover tho, even with the things I don't include from Canon that I either don't know or don't really want to add because of various reasons, and I am one person. And it's a really fucking hard fic to write sometimes okay,) not to mention the fact that it's narrated by an unreliable narrator which means the little bits that have come up are SKEWED they are SKEWED, Dick is not always right in his p.o.v of things!! But anyways, back to the point, even though it hasn't really come up yet Kori is never gonna be introduced as the villain of that relationship. Relationships and why they work or fall apart are fucking complicated!!!!! ESPECIALLY when trauma is involved. Like, I'm not gonna begrudge you if you don't like her because I'm not a fucking asshole. And I'm not gonna really try and force someone who doesn't like her for the reasons I've seen in fics surrounding Mirage and/or dick/kori's relationship. The former because I do understand why, even knowing her side of it all, it might not endear her to you, and the latter because I honestly do not have enough energy (emotional or in general) nor desire to get involved in anyway over internet fucking discourse for fictional fucking characters. I'm here to enjoy myself and relax/vent some of my shit through characters I love and world's I love, not to make myself upset because I get emotional easily when misunderstandings and characters being treated unfairly happen.

Which might seem at odds to what I said earlier about godawful takes. But part of my problem is that it's never really Kori in the fics. It's always just this one dimensional fanon version of her thats only there to be the villain. There are fics I read with her in what might count as an antagonist role, if you really feel like labeling it that, that deal with everything that dont do that and still manage to get all their points across or succeed in their writing. Usually just leaning into her not quite understanding that what Mirage did to him is rape because her experiences with rape was so different to his. Or even just the fact that she was so wrapped up in her trauma responses and her hurt and anger she didn't see it from his point of view. Or hell!!! Even just being herself, but not seeing past her own feelings of betrayal. And also just that. Relationships are Complicated!!!!!!

There's no fucking need to turn her into a hateful bitch with no actual purpose or character outside of being a prop to turn dick into an incapable, honestly kinda infantilized, hurt little 'owo' child.

Especially not when she is literally also a fucking rape victim.

And once again, I'm saying this as a Dick Grayson fan who honestly doesn't quite enjoy Kori-centric things.

There is just!!! No need!!!! Please there are complexities. There is a character there!!! And it is, honestly, so fucking boring when having her as an actual complex character offers so much more for one to explore in a story.

All my DC ships involve Bruce since he's my all-time blorbo, and I find a lot of Bruce's relationships interesting. I've been a Batman fan for a long time, and I've shipped different things in different moments. One of my first Bruce ships was actually Wonderbat, with Superbat being a close second (very much due to the Justice League: Unlimited animated series, which then got me into comics Wonderbat and Superbat as well). I kinda shipped the Trinity as an OT3 for a bit, but Superbat was the ship to win out for a longer time, especially because of the Injustice: Gods Amons Us games and comics, and Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. As of recent, I'm also very fond of Ghostbat. Otherwise, even though I don't necessarily ship them, I like Batcat, Brutanna, Brutalia, Twobat/Bruharvey and Riddlebat; both from a romantic and a platonic standpoint. I also find the relationship between Bruce and Alfred very interesting, and his dynamic with Dick, Jason, Tim, Damian and Cass too, when it comes to the Family. Oh, and Kate too, I love their interactions.

To be honest though, ship-wise, it's Batjokes and Superbat that I hyperfixated most on (still working on a comic timeline for both, and then some). Which is kind of funny, since the two are as different as night and day. Batjokes is literally "I can make him worse," while Superbat is "I can fix him." Although I'm not really active within Superbat since my understanding of the ship is a lot more angsty than what I've generally seen in the fandom. While I can certainly see them getting together, I don't think the relationship would last, and I would kill for a good break-up fic... (If anyone's got recs for that, do send them my way.)

Changing Robin’s Colors

You know, when Tim came out as queer, I saw a few YouTube channels and the like trying to do a deep analysis on why Tim was a popular choice to make queer, and for the most part they were very good, but they all made a few mistakes in their reporting, which is understandable when you’re not as obsessed with Tim’s 30+ year history as I am, and even I miss (or misremember) things. 

But one thing that still kinda bothers me these months later is I remember Tim’s costume change getting written off as “thought to be” something he did to honor Conner, as if it was fanon. 

I want it to be clear, Tim changing his costume FOR CONNER is outright canon. 

In the aftermath of the Infinite Crisis event, where Conner dies, every series in the DC Universe leaped forward in chronology by a year's time (One Year Later) and the missing year was simultaneously published as the series “52.” Tim fucks off to join Bruce in the desert because Bruce is having his own crisis. 

We don’t really get to see Tim choosing his new suit. When he leaves to join Bruce overseas, he’s wearing his original Robin gear. 

Tim just kinda chills out and meditates in Nanda Parbat while Bruce is having his crisis, just kinda staying with him instead of living his own life even though there’s nothing he can do to help him, seems like Tim’s parentification kicking in. Tim’s all but an emancipated minor at this point, after Jack Drake’s death but before Bruce Wayne’s adoption; not sure what fake!uncle’s up to atm, but Tim really doesn’t have to stay, he could have gone back home. Tim seems oddly “fine” during this part of the run, even though we know just how bad he gets mentally during One Year Later, so I get the sense Tim might be using Bruce’s crisis to distract himself from his own and put off having to deal with his feelings. 

Tim wears civilian clothes during this time. 

Once Bruce gets his head on straight, he and Tim return to the US in time for Superboy’s memorial. For some reason Bruce comes as Bruce Wayne, and Tim comes as Robin. 

Tim has changed his uniform colors by this point. 

Tim outright states his reasons for changing his colors in this comic (52, #51). Jimmy Olson asks him “What’s the deal with the new suit” and Tim just tells him, looking up at Conner’s statue “They were his colors.” 

It’s not a fanon interpretation, it’s outright canon text. 

Cause it’s kinda buried in 52, which is it’s own run and people tend to miss entirely, this scene ends up lost in the comic recs, but it’s an honestly really STRONG moment. I can’t read it without hearing Tim say “They were his colors.” in just this small, sad little voice. 

And just - Jimmy’s little “oh,” like he knows he’s just stumbled into something deeply personal, private, and painful. 

Shit hurts, man. It’s a good scene. And whether it reads platonic or romantic is up to the reader, but there’s no fanon to be found on this front. It just is.

A/N: Thank you so much! So I’m totally dense about greek myths and stuff and I was gonna make her Thor’s daughter at first but then I forgot about that I did Hades but when I remembered it was already written so oh well

You were the daughter of Hades and Persephone

You had kind of a weird childhood

Don’t get me wrong, it was a great childhood

Being princess of the underworld and the daughter of the only sane people in all of Olympus had its perks

But compared to everyone else, it was weird

Hades was extremely protective of you because you were a mortal

Meaning that you could die

The thought of having to greet your soul when you died filled him with so much grief

So, he kept you sheltered, kept you safe

Never letting you lift a finger

As princess you had everything you ever needed and everything your heart desired

Since birth you had been trained by Athena and Aries under your father’s watchful eyes

When you were 16 and you finally wanted to see the rest of the world, you begged your parents to let you go to the mortal world

It took months of begging and when they said no, you’d get so upset that all the flowers in the underworld would wither

Persephone seeing how much you wanted to see the world

So, she convinces Hades to let you go

And he agrees but just as long as you promise to visit

You go to the human world and you’re so oblivious about human life that it’s concerning

Walking around in a floor length dress wondering why everyone else wasn’t dressed the same way

This is how you meet Diana Prince

She recognizes you immediately when you arrive at the Smithsonian, looking mildly confused

Your eyes light up when you see a familiar face

You stay with her for a couple of days before she decides that you’d be better off at the cave

That’s exactly what happens

Even though you whine a little and say you want to stay with her

She just knows it’s because you’re nervous about being in a new place

You know that if you were in any real danger your parents would inflict rage on the mortal world

Feeling mildly comforted at the idea

Diana doesn’t tell them to add you to the group

She just tells them that you need a place to stay and someone to help you find your way around

The first people you meet are Batman, Nightwing and Robin

Immediately being comforted just by looking at them

Batman reminded you of your dad and Nightwing of your mom

And Diana trusted them so you did too

You end up following Tim and Dick around for the next couple of days like a lost puppy

Dick finds it amusing

Tim is kinda unsettled but thinks you’re stupid for some reason

It isn’t until he actually talks to you, he realizes you’re much more profound than he gave you credit for

You don’t officially join the team

You just live there

Everyone thinks that you have no training whatsoever

And that you’re just a princess

Which you technically are but

Until you’re watching them train one day and then remember the days you would spar with Athena

It looked like so much fun

Immediately you wanted to join in

Some of them rolled their eyes and thought you were wasting their time

The others were happy to let you join in

They wanted to make Bart spar you but you looked around contemplatively before pointing at Tim

“If it is alright with you, I wish for you to be my partner.”

Tim blushing because what you said sounded like you were choosing him as a life partner, rather than sparring partner

Of course, Bart teases him for it as well as the others

When Tim walks up to the middle, Dick subtlety tells him to take it easy on you and he nods

The match is over before he can even make a move

You had the speed and strength of a god, it wasn’t a surprise

Not to you at least

To everyone else, kind of a huge surprise

Standing over him and giggling

“I want a rematch.”

“But of course.”

Spending the rest of the day sparring with him

He doesn’t beat you even once

And the others just watch you throw him around for an afternoon

After a while it stops being funny and Nightwing is almost concerned

It kind of hurts his pride but you still acknowledge him

“You know, for a human, you’re very skilled.”

“Uh, thank you?”

After that you go through the other members quite quickly

Some of them gave you a little trouble, like Conner

But you managed to be undefeated

They all think you should join the team after that and you agree

Spending more time with Tim that way

Always talking to him about your family’s history and stuff

Telling him all about your parents love story when he asked to hear about it

You talk so fondly of it and he’s honestly just kind of shocked that Greek Mythology isn’t mythology

I mean, he knew it was real because of Diana

But he never really understood how real these gods were

He falls for you

He loves the way your eyes light up and you smile at him

He loves the way you’re always eager to learn

He loves that you’re so kind and gentle but can also beat people up without even trying

He asks you out but it didn’t go as well as he was hoping

“Do you want to go out with me?”

“Yes, a walk sounds lovely.”

“(Y/N), I like you.”

“Aw that’s so sweet Tim, I like you too, friend.”

Everyone else starts enjoying the way he crashes and burns all the time

And Tim would stop asking usually

But he knows it in his bones that you like him too

But he has no other way to tell you aside from marching up to you and kissing you

Makes that Plan B tho

Plan A is getting you a bouquet of your favourite flowers and telling you that he likes you

Romantically

Not platonically

You grin widely and tell him you like him too

Kissing you just as the sun set that day

It’s one of your favourite memories

His too

Everyone being extremely happy and supporting of your relationship

You can tell Batman is trying to threaten you

But your father is god of the underworld and you have a three headed dog

So, when you and Tim are caught kissing in some hidden crevice in the cave by him and he tries telling you off, you can’t help you smile adorably

“Don’t worry Batman, I have no intention of dishonouring your son.”

Batman is like ???

And Tim is either like “Please don’t speak like we’re in the 1800s.”

or “Please dishonour me.”

He buys you pomegranates as a joke but then you prank him saying that if he eats them, he has to return to the underworld with you

Dick (Nightwing) approves

You like falling asleep in his arms so more often than not you plead with him to stay at the cave and sleep with you

He knows relationships in Olympus generally move a lot quicker so he ends up having to sit you down and explain everything to you so you know his boundaries

Totally accepting them and never going farther than he wants

You appreciate the small things

Like sitting in his lap and eating breakfast

Or being the small spoon

You become the team’s resident couple

Being part of a team, a family is honestly so much fun

Everyone thinking your invincible and practically indestructible

Until one day you’re hurt on the battlefield

Everyone freaking out and getting you back to the cave so you could be treated

The next morning, Tim goes to check up on you and finds something shocking

He’s not sure what to be more surprised by

Cerberus napping at the foot of your bed

Or you crying

Even though the giant, three-headed dog freaks him out, he still sits beside you and asks what’s wrong

“My father demands that I return home. He cannot stand the thought of me being hurt.”

His heart stops

He likes you so much, even bordering on love

And he doesn’t want you to leave

But who was he to stop the God of the Underworld?

Comforting you when you cried, hugging you tightly

“Shh it’s gonna be okay.”

You return home after that and it breaks Tim’s heart

You don’t officially break up but it’s kind of implied because you can never return back to the mortal world

Him being depressed for the next few months but he hides it well

Even though everyone knows how he’s feeling

Things aren’t any better on your end

Your heart aches with every second your away from him

Until one day it happens

Your soul wants to be with Tim

So, it tries to leave your body

You have a heart attack that night and nearly die and it horrifies Hades

He goes all the way to the mortal world to find Tim

Tim doesn’t quite understand how you could have a heart attack from missing him

But is still worried and agrees to go to the Underworld to see you

When he gets there, you’re in so much pain

But once he brings you into his arms you feel sated

When he kisses you, everything fades into a dull ache

Hades wants Tim to stay in the Underworld after that but you argue and tell him to go back to the land of the living

This wasn’t the place for him

“I’ll give up on you, I promise, but you can’t stay here any longer my love.”

“I don’t want to leave your side.”

“I’m sorry, but you know we can’t be.”

Tim goes the next morning and it breaks your heart but you know that it’s for the best

You spend the next few weeks in such sorrow that all of Persephone’s plants die

Hades and Persephone both see how much you love Tim and they are reminded of themselves when they were younger

Making a joint decision to let you go back to the mortal world

But you have to live a long life

That’s the one condition

You running into the cave and crashing into Tim’s arms

Kissing him there and feeling everything go right in the world

You fulfil your parents wish

And live a long, happy life by Tim’s side

Some of my Mello headcanons because why not

Most of these are just kinda random or stupid inside jokes between me and my friend. Also some of them are based on if Mello and Matt survived in the series. Anyway, I hope you all enjoy!

Feel free to take this as platonic or romantic!

Mello only eats milk chocolate. He tried dark chocolate once and said it was “too bitter”

He had tried one of those organic chocolate bars or whatever that’s only got like 75% chocolate in it, but it “ruined” dark chocolate for him

He also just hates white chocolate. The only way he’ll eat it is if it’s on something else like a bonbon or pretzels, but even then those treats won’t be the first on his snack list

Mello made Matt go on a chocolate run once b/c he was running low and they weren’t expecting a restock until a few days later

In a moment of sleep deprived confusion, Matt accidentally bought dark chocolate instead of milk chocolate

It wasn’t a lot, maybe only five or six bars, just enough to tide Mello over until the restock came in. Yet Mello was still upset that it wasn’t milk chocolate

Mello ate the chocolate anyway because he wasn’t going to waste it (or make the already tired Matt return to the store), but he made a point to complain about it the entire time

Mello says that Hershey’s special dark chocolate is okay. He wouldn’t eat a whole bar as a first choice, but the occasional little snack sized bar is okay

Mello is a big rock fan (if the leather wasn’t obvious enough), and while he doesn’t have a favorite sub genre, he does enjoy indie and 80’s rock

Some of his favourite bands are Mother Mother, AC/DC, and MCR

He has one Spotify playlist that he listens to religiously that’s just all his favourite songs and he adds to it constantly

Sometimes if he’s really focused on his work, he’ll listen through the entire playlist and end up in the “songs based off your playlist” playlist

Usually he doesn’t realize he’s listened through the whole list until he hits a song he doesn’t really like and goes to skip it (b/c he rarely skips songs)

Every now and again Matt will take Mello’s phone and just add really random songs to Mello’s playlist

I’m talking songs like the Pokémon rap, songs by the living tombstone, lofi music, etc.

He does it to both mess with Mello (he finds it funny when the blonde actually realizes what songs were added), and as a fun little way to give Mello a break from the rock music

Even though Mello acts annoyed, he never skips any of the songs Matt adds and never deletes them from the playlist

Mello isn’t a big cuddlier (blame the way he was raised at Wammy’s)

Though if you can get him to relax and cuddle with you, he can be pretty docile. He may whine, squirm, and curse at first, but eventually he’ll give in to his fate and relax.

Whenever Matt can tell Mello is having a really stressful day, he will grab Mello, turn on a cheesy movie and force Mello to cuddle with him

Of course Mello will scream, hit, and insult Matt, but the gamer’s heard it all and knows Mello doesn’t mean it. He also knows the blonde will eventually relax so Matt doesn’t take it to heart

Besides, Matt enjoys seeing his partner relax for once especially when Mello falls asleep with his head in Matt’s lap so a few empty insults is nothing

Despite being incredibly intelligent…Mello will occasionally do kinda stupid things

Like sometimes he is stuck in a situation where he brain just kinda doesn’t analyze it like it normally would, and Mello ends up doing really dumb shit

For example; Mello once broke one of prongs off his laptop charger and the little metal bit was stuck in the outlet

For whatever reason, may it be sleep deprivation, stress, or combination of the two, instead of turning off the electricity through the breaker box…Mello threw the tv remote at the outlet

Granted…it worked…the prong came out of the outlet…but it wasn’t the smartest idea

Matt was very confused when he came home to a broken outlet cover and remote, but then laughed for like two hours when Mello explained what happened

Matt has yet to let Mello live this fiasco down and will tease his partner about it whenever he can

Of course it’s not often that Mello has these “off” days, but when he does it’s usually attributed to a lack of sleep or too much stress

Matt is more likely to throw a remote at the outlet though ngl

As much as he hates to admit it, Mello gets flustered easily.

Once again, blame how he was raised in Wammy’s house, but Mello is not used to affection and becomes flustered when he’s shown any form of it.

Matt once called Mello “cute” when he walked in on the blonde actually looking relaxed. Mello’s face went 50 shades of tomato red and he nearly threw his laptop mouse at Matt.

Now Matt makes it his job to show Mello any form of affection, usually in the form of cute little terms of endearment or cuddling

To this day Mello will still blush any time he is shown affection, but he is slowly starting to get use to it

At least, he’s getting used to when Matt is showing him affection

Mello is ticklish as fuck. It’s mainly isolated to his sides and he’s so ticklish that just ghosting your hands by his sides will have him jumping.

Other then cuddles, tickling Mello is one of Matt’s ways to get the blonde to feel better when he’s upset.

Matt will usually only tickle Mello until he can tell the blonde is feeling better, but sometimes if they’re just messing around Matt may get hit

Matt also sometimes just forgets how ticklish Mello is and has gotten hit b/c the gamer ghosted his hands to close to Mello’s sides

Mello does apologise when he does hit Matt. Matt usually laughs it off and they go on with their day.

So we all know Mello and Matt grew up in London right? Well, when Mello left for America he tried his hardest to get rid of his accent

He did eventually succeed while he was with the mafia, but his accent will occasionally slip out when he gets really upset

Sometimes Matt teases Mello incessantly just so he can hear Mello’s accent return. Matt thinks the accent is cute. Mello hates it.

Mello and Matt’s favourite tv show is Victorious, change my mind! 😤
