- scary dog privileges wherever you go with jace, but he is ALL bite with one and only one warning bark.

- when a hand that isn't his brushes your thigh in a club, fingers get broken. when a cat caller thinks his compliment just has to be said to you, he most likely won't be able to speak again for weeks. And god forbid any villain try to use you as bait for jason, they've all learned if they value their life to never touch you. He's all for justice not vengeance until anyone tries to mess with you, then those words always get mixed up in his head.

- sometimes you cant even complain about people, they end up getting randomly harassed by a certain someone until they just move town

- jason is adamant as long as he's alive there won't be a problem of yours he can't solve with a little violence

- he tends to fall hard but with you he brought the house down with him

- both for your safety and his own maniacal flirting strategy: you admire shoes but frown at the price tag? tim's buying you the matching bag to go with the shoes he bought the second you looked at them.

- before you knew how insanely in love with you he was, you truly thought he was a mind reader

- well he kind of was, seeing as he scrolled through your search history every night to know which talking points to bring up with you

- once you finally fell for him and set some stronger boundaries he still occasionally found himself double checking your location when you weren't by his side, or lazily purchasing every item on your pinterest boards, he just can't help but dote on you

Damian Wayne

- damian doesn't really get close to people, but as always you were his exception

- however, this means his list of people to hang out with is extremely short, and he saw no problem in wanting to be around you wherever you went whenever he could

- like a kind of tall, dark, and brooding puppy, he quietly followed you everywhere, and when you strictly told him he couldn't follow along, you always noticed a perched shadow just a few building away

- eventually you got used to rolling over to damian coolly watching you sleep or patiently waiting to pick you up from your classes/job, happy just to walk you to your car

- just like jason, damian had a brutal and heartless style of problem-solving when it came to anyone giving you trouble

- too often you found yourself standing in between his rage a massive mistake whether it was nearly assaulting a friend of yours who tried to ask you out or threatening to buy out your entire workplace when you didn't get the promotion you wanted

- forever cooling his rage was worth having his adoration though, and you were happy to have your overbearing shadow follow you throughout your days

Dick Grayson

- for such a bubbly leader, dick often struggled with communication

- always used to bearing his problems alone youd spent too many nights tracking down your own boyfriend only to beg him to tell you what's wrong

- he never understood that you didn't always want to solve his problems, but hold his sadness or hurt with him

- it was the worst when he was upset with you, whether it was jealously or insecurity that crept into his mind

- he'd take off in a rush hoping you wouldn't notice but you always did, either hunting him down or simply waiting with open arms for him to come home

- it would take years to teach your traveling-circus-raised boyfriend that you weren't going anywhere, ever.

- but, this made for many heartfelt nights where he held you and promised you the world, as if you'd opened him up in a way no one else could, pulling forward the most magical and loving side of your sweet boy

Hi Anon! I appreciate the question! Many people have different ideas of what a yandere is and how they should be portrayed. I’d like to start off by giving you the definition of what most people see a yandere:

Now, my definition of a yandere is a person who is completely devoted to another, to the point where they develop unhealthy tendencies. I tend to write my Yandere characters in a more realistic way. (I tend to stay away from the whole ‘oh gosh you just killed this person because they looked at me weird’ kind of writing style. It’s just not my cup of tea)

Since I’ve always been a big fan of psychological horror and dark romance, I portray yanderes as narcissistic, manipulative, and simply not safe to be around. They might have stalkerish tendencies, yes, but I like to focus more on how they would affect the person they like. (I know it kinda takes away from the whole definition of yandere) Basically, I just like turning the usual lovestruck, insane yandere into a more realistic version of themselves (as realistic as they could get in the ninja world. I hate completely altering a character’s personality into something they’re not).

What do I think of yanderes? Well, I certainly wouldn’t want to meet one in real life. I like reading and writing them in fiction, but in no way shape or form do I romanticize or agree with whatever the Yandere does. I do not condone any type abuse because it’s absolutely vile that someone might go out their way to hurt others. Having said that, I think many people might not find the way I write yanderes very pleasing, because it’s not what they’re used to seeing, and that’s totally okay!

Now to answer you final questions:

I believe there are a few characters that might have the possibilities of becoming a Yandere or having Yandere tendencies:

Obito (way too obsessive):

I know a lot of people think the same way as I do. I believe that Obito is a man with serious problems.

He technically grew up alone, just with his grandmother. He almost succeeded in putting everyone in an infinite genjutsu, where he could distort reality to his liking and be with the girl he loved.

It’s safe to say that he would be a yandere where if push comes to shove, he will do whatever it takes to have you near him.

He is obsessive (he had a lot of pictures of Rin when he was young, so…). He needs to remember your face clearly, even when he’s away from you. You’re the reason why he breathes. He lives because you allow him to. That’s what he thinks.

Madara(protective and controlling):

Hear me out, this man is complicated.

Sometimes he would put his desires over you, but if we’re going to be honest, he’d shred down the world for you.

If something ever happened to you, Madara would take no time in avenging you. He’s a little different to Obito. Although he’s obsessive, he doesn’t completely revolve his life around you.

He likes feeling possessive over you, but he can leave at any time that he needs to. You have to wait for him. He’ll be a protective yandere, looking out for you and making sure you understand that he’ll be the only one there for you.

Kakashi (protective, pathological liar) :

Whoa? Kakashi? Really? Yes really. This man has grown up alone. He made friends, they died. They left. Anytime he got close to someone, they’d disappear. It’s only logical that if he were to fall for someone, he’d like to protect them.

However, this protectiveness can get overwhelming. He knows you’re capable of protecting yourself, he simply doesn’t want you to. If one thing he’s done wrong in life, it’s protecting those around him. This was his time to make up for all those times he failed.

He isn’t used to affection, but when he has it, he craves it. Badly. You need to remind him that you love him too, or else he might just think you’re ready to leave him at any time.

He isn’t above lying to get you to do something. He’s lied before, so why not lie again? If it gets things going his way, he won’t care. A little harmless lie can turn into a bunch of them.

Sasuke (distant, but protective) :

If he likes you, he definitely won’t show it. If he genuinely cares, he won’t be above doing anything inhumane. He’s already done a lot of things in this world that got him hate, adding another one to his list wouldn’t be a problem.

He’ll work from the shadows. He’ll love you from far away. He isn’t really affectionate and doesn’t know how to show it.

One things certain though, you’re his lover. He will give his life for you or take another.

You ask him for the moon and he will serve it in a silver platter before leaving.

Do I think other character could be Yandere? Well yes, this is fiction after all, but these are the best that fit that description. Anyways, thank you for your questions! I’d love to answer more if anyone else is curious or wants to request some Yandere content!

I believe it started of as a one-sided relationship on fords part (wow shocker) but it wasn't really love because he's ace it was more of infatuation (this stems from the fact he is a science boy and like ooo demon triangle thing) mistaken for love (I'm pretty sure this is common among aroace people or I just had an original experience) and maybe bill had just a little bit of the same feeling but instead of infatuation it was just pure obsession and when they had there little “tragic break up” and bill finally came to realize his obsession and it consumed him (idk i think that how abusive obsession is) and he realized he can’t live with out ford (i man he can but unhealthy obsession) and thus bills one sided relationship with ford where he just tries to get his puppet back but can’t figure out why he needs him so bad so he comes to the (subconscious) cuncultion there in love (because of course that’s the reasonable decision) and then you all know what comes after

Actually here's a great example that literally just happened yesterday in the ULO Discord that nearly had me on the floor LOL This is from Episode 70:

Like I didn't even believe that that was real until I was told what episode it was from and I was just. Astounded and flabbergasted. The over-shading of the blanket that just makes it look like a really bad edit. Insane.

And yeah, there are a lot of old panels that hit different now that the rose-colored glasses have been removed, crushed, and thrown into the trash compactor.

I think that's why it makes it all the more amusing when people come into my inbox and ask me "wait, why did you like LO to begin with?? It's always been ugly as shit, I think you're just romanticizing it" because like... there's something to be said about art and subjectivity, even if something is ugly to one person doesn't mean it isn't beautiful to someone else. It's why I try not to be too mean towards the fans of this comic for still enjoying it, because while I definitely have strong opinions about how "LO has gotten worse" and what kind of following Rachel has cultivated (cough cough), there are also just as equally valid arguments that LO has never begin good to begin with that I can't necessarily disagree with now that I'm looking back on it with a more critical eye.

That said, there's tons of media that I enjoy that is objectively awful. Like y'all, you don't need to take my opinions about a dumb pink x blue fantasy romance comic seriously, I like Starfox Adventures-

Like yeah it's a badly made rushed piece of shit that was developed right on the ass end of Rare's glory days and was really an original IP (Dinosaur Planet) that got Frankenstein'd into a Starfox game so it could "sell better" for Nintendo, but I don't give a fuck, I love Starfox Adventures and some day I wanna be in the top 10 speedrunner leaderboards for it, which I know doesn't mean much because no one is speedrunning Starfox, but I do and no one can take that away from me dammit-

Anyways. Lore Olympus has, in many regards, always had "bad art". But "bad art" can and should still be enjoyed by those who find joy in it.

And in LO's case, the world it existed in when it launched was a lot smaller than it is now - more specifically, the world of Webtoons. We can look back and see how 'bad' LO looks and reads now because there are genuinely way better comics surrounding it. It was unique and refreshing and experimental back then... now it's just "that stupid blue and pink comic for horny teenagers".

In most cases I would consider that "cringing in hindsight" feeling a good thing because normally it means something has grown and that it seeming "bad" in hindsight would mean that it's outgrown itself and moved onto bigger things. But LO has the more unique problem of "its current stuff is shit and it's making us want the old stuff more, even if the old stuff wasn't good either". In that regard, LO is closer to being like Harry Potter. Remember when The Cursed Child came out at the height of Rowling being exposed for being a TERF and even people who liked Harry Potter didn't like The Cursed Child because it was just objectively worse overall (with or without Rowling's bullshit attached)? It made a lot of people go back and re-read / rewatch Harry Potter with a more objective lens and go "wait a minute guys, I think we only adored these books so much because we were 12 when we read them". Often times it's the good memories we have surrounding certain things that make us have the opinion about them that we do.

Of course, LO is definitely not as politically weaponized as Harry Potter is, so that's where that comparison ends. But my point is that LO is definitely in a situation where it's been riding off the same privileges it had back in 2018 - having an 'experimental' art style while also utilizing tropes and characters that were VERY popular at the time (remember that 2017-18 was when Tumblr was at its height of H x P "Hades was a chill accountant guy who wore socks and sandals and didn't cheat on his wife like Zeus did" fantasizing) - and thinks that those same tricks and tropes will still work today.

Because of this, the art in LO really, really hasn't aged well, even the stuff that we look back on fondly. But I think it's the panels that we specifically think of when remembering "old LO" - the ones that stuck in our memories the most - that are the ones that make us miss or just not care about the panels that don't look good (the panels that make people question why we ever liked it to begin with).

We liked it because of how it made us feel to look at panels like these-

Those genuinely wonderful panels that we think back on the most don't exist separately from the bad panels, they exist in spite of them. Even if we can look back on panels like these and pick out problems in the lineart or the proportions or the color travelling outside of the lines, that can't and shouldn't change how those panels made us feel at some point or another. And that's why when people ask me "why were you even into LO in the first place" I don't have any one answer, because I can't fully explain how something made me feel to justify why it's good to someone who can see from the outside - without rose-colored glasses - that it evidently isn't. It's very much a "you had to be there" type of thing.

Unfortunately, nowadays even the 'best' LO panels in S3 still don't come close to what the S1 panels accomplished - because for many of us, the rose-colored glasses are gone, we can't appreciate the good among the bad because we know now how bad it truly is and so the good just feels like wasted attempts at trying to recreate something it can no longer be. It "came back wrong" so to speak.

LO came back just regular. But our journey to resurrecting it changed us to such a degree that even its closest intimacies are now foreign to us. Sorry dude.

This is still probably one of my favorite panels out of the entirety of S3 for being as close to "old LO" as I've seen since S2, and even it feels like a mistake, an accident, how could a panel like this exist in S3 when so much of it is a dumpster fire? It's like a flower growing in the ruins of an apocalyptic wasteland.

But wasn't that always the case? Isn't that 'always' what LO has been, since the very beginning? A poorly cobbled together mess of writing and panels that, every now and then, manages to leave an impression that makes you feel something? Did we ever truly know LO? Or have we just been relying entirely on an idea of it that we've built up in our heads that when it does do exactly what it's evidently always done (even if not made apparent until looking back on it in hindsight) we think it "came back wrong"?

Fandoms that are so unhinged and cringe that I would never be a part of even though I enjoy the anime/show/game:

1. My Hero Academia

Honestly, what is wrong with these people? Are y’all okay? Do you need help? Therapy? Exorcism? This was a great anime and an even better manga, but the fandom? Dead on arrival. Like, no amount of CPR can bring this back to life because the fandom turned it into a circus of cringe. The fanfics? Absolute war crimes against the English language. The shipping wars? God-tier delusional. Y’all turned Deku into some uwu soft boy who cries over stepping on ants. This fandom could have had it all, but instead, they went off the rails and nuked the whole vibe.

2. House of the Dragon

Let me just say it: y’all can’t tell the difference between fiction and reality. Like, are you okay? Blink twice if you need help. These people have turned liking Team Green or Team Black into a blood feud. They call Green fans RAPISTS. Yeah, you read that right. Someone out there is foaming at the mouth because you thought Alicent Hightower was in the right for .2 seconds. They harass actors like they personally stormed King’s Landing and burned their village. Y’all bullied actors so bad they had to dip off the internet. Meanwhile, the rest of us are just trying to watch dragons burn people. Chill.

3. Twisted Wonderland

Oh, boy. This one’s personal. I’ve been harassed, stalked, and attacked by these clowns in my first ever blog. Why? Because I wrote a straight fic and didn’t make it for a male reader. Yeah, you read that right. Straight fic. Suddenly, I’m Satan. They sent death threats, stalked me, reported my fic—like, go outside and touch some grass. The entitlement is insane. Sorry I didn’t cater to your every whim, my liege. Get a hobby. Oh wait, you do have one: bullying creators for free content. Imagine if they put this energy into, I don’t know, being normal.

4. Genshin Impact

This one’s tricky. On the surface, pretty chill. You like the game, I like the game, we all simp for pixelated characters—it’s cool, right? WRONG. The second you express a straight ship? You’re done. Canceled. Booted out of the fandom. Like, y’all do know this is a Chinese game, right? Where straight relationships are literally baked into the culture? But noooo, apparently every character has to be gay or you’re committing some kind of fandom sin. And don’t even get me started on how they harass artists over anything. “Oh no, their art style doesn’t fit my headcanon, time to ruin their life!” Calm down, Picasso.

5. Honkai Star Rail

Another “chill on the surface” fandom, but scratch a little deeper, and it’s chaos. They will romanticize slavery for their ships. Like, excuse me? What kind of unhinged behavior is this? And don’t even get me started on their logic for calling characters gay. “Oh, she wore purple eyeshadow once, so that means she’s a lesbian. It’s canon now.” HUH? Since when does makeup mean sexual orientation? Y’all are doing the most for the least.

Drew Tanaka headcanons bc I'm going insane over them

She's from Hokkaido in Japan

Her full name is Sayuri Tanaka, Drew is merely the name she chose when moving from Japan to the US bc the Americans couldn't pronounce Sayuri right and it got on her nerves, later it irritated her that she couldn't get her chosen name pronunciation right

She's ainu and bc of it she'd get bullied in school in Japan

Her dad (like Piper's) moved from the more indigenous area to a more urban but still made sure Drew knew and appreciated her heritage

He made knives and blades in general, once he made a katana and she was so obsessed with it

Moved to the US for financial reasons rather than demigod reasons

She got on a fancy private school with athlete scholarship for having two gold medals in kendo

Spoke a very poor English and that made it hard for her to make friends besides one boy in her class who God knows why spoke japanese: Connor Stoll, and consequentially his brother, Travis

Aroace spectrum, probably a lesboromantic

Her satyr took her and the siblings Stoll to the camp when she was 11

When she arrived the camp she was reluctant to befriend anyone, specially because, since she had just immigrated, she was afraid people would find her weird

She was the kind of child of Aphrodite who might look like a kid of a god of beauty but has the personality of a child of a god of war: Aphrodite Areia. She'd come after anyone who messed with her and has a really bad temper, sometimes even compared to Clarisse

After Silena's betrayed she was deeply hurt since she admired Silena so much, that's why she was so bitter to everyone after the war

Despite being hurt from her sister's betrayal she still tried to be a good conselour and sister, making sure the younger campers, specially Lacy, were okay and trying to lighten the grief

Drew was never on a good financial position, mainly because her father's job didn't have much clientele, so she started working at fast food restaurants when she was a teenager

Despite being poor, she always tried to look good, it was her way of coping from all the bad stuff she went through. Because of it she learned how to sew.

She disliked Piper not because she reminded her of Silena but because, at first sight, Piper reminded her of herself, but without most shit she had to go through. Piper was also indigenous, at a fist look she seemed poor, she was a demigodess etc. But she didn't go to the war, she hadn't had her friends die all at once, she didn't meet Silena.

After Drew found out who was Piper's father she only got more pissed; that girl, who had everything she always wanted, who never had to sleep wondering if on the next day she would still have a house to live in, who never had to worry how her father would be without her on his side to SPEAK for him because he didn't know English. Yet she romanticized all that Drew hated in her own life.

After Mitchell cleared up what was going on between the two to the other, Piper and Drew started getting along, but Drew never really got over Piper's style choice, not because it wasn't pretty but because that looked close to what she wore when she was on her worst financially when Piper could afford any kind of luxury brand

The replacement on tap for me was a captain named Leafy Hill. That is really not his name because I have resolved never to reveal the true names of officers and enlisted men whom I did not admire. War does bad things even to good people. Many of the misfits, the incompetent, the exploitive, and the cowardly whom I met at Thorpe Abbotts have gone on to put together good lives, have had good jobs and good families. I choose not to reopen old wounds.

Leafy thought he was the Group Navigator from the day he walked onto the base. He immediately scheduled himself as the command navigator on the next mission. I hit the sky and stormed into Jeff's office.

I checked Leafy's log. His ETA's and routes were a tangle of misinformation. He claimed to have seen fighters and flak not reported by any other navigators.

I read the lead crew pilot's official report: "A five-hour trip. Major Rosenthal was command pilot and Captain Hill went along as second navigator. The mission was good as far as the leading went, but Captain Hill screwed up our bomb run. Our navigator gave me a 68-degree heading from the Initial Point to the target which would have been swell, but Leafy said the target was at one o'clock and the bombardier swung over as he ordered. Then he saw the target back at ten o'clock. By the time he got his course correction killed his rate was over and we messed up the run. So that's what one man can do to mess up the works."

In no time every navigator at Thorpe Abbotts was sure that Captain Leafy Hill was nuts.

But I could go home if he became the Group Navigator.

I did not have to solve the problem myself.

I was long overdue for a pass, and I decided that a London trip to see Landra Wingate might clear my head.

When I returned to the base, I heard quite a story.

One of the really great command navigators, Stewart Gillison, decided after he finished his tour that he wanted to stay in England. I welcomed him into Group Headquarters as my chief assistant. I could trust him with briefings.

Stew was not your normal guy. Under the circumstances of war, none of us were exactly level on course, but Stew was really something. At night, when he went to bed, instead of turning out the light, he shot it out with his 45 revolver. The ceiling of his room looked like a sieve, and the batman had to put in a new bulb every day.

When I got back from London, Leafy Hill was gone.

Stew had assigned Leafy Hill to fly as fill-in navigator with a crew Stew himself had flown with before he became lead. The crew flew out on the mission and came back.

Except that Leafy Hill was not with them.

When I asked Stew Gillison what happened to Leafy Hill, he said with deference unusual for him, "Major Crosby, I suggest that you don't ask."

I did ask. The pilot wouldn't tell me. The bombardier wouldn't tell me. But the copilot did.

Stew, their former navigator, instructed the crew what to do.

After the target when the group was at the R.P, a gunner called out, "We've been hit!"

That part of it was true, but that was standard. To some degree, we were almost always hit by flak over the target. Sometimes it hit the crew, and we died or we got Purple Hearts, but usually the flak only jarred the plane.

"We really weren't hit at all. The pilot only waggled the wings." The copilot continued the story.

This is what he said happened.

"Okay, pilot to crew, prepare to bail out. See you in Stalag."

"Roger, pilot." This was a chorus from the entire crew.

The pilot rang the alarm bell.

Whoosh! Out went, not all ten of the crew, but just Leafy Hill. He wasn't in on the joke.

When I heard the story I thought it was funny.

Leafy spent the rest of the Air War in Europe in a prison camp, wondering what happened to the rest of the crew.

And I spent the rest of the Air War in Europe as Group Navigator of the Bloody 100th.”

Back with more Liam ranting because I’m going insane.

I find many things about his character interesting, but one of the most interesting things about him to me is definitely how his character relates to romance.

Like, think about it. Jake has a crush on Daisy(+Hailey?), Hailey is pretty obviously being set up to end up with Jake, Sean has a crush on Daisy (most likely), Daisy possibly reciprocates those feelings, Zander and Luke are dating, Milly has a crush on Elliot, Drew and Zoey used to be dating, Lia has her long-term crush on Jake, even Henry has a long-term, very obvious crush on Lia.

My point is, there are very few characters in this series who don’t have some sort of romantic ties to another character. In fact, the only characters other than Liam who don’t have some sort of love interest are probably Sadie and Maria, which makes sense since they don’t get much screen time (Maria more so than Sadie).

And to me that makes the romance aspect of his character a lot more interesting, especially since his attraction to women is an almost comedically large part of his character.

You’d think someone who’s main gimmick is romance-related would have more of a role in the shipping stuff, whether it be showing romantic interest in any character or being a matchmaker or something, but no. Liam shows no interest in any girl at their school other than maybe one time where it’s mentioned he tried to ask an offscreen unnamed character out, and he actually seems pretty clueless when it comes to things like why Jake is even going through everything he does for Daisy, the show itself even pointing out how he doesn’t understand traditional romanticism. He’s not even the one who realizes Jake might have a thing for Hailey, either. If I remember correctly, it’s Drew who realizes first while Liam just sorta stands and listens.

And honestly, when almost every character has a long-term crush or love drama, having a character who just doesn’t get any of that and thinks they should just cut to the chase and confess or whatever is really funny. It does, however, make Liam a bit of an outlier and makes talk of his sexuality pretty interesting to me, especially since the lack of canon content leaves more room for interpretation.

Like I said earlier, Liam’s romantic interest in women is such a large part of his character that it almost feels performative. And I’ve seen that lead to a lot of people headcanoning him as gay or aromantic. And I think that’s cool!

As an aromantic person myself, I’m probably a little biased as to which one I think about more (even if I do love some of the Liam ships). But him mostly focusing on people he has no realistic shot at being in a relationship with (Stacy’s Mom, that girl he sent the donation message to) does remind me of aromantic experiences.

And I don’t know, I imagine that he’s the kind of person to get a new ‘crush’ every week, ask them out, and when if they say no, he’s a little sad for less than 24 hours then moves on, almost like he never felt anything at all. Which is why he’s so confused over why Jake would go through all this trouble for Daisy when he could just ask her out right then and there.

I guess I think it’d be something like him wanting the emotional closeness of being in a relationship with someone, who he assumes should be a girl, and so he pursues that without realizing what romantic feelings he’s ‘supposed’ to feel in relation to that. He doesn’t understand why people act the way they do when they have a crush because he just doesn’t feel that way when he thinks he likes someone (If we go with the aromantic reading).

As for the him liking guys headcanon, I’m probably not as confident as to what that would look like. But I presume it’d be something like him trying to do what he thinks he’s supposed to do as well, and never realizing that when people say they like a girl it’s different from how he feels, which is just “they seem pretty and nice and relatively pleasant to be around” while feeling no actual attraction. (Maybe idk I’ve never had that experience)

To get back on topic, I guess I just like how out of the ordinary he feels compared to everyone else. In a universe where every other character seems to show their romantic feelings in a similar way, (has long-term crush and feelings for a long time before they finally dramatically confess), Liam does not do that, and that’s pretty cool.

This is probably one of dozens of break up related asks but how do you move on from an amicable break up? I feel like it's easy to hate someone that did you wrong but much harder to move on from something good. We really cared about each other (we communicated problems, actively try to solve them, etc) but ultimately we have conflicting futures and it's not possible to have one together. I don't want to get rid of everything he gave me nor do I really want to separate. I still have the urge to hug him and hold his hand and call him pet names it's driving me insane :c

Amicable breakups are a special kind of uncomfortable. When so many suggestions for breakups are based on the assumption that you were terribly wronged and hate your ex-partner, it's frustrating to know how to deal with an amicable breakup.

My first suggestion is to examine deeply and honestly why you broke up. I have had multiple amicable breakups, and I felt the same way. They didn't do anything! It was all so good! However, we broke up. So was it all so good? Why did you break up? Is this temporary grief over the end worse than the ongoing mediocrity of a relationship that's loving but not working out? What do you feel has improved because of the breakup? Many answers to these questions will come over months, even years. It is still wise to examine them because it is so easy to romanticize the perfect thing you had even when it really wasn't. Sometimes two great people are inherently incompatible as romantic partners.

Second, it's okay if it was a lovely thing that simply didn't work out. Sometimes the reason is only that there wasn't a spark anymore, the timing was wrong, etc. The answer to this is the same, which is that even if it is not a reason that feels validating the breakup was necessary. A breakup doesn't mean the relationship was bad, just that it wasn't meant to continue in this form. It takes time to settle into this, but it does happen.

The first month or so is the hardest for these things. You still have the instincts for dating, as you mentioned. These do fade, but when they happen do not punish the urge. It's okay to feel that it's uncomfortable, it's also okay to smile over the beauty of the past. In a deeply amicable breakup, it is fully possible to shift into the role of friends. I do suggest giving each other some time without each other to gain stability on your own. However, after even a few months some people can reconnect with clearer outlooks and feel prepared to be friends. I am friends with my most recent ex, and I still text with her intermittently. It was awkward for some time, and also that feeling has faded into comfortable familiarity. You do not have to get rid of everything he gave you. I think it can be healthy to keep items from past relationships as long as you are honest with yourself about why. I still have some things from past relationships. The treasured memories do not disappear just because you are no longer dating. If you find yourself clinging to the memory of dating them via the items, it may be time to let them go. Additionally, be honest with any future partners about these items. A casual "oh yeah that painting was actually a gift from an ex" can be totally okay. Some items such as intimate ones may not be okay to keep, which is up to your discretion.

My common but important advice for any breakup is to focus on yourself. To release someone else from a role they held in your heart for a long time, we need to look and work within. Establish your life, hobbies, mindset, and outlook on your own. When you have a stable and powerful individual identity, it is so much easier to work through feelings over relationships. Don't be afraid to do the things you feel "belong" to your past relationship and remake them as your own. Engage deeply with yourself as you would with a partner, and dive into self-enjoyment.

Most of all, take tender care and allow yourself some heartache. It is okay for it to hurt. I cried and cried after my last break up and I needed it. You don't have to pretend it doesn't hurt. As you move on, focus on letting things flow by. You will be okay, see something that makes you think of them, and get a little heartache. Let it happen and pass until it no longer comes. Draw or write your feelings out, make a playlist for being bummed out (the trick is to make a second playlist for being happy!), and let yourself explore the feelings. Breakups feel like the end of the world but they are only the end of one phase out of millions of our lives. You will be okay, and you are so loved!

you know, everytime I'm like "yeah we're over the cheating themes of this album" i really get reminded that the release of lover and folklore were like not even a year apart and she was fully cheating by then and it really just makes me so.... sad

like sure "parasocial" is one way to describe my reaction but i genuinely think it's more.... the realization that people are just shittier than you ever expect them to be.... i genuinely truly cannot get over how fucking wild it is to write songs about your desire to cheat on your boyfriend WITH YOUR BOYFRIEND. it's so weird. it's so weird to me.

i think it's just... the kind of plotline or narrative you see in movies that throws me off everytime i remember it... like, if you're thinking about the art of it all, it sure is artistic... but is it empathetic, is it kind, is it the right thing to do? just because you can romanticize something, does that mean you should?

and i think the thing that stops me from fully moving on from this narrative is that... she had so many opportunities to not do the things she ended up doing... she clearly knew she was behaving in shitty ways and she just.... stayed with joe instead of leaving... she tried to force him to play the role she wanted him to play and got more and more.... "artistic" in her methods to get him to play ball.... and the resulting crash out is nobody's fault but her own but listening to ttpd.... you do NOT get that impression frankly at all.

Watched Your Monster. Disappointed. Vaguish spoilers below:

So, imagine if someone saw Drop Dead Fred and was like, okay I see the psychosexual subtext but what this needs is to have that subtext be text but also to not make sense, a weirdly placed sex scene with the manifestation of her own mind, and instead of our protagonist healing and reconciling the destructive part of her personality back into a cohesive whole at the end, for her to just go apeshit.

That's this movie.

Except the chemistry was much better in Drop Dead Fred, the characters were way more engaging, and the movie implies he's some kind of independently real magical being and not just in her head, which is objectively superior on a romanticism front and makes shipping it infinitely less weird. DDF also says it's okay to be wild sometimes, but we can express our imaginations while refusing to let people walk over us AND be functional human beings. This movie, on the other hand, is just grim. What's the message? Be a doormat to assholes because if you embrace your emotions and stand up for yourself you will go fully insane and end up alone with your delusions in prison for murder.

In DDF she confronts the people who stifled her and abused her, she learns that how they treat her isn't okay, she learns to express that anger and hurt, but she's healed and empowered by it. Learning to love herself and let go is positive and productive in her life. In Your Monster, it is very much not that. Embracing her monster destroys what was left of her life. And again, the monster is not real. He is her. I'm always, without fail, on Team Magic in any story where it could potentially be considered an open question, but I don't think it can here. It's unambiguous that he is solely a metaphor and not an actual magical creature who exists. This movie does not risk you not getting that metaphor, it spells it out in painfully on the nose dialogue.

The love story is just... bizarre. Because he's a metaphor. She has a sex scene with a metaphor for her repressed anger. This is weird in the bad way. This doesn't cohere as a narrative either as romance, as comedy, as horror, as social commentary, as a character study, as anything. It's a mess. There's some shoddy directorial work, too, but I think I read it's the director's first feature film and was low budget so I'm not going to harp on that.

I liked watching some of it. Some cute stuff. I'm literally always on board for characters performing Shakespeare to each other. Main actress was great. I liked the 'twist' (using the term generously) that Jackie is genuinely a good person, not that her kindness ends up helping anyone. It's just... this is part of a sad trend of movies selling themselves as Women's Fiction with Gothic sensibilities turning out to be toothless and meh. This is definitely better than Lisa Frankenstein, however. So it's got that going for it.

Movie!Adrien HC: Writer as a career

I've been going back and forth in trying to think on what kind of career Adrien would want, especially that would nurture his Destruction. Recently, I've also added football striker and writer to the list of possibilities and while I'd want to see him be a part of the football team, I think a writer and linguist would suit him quite well

The first time we saw Adrien in the movie, he was in the library. I've always thought that he's a bibliophile in the movie because of that. Which is why I went 'huh, there's a thought' yknow?

Anyways, he'd be a versatile writer, writing whatever he wants in whatever form he wants it to be. Whether its short stories, entries, poems, lyrics, scripts or even full length novels, he writes them.

His words are rich and empathic. His style tears down prejudices and tropes. It always makes people think and forces them out of their comfort zones. He especially enjoys writing about themes that destroy presumptions and prejudices. It changes how people think, and he's not shy to confront harmful issues in his writings

Adrien's got zero tolerance for bullshit and refuses to write things that cater to the masses' harmful whims. In fact, he takes unholy glee in destroying themes and tropes that would romanticize or normalised harmful beliefs and actions even if it caused a number of outcries or controversies

(Not a lot of people knows this, but Adrien has a sadistic streak when it comes to destroying bigoted readers or critics. Or just bullshit in general)

When Nino achieved his dream in being a movie director, Adrien tends to be his first choice as the main scriptwriter. Now you can imagine the chaos these 2 best friends unleashes whenever a new movie comes out. While Nino would puff out his chest, proud for another job well done, Adrien would always have the biggest shit-eating Cheshire grin

As he grows as a writer, it becomes apparent that while its normal for writers to world build, Adrien does the exact opposite. He destroys worlds and structures, reshaping it into however he wants it. His writing style especially when it comes his novels is similar to Alice in Wonderland.

A nonsensical writing style to be more specific

For the most part, his books are written in simple language that most readers can understand. Most sentences are relatively short and straightforward. However, despite the use of simple syntax and short sentences, the style of his books is cheeky, charming and full of mischief. Plays on words, puns (so much PUNS), homophone confusion, and metaphors has since become Adrien's signature style.

The chapters for any of his books are all over the place and yet, there's always a level of intuitive logic to his insanity. Readers can randomly open any chapter within his books and would always be surprised on how they can still follow the story despite Adrien destroying worlds and any semblance of structure within it

His loved ones, especially Marinette, always end up getting immersed in Adrien's destructive, nonsensical writing which Adrien never passes up to tease her about

That's not to say that's the only way he writes. His works are always charming and heartfelt, earnest with every written word.

Adrien writes letters to his parents, burns them for Emelie in hopes that she'd received them. He collaborates writing scripts with Nino for his movies and becomes a trusted editor for Alya whenever they fact check an article together

and of course, he writes the sweetest, dorkiest things for Marinette. from sticky notes full of puns and compliments to romantic poems and lyrics (see 'My Lady' and 'Stronger Together'), you name it, he's done it for his beloved

So yeah, I think being a writer is something Adrien would really enjoy

Duvet is like a warm vanilla-sugar Bath & Body Works™ hug from my childhood. It's nostalgic, hopeful, and gives you that warm, fuzzy feeling inside. I remember when this song blew up again (it dropped back in ‘98, but made its TikTok return in ‘21, and again in ‘23), and we all started manifesting that 2024 would feel like this song. The whole trend of romanticizing your life and embracing being just a little bit delusional? Honestly, it's a great reframing practice. It helps us appreciate the life we have and the small, beautiful moments.

Rise is straight-up about activism—“rising up” against everything wrong in the world. Raveena has been outspoken about Free Palestine, queer, and abortion rights at her shows and on social media. She’s an actual earth angel. I was lucky enough to meet her at a guided meditation she hosted before her performance at Showbox Sodo. The experience was so calming and grounding, and it gave me a deeper appreciation for her as both an artist and a person. After the show, she went straight to the merch table to meet and greet her fans. I can't stress enough how genuine she is in her fan service—she truly loves and appreciates the people who support her. That’s rare in this industry. I’m telling you, unless she decides to go live in an eco-conscious community somewhere (which would also suit her vibe, tbh), Raveena is on track to become the next Stevie Nicks. I know, I know, we shouldn't pit women against each other, but hear me out—every generation needs that iconic, barefoot goddess twirling on stage, backed by insane talent. And Raveena? She’s the one. The way she blends spirituality, activism, femininity, queerness, Indian roots, neo-soul, and early-2000s R&B is pure genius. I can't wait to see what projects she shares with us in 2025.

Make Friends by Hiatus Kaiyote. So, here’s the thing: I’ve been slowly diving into more Hiatus Kaiyote over the past year and a half. It started with Slip Into Something Soft and Nakamarra, then evolved into Everything Is Beautiful (and for the Adventure Time fans, don’t miss their track BMO is Beautiful featuring THE Niki Yang iykyk). But when I first listened, I had no idea what the band looked like. So you can imagine my surprise when I Googled them and saw a group of white Aussie musicians making the kind of soulful, funky, jazzy music I associate with Black artists in the R&B, soul, and jazz traditions. It’s fascinating because their sound is so rooted in those genres, but they’re coming from a completely different cultural background. It got me thinking about how genres like R&B and jazz have always transcended boundaries, and how it’s cool to see artists from around the world drawing from these rich, Black musical traditions. Reddit confirmed I wasn’t the only one taken aback by the band's Aussie roots, but honestly, I can’t deny that they make it work. Make Friends is a straight-up bop, and it’s all about that real connection—when you find your people, you just vibe. Anyway, moving on!

Weird by KAYTRANADA & Durand Bernarr. This one hit me hard in 2024. Sometimes I’m the one judging the "weird" person in the room, but other times I am that weird person. As a socially awkward 20-something with a bit of Capricorn energy, I don’t always mesh with certain social settings—and sometimes, I’m just being a little bit of a bitch. This whole album is a banger, but this song? It clicked with me in a way I didn’t expect. The ‘Timeless’ album was a frequent pick for my hot girl walks in 2024.

It Ain’t Over ‘Til It’s Over—and this post ain’t over yet! 2024 was the year Lenny Kravitz blessed us with his tour, new music, and—perhaps most memorably—that video of him bench-pressing in leather pants and a mesh shirt at the gym. 2024 was a year of embracing the awkward, the beautiful, and everything in between. Music was my guide through it all—helping me find moments of peace while also pushing me to confront the parts of myself I’d once kept hidden. From standing up for what truly matters to connecting with those who see and feel the same way, this year was about evolving, unlearning, and stepping into my truth without hesitation. Oh I'm so here for Taylor calling out her audience. Even while on the actual stage. a lot of people paid a lot of money to go to multiple times. Between the always needing content (both old and new fans) and projecting their own wants onto her even after she multiple times indicated she's not like that and that's not a priority, even if it does happen soon and taking out their own personal frustrations onto her exes instead of writing a poem a week. same i find it sooo interesting. I think it also ties into her sort of gold cage motif of the fact that shes been building and cultivating this audience since she was 13 but the problem is she isnt 13 anymore. That level of emotional connection and investment just isnt possible on a safety and numbers level, like we are never getting back secret sessions (which were insane and probably shouldnt have existed in the first place) or taylor having a public easy access two way interaction social media account (jesus could you imagine) but she built the fanbase on the early days of social media as a child. She was doing canny marketing of course but she also has admitted to being a lonely kid and kind of treated swifties as a friend group in itself. She would keep up with us through social media and invite us over her house to check out her new music and send us christmas presents and comment on our instagrams and for all the cynical calculations involved there was a real earnestness and vulnerability naturally involved in that that leads to a SUPER complicated and unique fan experience and relationship compared to other stars of her caliber. Swifties are famously strange and intense but one thing that people outside of that circle dont totally understand is that it feeds off of taylors extremely strange and intense energies. I remember when ttpd and specifically bdilh dropped and the backlash came with it, there was a few posts talking about how taylor would communicate and treat fans back in the red era, spending hours and hours after shows to meet hundreds of fans, staying in close contact with us and constantly communicating and almost obsessively showing her love and how that taylor would hate current taylor and i remember reading that and thinking, that 23 year old taylor is the reason we have 34 year old taylor having a complete meltdown as fan and public pressure reached its true boiling point with her dating a shitty guy in her friend group who she had a nothing situationship with 10 years earlier that she rewrote and romanticized in her head to cope with her dissolving ltr and as soon as she even considered launching him everyone had dug up every possible piece of dirt that was previously ignored and demanded she break up with him on the spot.

I really don't hold much anger towards fans who understandably hated and felt betrayed by taylor dating such an obviously shitty person with a past of racist edgelord "jokes" and a fetish for getting people mad at him, but i also cant imagine being taylor swift and trying to go through my "we're in love and its meant to be" rebound that is usually only known and embarrassing to a small group of friends and having it projected to the entire world while im fully having a massive mental breakdown while on the most important tour of my career and the culmination of my entire body of work up to that point and i have already had years of a famously volatile and intense fandom as well as only being a few years out of my controlling contract etc etc etc i would also date a guy specifically to piss off the people important to me and write a song about how we're soooo in love just to spite everyone. also "im having his baby...no im not but you should see your faces!" is one of the funniest things shes ever said. I am a little drunk so i am not sure how comprehensible that is but i agree id be THRILLED if she brought that complicated friction of ttpd to ts12 i love hearing her sing about it! It is unfailingly interesting when taylor sings about Us, its what a lot of my favorite songs of hers are about.
