Smoked Salmon Pinwheels
340 g (about 12 pcs) sliced Canadian smoked salmon
1 cup (250 g) store-bought herbed cream cheese (see Chef’s Tips)
4 large (10-inch) tortilla wraps (plain, whole wheat, spinach, or tomato)
½ cup (60 g) red onion, thinly sliced
4 cups (68 g) baby spinach, washed and dried
Salt and pepper, to taste
♡ Place about ¼ of the cream cheese onto each tortilla and spread evenly.
♡ Arrange a quarter of the thinly sliced red onion over each tortilla.
♡ Evenly spread 1 cup of the baby spinach over the red onions.
♡ Lightly season the spinach with salt and pepper.
♡ Divide the sliced smoked salmon equally among the tortillas, and evenly cover the spinach with the smoked fish.
♡ Tightly roll up each tortilla and wrap tightly in plastic wrap. Place into the fridge to allow the rolls to firm up; at least 1 hour.
♡ Using a sharp serrated knife, slice rolls into ¾- to 1-inch pinwheels. Arrange cut side up on a serving platter, or insert a toothpick through one side of the pinwheel and stand them up on a platter.

Canada Road: Snow
Jan 24
Between Goderich and Kincardine,
Lake Huron
Great Lakes
Ontario
In summer there was swimming in the shiny water, using the kayak so you can watch the shore from the water. From a kayak or even swimming in the lake looking back you can see that the land is all trees, not used to seeing trees next to water, cliffs maybe but not this land of blue water and green land of trees.
I am struck by the greenness and the trees. It’s newer and fresher and not so cultivated and there is so much more nature.
It is very green and leafy, trees everywhere you look, driftwood gets washed up and next door there are driftwood sculptures on the beachfront.
Looking back on summer, knowing now that the green is now swathed in snow.
We have snow today.

“ELOPING PAIR'S DREAM WRECKED BY LOCAL POLICE,” Owen Sound Sun Times. March 13, 1933. Page 1. ---- Kincardine Man Stole Funds Necessary to Get Married ---- Love's young sweet dream was rudely interrupted by the intervention of a blue-coated policeman and today Ivan Holloway, 21, and Julia Hunter, 20, both of Kincardine, are wondering whether or not they were wise in trying to elope in these times of depression.
It was on Friday that Holloway was alleged to have stolen the sum of $50 from his mother in Kincardine and eloped with Miss Hunter to Owen Sound. They were driven to this city by motor and were on their way to the parsonage when the law, in the form of Chief Carson, appeared on the scene. It is not the business of the law to stop the love-lorn, but when money. alleged to have been stolen, is involved. It is too bad.
At any rate the law had been informed of the matter and Holloway was arrested and placed in the lock- up. The girl returned to Kincardine on Saturday, her dreams shattered. The boy, disillusioned, returned Monday in the custody of Chief of Police Smith of Kincardine, to be faced with a charge of theft.

The Clackmannanshire Bridge opened to traffic on Wednesday 19 November 2008.
Prior to 1 October 2008 the bridge was referred to as the upper Forth crossing while the name was chosen.
The increasing levels of traffic using the existing Kincardine Bridge led to a public inquiry being held into options to ease traffic flow over the Forth and around the small town of Kincardine. In 2000 proposals were put forward for a number of alternatives, one of which was a new crossing running north-northwest of the existing bridge, bypassing the town of Kincardine altogether.
In 2005 the new crossing was given the go-ahead, and construction began in June 2006, with the sod-cutting ceremony performed by then Scottish Transport Minister, Tavish Scott, accompanied by the Earl of Elgin who as a boy had performed the ceremony for the Kincardine Bridge.
The bridge was officially opened by Scotland's First Minister Alex Salmond on 28th November 2008. At the ceremony, Salmond said: "This is a world-class infrastructure project which will cut journey times, improve central Scotland connections, and provide a unique gateway to Clackmannanshire, Fife and Falkirk"

Drone Videos, Deep Purple and the wonders of the beach [VIDEOS]
This could be the last weekend for good drone flying weather at the lake. Here’s what I made, and some great tunes for you to enjoy. First up we have a Thursday night flight to the tune of “The Roller” by Liam Gallagher’s Beady Eye. Then we have two Deep Purple instrumentals on an unedited Friday morning flight: “Son of Aleric” and “Contact Lost”. Notably, the water levels are noticeable lower…

Sunset 30 minutes ago
We ate and swam today. I t was a cold night and we awoke thinking we needed sweaters, but the cloud cover disappeared and it was sunny. So, we visited the Zehrs, the Dollar store, and the Walmart to do our shopping and there was acres and acres of stuff. I cannot believe the size of the shop and even the size of the vegetables, big. And so many of my old favourites like Bran Muffins, Corn Bread and Blueberry pancakes with maple syrup.
Then we had visitors who had driven three hours to see us. Old friends and relatives from fifty years ago. So, we swam in the shiny water, used the kayak and watched the shore from the water.
It is very green and leafy, trees everywhere you look and driftwood gets washed up and next door there are driftwood sculptures on the beachfront. Then we sat under an awning on the beach and some people collected rocks.
Dinner was cooked on skewers on the Bar B Q by new friend and children swung in the hammock, bright coloured hanging from the two nearby trees.
They had to leave early to drive three hours back again and we got to watch the sunset which was slow and took many stages partly behind clouds and then appearing from behind grey clouds to turn the water silver for a moment before finally disappearing behind the lowest band of grey cloud and night quietly falls.
