Oh wow! My previous lil video post blew up! (Well, for one of my posts at least). And I saw a few people saying they like the name Citrus for one of my lil Mer dudes in Guppy Love.
So tada! Not a merboy, obviously, but the fish I based his scale coloration on: the Mandarin Dragonet.
I have to give credit to @meetthetank , @dragonfuckerllc and @kilouekas-photos for helping me find these lil dudes. I was looking for a tropical fish with ultramarine blue in them, and they certainly delivered!
Aren’t they so pretty??? >^<
Aaaaand have to thank my roommate for the name. It’a way better than my stand in name “Steffan” after Steffan Argus (I like his songs Ship in a Bottle and Abandon Ship) Not that it’s a bad name, but I like Citrus more. Plus it’s right there in the species: Mandarin Dragonet.

Flower ask: Do the ones that start with B,U,T(T),S
Baby’s breath: Do you like kids? If so, do you want to have any?
i’m okay with kids tbh- like, i’m not the biggest kid person, but i’ve told i’m okay with them and i don’t mind them. i wouldn’t want to be a mom myself, though, for a lot of reasons
Sunflower: Is there somebody you look up to? Who are they?
i look up to most people, i’m p short
Sakura blossom: If you had one week left to live, what would you do?
probably a whistle-stop tour to go see all the people that are really important to me, which would give me enough travel time to make things for them because i’m extra as shit
Tulip: Tell us about something precious to you. What value does it hold? Could we see a picture of it?
i mean, i have a lot of things that are important to me, i’m big on, like, items that i have and can touch, but here’s one with a story
my dad was a reporter, and he went all around newfoundland on the regular. one time before i was born, he ended up in a little fishing village right before a big storm suddenly hit so he had to stop driving- and we’re talking real little. i think it had one store in it? he had packed a tuna sandwich and a bag of chips to eat, and had hunkered down in his car outside the one store to eat it, when he noticed someone driving up, getting out of their own car, and going up to the store, which was closed. he opened the window and yelled out at the guy, who just told him that he was looking for some food but he’d have to keep driving. dad invited him to hang out in his car, share his sandwich and chips, and chat while listening to the radio.
they rode out the storm just chatting and joking and eating dad’s sandwich and chilling. when the weather cleared, the guy tried to give dad some cash for the sandwich, but he refused because, like, whatever, the sandwich was only worth a buck or so. so the guy told dad to wait while he got something from his car, and he came back with this little carved whale. he had carved it out of haddock bone, and he insisted dad take it. dad accepted it, and he ended up never seeing the guy again.
25 years later, dad was moving out of his big old house, and he was giving away knickknacks. this was a story i had remembered him telling a bunch of times, so i asked for the haddock bone whale. it’s a neat little thing, with a neat little story. it makes me think of home, and family, and my dad in particular, who is always willing to share anything he has and taught me the same. it’s a cool thing, and it’s a reminder of an important lesson to remember. here’s a photo of one of my Cool Things shelves, where it hangs out right in the middle

redbubble com/people/Kiloueka/shop
Hello everyone! I’m Mod Hermy, creator and main mod/uploader on pride-flags deviantart. I’ve been working on this blog on and off for years now and it’s by far the largest archive of HQ flags out there. I also have free flag templates, symbols, and other resources to help anyone make their own HQ flags, all for free.
I’m a disabled, unemployed, queer artist and while the archive and its resources will always be free and open to everyone, I would greatly appreciate if y’all would help me out by boosting this post and possibly throwing some donation money my way if possible! I would love to be able to at least partially support myself with this so I can continue working several hours a day on it. This blog is a lot of work and it’s hard to keep up with finding, enhancing, and uploading flags as well as making/collecting resources takes a lot of time.
You’ll find the above designs and much more in the shop and requests are open if you would like a flag not already added there!
I also have a P*treon, k*-fi, and Buy Me a Coffee

Seeing a lot of misinformation flying around regarding lesbian flags this year, particularly the pink one, so here’s my attempt to set the record straight!
FAQ/Common Misconceptions and Sources are listed below the cut - if anything in this post contradicts what you’ve heard, I’d encourage you to read through them before responding.
Please DO NOT promote flag redesigns on this post :)
-----------------------------------------------------------------
UPDATE 2 (2021):
First of all, a long-overdue note that @moral-autism kindly transcribed the bulk of this infographic here, for anyone looking for a text-only version!
Secondly, I have been contacted by @kiloueka, who created/uploaded the high resolution “Pink Flag” to the Pride-Flags DeviantArt account in 2015. They clarified that they did not independently leave out the lipstick mark to create a general lesbian flag, but had previously seen a kiss-less version in a tumblr post (likely one of the ones linked in the update below).
UPDATE: New Information
@deadicateddeath brought my attention to the existence of this pride flag compilation post on Tumblr, published 8 December 2013. This is now, to my knowledge, the earliest record of the pink stripes featured without the kiss mark. The same blog made another post (10 January 2014) which featured the pink flag and claimed that it was seeing use at the time.
I am extremely interested to know if there is any evidence of pre-2015 use of the pink flag outside of this blog, as I was unable to find any during my research.
Additionally, some people feel I have downplayed the extent of the labrys’s usage. As above, I included a note to acknowledge the prevalence of the symbols used in the labrys flag (separately and in combination), but this post is specifically focussed on flag designs, and I can’t find any indication of a labrys flag itself (whether Sean Campbell’s design, or a separate design) seeing much use pre-2015.
I would be extremely interested to see any evidence of this flag being used pre-2012, something which I did hunt for but could not find.
If you have any sources regarding either of these issues, please send them my way! I am 100% open to correction and clarification, provided it can be factually backed up.
-----------------------------------------------------------------
FAQ/Common Misconceptions & Source Requests
So... what flag should we use?
My primary motivation in making this was to clear up misinformation, not to tell anyone what flag to use. Use your own judgement, even make your own if you want, just don’t get stressed out if your flag isn’t “the” flag and remember that flag colours are not the only avenue through which to show pride!
The lipstick lesbian flag is an edited version of the pink flag, which is the original.
There is no evidence to support this. The lipstick lesbian flag had been documented online for years prior to the pink flag, as explained above.
The lipstick mark was removed to make the flag more inclusive.
There’s no proof of this - as explained above, the first instance of the mark being “removed” (i.e. not included) was due to it being too complex to easily convert into a high resolution image.
The pink flag is, and has always been, “the” lesbian flag.
The pink flag has only been in semi-common usage since 2016, and its use is still mostly confined to younger online communities.
The rainbow flag is the gay (man) flag.
The rainbow flag [32] was created by Gilbert Baker in 1978 to represent the LGBT community as a whole (I used his original 8-stripe design in the final panel). It does not belong exclusively to gay men, and it does represent lesbians. Please stop framing it like this:
Tumblr media
when it’s actually like this:
Tumblr media
This doesn’t mean we can’t have a specific flag for the lesbian community, but it’s not the case that we need to scramble the fill the gap left by a “missing” flag. Stop reading malice into my words... lmao.
The creator of the the lipstick lesbian flag/the labrys flag is a TERF.
I can’t find any information on Sean Campbell that would suggest this, and while a cursory browse through Natalie McCray’s social media did turn up some casual cissexism, nothing indicates she was a TERF. If you have sources that show otherwise, please send them my way!
What is a “Lipstick Lesbian”?
A feminine lesbian, and by many definitions, one who only dates other feminine lesbians. Natalie McCray’s edits to the Lipstick Lesbian Wikipedia page under the name “Nmdesigns” [7] show that she subscribed to the femme4femme definition.
Why don’t you want people to promote flag redesigns on this post?
This post was created to dispell misinformation and explore the online trails of lesbian flags prior to 2017. I don’t want to tell other people what flag to use, nor do I want others to use this post as a platform to tell other people what flag to use, because that’s not the purpose of this post.
I’m not a lesbian, can I reblog this?
I don’t mind who shares this, but if you want to add commentary as someone ouside the lesbian community, please think carefully on whether or not it is relevant or appropriate.
Can I repost this on Twitter/Facebook/etc?
I don’t mind, but I’d strongly recommend including a link back to this post in order to preserve the sources.
Actually, there is an official/agreed upon flag! It’s ______.

[Image: The circle MOGAI flag with the text: Calling all flag makers!]
So! I’ve figured out how to automate making simpler flags! Which means I managed to crank out ~2100 flags in one day. They’re all up in the Mega,nz folder in my pinned post/FAQ!
Now I’m almost out of simple flags to fix up so I’m working on collecting as many flags as I can for the DA archive.
So I’m asking all flag makers (or flag collectors) to gather up all the flags they’ve made/found and send them to me in a folder so I can focus my time more on uploading stuff to the archive and working on more complex flags.
I’d prefer if you would link me on Deviantart because that’s more reliable than tumblr or ping me on the LGBTA wiki discord if you’re there. Otherwise you can submit it through the submit function on tumblr or DM me on @kiloueka
I’ll take any flags! I’ll only be uploading MOGAI-related flags to the gallery right now but I’ve recently made a folder in the Mega drive to keep ND, kin-related, and other flags as well. Maybe when (or if) I get mostly caught up with the MOGAI-related flags I’ll branch out and work on some of those next!
Requirements:
Upload flags in a folder that keeps their original resolution and filename (like dropbox or mega.nz or google drive).
Name the file with the full term name + " - @[how you want to be credited]". No shorthand or keysmashes.
Make a note somewhere about symbols that you didn’t make yourself (like did you use some public domain clipart or a copyrighted image?)
Note if any flags are just edits of other people’s flags (like a specific demigender flag or a combo)
Optional but would be really really really helpful if you did (really):
Send them in 5000x3000px PNGs (especially if they’re more complex flags)
Add transparent PNGs of whatever symbols you used or link to wherever you found them.
Organize simple stripe flags in folders based on # of stripes (or how many stripes you needed to use from a template (explanation under the cut)). If they’re more complex then don’t worry about it.
Attach a text doc with definitions if they’re not easy to just look up myself.
Please boost this post far and wide! I want this to be a resource everyone can use and I have lots to catch up on after my 3ish year hiatus!
If you wanna help out in other ways I have a lot of ways listed at the bottom of the FAQ!
Thank you all!
With the automation I have to have separate actions in photoshop depending on the number of stripes of the template I’d use.
Tumblr media
See I stick both these flags in the 6 stripe folder when automating even though the right one technically only has 4 because 2 of the stripes are twice as wide as the others.
You can check out the Unedited flags folder in the mega folder pinned on the blog.
